  1. About like the one I have, but mine is more line of sight, not a big issue for me.

  2. I used 5 motion activated driveway sensors programmed to one receiver. They are placed in select locations around the property with different alert tones so I know which way to look. Critters don't really cause any problems with false alerts. They have been very effective.

  3. Got the chance to go and shoot some this afternoon. Took my S W Mdl 317 8 shot 22 Revolver and my M P 9MM Ez out. Shot the revolver double action only and of course the EZ only fires with the trigger pull. I wanted to run some more rounds through the EZ (400 now) to make sure it is reliable. Will put another 100 or so, but it has fired everything so far. Arthritis has caused my index finger, dominant hand, to roll over slightly and after a 100 some odd rounds started wearing a blister on my first joint so I quit. Never experienced this before. Other than that had a good outing. Growing older is not for sissies.

  5. The state of Tennessee has a ton of listings, I've never seen a middle manager do less.

  6. Any thoughts on where I can find one of those middle manager jobs with no work and little responsibility? Hopefully one where I can just hide out all day ... The Peter Principle applies to many scenarios in the workplace ...

  7. Literally worked for a place that it was three of us running the shop. We responded to accounting, the owner and the bean counter. One of the partners decided we had "too much freedom" and gave a management position to a friend from church. Dude made more than all us, constantly had some of the worst ideas imaginable (save for a replacement bin rack, he was a good engineer, garbage supervisor) and tried to run the shop in a way that constantly failed (we did things like he wanted, they just didnt work due to the type of business and scheduling we ran). We all quit after a while and he was fired a month after we all left. Sadly, this wasnt the first time I left a place because someone unqualified was put in a position of power.

  8. I am amazed we do not have morw bridge collapses in general. Lots of them are way past their prime and have much more traffic than they were designed for. Even newly build ones probably suffer from the same corner cutting I saw in construction. 10% less rebar is more prifi6t

  9. That’s not what I meant. I was referring to middle managers being surplus as superfluous outside of the in office dynamic. That massive of a re-organization of how business is done will lead to the discovery that some positions just aren’t that valuable.

  12. Mark my words. We’ve not seen the fallout from that yet. But we’re going to. And I’ll bet real money it’s going to be me and you bailing out a bunch of billionaire real estate investors from their paper losses that somehow threaten to tank the entire economy.

  13. I can’t build a bridge from the house, so I guess I’d opt for the 30k. A lot of folks are finding they can work from home, however, and I think that’ll increase as time goes on. I’d sure hate to be invested heavily in commercial real estate right now. I’m not sure how that’ll work out.

  14. That additional $30k could max a 401(k) at $19.5k, an HSA at $3.6k ($7.2k for family), and have money leftover. Wonder how many who get the opportunity to take it would be thinking like that.

  15. I would take the money, sock the extra away on top of whatever else I was already putting in a 401, 403, 457 or whatever plan, and move my prospective retirement date up. The bonus would effectively shorten my obligation to work fulltime, giving me more options as to whether continue working in that job, another, or not at all ...

  17. I would take the 30k. I'm hourly and subject to call. If I get a call from anyone in the company and they asked a work related question, I get 3 hours of OT.

  18. I've been saying for years that this country's infrastructure was in major need of an overhaul. I'm actually kinda happy Biden is interested in this. But, like every other democratic proposal, they want to pass a bill to spend trillions of dollars and maybe 10% of it will actually go for the intended purpose. All the rest will be used to fund the totally unrelated liberal wish list.
