  1. I hit Defeated Creek for an afternoon, then the next morning two weekends ago. BIG bluegill were spawning. Caught around 50 each day on my ultra light running 2lb line and a 1/64oz trout magnet. Fun stuff!

  2. Me and my son went to Dale Hollow a couple of weeks ago. Couldn't find any shellcrackers. We did catch some big bluegills. That's the only time I've been so far this year.

  3. Where in the world have you been? I was just wondering about you. I haven’t seen you here in a while. I hope all is well.

  4. The USPS distribution center in Memphis is a mess. I've had packages run perfectly on schedule from the shipper only to arrive in Memphis and suddenly disappear for a week or more. I've also had packages arrive in Memphis only to be shipped off again to some totally unrelated city. Calling this place incompetent would be a complement.

  5. Hello! I'm Melissa, and our family is planning a move to TN. Yes, we are from the dreaded Commifornia, but patriots through and through. It's really gotten ridiculous out here to expect any level of freedom. I'm a firearms instructor, a mom of 6, CCW holder (yes, even here), and a liberty loving, Gadsden flag waving girl, who can't wait to see green grass, hear southern manners, and taste the freedom that our founding fathers provided for. Still determining whether we're going to be closer to Nashville or Knoxville, so feel free to convince us. Our scouting trip is in July. I'm glad to find this forum. Thanks for letting me join. Blessings, Melissa

  7. Great info. Loving the properties on the Cumberland River too. Gallatin has a few. Torn between river view and boat dock or land for a range. It's likely too much to want both. A friend just moved to Cookeville, starter neighborhood there. Young family. Ours are almost grown, so we're looking toward a lazy retirement home. Boat life and shooting for fun on our own property.

  8. Like like everywhere else Mount Juliet grown leaps and bounds. Real estate is shot through the roof. You’re welcome to come to Mount Juliet repaired. Not trying to steer you away but further east Cookeville and Livingston, those areas are gorgeous and real estate has not gone to crazy yet. A little more east of Mount Juliet is. little town called Watertown and Alexandria area and not a bad commute to Nashville. North of Lebanon up around Lafayette and a little further north another option.

  11. I bought my 1st Bersa Thunder from Mikey at Sumner Gun and supply too many years back to remember and spoke to him to many times to remember but each time was great and that Bersa is still on my nightstand and will be as long as I am breathing. I'm sure he is still playing music in Heaven for a much more special audience!!!!

  16. I guess I'm now officially the neighborhood gun guy. I've never really flaunted my hobby. But I guess the neighbors have noticed when I load up and go to the range or occasionally go to the mailbox without covering my EDC. Yesterday one of my neighbors, an older lady around 70, knocked on my door. Seems that she had heard that I was good with guns and asked for my help. She recently bought a Sig P365. She had field striped it for cleaning but when she put it back together she couldn't get the take down lever to go back into proper position. I took a look. I know these are good guns and folks speak highly of them. However, I have no personal experience with them. Fortunately a few minutes on YouTube was all it took to discover the little trick of pushing up on the slide lock to seat it. I showed her how to do it and she caught right on. Today she came back. She had purchased four extra magazines. (smart lady) But for her model the floor plates needed to be changed out. The correct parts are included. Again to YouTube and I swapped out the floor plates in just a few minutes. She was very appreciative and thanked me over and over. I told her that helping is what neighbors are for. BTW: I asked her about ammo and she said she had gotten up at 4:30 am to be first in line at Academy. She has enough for her needs.

  17. Welcome. I spent a little time in the northern part of your state and found it mostly tolerable. You'll like it here.

  19. I fished out at the southern end of Priest on Saturday - was actually not too far away when the plane went down even though it’s so skinny back there I had no idea. I was in the kayak fishing for panfish on an ultralight rig. Really just out there to enjoy the weather. The bite was pretty good, though.

  20. I bought a Hustler Fastrak about a month ago and I'm absolutely in love with it. The suspension seat is where it's at! Overkill for my 1.5 acres? Absolutely, but with proper maintenance there is no reason that it shouldn't last 25 years or more, which makes it cheaper in the long run than a consumer grade mower. I was actually going to buy a BadBoy but I didn't care for how I was treated at the local dealer.

  21. I called my local dealers looking for a Bad Boy and they was all on order. I came home with a Cub Cadet ZT1 54in, worked out a deal and got it for $3300 out the door. If it's anything like the M48 Tank I'll be pleased.

  22. I saw a bumper sticker yesterday: You can't fix stupid, but you can numb it up with a 2x4. Seems appropriate to some extent.

  25. Hipower, Thanks for going to Mike's farewell ceremony. Many times I have had the privilege of speaking to a loved one at a funeral. There are no words you can say that will make it better. However your presence is far more important, even if you don't say anything other that I am so sorry for your loss. The mere fact that you took your time, which is the most valuable asset any of us ever possess, and shared it with the family means the most. I was listening to an old Hank Sr. song yesterday and when I heard that steel guitar playing I thought of Steelharp. He will be missed for sure.

  26. I’m fairly certain everyone who met him likely left feeling that way. He cared about people in a way that simply cannot be faked.

  27. I have decided to do a lot of one-handed dry fire practice and maybe even some range time. I have gone the extra mile to ensure that I don't cheat on this by partially tearing my left (non-dominant) arm's bicep tendon, thereby requiring myself to be in a sling most of the time. Gentlemen, I do not skimp when it comes to practice. In all seriousness, I managed to nearly rip that sucker apart on Memorial Day by doing something I've done numerous times lately: Lifting a 4x8 sheet of plywood off of a cart and into my truck. Now, you might think that what should have caused injury was the sudden shifting of weight as that much money suddenly left my wallet all at once. And you'd be justified in thinking that. But the reality of it is that I simply didn't grab the wood properly, missed its center of gravity, and when I heaved it yawed and that was the end of that. I *did* manage to retain a hold on the plywood and heaved it up into the truck despite my injured arm. Because I'd no sooner leave an expensive sheet of wood on the ground for some parking lot pirate to pick up any more than I'd leave a box of ammo there. My parents didn't raise a complete dummy. Perhaps a little bit of one, as evidenced by this injury, but not a complete one. So, back to my single-handed dry fire manipulation.... who's going to join me? Just go ahead and gimp one of your own chicken-wings too and we'll get started.
