If you use Gunbroker go to the advanced search and only search the closed auctions. That way you can see what guns actually sold for, not what people are asking.8 points

Boys and girls what did we learn from this? Don't go barging in to a business, and go behind counter. Somebody will knock you into next week, real quick. Lucky didn't die from lead poisoning.2 points

If the firearms you're selling are modern guns it shouldn't be too difficult to find their selling price. If they're antique or collectible firearms, it's a whole different world. Rarity, condition, originality, caliber in many cases.2 points

In other news, the hospital system that my wife works for is trying to bribe the workers to get vaccinated by entering then into a drawing for $5,000. If that’s not alarming to anyone I don’t know what is. The majority of those that haven’t gotten vaccinated have either already had COVID, are currently pregnant or trying to get pregnant, or just young and/or healthy and not at high risk. Meanwhile they have not had a COVID patient in her hospital in a couple weeks.2 points

I see a lot of small guns that people have but they tend to have problems. It's true that the smaller you go the more trouble that you have with semi-autos. I have heard , read , and studied about these and along some years found the right gun for the caliber that runs reliably for it's small size. The Ruger LCP in 380. It's small and fits in the front pocket of many shorts and pants. I have carried mine for the last 2 years and every 6 months I will fire it with all the lint it collected and dust. It runs great. The Glock 43 in 9mm. I have had 2 and they both ran like a well oiled sewing machine. Sold one but then realized that I made a mistake. It's so good I got another one. Simple 9mm and with very few parts. The Springfield Armory XDS 45. I got this one used and ran it dirty , and clean . It runs and runs . To me it's the smallest 45ACP you can get that is reliable. It has a grip-safety that I don't like but it is very easy to engage even with a loose grip. The S&W M&P Shield in .40S&W . What better to run a .40S&W caliber than in it's own creator's gun. It runs and works great. The Shield , G43 , and XDS45 are all the same size in thickness , length and width plus or minus a few thousands of an inch. These guns run great and have had scratches and scuffs , had dust and saw dust in them while I was cutting wood , mowing grass , and whatever else. None has failed nor rusted. In case you want a small pocket gun that will last , try these 4 . I thought this may help some people with their decisions. have a good day !1 point

I will add that you won’t likely get gunbroker prices selling locally. You also won’t have to fool with scammers, shipping, fees, ffls, etc.1 point

Try staggering your flock. Their egg production blooms early in life at about 6-12 months, then fades to about 3 years of age, where it pretty much stops altogether. What you do with them when they stop laying is up to you, average lifespan is 5 years. My wife has insisted we'll run a retirement community if need be. We're "at that point" with 4 of the 7 we have, maybe 1 egg/week/bird. The other 3 are younger, and still producing well. My wife has 11(!!!) more coming up, they'll be laying by the end of summer. Not a smart system. ... if ones goal is to have say 16 chickens producing eggs, it would be best to add ~4-5 per year, vs throwing a dozen into the coop one year and waiting until they die off or get eaten. That way you will have a steadier supply vs. Boom/Bust cycles as the birds age. We also seem to lose at least 1-2 birds per year to predation, etc. That mostly happens when free ranging, but once something (racoon) reached through the fence and got a couple while sleeping.1 point

I picked up a department G36K which had an awful hydro dip on the entire gun. I don’t think they even broke the gun down and just dipped it in one assembly. Here are some before and after pics. All parts were restored with the exception to the folding stock. They cut the stock and spliced it to shorten it so it was trash. It’s definitely seen some use and the natural sheen on the black polymer has worn off but it still functions perfectly. You can also see the difference in the sheen between my other G36K which is in like new condition. Just waiting on. New mechanical rear sight to finish it up.1 point

Gunbroker-20% would be a good place to start. I price what I sale for what I’d ideally like to get, then start discounting the price until someone bites. I put t back in the safe before I go below what I really want to sell it for.1 point

Those of us that have more primers than they will ever need to loosen up. Heck, I was selling to Tennessee guys primers last winter for $40.00 a brick, any favor. Just donated a brick of 209 shot shells primers to a collage student trying for the Nationals. Come on guys, this is the Volunteer State. The more of us that have ammo, the lesser chance of someone ( foreign or domestic) taken away our gun rights.1 point

One is looking at an initial atty retainer of 20k plus if arrested for felony. Got that laying around? This is BEFORE trial; multiples of that if it actually goes to trial. Plus bail money! As I mentioned, I am switching from USCCA to CCW safe. They actively participate in evaluating your chosen attorney. They are ran by experienced staff. One also has to be concerned about appeals and civil proceedings. Not all options cover those expenses. Education and avoidance are your best defense, and not just what you think you know from the internet.1 point

One of my totin guns is an old Ruger Vaquero sheriff stoked with 12.5 grains of 2400 behind the old 173 grain hard cast .358 dia swc stuffed in 38 special cases. If ya like 357 cases, use 13.5. These loads mimic the old 38 special hi speed loads for about 1100 fps... Powerful and accurate in a big frame pistola... leroy...1 point

Love my 686! Purchased new around 1986. I recently chronoed some loads for it. 158 gr Hi Tek coated SWC bullets from Hoosier Bullets & Training AA#5 8.0 grs average velocity 960 fps AA#2 5.9 grs average velocity 1020 fps I don't have the chrono data handy, but I've used 6.0 grs Unique for 158 gr LSWC as my original .357 handload when I first purchased that revolver. I too like H110 and 2400 for Mag loads... but I'm running a bit low on those particular powders and 158 gr bullets at around 1000 fps won't beat you or your revolver up. Congrats on a great revolver!1 point

Yes, he's not too popular around here. However, that's been the case pretty much from the start. I also doubt that many members here were ever convinced of his credibility or truthfulness, long before any of the emails and other conversations became public ...1 point
