  1. I will say it. Quit being cheap asses and support a site that you come to in order to get the information you NEED, but yet you aren't willing to spend $35 to be a benefactor? Do you smoke, drink, drink coffee, or just have a hobby? Maybe I am way off base, but I waste $35 on week on stupid ####. You get a whole year. Quit being cheap! If you value the service, invest a small bit in it so it is here in the future when you need it again. Or maybe go somewhere else and find it. It pisses me off to no end to see people bitch about spending $35 but they don't flinch to spend $1000 on a new phone.

  2. I’d say here, But it’s also got a paywall for the classifieds. This is one of those moments that I think it’s appropriate to remind folks of an immutable law of the Internet. If you aren’t paying for a service, you aren’t the customer. You’re the product.

  3. If you decide to go out fishing in St. Augustine I can whole heartedly recommend Endless Summer Fishing Charters and the guys on Endless Summer 3. https://www.facebook.com/EndlessSummerChartersOfStAugustine/ Went about 50 to 60 miles out with them the last time I was down there. It was a bottom fishing trip mostly and we targeted water roughly 80 to 150 ft deep. We got tired of catching fish. It was doubles or something big every drop. We pulled in Barracuda, Cobia, Mahi, Grouper, Snapper, Trigger, nurse and hammerhead sharks. It was well in excess of 200lbs of cleaned and processed fish split between the 6 of us even after giving most of the Triggers to the crew. I enjoy surf fishing as well but it is hard to beat a good deep water trip.

  4. I've said it before and I'm saying it again: Those people are stealing. No one is entitled to the fruit of someone else's labor. Someone spent time and money to provide that service to the gun community. Whether you like them or their practices or not, they get to set the rules for their service and the rules are that people pay a fee to sell or trade. It burns me up that people think this sort of petty theft is OK. I also question the sanity of dealing with a seller who will steal a few dollars from a business. If they're willing to rob the website of pocket change, are they going to be more willing to rob me of a couple hundred dollars in a parking lot when I go to meet them to buy the gun? Are they going to be more willing to misrepresent the quality of the item or hide something about it that I will later wish I'd known about in advance? Probably so! If a person is willing to steal from someone else, there's no reason to assume they will suddenly be honorable with you. It's probably dying, at least in part, due to the fact that they don't enforce their policies very well. As people freeload off of them, it deprives them of operating capital. Without operating capital, a business eventually shuts down because they can't pay their employees, pay their bills or make a profit. They aren't running a charity.

  8. I have to replace some fence at my mother’s house soon and shopped lumber this weekend. I was pleasantly surprised. Treated 2x4x8s were only $7.50 or so and a 4x4x8 post was $15. They had some 6 foot treated pickets that looked a lot better than any other treated pickets I’ve seen in the last 15 years and they were $2.67 each. I was happy with what I found overall because a friend told me to expect $10 2x4s and another friend told me to expect an empty lumber section. The job will cost about $600, which is twice what it would have been not too long ago, but it could be worse.

  9. I've had an extremely good experience buying and selling right here. Met a few nice folks, too. The volume of ads is not such that you'll find every obscure or specialized thing you might be wanting unless you wait a long time, but interesting items show up daily. And if you're selling a decent quality firearm at a far price, you'll likely find a ready buyer. Now, one of you go buy that M&P 45 that I have listed. Cheers, Whisper

  12. As often as I am able to get out shooting these days, especially with current ammo availability issues, this has become my most utilized gun. The trigger is horrible and it won't group worth a damn but my four legged shadow does not seem to mind. Who else is rocking the K9 Kannon? The rounds are dirt cheap and available just about everywhere!

  19. The people listing items for sale are paying for that privilege. Armslist is making money off of them. I have no problem with that at all. Some sellers have found that putting in a phone number greatly increases their chance for a sale. I see nothing wrong with that either. What I and many others are pissed about is that Armslist wants us to pay to buy from their ads. As Old Iron pointed out, would you pay to walk into a store to spend your money? Many times I've been curious about an item and just wanted to ask the seller a question or two. But Armslist wants me to pay just to do that? Nope, not me! So yeah, if I can buy something I want off Armslist without having to give in to their blackmail, I'll do it in a heartbeat. No problem at all.

  21. Or they could set it up like nearly every online marketplace or auction site. You know like just about every newspaper or circular that ever existed in the paper and ink days. The seller pays the bills. If you want your ad listed you pay for that service. If it is an auction site you may even pay a fee based on the sales price. The entity/service has a responsibility to bring the buyer to the market. If there are no buyers being brought to the marketplace they will soon run out of sellers willing to pay the fees due to not providing a worthwhile service to those vendors. If I had to pay a fee to walk into Kroger I would take my business down the street to Publix. That is one of the reasons I don't have a Costco or Sam's membership. I am not paying someone to enter their retail business to pay for merchandise they are making a profit on. Places like gun broker and ebay are doing just fine without requiring buyers to pay to shop. I have no issue with having to establish an account or registration, again like pretty much every online marketplace or auction site, but I am not paying a fee to do so. If I wish to sell or list I will certainly pay a fee if I feel the service I am paying for is worthwhile.

  24. It varies. Attachment points can be purchased afterwards or included depending on what you select. Different manufacturers have differing options. The rifle attachment points must match the ones on the sling and are purchased separately. If you decide to go with standard button style QD swivels, I recommend ensuring that they are easily removable/replaceable. Otherwise if the QD point breaks, the sling is broken as well. QD swivels absolutely do wear out and break so ya don’t want to end up having to replace an expensive sling for a $5 part.

  25. I'm about as old school as you can get and have always considered a sling a must have on most any kind of rifle. I prefer the simple 2 point sling. I'd guess that probably 95% of my rifles have a sling. Regardless of action type or purpose. Most of mine are set up for simple over the shoulder carry and adjusted for the simple old arm wrap shooting position. I own one AR and its set up for a 2 point front carry. Just like in the video. However, I never really considered the quick adjustment thing this guy shows. I think I'll work on that. I do own a 9mm AR pistol style PDW. Its the only thing I've ever found to work with a single point set up. Its small size does work better with this. But It also has QD swivels just in case.

  26. Handguns are hard to shoot well. They take a lot of continuing practice to maintain proficiency. Without it, the skill perishes quickly. Rifles are much easier and more intuitive to shoot. With their 4 points of contact, basic skills are much longer lasting. I don’t get to practice a whole lot because of being gone so often. Every time I get to shoot and train I feel like I’m struggling to reacquire the most basic level of proficiency to even feel comfortable carrying a gun at all. I hate it.

  32. We had a spring based version that had limited range, 20 to 25 yards, and was poorly built. It started breaking itself with the force of the spring. This one is based on heavy rubber like bands instead of a metal spring. It shoots softer and better. It will easily clear 25 to 30 yards, closer to 40 with the bounce. My guy likes to catch it mid air on the first or second bounce, with a leap if he can get it in. Such a show off. He will chase it till he falls over sideways if I don't cut off playtime. 70 lbs of poodle making a leaping mid air snag is hilarious. I wish I had an 1/8 of his energy.

  33. When I was a kid, I had breakfast at some civic affair that my Boy Scout troop help usher - or at least that’s how I remember it. I wound up sitting at a table that included both Truett Cathey and Dave Thomas. They were both incredibly kind to a kid who was maybe 16 years old. But they imparted some wisdom to me that day that I’ve never forgotten. They were talking about the early days of Chick-fil-a and Wendy’s. They talked about sending folks to work at McDonald’s to figure out how they did stuff. One of them told me, “if our people had come back and told us that the McDonald’s people were hanging from their toes while making the fries, we would have had our employees hanging from their toes making fries.” The other one told me, “have something that makes you special, but if your competitor is doing something well, learn from them.” I watched those two men - who truthfully were fierce competitors - talk about the things the other did well and what they’d learned from one another. I’ve never forgotten that.

  38. Once it goes on the registry - it's an NFA item from then on out unless you go through the process to take it off the registry. It doesn't really matter if it (the upper) has been pinned and welded or not. If (the lower) was registered as an SBR - it needs a form 4. If you're talking about buying a rifle from a shop that isn't already an NFA item and has a pinned and welded upper - then it's not a SBR and a regular 4473 would be fine.

  41. Man, I hate to read about you losing your ARs. I wish there was a way you could transfer them here to Tennessee for safekeeping until you move. Sort of like people who live in California but store their guns with friends in Arizona until they are able to flee. At least you can buy new ones when you get here. If you don't wait too many years, that is -- President Xiden is likely to try some more gun grabs before the end of his term. Good luck, Whisper

  42. Hahah @RED333, I hear ya. Thats why I posted Herr Schumann's picture! Rode my bike across the Rainbow Bridge (Niagara Falls) when I was a teen. By myself! My only ID was a library card! Even if my passport was current, I couldn't go. Sad times. Over a fake pandemic... I honestly take solace in the fact things are accelerating and moving more quickly now. Its how you KNOW the time is getting closer! Buckle up buckaroos!

  46. I have no doubt that all the emphasis on electrical grids, solar panels and the like will increase demand for copper. Another reason for increased copper prices is the reopening of the economy. Copper prices are considered an excellent leading indicator of economic activity, at the end of recessions copper always rises dramatically before settling back in to a more "normal" price. As prices rise, mines are opened back up, recycling increases, and prices come back into down as demand and supply eventually reach equilibrium ...

  47. I thought pretty much the same thing, and stated that several times on here in 2013. I was wrong ... Doubtful. While I don't doubt that retail ammo prices have been depressed the last couple of years, mostly from overproduction and a slight lessening of demand, manufacturers have really good accountants who can do cost analysis to the point that they know exactly what each round costs at every stage of production and distribution. If the true cost of ammo was much higher than it was selling for, you would have seen a gradual rise in retail prices, especially for the more popular calibers, most of which run at pretty much full production all the time ...
