You guys have way more faith in our current crop of politicians than I do. I sure hope you all are right.4 points

Ok this ain't about the trial, Floyd, or anything political at all. So just don't go there. My question is just how can a person be tried for the death of one person and end up convicted on THREE separate death related charges? Second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. I would think the jury could pick one based on the evidence. But how can a person be guilty of three different kinds of murder when only one person died? Somebody explain this to me?3 points

NSFW - Seen this on another site, had a good laugh and had to share. Reminds me of Deliverance for some reason!3 points

They charge them with all counts they think they can prove. The jury can find them guilty or not guilty on all of the charges, so it is possible he would have only been found guilty of the least charge. It's so they don't have to have three cases, etc (which they can't do as explained below). The prosecution has to prove things to different levels for each of them. For example, first degree murder requires premeditation. 2nd degree doesn't, so if the jury didn't think someone premeditated the murder, they could still convict them on 2nd degree and not first. Each has different sentencing options and guidelines in most cases. You also don't do them each separately because you can't try someone for the same crime twice. So if they only charged someone with first degree murder and that person wasn't convicted, they can't come back and charge you with second.3 points

We use Kenwood radios with 2 wire ear piece /push to talk systems very similar to Davids above https://www.kenwood.com/usa/com/lmr/tk-2402v_3402u/ If we had the money to replace them, there are much more compact radios now available that utilize the above wiring system. I believe they are actually cheaper.2 points

And one more thing—a small town was specifically chosen to keep the cost of the experiment lower. The government aka the rest of the population (who didn’t win the sweepstakes) funded it, so who would pay the bill if this were implemented on a large scale? I think it was Margaret Thatcher who said the problem with communism is that sooner or later you run out of someone else’s money.2 points

So my new AR-15 arrived (finally) after being lost in the FedEx package backlog from the winter storms. It is a left handed build with a Stag Arms upper and a PSA lower. Only iron sights at the moment. Trying to decide on a reddot or other optic. I can’t wait to get to the range.1 point

Well, that's an excellent idea. whether we're talking about the Floyd homicide, the price of tea in China, or the sun rising in the east.1 point

SB 1148 made it out of Senate Judiciary tonight, finally. Should pass full Senate, just not sure what day it will be up.1 point

I imagine two of the three will be thrown out on appeal, thus the stacking of charges.1 point

I doubt there's any bill, pending or otherwise, that allow one to wave a gun at a bus load of kids, even when standing on your own property. She's about to be a perfect example of the "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" maxim ...1 point

I've been wondering about that myself. How many murder convictions can one get from the same crime?1 point

I’ve been a fan of this kid for a while now. Zach Bryan is active duty Navy, and doing things independently. No label deal, mostly just releasing his songs as YouTube videos. He writes some of the most personal and heartfelt lyrics. If you’re a fan of country music and worry for its future because Nashville has been putting out trash for a long while. Don’t worry. Country music is still the music of the common men and women who will always show up to tel all of our stories with three chords and the truth. Folks like Zach who just made his Opry debut this past Saturday.1 point

Almost my experience. I fell asleep at 3-something A.M. with my head against the wall near the toilet. At some point I was really wondering where it was all coming from.1 point

Baofeng radios can generally be programmed to use analog. I haven't tried them with digital yet. With them you're talking about a radio that generally costs less than $100 per. Yes, we use surveillance headsets like these. This is the one I use, personally: Klein Patriot K1. You have to be careful to order the one that works with your radio's style of connector, though.1 point

Business-band digital radio, if your church is willing to spend the money or has a donor who will front the small cost of the FCC license for you. It's really not that expensive and it keeps your communications from being easily eavesdropped upon. Business-band analog works also, but it's easy to find with a scanner and then be privy your team communications. This site has put together a pretty good overview of it. http://businessradiolicensing.com/applications/fee/1 point

I have no doubt that all the emphasis on electrical grids, solar panels and the like will increase demand for copper. Another reason for increased copper prices is the reopening of the economy. Copper prices are considered an excellent leading indicator of economic activity, at the end of recessions copper always rises dramatically before settling back in to a more "normal" price. As prices rise, mines are opened back up, recycling increases, and prices come back into down as demand and supply eventually reach equilibrium ...1 point

More than once my shipment has been held up in Smyrna TN on the surepost. As a matter fact I have something coming from them right now that is sitting in Smyrna. I cringe every time this happens. Some things I get in two days. One item it took almost 2 weeks to get from Smyrna to Harriman.1 point

That's awesome! Yes, my old girl is getting a bit slower and we go occasionally without her, which is really sad. 8 nights in GC. That's pretty darn good. Multi-day treks are another level.1 point

I am sure this will be seen as Racist by some, but why don't we see the same level of shootings in other "poor" areas. There are plenty of poor areas in the US. The "socio" is more of a problem than the "poor".1 point

I've noticed this recently also. I've not only seen people in mask mandated stores without them, but they're ignoring social distancing rules as well. People are piling up in the checkout lines right behind each other just like the old days. I guess its due to the vaccinations. People are mistakenly thinking they're safe now.1 point

Good lesson here. I don't even talk to friends about how many guns I own. I don't like people to know when we're on vacation. When we have people over I make sure valuables(we don't have many ) are out of sight and guns are put away. Basically, the less people know, the better.1 point

Been here less than a year. Post when I feel like I should. Try to stay out of the dog house with other members. I have only made on purchase from another member and had no issues whatsoever. In the few months I've been a member I have seen a change myself in the members both new and established. I believe it is a sign of the time we are in. Everyone is nervous and edgy, there is very little trust and zero tolerance. If I am buying I expect to go to where the seller is or chooses. If I am uncomfortable, I would just back out. Some seem to believe they should just not show. As for sales,,,I'm not selling. Every gun I have sold save one I want back. And even that one I believe could have been repaired. I made one deal and asked the man who is local if he would like to meet at the Sherriff's office or police dept. He told me to come to his house. I was a little nervous but went anyway. I met a very nice man, older than myself. he showed me his house his radio controlled airplanes, his HAM equipment. I met his dog, saw a room with many arms. we talked for about an hour and a half. One never knows. mutual respect needs to be restored or society is doomed.1 point

Hear ya' all. Possibly the. current prices and availability are the future of the shooting hobby (for the very rich only) Who needs restrictive gun laws with prices like these? Am currently exhausting my reloading supplies and then will ration my remaining loads as if they have to last the rest of my life...possibly so?? The good news is that I am pretty old1 point
