Once again the Republican leadership has resisted doing the right thing with all their might. At least this way we know who in the government actually read their oath of office and will stand behind it. Someone please point to anywhere in the US or TN Constitution that allows the existing gun control laws? Gun Control is never done for OUR benefit.5 points

Many don't start out that way. Where I was a LEO there was a creek that had never flooded for the many decades that the old-timers recalled. That was until large new neighborhoods sprang up that were in the watershed of the creek. All those houses, driveways, streets and sidewalks covered up most of the ground that would normally soak-up the rainwater. Next thing we know the creek was flooding every year. The bitch part for the residents living near the creek was that they were now in a flood plane where there wasn't one before. They couldn't sell their homes nor was there any recourse for them because the neighborhoods were built in a different city.4 points

I am on the way to watch it unfold, tonight at 5:00 P.M. You can see your elected employees either stand for your 2nd Amendment Rights or not.4 points

nah, some of us believe it is our God given right. I didn't ask for permission before, not asking now. Be nice for someone to show some respect and stop the infringements.3 points

Excellent! I certainly agree that true constitutional carry is what we should have gotten, but I hate to forego good in search of perfect.2 points

It' a "shake awake" system. Are you laying the firearm down and not touching when checking to see if it's on? If you move the reddot at all it'll wake up. When trying to adjust the settings, make you "lock mode" is not engaged. Here's a link to the manual if you need it: https://holosun.com/uploads/20200331/b955f5eb2a425d7edde2ef5c83da4c47.pdf2 points

This is my fear. Imagine the antis voting for enough amendments to actually kill the bill's passage upon final vote. Were I a democrat Tennessee Congressman, that's probably how I'd go about defeating this bill. I'd prefer we take the Governor's bill and live to fight another day.2 points

We always had 'city' water, but I spent a lot of time at my grandma's house and they had a unused well, as they had gotten city water at some point. It was just the one cold tap in the kitchen though. No hot water and no inside toilet. Like you, great times...2 points

I know nothing of ADE but at 70 Bucks I would imagine it's not going to work long at all. The violent action a red dot has to hold up to on a handgun slide is intense. I would try and find someone to shoot with that owns a red dot on a pistol. I have a RMR on my 19X and love it, it does make shooting really easy. I would save my 70 bucks and just save for the RMR or Holosun. my 2 pennies. If you can get a slide milled for the red dot it's going to hold up longer than a plate and screws too, plus you get a lower mount to the slide. Jagerwerks did mine milling.2 points

Think I got the dot sighted in. 89/90 rounds in the center circle at 25 yards standing, 9/10 shots (it broke the circle, I say it's 10/10) in the head circle at 10 yards standing. I'm pretty happy with this thing2 points

Just got this in the other day. Castillo Knife, made in Spain. The steel is SANDVIK 14C28N-SPAIN. This knife is light, you don't even know it's in your pocket. Has some nice file work on the spine, locks up solid and even. The handle is Spalted Maple, and is a regular lock back design.1 point

A model 12 Winchester or an 870 . I have two Model 12's , a 12g and a 16g . The 16 is my favorite . I actually prefer and mostly shoot doubles but the pumps are easier to maintain .1 point

How about we remove criminals and the mentally unstable from society rather than firearms? Anybody have a line on what’s taking place at the Capitol right now?1 point

Have you actually looked at the results of city water composition in many places? You may be surprised what tolerances are allowed. Most people don’t like wells because they don’t understand them. Not saying city water isn’t fine, but I wouldn’t let the need for a well stop me from buying a property that had everything else I wanted. I have two friends both on city water that also have Kinetico systems. Just because you are on city water doesn’t mean you have good water. Depends how picky you may be I suppose.1 point

In Nashville, underground water is as big a as problem as the stuff on the surface. All the caves underground do weird stuff. We’ve got a room at church that will take on water if the Cumberland goes above a certain level - even though we’re miles from the river. A few years ago during a particularly heavy rain event, I drilled a hole in the concrete floor and water shot up like a fountain and hit the ceiling. You never want an engineer to look at your issue and say, “man, I have no idea. That really sucks.”1 point

Today I received my magazine floor plates that I ordered from Tactical Development. I got 2 for the 15 rounders and 2 for the 12 rounders. The 15 rounders make the feel and look a little better, adding a little bilk to the rear. Those that have the stock 15 round mags know there's a small gap in the bottom of the back of the mag that touches, or rather don't touch palm of the hand when holding the gun that to some, feels a bit awkward. Petty probably, but ...and for the 12 rounders the smaller replacement floor plate provides a pinky extension that makes the setup ever so sweet fitting in the hand. Seems very well made, and I've seen issues reported with other makes, but these ones seem great and I havent seen any negative reviews. I also saw some magazine 'innards' replacements from Magguts, that use the existing floor plates but replace the rest of the magazine internals that can add plus 2 to the 12 and 15 round mags, but they weren't available yet. Some companies offer replacement floor plates that do this but these don't add any size difference to the mags/1 point

Excellent point! The anti-gun people are very good at taking a nibble here and a bite there. They NEVER give back any ground, and whatever gains they make are simply the new starting line. The pro-liberty folks should probably learn a lesson there and take, as you say, what we can when we can.1 point

Thanks Gary. City water is our strong preference, but some interesting places have only wells. I'm still a city water guy, but it's worth investigating wells just in case.1 point

To the lay person, your "commercials" sound exactly the opposite. So what you put in a writeup may say differently, but what you put into snippets and sound bites sure makes me seem correct.1 point

Well, no pun intended, I have no recent experience with water from wells, but I'm sure there are some here who do. In fact, I seem to remember it being discussed here some time ago. You might do a search on wells here and see. I can say however, having grown up in rather rural areas, well water, hand drawn by rope, no fancy pumps, was all I saw or drank until I was at least 12. That was when my dad mustered out and bought a small house for us. It had "city water". We were in the big time then. Actually first in the family to have water actually from a tap inside the house. And another big benefit...an inside toilet! Wow! No more outside trips or emptying those bed pans! I loved it. LOL! That sure brings back a lot of memories. Memories of family and friends long gone. And times that were, at least in memory, much better. Sorry for getting off your original question, but just sort of came to mind. Don't remember if I welcomed you or not...but in any event; Welcome to TGO. I think you'll enjoy it.1 point

I have also wondered about the ADE red dots. I will say, if you pistol has been cut to use particular sight without using a plate, I think you will like it better as the sight will sit lower on the slide. That being said, going the cheaper unit with a plate to see if you like it may be the way to go. Until you decide you really like it and spend an additional $300ish on a better sight.1 point

The power search is a nice feature, but you have the same problem as on craigslist searching for a car. Sellers don't put in the information on the item, so all you are doing is eliminating lots of ads that likely have what you want. Most sellers don't even give an effective description or title either. I don't know what the deal is on there. Looks like if you were going to pay to be able to list stuff you would make it easier to find it.1 point

Get the optic and see for yourself. A few of the people I have consulted with years of use with red dots on pistols now say they wouldn’t have an issue running a reputable red dot without iron sights. I’m not seeing a ton of night sights with optics. I see some blacked out sight and some fiber optic fronts.1 point

We flooded in 2010. Another 2 feet today probably would have put it in my garage and crawl space. Today was less than relaxing.1 point

I just drove to Nashville and back today. There was tons of flooding along I40 and lots of wrecks today even when it stopped raining. The Caney was extremely high. I don't drive that stretch of I40 often but I'm guessing that river hasn't been that high in a while.1 point

If you are a little tech savvy and want a fun project, put together a Pi-Hole DNS server for your home. It runs on one of those raspberry Pi mini computers (they are just fun to have no matter what) that cost maybe $50. You don't even need the latest greatest Raspberry Pi either, it will run fine on previous gen hardware. Here are the basics: The Internet runs on IP addresses. We humans can't remember them, but we can remember words. So for example, XYZ.com has an IP address behind it. We use DNS servers to convert friendly words that make up a website name into the ip address that is behind that name. So, when I type in xyz.com, your computer talks to the DNS server that you have configured, and asks that DNS server what IP address to use. All this happens under the covers of your computer and you never even have to think about it. What the Pi-Hole does is it becomes your DNS server, so to speak. It has a very long list of web site names in it that are on a blacklist. If your browser tries to query DNS (the Pi-hole) for the IP address of a site on the black list, the DNS server returns back an empty value. This means your browser will not display that bit of the web page. It could be the whole web page (say a malicious site, or perhaps something you don't want your kids looking at), or it could just be an ad that is displayed in a frame of the web page. Any web site that is not in the black list, the Pi-Hole will forward that query on to another DNS server out in the Internet somewhere. It could just be your ISP's DNS server, that you are probably using today, or you can pick from a list of others that may offer you yet another layer of security. What ends up happening is thousands of web requests are just dropped as your computer makes these queries for IP addresses. It saves you bandwidth, but more importantly, you get way less ads in your browser, and relative to this thread, you block many of these tracking sites. It always surprises me when I visit a web page of a site I go to frequently, and I'm not protected by my Pi-Hole. The pages look completely different because of all the ads. There is really nice dashboard that you can view on the Pi-Hole, and what an eyeopener it is. Mine is blocking crap 24 hours a day, thousands per hour. I kid you not. Crap you wouldn't even think about, like Alexa, or your Roku, or your cell phone, YOUR TV, are all talking to something all day long.1 point

I emptied my rain gauge at 9 last evening, 2 1/2", and again this morning 3". Bradley Creek, across the road was up, but not over the road. The 10 acre field, next to our home, was under water up to our front yard. So far no damage except several tree limbs down in our back yard. Headed to Church this morning to worship God and remember Jesus Christ and what He did for all mankind. Get-ye-some faith guys and gals! Nothing more important to mankind.1 point

The alternate is buying cheap clothes that don't last. My wife and I did that for years and we finally got to the point that we're done buying cheap, made in China clothes. One of our goals this year is to buy as little stuff made in China as possible. Its been difficult.1 point

Proving once again that fear isn't rational. The council fears guns and thinks if they are banned, they are magically safe. What they fail to realize (acknowledge?) is that guns are already being carried & used by those they should fear (criminals). But honest people are currently at the mercy of those that already flaunt the law. Permitless carry (aka, Constitutional Carry) merely levels the playing field & violent crime will go DOWN as a result. Chicago politicians have followed the same thinking as the Memphis City Council for many years. Same outcome (300+ murders per year.) What is that definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over & over again, but expecting a different result. The governor is on the right path. Thankfully the Memphis council can't over-rule state law.1 point

We do not have a Conservative anything related to our TN legislature. If I could construct in your minds a meme, of a relay team of runners, consisting of Jimmy Naifeh, Beth Harwell, Glen Casada with Cameron Sexton being the final leg, I would do so and maybe I could then improve the consideration of the voters in Tennessee that the stuff hitting your shoes is NOT rain water...1 point

I took a course with them back in 2019. I was impressed enough with their classes to write a review for them on Google. I took the easy route and pasted that review here I took the Tactical Handgun course with Agape Tactical as part of a group training session. None of our group were novices. Given the experience of the instructors, they picked up on that fact quickly, so they sped up the training to suit our skill levels. That said, they did not skimp on the safety and basics at the beginning of the session - they ensured that we all had a great level-set and knew how to be safe! I took a Saturday class and we trained all day (brought our lunch for a quick break). I had a great experience and I learned a lot, even though I grew up around firearms. I received so much value from the class and would highly recommend their services to anyone wanting to learn more defense- and fighting-oriented handgun skills.1 point
