Listening to the most recent episode of the Cocaine & Rhinestones podcast. It’s on the Nashville A Team and it made me wish I could pick Steelharp’s brain about what he thought about it. Miss you, man.3 points

Yeah I wouldn’t want to work at ARDOT right now. Although they may soon have a few positions available.3 points

In guessin that the inspectors are tecnicians and/or engineers. We used both. Trained and certified for the inspections they performed. Additionally, an engineer most likeky reviewed the report. This poor guy's problem is that he either overlooked or didnt do ( ... My guess.. ) the required inspections. That is firin offense on its face. Signin the report is certifying a lie... Another slam dunk for firin. This will be interestin to watch. This witch hunt aint over in thinkin. leroy...3 points

Because the unvaccinated population can keep the virus in circulation. This has recently been a problem with anti-vaxxers and measles outbreaks. It has also been happening with polio in other countries. If enough of the population does not get vaccinated for a particular virus, then it can hang around and pose a threat to people who can’t have the vaccine (like the very young).2 points
-
If you’ve been vaccinated and can’t catch it, why would you give a crap whether other folks have been vaccinated?2 points
-
I had my second round of vaccine yesterday. I woke up in the middle of the night freezing my butt off. I had to pull the bedspread up over my blanket just to feel warmer. Then the rest of the night I went back and forth between hot and cold, and I couldn't sleep. Today I'm in a fog because of no sleep and just feel like crap. It is hands down the worst reaction that I've ever had to ANY vaccine. But here's the rub: It was the second round of the shingles vaccine that the VA gives four months apart from the first round.2 points
-
That's going to be the case now that half the country has had the vaccine. We'd probably wind it down even faster if 30% wouldn't refuse to get the shot.2 points

So six months after the election the COVID emergency seems to be winding down rapidly. Seems that I read some predictions that such would be the case.2 points

The treehuggers have been saying this for as long as I can remember, and most of them lean way left. Here’s an example https://www.biologicaldiversity.org/programs/population_and_sustainability/climate/ They start off by saying we need a smaller carbon footprint as well as fewer feet. Down about paragraph 19, the article talks about how fertility rates have slowed, but progress in this area has been hampered by reductions in family planning. They inevitably argue that the US is the worst offender and the world is about to end.2 points

I can't see how this would discourage a legit newcomer from "joining" the forum, rather a reminder as to the reason they joined. I know many forums require a minimum # of posts before accessing other features. I've joined other forums that required something of that nature, and I had no issue with it. My vote is go with it. We live in a different world these days. Adjust & survive.2 points

Red and all, I appreciate the offer and the info. I thought about it and realized the lifetime benefactor membership was not that much money to pay considering how much help I have received from this board, so I went ahead and pulled the trigger, so to speak. I will post my items in the Classifieds now, thank you all-FFR1910, aka Bill Allen2 points

I will pay for your membership. you make the effort to work out he details. Have a MOD send me a PM.2 points

Gun Owners Club will work, but I will tell you that a benefactor membership here is well worth the meager cost. It helps pay the bills to keep this great forum running.2 points

All of the recent scammer activity on TGO and other big gun forums uses the same tactic: A new "member" registers for an account and immediately sends a private message to legitimate members of the community with an alleged off-site, out of state contact, who either has the item they want to buy or is wanting to buy the item they have to sale. To date 100% of this activity has been fraudulent. In order to make it harder for these scum to operate in the shadows, I am considering the following changes to TGO: Placing all new members into a category that forbids them from being able to send a private message until X-Number of days have passed since registering, or X-Number of posts have been made in other areas, or some combination of the two. If a person wants to bypass that restriction, they can buy a Benefactor subscription, at which point we have a way to track them down if they do something illegal. Otherwise they participate by providing meaningful content for a brief period of time, after which they can send private messages. What do you all say about this plan?1 point

You can read Nixon in his own words to Congress: https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/documents/special-message-the-congress-proposing-national-health-strategy If it walks like universal healthcare and quacks like universal healthcare - it's universal healthcare. This would have been a bigger overhaul than even the ACA was under Obama 35 years late.1 point

When we first moved here we told the kids "oh look, the cloud machine is running!" They take everything Dad says with a grain of salt. Buddy of mine just retired from there last year! That new stack is supposed to be the latest and greatest clean-coal technology?1 point

The young and healthy don’t need a vaccine. They will just test positive and be done with it, like my kids. The vaccine carries it’s own risks1 point

Oh, far from it. Local news is digging fast, hard and deep. Trying desperately to fling poop far and wide.1 point

great info Greg. I use LEE carbide dies. Have not needed case lube yet. yup, big difference in powder from 30-301 point

How do we know they do? How long are the antibodies good for? I don't really care at this point what people do but the reality is that the fastest way of getting back to normal is if we vaccinate most of the country. I've already decided it's going to be a normal summer for me. My gym dropped the mask requirement this week so that's a win.1 point

We took a trip to Alabama/Mississippi last Thursday and I never paid more than$2.89 only saw a few stations with bags on the pumps indicating out of gas or particular grade. It appears that the metro areas were the hardest hit, we are our worst enemies by buying 5 times the gas or T.P. or bullets we normally buy and everyone else copies what the neighbor is doing.1 point

Fraud? Falsifying documents? Do these state inspectors hold and licenses granted by the state? Oftentimes there can be legal consequences for certain things. I am imagining someone too lazy to get tour of the truck and slapped a new date on last years report (or similar).1 point

The " charges " thing is a non starter... Im guessin ( ... The operative word is " guessin " ..) that the reason for the firing was forging inspection reports. He wuz supposed to visually inspect, then write a report. He obviously didnt... leroy...1 point

My load is 5 grains of Bullseye and 230 grain ball. 7000/5=1400. Pretty cool if you’re accustomed to loading high power rifle rounds. You won’t need to trim or chamfer brass, but you will need to slightly bell the case mouth. With a carbide sizing die, you also won’t need to lube cases. You’ll want to crimp slightly. More accurately, remove the bell.1 point

I'm not saying the didn't deserve getting fired. He most definitely did. What I'm saying is that government wasted no time at all in finding someone to blame. That's their normal procedure.1 point

THANKS much!!! I had done the math but was afraid my grain to pound source was flawed. you just confirmed what I found. Good to know all that math I took works for something.1 point

He'll have some supervisors sweating as well. Something like this is interesting to watch play out. Either this guy was an idiot, or he has documentation of things his supervisor has done that would get them in major trouble as well. Don't be surprised to either find he's receiving full retirement benefits or is rehired shortly.1 point

I don't know, seems he and his team missed that large break, so I say good riddance.1 point

I DON’T know. That’s the thing. I wouldn’t want traffic on that bridge until I did know. As far as the interstate system, it was mostly built in the 60’s and 70’s as a means for military equipment to be transported efficiently. It was an afterthought that the motoring public could actually use it too. Those bridges are ALL pushing 60 years old. We are coming to a place shortly where there will be an astronomical bill due to replace them. Anything mam makes has a limited lifespan.1 point

This is just one reason to be here. Good people, fellowship, and help when you need it. Where else would a complete stranger pay for your joining a group?1 point

My fishing buddy and I had a great day today. Great conversation and great company. The peanut butter N crackers washed down with ice cold Coke was delicious. The weather was perfect. The Hiwassee River was clear and cold. The crowd did not show up and I only saw 6 folks out fishing. A light breeze kept us cool when the sun got high. I did not loose one Rooster Tail all day. My waders didn’t leak and I didn’t fall in . We got a late start and didn’t get on the river until 9:30. The fish quit biting at 9 so we didn’t catch a thing......BUT......My fishing buddy and I had a great day today. Lesson learned: It ain’t always about the fish!!1 point

Individuals don't tend to think things through when they are busy or emotionally invested. Security experts continually drive home the message that you should never click on a link or open a file that is either in an unexpected email or text, yet time and time again people do it and subject either their selves or their company to ransomware.1 point

Membership is $35 a year. Everyone should be paying this to support this site and all the efforts that are put into it, anyway. The way the world is working against us, putting some things behind a paywall may not be such a bad idea, especially such a reasonably priced one that supports a great cause/site.1 point

I'm sorry. Lone voice of dissent here. If you can't smell these scams from a mile away, then I have some ocean front property in Arizona.... These PMs are a slight nuisance, but I have always thought haggling and bartering was best done in PMs, not in the thread. Without the ability to PM, you get people offering trades that could just as easily be viewed as bypassing Purchasing benefactor status. Either way is fine. The fact that you ask for input is another monument to the real community of this site. Thanks!1 point

I’m for it. this happened to me a few months back. I posted a wanted add in the gun sale forum and got 2 PM’s from brand new members telling me “such and such guy can get this for you from New York City....etc....” I deleted and didn’t even reply.1 point
