As I said earlier here, if your neighbors have weeds, you're gonna have weeds. The only solution is the services that come spray 4-6 times a year. To me, all the pollinating insects (mostly honey bees) are way more important than my grass looking like an Augusta National fairway.

All of the recent scammer activity on TGO and other big gun forums uses the same tactic: A new "member" registers for an account and immediately sends a private message to legitimate members of the community with an alleged off-site, out of state contact, who either has the item they want to buy or is wanting to buy the item they have to sale. To date 100% of this activity has been fraudulent. In order to make it harder for these scum to operate in the shadows, I am considering the following changes to TGO: Placing all new members into a category that forbids them from being able to send a private message until X-Number of days have passed since registering, or X-Number of posts have been made in other areas, or some combination of the two. If a person wants to bypass that restriction, they can buy a Benefactor subscription, at which point we have a way to track them down if they do something illegal. Otherwise they participate by providing meaningful content for a brief period of time, after which they can send private messages. What do you all say about this plan?

I see a lot of small guns that people have but they tend to have problems. It's true that the smaller you go the more trouble that you have with semi-autos. I have heard , read , and studied about these and along some years found the right gun for the caliber that runs reliably for it's small size. The Ruger LCP in 380. It's small and fits in the front pocket of many shorts and pants. I have carried mine for the last 2 years and every 6 months I will fire it with all the lint it collected and dust. It runs great. The Glock 43 in 9mm. I have had 2 and they both ran like a well oiled sewing machine. Sold one but then realized that I made a mistake. It's so good I got another one. Simple 9mm and with very few parts. The Springfield Armory XDS 45. I got this one used and ran it dirty , and clean . It runs and runs . To me it's the smallest 45ACP you can get that is reliable. It has a grip-safety that I don't like but it is very easy to engage even with a loose grip. The S&W M&P Shield in .40S&W . What better to run a .40S&W caliber than in it's own creator's gun. It runs and works great. The Shield , G43 , and XDS45 are all the same size in thickness , length and width plus or minus a few thousands of an inch. These guns run great and have had scratches and scuffs , had dust and saw dust in them while I was cutting wood , mowing grass , and whatever else. None has failed nor rusted. In case you want a small pocket gun that will last , try these 4 . I thought this may help some people with their decisions. have a good day !

oh Rob, I'd take goats over ducks and geese ANY day.

My wife's p238 has been extremely reliable. We even took a defensive pistol class with it once and it took the abuse just fine.

Nothing wrong with iron sights. They are simple, tough, and the battery is never dead. Sometimes there's something to be said for tried and true.

I wouldn't mind giving one of those XDS 45s a try. You've intrigued me.

Yep!! I was watching youtube T.V and saw a newscast from Tulsa from last month and they interviewed a gunshop owner and he said his distributor told him to turn in an order for next year. He alluded to the fact it may be next year before things get better. I ain't worried, I am trying to get a buddy to go shooting Thursday, and have another range trip scheduled for next Tuesday.

since you brought it up. Kel Tec .32 ACP has been with me for over 20 years. I also have a Browning Baby if I need something REALLY small. Both are reliable with the Browning being 100% And the Kel Tec failing once. I did slip my 8 round 4 inch .357 in the pocket of my shorts Sunday not intending to get out of the car. Wound up having to traipse through walmart. we had no issues. carry and concealed comfort are relative to clothing and determination.

The flavor is good, you can control the amount of smoke on my Pellet Grill, I use Oak Pellets and Apple Wood Pellets. They make a few other flavors also. I never could cook on charcoal either I used to much and you could cook for three hours after I got done cooking or I used to little and had to remove the food to add more then wait for it to burn. I never tasted anything other than what I was cooking on my Gas Grill, I wish that the Holland Grill Company wouldn't have went out of business, I'd buy another one of them it been a good USA made Grill that I bought 7yrs. ago. I thought about buying one of the Green Eggs, or Commado Joe's but I couldn't justify the $1000+ price tag for those right now.

My dad got me one at an auction two years ago. Never fired and honestly, dont even know why I still have it. I have zero interest in lugging that long ass m91 anywhere

Last two houses spanning nearly 40 years we have had acres of woods around us so lots of interesting things grow and dig in our yard. Discovered if you have grubs skunks dig holes to get a midnight snack and they make a noise that almost sounds like they are singing. Took awhile to figure out what the strange noise was in the middle of the night.

I never was a conformist. My yard is more other things than grass, but it stays green even in a drought.

I always mix white clover with whatever grass seed mix I currently like. The clover puts out nitrogen and the grass starts to crowd it out, the clover slows down the amount of nitrogen and the grass slows down and the clover spreads again. Nice system, plus I like the look of clover. Never did anything special, just mowed when needed. I do tend to keep my grass on the long side so that may help to.

I've got a bunch of clover in my yard and it comes back every year. Letting it go until the blooms turn brown -ish before mowing should help it spread, but it should come back on its own.

If your lawn is anything like mine, no matter what you do it will come back, seems I have more clover than grass.

BTW, Rob I understand @Chucktshoes has some well-used, but still attractive goats available ...

I would take prison rape over goats. No goats. Not now, Not ever. For srslys. Also, you're not allowed to ever speak to my goat-enamoured wife. Ever.

I'm the OP of this 3-year old thread. I now have beautiful patches of clover in my 4 acre front "yard." With yard being a euphemism for field. Clover is everywhere now, but it's only thick in a few plots. I'd prefer to see a sea of white when it's blooming. It's been 12 days since I last mowed. The clover tops are white and thick in a few places and it's been white for maybe 3-4 days. I'd like to get the optimum amount of clover seeds, so how much longer should I let the clover grow before I mow it again? I want as much of it to go to seed as possible and spread, but I'm mowing the rest of the field to prevent other grasses from going to seed. It looks pretty... unusual... right now with patches of unmowed clover surrounded by mowed grass.

It depends on the situation. When I hike, I almost always carry a .357 revolver. But when running around doing errands, I carry a semi-auto. One of those cheap plastic ones that take little skill to produce, but shoot great and don't pull my pants down around my ankle. I'm not a fan of suspenders...

Never fire into the air, that wastes good ammo.
