You've got some great minds to plug into here. If I'm not mistaken, Luckygunner or some such place did a test with various thickness drywall and manufacturers rounds? Bet some google-fu can find it. That being said, I'd look at a different platform, like a shotgun, for close home defense. Rifle rounds move at 2000+ fps and are only 1 projectile. Target loads in a 20 ga. have scores of projectiles, and won't go into the next room.5 points

If one has other persons sleeping in different rooms, then I would think very hard on what I would use in the case of the need to use firearms. Me…I would rather do some sheet rock and paint rather than burying one of my kids.3 points

Range report! FIrst, they're back in stock on the waitlist link only (FRT-15 - Rare Breed Triggers), not the home page. Second, tried it in a dd mk18 upper with a t3 buffer and it ran freaking insanely fast. On an Aero m4 upper, seemed slower. Not one issue, squeezed as hard as I could trying to replicate that issue from the youtube video and simply couldn't get it to anything except empty the mag. D60 drained in under 5 seconds with both setups. Whatever they modified on the trigger for these newer ones must have cleared the problem up---or the problem wasn't that big of a problem. I have 5.56 AR mags loaded with Winchester 64 grain Power Point. This round is marketed toward deer hunters and has a decent track record against medium size game. It is reliable and accurate and has virtually the same trajectory out to 200 or so as a 55fmj. My intent with this round is not for defending the living room, but rather for being prepared for outdoor festivities if Antifa is coming down the street, etc. I figure a deer round will be just as good or better than pretty much anything else for repelling bad guys. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/29004026822 points

Most all popular calibers have similar penetration. May want to look up 'The Firearm Blog", .22 vs. 223 Home Defense Drywall Penetration2 points

I have a AR set up for home defense but it is a 9mm. And I am loving it. 223/556 in the house is not my favorite mainly because it will blow thru walls and you loose sight and control or “down range”2 points

Thanks for the advice. We picked him up a bike last night. It’s an 06 Suzuki Boulevard S40, which is just a newer Savage 650. The big one cylinder engine is different from what I’m used to. It’s nice, and has 2500 miles on it. I thought $2k was a fair price, considering what I’ve looked at. It’s black and sharp. It has mew brakes, new tires, windshield, saddlebags, sissy bar bag, phone holder, new battery, and a fresh oil change. It also came with a helmet, Clymer manual, factory manual, and two oil filters. It was owned and ridden by an older man who decided to get a bigger bike. I rode it home; about 70 miles last night. Ran great. I think it’ll do.2 points

In bright, in your face sun, some shooters put blue painters tape over the lens. I have tried it…one can still see the target with other eye and effectively shoot the dot. I’m betting you can do the same thing with a fogged glass.1 point

Put some cat crap on it. It’s what I use on all my weapon optics and night vision glass.1 point

They make them look good in the commercials but I know about 3 guys that have test drove them and none bought one but 1 of them did buy new Jeep. 1 is still looking for something and one is considering a new Blazer.1 point

This isn’t new. All of the big 3 have done this. Modern engines often don’t make the noises American consumers want.1 point

Thanks for the report. Looks like I now have something else to pizz away money on.1 point

Congrats on the find/purchase. I've had several Suzuki bikes in the Intruder models, still miss my '04 Intruder 1400. LOL. Dependable bikes, and should be a good beginners bike for him.1 point

He’s 5-10/ 5-11, and a buck thirty soaking wet. I’m inclined to steer him toward a Honda 500 CBR, and looking at used prices, probably a new one, although it’s a bit beyond what he’s wanting to spend. What do you all think of them?1 point

If you haven't heard this song, give it a listen. Toby pretty much tells it like it is. THANK YOU to all service men and women who served and protected us while we were sleeping in our soft warm beds!!1 point

Many years ago working at schools as an outside contractor, I asked a Police officer what was the difference between the knife I carried and the knife a student carried. The answer I was given was this, "mine is a tool, the student's is a weapon". The officer I asked also said at any time I could be charged with a weapons charge if needed. I carry tools every day, I get on the tarmac at the airport and schools grounds with a van full of tools, all can be used as weapons, some as WMDs. I for one am damn tired of worrying about what law I may or may not be breaking!!!1 point

The original (standard) permit which started in 96, is now referred to as the Enhanced Carry Permit - - - - simply a name change once the Concealed Carry Permit started in Jan 2020. Different certification processes. A few restrictions, the biggest being a CCP must be carried concealed only. Bottom line, anyone that had an HCP before Jan 2020 now has an ECP. The ECP is still available to anyone that wants to take the 8 hour class.1 point

Am I gonna have to haul some ammo to Memphis and try this thing out??!!??1 point

We need to remember this when things get back to normal, and stock up accordingly. There probably should be a sticky about being prepared in the ammo section.1 point

I don’t have a cat, but I wonder if Pomeranian turds will help. And before anyone wets their pants, it’s a gamer gun and doesn’t need co-witnessed sights.0 points

My nephew told me that they were piping in "V8 motor sounds" over the stereo to offset the sounds of the 2.0 liter engine - and I thought he was pulling my leg. Alas: https://www.motortrend.com/news/2021-ford-bronco-sport-badlands-v-8-noise-speakers/ I don't even really know what to say.0 points

I agree with ReeferMac. I have a H&K M1 Super 90 with 9 rounds of 00 buck. Get by that and the place is yours. Short story: Years ago a guy took a .45 to a pawn shop. The owner was looking at it without clearing it. Pulled the trigger and bang. Round went through shop’s window, across a 4 lane highway, through the window of a Black & Decker sales office and killed a guy sitting at his desk. How I know, the poor guy bled all over the paperwork on his desk. They tossed the bloody stuff in the trash. My parts order was on his desk.0 points
