BE WARNED: SCAMMERS ARE ACTIVELY WORKING AGAINST THE GUN COMMUNITY ON TGO AND OTHER INTERNET FORUMS IN THE BUY/SELL/TRADE AREAS. Folks, lately we have seen a significant uptick in scam attempts that go like this: You post an ad for an item for sale or wanted. A scammer contacts you about the item you are selling or looking for and offers to put you in contact with a friend or relative in Texas or some other state. Throughout the whole thing, your Spidey Sense is tingling and telling you it seems suspicious... because it is! We strongly recommend that you stick to dealing with local Tennessee residents only and that you use forms of payment that are guaranteed, secured, and cannot be retracted once the sale completes. For example, you don't want to sell someone something via Venmo or PayPal, only to have them reverse the charge later after they have possession of what you were selling. TGO remains a great place to buy and sell privately, but please be cautious and smart. And please do not hesitate to report anything suspicious to us! On behalf of myself, @MacGyver and the moderating team - thanks and be safe.4 points

The disturbing trend in violent crime encounters is multiple bad guys and girls. Not likely to have time to reload a revolver and figure a minimum of 2 seconds for a pistol, if you're good, practice continuously and not entangled / fending off. And a Tom Givens-ism: a high capacity pistol is not so you can shoot more, it is so you have to reload less. Depending on environment and attire, I will carry a single stack (and a back up) but prefer a full size or compact equivalent for EDC (with a back up) In a society where criminals are emboldened due to the political landscape, do you want to be less armed?4 points

Advance Auto has a sale going on right now: 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 synthetic oil and a Mobil 1 filter for $34.99. That ain’t bad.3 points

IMO, the population is being "conditioned" right now. The death scare first, then your money will be on the level of toilet paper next and that put the ability to feed the population third and back around to the death thing again. Its all about making the population scream "uncle" and with that, any "rights" you thought you had been given threw the US constitution is all but forgotten garbage just like changing the voting rules as so given by said document. My heart goes out to those young new families with children. It will be a killer to see them suffer and thats all part of the plan...... "Uncle"..... sam is not who/what folks think any more.3 points

There is A LOT of evidence out there about these jabs, you just have to be willing to find it and read it yourself. If one is waiting for the 6 O'Clock news to tell them what they need to know, then that person is already lost. Thats the problem we are facing as a society, nobody thinks for themselves anymore. Too hard. I'll just accept what the talking head tells me, and forget that it contradicts what the talking head said last year. We've always been at war with eastasia. Orwell was right.3 points

The 1918 "Spanish Flu": Only The Vaccinated Died - Sal Martingano https://citizenfreepress.com/column-3/professor-of-molecular-genetics-issues-chilling-warning-on-covid-mrna-vaccines/ BS? maybe. My PA has all ready said he will give me Ivermectine, Doxycycline if I get it. Why swallow a possible ticking time bomb. Treat it & 5-6 days latter forget it.3 points

Back when I was young and good at shooting handguns, I carried a 10mm with 8. I was relying on my skill at shooting targets. Now that I'm older and quite a bit better at shooting, I run 19 rounds in the mag.2 points

I do not think so. That is why I switched my from Kahr PM45. I didn’t think 7 rounds was enough. I switched to a glock 48. With the shield arms mags I now carry 15+1 in a single stack frame. Works great for me.2 points

Synthetic is all I use in my vehicles. My work vehicle just turned 410k miles. One owner, I change it every 10-15k miles. I made that decision after having a couple samples tested by an oil analysis. That's about the range I felt comfortable pushing it too. Good oil and a good filter and let it ride.2 points

Not a caliber war. Just a question about the times and whether a small single stack of revolver is enough.1 point

I haven't found anyone can beat Wal-Mart on oil prices, at least for what I buy. I run Mobile 1 Full Synthetic-high mileage. Supposedly, the high mileage recipe has something in it to help the old gaskets. My 2002 Tundra doesn't leak a single drop of oil.1 point

I have a 2002 Trail blazer we purchased for my daughter 10 years ago. She let me have it back when she got anew 4 runner and it has only had synthetic blend oil in it for 234000. Does not use a drop of oil in an in line 6 cylinder. Good stuff, but I will also say we have much cleaner burning gas today. I do hate the alcohol!!!!1 point

I'm sure that's next, they are getting desperate to continue giving shots, commercials on the radio, TV, probably print too, saying no appointment necessary, no line, no waiting, no priority restrictions, etc. They aren't making as much as they hoped on this I guess.1 point

I have 1.5 acres of alfalfa. It's been in the ground for 4 years and I'll probably replant it next year. It's fantastic, but needs have a lot of lime added. The deer use it most of the year. They stop around the rut. I just planted 3 acres of field corn. I've had deer try and run me off from the corn field. Small portions can be bush hoged throughout the season if you want to attract deer more heavily. They use this from just before bow season till January. I'm trying a 1/2 acre of cowpeas this year next to the pumpkin patch. Soybeans went bad for me. You need an electric fence to keep the deer out until the plant is big enough that it can tolerate browsing.1 point

I’ve changed my own oil since the 90s after a dealership left my oil filler cap on top of the engine. I change approximately every 5k and have used nothing but synthetic on my 06 Tacoma and the wife’s 13 4runner. Maybe overkill, but boy the oil is blacker after 5k than after 2k. I guess I’m just too old school to let it go 10k. The Taco is a joy to change the oil; the filter on the 4runner is a royal PITA. $89 for a 5 qt oil change sounds like robbery. The local Toyota dealership wants $72 for a 6.5 qt synthetic oil change on the 4runner, and even that sounds expensive to me.1 point

I tried eating gar last year and now it's the main fish I try to catch. The skin is hard as plastic and you need tin-snips to cut it open. After you get it open there are 2 long boneless loins on each side of the back. No need to gut it or skin it. The meat is odorless and firm like chicken. It's like alligator and I love it !!! This Gar was 3 feet long and both loins were around 15 inches long and nice and thick.1 point

Honestly, when we’re catching fish - I’m just thrilled to be catching fish. We’ve had as much fun seeing what we pull up on a Sabikii rig as we do pulling in giant bull reds. My youngest and I have had a contest for the last few years when we fish in the surf to see who can catch the smallest fish within 5 feet of the shoreline. We use tiny tiny hooks and have caught some no larger than the nail on your little finger. It’s a blast. Gotta have a lot of them to make a taco though.1 point

I've had several cheap ones and no expensive ones. The cheap ones have worked fine for me. I've had 5,7,8, and 12 foot nets. The smaller ones are much easier to throw for me. Interesting things I've caught - 4 pound largemouth - about 20 tilapia in a single cast at GSP. - about 10 white bass in a cast. Honestly, if I'm on bait, I have as much fun with a cast net as I do catching big fish.1 point
-
Biggest large mouth I ever caught was with a 10 foot cast net, yes I let it go. I have lost 2 nets getting hung up on the unseen bottom. Practice, Practice, Practice, then when you get good Practice some more, as Greg said, in the yard before the water.1 point

Those are definitely niche knives. It looks like most of his Damascus is a VG-10 core - which is a good, serviceable steel. It's going to be harder to sharpen than most knives you're used to. For me, function defines form on a knife. If I'm being frank, I just don't see one of these as an EDC type knife. If I'm going to spend more than $1000 on a knife - and truthfully I can't even think of a scenario where that would be the case - I'd go with a maker I know personally and commission something that's one of a kind. If I wanted to spend several hundred on knives right now - Rick Hinderer would need to do a run of XM-24 Skinners. Or, I'd go with a custom kitchen set from someone like https://www.leucadiaknives.com.1 point

The 2A is all about defending against a Tyrannical Government, if it were only 10 of them then yes, 10 rounds would do, but alas we all need at least 100 round drums.1 point

And bucking the trend as usual: I've always thought six in a revolver is plenty, and revolvers are darned near jamb-proof. And I often carry a .45ACP with 7. I've always thought that THE perfect self-defense weapon is a pump-action 12g. Anyone who hears that distinctive ker-chunk and keeps on coming deserves what will happen next. Hard to conceal, though.....0 points

I've used synthetic oil beginning in the 90s. I had a mechanical engineer tell me I was wasting money by using synthetic. I couldn't help but remind him of that as I took him to pick up his Toyota after the engine was replaced.0 points
