Happy Father's Day everyone! No greater role has been bestowed upon us. I've been blessed with two wonderful daughters.6 points

Thanking God and you all for prayers! We see some improvement this morning. Molly has actually stood and walked out to potty. Drank some water nibbled on a few chopped bits a greenie. Not much, but first in 24 hours. Not saying all is perfect, but Molly is much better this morning.4 points

I picked up an Italian Police turned in Beretta 92S last year from Fasteddie. it shoots great, but being a service pistol, the frame was a little beat up. Also, I never really cared for the glossy black finish. Since I was already planning to cerakote an AR, and I had the Graphite Black, I did the lower frame. I think it turned out great. it needs new grips. And I will post again once they come in. I may go back and strip the slide and kote it at some point. Before After3 points

So I built an AR for shooting 22LR as well as 5.56/.223. It was built with a .223 Wylde 1/9 twist barrel, an Anderson lower (thanks Whisper), a blemed upper, a full stock (thanks KahrMan) and a free floating match hand guard. I aquired a cosmetically damaged PSA lower for next to nothing (read less than $30) so i needed to make it better. A buddy of mine got into Cerakoting for an auto restauration he is working on, but wanted to try fire arms. I was game and decided on a mildy two-tone build using a modified Disruptive Grey color (33% Graphite Black-66% Tungsten instead of 25% Graphite Black-75% Tungsten) for the upper, lower, and hand guard and Graphite Black for the stock, forward assist and ejection cover. The smalll bits were already a decent black in the lower build kit. The Cerakoting went great. It does take time to clean, sand blast, de-gas. Since we were doing two colors, we went with the black first. I did the frame of my 92S at the same time. The ABS plastic stock had to cure at a lower temp for 2 hours so we flashed the metal parts at that temp and then used the rest of the plastic cure time to do the Mod-disruptive grey (I need to name it). and flash those. Once the plastic was done we hard cured the metal parts. All in all I was at Scott's house for about 7 hours yesterday. I finished the build out today. I am very happy with the result. There are a few blemishes. It was Scott's first time to spray gun parts. And I dinged the hand guard, and of course the ding ended up at the top once installed, not the bottom. I am still trying to decide if the gas block should match the upper/lower/hand guard. The oven cured Cerakote is rated to about 500 degF. I am not sure how hor a gas block gets. I may have to Kote some other things. I think my inexpensive, parkerized GI model 1911 would look good that color, or a version of that color. The old lower from Whisper will get a new caliber upper (300 BO). Here are some before and after photos.2 points

Some will say I'm being foolish...but I don't care. I know there are lovers of all God's wonderful creations here, and though it may be too late; I ask for a small prayer for the life of my very best friend and companion of 12 years...Molly. She's been having a few problems lately, and I won't go into them now. Let's just say we've devoted a lot of time and funds on her over the years, and I fear that her release from all this is near. It's been rough on her with injuries before. But the little trooper has never whined or cried out from her pain. Always a bright eye and a wagging tail for me at every moment. Well that's changed today. Molly hasn't moved unless absolutely forced to and has refused all forms of food, water, even her favorite...Greenies. That in and of itself doesn't sound all that bad, but coupled with the things I'm not saying...I'm extremely worried and fearful this afternoon. So if you could spare a moment for a prayer for her. Thank you brothers.2 points

Thank you all. Molly is still holding on tonight. I believe your prayers are helping. ER Vet has no idea other than age or possibly a med reaction from liver pills. We declined the idea of leaving her, and brought her home where she an be more comfortable and familiar surroundings. Did get her to drink a little water, so that's a good sign I think. She is quiet and dreaming right now. Whatever comes, my thanks. We are still praying for a healing and more time with her.2 points

There is absolutely no reason one should get too twisted over it as there is not a single thing whatsoever they can do about it.2 points

I went to a gun store this weekend looking for a particular kind of gun and they had one used, and they were having a sale for Father’s Day, 10% off. They advertised on Facebook two videos and one picture 10% off the entire store including in stock firearms. He told me the price and I asked about the 10% discount and said it did not include used firearms. I told him what the ad said so he asked the owner, and the owner said no. I did buy the gun but did feel like they were being dishonest. I had a couple of rifles I was selling and he said he would take a look at them but could not give retail for them, which I understand, and I could come back tomorrow and he would look at them and tell me what he could buy them for. While I was waiting for the owner to show up I was talking to an employee there and he told me they are having a sale and the entire store is 10% off. I told him that wasn’t true and he said yes it was, so I told him I have $300 in my wallet I bet him it wasn’t true. He asked me why I thought it wasn’t true, and told him I bought a gun here last night and I did not get the 10% discount. He looked it up and asked if I bought new and I said no. He told me well that discount doesn’t apply to used guns. I told him “but that’s not what you told me and that’s not what all of your ads said”. He asked the owner again but of course the answer was no. I was going to let it go Friday night but when I got told the same thing the next day it really infuriated me, but it’s going to save me money in the long run because I don’t think I’m going to buy a gun there anymore. Do you think they should have honored their ad?1 point

Any idjit can post stuff online. You are right to be pissed. Either the GS in question is devious or ignorant, probably both.1 point

I will say the cerakoting was not too difficult. A good acetone and simple green wash. Sand blasting was kind of gratifying. It did help that my buddy has a nice blast cabinet, and a nice spray-gun from Cerakote, and an oven dedicated to curing in his garage. I did everything but the spraying. He has the experience with the spray gun. I will note, if you are blasting a frame that has a blind hole for a spring, it will get packed with media. I learned that the hard way and had to dig out media during re-assembly.1 point

I know what your going through, we have lost three over the years and it's not easy. I know some people say there just animals, but a true pet lover knows that's not true. I've got my little buddy right now in my lap. My wife and I will pray for Molly and hope everything is well.1 point

I forget how things were pre kids. I must have been really bored. One 11 the other 7. It’s nonstop cleaning and going to someone’s sport or throwing some type of ball. I thought paying someone to mow my lawn was stupid! I was stupid. Happy Father’s Day to all dads. Now I gotta mow the lawn. Can’t get the grass guy this weekend.1 point

If it’s good STIFF nylon. These holsters are. They are a bit bulky, but for $4.99, it’s still a great deal. I’ve used all three that I bought and like them all. They do have a thumb break that takes a bit of getting used to.1 point

Personally, I’d be rather frustrated over the entire ordeal. They took time to specify “In Stock” firearms, why not point out “New Firearms” as well? That said, looking at the screenshots you posted, it seems as if they are not social media/advertising experts.1 point

Gunbroker-20% would be a good place to start. I price what I sale for what I’d ideally like to get, then start discounting the price until someone bites. I put t back in the safe before I go below what I really want to sell it for.1 point

If I’m patient and don’t get into a hurry, after recouping costs by selling the takeoffs, I should be able to get this done for less than $1k all in including original purchase price.1 point

Nothing wrong at all with Uncle Mike's stuff. A lot of guys like leather but, nothing wrong with a good nylon either.1 point

No. The .357 Sig is a shortened and necked down 10mm case. You can't even neck down a .40 because the pressure is too high for the case head. It's also rimless like the .45acp. The .357 magnum and 38 spcl have rims.1 point

The lead time for importing ammunition is years. It can take a year just to get the State Department to approve each shipment. And I'm sure the Biden administration has no interest in speeding it up. I'm sure that foreign manufacturers are VERY eager to ship as much as possible while prices and demand are high.1 point

Aren't most if not all primer manufacturers also ammo mfgs? They use most of the primers to load for those that can't or won't load their own. Folks that reload are at the bottom of the heap and are offered the leftovers.1 point

If ya are into " period correct " leather and canvas goods, this ole boy here is your man... More than that, he resides in Bulls Gap, TN... An old and honored location in Tennessee. He has made several holsters for my Ruger SA vaqueros, belts, and ammo pouches... He is arrow straight, a great leather craftsman, and an all round good guy... Highly recommended... https://jm-leather.com/ leroy...1 point
