It's not Constitutional Carry but Permitless Carry. But you aren't wrong.3 points

Our gun laws here in Tennessee are starting to remind me of the obfuscation the ATF uses. How in the world can anyone expect the average NON HCP citizen to understand what and where they can legally carry? The state has committed a disservice to Tennesseans by calling this 'Constitutional Carry'. As a 'gun guy', many of friends expect me to be able to give good advice on this crap, and lord its hard to keep up, lol. If anyone has the time and knowledge, it would be useful to create a downloadable chart that depicts in easy to read columns, the places and what one can carry with one column being HCP holders and the other being the co-called Constitutional Carry persons. I don't understand it enough to do that.3 points

Sorry, I didn't quote both of his responses, in the second response he clearly indicated he had an enhanced permit. So he's always been able to carry both openly and concealed with that permit.2 points

https://mg34.com/product/home-parkerizing-kit-manganese/ It is a fairly simple process. Just make sure your metal finish is even and clean. When you blast make sure you do not have texture differences across the surface (too little or too much blasting in one concentrated area). Handle the part with nitrile gloves out of the blast cabinet and get a good wash in acetone or denatured alcohol to make sure all media and oil are off the parts. Dip in oil after you pull it and rinse it from the mag phos solution. If it is non stainless / ferrous steel you should be able to get a nice fairly deep matte black. I have done a few barrels and some old steel scope rings with good results.2 points

Wrong. The concealed handgun carry permit introduced last year requires the handgun be concealed at all times. The enhanced carry permit allows open carry.2 points

Nothing really. If you want to carry in other states who recognize a Tennessee permit, you sill still meed it. I have a lifetime permit.2 points

Does nothing for me. Had my permit since you could get them and i have no intentions of letting it expire. Keep in mind CC in TN doesn't carry reciprocity to another state so if you travel and want to carry you'll need a permit. At least that's how I understand it.2 points

The Elder gentleman (Tom Tigue) that for years we the go to Attorney at the legislature suggested that 39-11-611 needed to be cleaned up as the older language in our self defense Statue said if you were not engaged in criminal activity as a limiting factor, but jay walking and parked on the wrong side of the street are actually crimes...this cleans it up. Will it make it out, I do not know, but it should. If Rep. Beck does not like it, it is a good thing normally. https://studio.youtube.com/video/4sGGa2sge1A/edit1 point

Hear ya' all. Possibly the. current prices and availability are the future of the shooting hobby (for the very rich only) Who needs restrictive gun laws with prices like these? Am currently exhausting my reloading supplies and then will ration my remaining loads as if they have to last the rest of my life...possibly so?? The good news is that I am pretty old1 point

I just hope the hipsters don't learn about lengua and do to it what they have done to pork belly. If I have to pay a premium for my tacos de lengua I am going to be one unhappy white boy.1 point

Yeah you absolutely filed your sight at an angle. There is a chance that your sight will end up breaking, depending on how much you shoot, but it probably won't. for future reference next time don't use a file. Use some sandpaper on a flat surface and work the sight applying pressure straight down from the top.1 point

Has to do with Fiscal Review, Todd's bill would have gone behind the budget if it had been run prior to the Governor's bill being passed, which has the $2.5 or so in lost revenue covered, so now this second bill can not be killed simply over money. It has to be killed on the merits. Watch Leader Lambert's comment on 1388 in Criminal Sub yesterday, done correctly he said, and, he appreciated it being vetted in committee instead of as an amendment on the floor, (where Todd had one there that did exactly the same thing). I do not think it has a chance of making it out of Full Criminal Justice, but it would be really nice if it did, just to get a count of votes on the floor. Gamesmanship! Here is the presentation of that clean up bill1 point

You are correct, even they did not realize it, the whole thing is hard to keep up with, but you are 100% correct. That is going to be a problem from magistrates in Davidson and Shelby county reading it that their take is that any park requires a permit to be legally present, we will need a AG's opinion for those areas.1 point

This just shows the level of disfunction in Government. They just passed this bill, which isn't clear at all, and now they are already working on a "clean up" bill. Why is it so difficult to get it right the first time?1 point

I had bad experiences with water wells so I don't like them. The pumps may have improved, but in my experience, several years ago, ours was on the blink every storm the blew through it seemed. I had 2, one in the well and one on top of the ground from a cistern. Both were problematic. I have a drilled well at my house now and it has water within 15 FT from the top and it is 95 ft deep. I have never put a pump in it. Edited to add; My daughter just purchased a horse farm and she has 2 wells on it. One, at the house, can be pumped dry in 15 min. She is forced to do her activities over a period of time, It also has Sulfur in it. The other runs constantly and feeds the horses and horse barn and Trailer. It got cloudy during all the rain we just had, so that tells me it is stream fed. She purchases bottled water to drink and cook with. Both froze up this year so we have had to put heat bulbs in the well houses and keep them lit 24 hrs per day during the winter. Both have excellent well houses. Like I said I don't like dealing with wells at my age.1 point

They did have several powders on the shelf but, I didn't see any IMR4895. I like it too, so was looking for it and others I use. I did see a few IMR powders though.1 point

I had well water my whole life and if you get a good well, you will never want city water. The funny thing about wells up north and here is up in the northern mountains where I'm from, the water table strictly flows in veins. Anyone drilling a new well without it being dowsed (located) first is a fool with more money than brains. Down here I dowsed my spot and put a stake in the exact spot. The old guy that drilled it scoffed at drilling on a dowzers find and said it was just as likely to find a coal patch than water. Here on the plateau, the lime stone thats everywhere is so fractured, that the driller would just pick any ol depression where there's a water run off. I watched more than a few wells being drilled in the north and thats the last place a driller would drill only if the dowsing rods said no water in the area. We had Donald Wood (nationaly renouned) dowse a couple wells and I had the chance to pick his brain on how he finds out things like How Deep, How many GPM and what quality the water is going to be? He's dead now from old age but I got some jewels from him that day.... God bless him.1 point

No. The new law does not take effect until July 1st, after the Governor signs it.1 point

If you are a little tech savvy and want a fun project, put together a Pi-Hole DNS server for your home. It runs on one of those raspberry Pi mini computers (they are just fun to have no matter what) that cost maybe $50. You don't even need the latest greatest Raspberry Pi either, it will run fine on previous gen hardware. Here are the basics: The Internet runs on IP addresses. We humans can't remember them, but we can remember words. So for example, XYZ.com has an IP address behind it. We use DNS servers to convert friendly words that make up a website name into the ip address that is behind that name. So, when I type in xyz.com, your computer talks to the DNS server that you have configured, and asks that DNS server what IP address to use. All this happens under the covers of your computer and you never even have to think about it. What the Pi-Hole does is it becomes your DNS server, so to speak. It has a very long list of web site names in it that are on a blacklist. If your browser tries to query DNS (the Pi-hole) for the IP address of a site on the black list, the DNS server returns back an empty value. This means your browser will not display that bit of the web page. It could be the whole web page (say a malicious site, or perhaps something you don't want your kids looking at), or it could just be an ad that is displayed in a frame of the web page. Any web site that is not in the black list, the Pi-Hole will forward that query on to another DNS server out in the Internet somewhere. It could just be your ISP's DNS server, that you are probably using today, or you can pick from a list of others that may offer you yet another layer of security. What ends up happening is thousands of web requests are just dropped as your computer makes these queries for IP addresses. It saves you bandwidth, but more importantly, you get way less ads in your browser, and relative to this thread, you block many of these tracking sites. It always surprises me when I visit a web page of a site I go to frequently, and I'm not protected by my Pi-Hole. The pages look completely different because of all the ads. There is really nice dashboard that you can view on the Pi-Hole, and what an eyeopener it is. Mine is blocking crap 24 hours a day, thousands per hour. I kid you not. Crap you wouldn't even think about, like Alexa, or your Roku, or your cell phone, YOUR TV, are all talking to something all day long.1 point

3.4 million background checks ran in February. Not sure "hoarding" is the complete answer here. I'll give you that there are people buying for resale, and that some people are buying for their "needs/desires." Even we here. We stockpile. We prepare for any eventuality(hopefully anyway). We "Prep" for disaster But as I've said before. Millions more buyers in the last 2 years. That absolutely effects the amount of ammo available to the masses.1 point

TGO has unfortunately, from time to time, been visited by those who lack morals and ethics and would like to take advantage of the good graces and trusting nature of our fine members. This activity almost always seems to increase when social conditions are turbulent, especially if the turbulence is centered around the ability to find and buy guns or ammo. Lately we have had to boot a few people who were exhibiting suspicious behavior. We want you to be aware of this fact and to be sure to check a person's status on TGO before you commit to doing business with them as either the seller or the buyer. This is especially true if the other person encourages you to take communication with them "off the forum" and to email or some sort of instant messaging service. Before you buy or sell: Look to see whether they have have an active account or if they've been banned since you started talking to them. If you are going to meet to conduct business, do it during daylight hours and in a heavily trafficked, very public, neutral meeting place. Don't invite people to your home. Don't agree to meet people at theirs. MOST police and sheriff's stations have space at their parking lot where you can meet for selling and buying with strangers. Other good places are parking lots of busy business and in sight of their security cameras. Trust your gut instincts whether just when communicating online or meeting in person. If something feels "off" or "weird" - trust your gut. Feel free to involve me, @MacGyver, @Chucktshoes or one of the other moderators in a private conversation with the other party, or just contact us off to the side if you have concerns. Some of the suspicious activity that we've seen includes: People answering a Want To Buy ad claiming to have what you want, or that they know a friend or family member who does, and offering to broker an exchange between you and them. When it is fraudulent, this sort of thing often quickly becomes ridiculously complex and harder than it should be to do a simple transaction. Your warning senses should start tingling. We insist that people never list an item for sale for a friend on TGO for a reason. First Person is simpler, easier and often safer. People asking if you will ship a gun to them out of state or if you require proof of residency. Shipping a gun out of state always requires that you send it to an FFL in that state. An in-person buyer has to be a resident of your state. Again, heed your warning senses. People asking you to send money to them via PayPal "Friends and Family". Remember, first of all PayPal doesn't allow you to pay for guns and certain other things with their service. If you do and you get hosed on a deal, you may have no protection with PayPal. Second, sending money via Friends and Family saves the recipient a measly 3% charge but it also means you get zero protection via PayPal if the other person hoses you. Strangers insisting that they meet you after dark, or at a remote location, or at your house or theirs. This is a big NO. Don't do this. People asking if they can send a friend to pick up a gun from you instead of meeting you themselves. This is also a big NO. It can quickly become an illegal "straw purchase". Again, trust your gut instincts. You have them for a reason. It's safer to heed them and risk offending a person than it is to ignore them and end up the victim of a scam or worse. And always, always contact me, @MacGyver, @Chucktshoes or another moderator if you are concerned and just want a second opinion. We're glad to help. Stay safe out there!1 point
