The decades of give and take have gotten us to where we are now. It’s hard to negotiate when your back is up against the wall. There is no more negotiation. Give a little now, give a lot more later. It’s an endless cycle that will only continue until there is nothing left. This is just one of the many schemes the Dems have to restrict gun ownership.5 points

What's not to like?! Saint John Browning's final design. It's easy to tell older Hi-Powers from the newer series. The slide always tells the story! Older ones until the mid-60's had an internal extractor like a M1911 .45. Later ones have an external extractor visible on the right side of the slide, or you can see the hole for the roll pin that retains it from the left side. Several countries made the Hi-Power. Canadian and Argentina ones are very good. Argentina started cutting corners towards the end and the difference is obvious. for some reason, both countries liked a black paint finish. The Argentina-made pistols are a relative bargain. FN made the dies and set up the production line in Argentina, so parts are 100% interchangeable. If you have large hands, beware of hammer bite. Get one with the round versus spur hammer and that is much less likely. WWII with Nazi markings should be avoided except as a collector piece. FN had a LOT of slave laborers who took shortcuts and sabotaged parts. I almost bought one that had a locking shoulder made of soft iron. I ALWAYS remove the magazine disconnect. It's a dumb idea and I can not think of single incident where someone was happy it was there. An idea that only a bureaucrat or chair-born ranger would like.4 points

UBCs are registration under a different name. It's the same thing. Call your Senators. Email them, visit them. Demand that they NOT pass this garbage. Registration only leads one place: Confiscation.4 points
-
Unless SCOTUS uses UBCs to toss the Wickard decision, I believe that it will stand if passed. As alluring as the idea of true compromise like getting suppressors off the NFA might sound, I can’t get on board with supporting it. UBCds are unenforceable, unless you have universal registration. So it won’t be long after UBCs get passed that registration will come along to make the UBC system viable.4 points
-
The risk is where I would say you are wrong. The risk isn’t in the UBC the risk is in what must come next. It’s all about not setting the stage for a registry and UBCs will make one a necessity.3 points

The answer is, they shouldn't. But then again, active duty law enforcement shouldn't be able to carry anywhere that the rest of the citizenry can't either.2 points

Yeah, if it’s between 225 and 275 over a fire, it’s barbecue as far as I’m concerned. I got in trouble one time when I was in texas and tried to order a pork sandwich. They assured me that they didn’t do that in Texas. I’ll grant this - subpar brisket and subpar pork shoulder that have been held under a heat lamp or in a steam tray for longer than they should have been are both terrible excuses for meat.2 points

Remember that virtually every member of congress is a lawyer, and they've been using the Interstate Commerce clause to legislate things that are not federal in nature for years. They'll surely find a way to exert control, just as they do over a zillion other things in our lives. Congress long ago abandoned the Constitution as it applies to restrictions on federal government.2 points

An attempt to make the federal congress "regulate" the lawful exchange of goods between one Tennessean and another Tennessean, having nothing to do with interstate commerce or any other legit constitutional source of congressional authority... Hmm. Mr. Thompson, how about you see to California and I'll see to Tennessee.2 points

That image is not upside down. The single star is always closest to the blue bar no matter which side of the flag you are looking at. The flag attaches to the pole along the red edge. Even if it was upside down, the single star would still be closest to the blue bar. It looks like they took the blue bar off the image, turned the red part over right to left and then added the blue bar back.2 points

My likelihood of treating a gunshot wound as a result of a training accident or gun fight is pretty low. The worst thing that could happen would be traveling down Chapman Highway, heading home from a special dinner with my beloved wife. It was a wonderful dinner and conversation and we are looking forward to the rest of our evening, safe and secure in our home. Maybe you've been in a similar situation, maybe it's your plan for tonight. Then, some idiot drunk driver hits us head on. GREAT NEWS: seat belts and air bags work exactly as designed. HOWEVER: shards of flying glass and metal severely lacerate my wife's arms and torso and while waiting for First Responders, I watch her bleed out because: If you are in or witness a horrific car wreck, could you render aid? Have you ever taken or when was the last time you took a medical class? Do you know how to treat a gunshot wound in the event of a negligent discharge or violent encounter? Can you treat your extremities and that of others to prevent a friend, colleague or family member from bleeding out? What are the current protocols for CPR? Does your home, auto and/or individual first aid kit have appropriate content for typical traumatic injuries? If you would like to gain basic knowledge and skill to treat potentially life threatening injuries, this class is for you. If you have taken multiple pistol, carbine, rifle and shotgun classes, it might be time for a medical class or refresher to get current. With today's market you should probably move forward. If the down spouts are the trouble and often they are, it can take a long time for the moisture level to get back to normal. If you did smell a musty odor you're probably OK. I had to paint some of my block on the inside with that ugh waterproof paint. Did the trick but was a pain to prep.1 point

Bud's Gun in Sevierville is suppose to be biggest gun shop in TN and has an attached range. I have bought a couple of guns from them. Smoky Mountain Knife Works is next door and has a large gun area and a lot of neat knives. Lots of smaller shops depending on where you land. I'm about 90 minutes from Bud's and try to make it down a couple of times a year. It is a good place to take liberals just to see their head explode from the long guns out on the floor that you can pick up and look at. Handguns are behind the counter or in cases, too easy to walk away so you have to ask to handle them. Full auto and suppressors are federally controlled and require a federal license per item and take 6 months plus to get one.1 point

THIS. I have a full basement and when we bought our home the last owners didn't have enough slope or drainage around the foundation. You could fill a dehumidifier once or twice daily. After increasing the slope, diverting the water with gravel and or plastic drain pipe, and using drylok on the block our moisture issues now are minimal. But we run a dehumidifier to this day just to keep that basement "feel" to a minimum.1 point

After 30 years of living in Knoxville I have come to accept Buddy’s. It is a Knoxville outfit but has expanded to other places in ET. The meat is not bad and is the only thing I buy there but it’s damn expensive for what it is. By “meat” I mean pork BBQ as is the way. Sometimes I get a wild hair and make some Memphis style mustard slaw, get a pound of Buddy’s and some buns from the sto and have a little feast.1 point

Nice! You ought to just send that Gen 2 grip module off to Dark Side Precision and let him work it over for you or buy one from him when he has them in stock. I have a spare that I am probably going to send to him sooner or later.1 point

Installed a few more parts on it this afternoon. A Mini MR. Bullet Feeder( the one you load and turn by hand) it holds 100 bullets, works great so far with the trial run. Installed a new primer chute and it actually works great. Still have some tweaks to make and a few more parts that I want, oh the Case Feeder will be here hopefully tomorrow or Saturday can't wait to hook it up. Here are a few more pics.1 point

Picked up my new Staccato P DPO from my FFL. Going to do a few mods. on it, either install the old style Grip Module from my Staccato P 4.14 or I might order another EXTREME SHOOTERS Grip Module w/ Grip Reduction like I put on my 4.14 model, and an aluminium Flat Trigger from EVERGLADES and install my HOLOSUN Red Dot this weekend. Here's the pics. of the DPO1 point

Went for years without having to check headspace in AR's. These days, I check them. I built a gun for a friend with a Stoner barrel. The headspace was so short on it that it wouldn't go into battery without slamming the bolt carrier home. The gun was a 2 1/2 hour drive from me. Had to replace the barrel. So now, anything I build gets the gauges.1 point

I've inspected a handful of PSA assembled uppers lately and most of them have had some type of issue. Most common has been headspace too short for 5.56 chambers. But I've also had some that the barrel is not dimpled for the gas block and the gas block alignment is way off. Im not saying that they are all bad, just inspect your PSA stuff, especially if it comes from their budget lines.1 point

I once made this same statement to a group of Texans in a hole in the wall restaurant in Abilene and my opinion was not well received. The brisket was damn good, though.1 point

There was a significant difference in mine when I removed the mag safeties. I imagine each gun is different.1 point

I removed the mag safety from mine a couple of years ago. It made a difference but given this was the first semi auto I ever shot and have been shooting it since the mid 80's it didn't make a huge difference. Just my thoughts. Verne1 point

Lol, you can't put a question mark after eh, you wouldn't have passed the test You know how they say "the grass is always greener on the other side" ? Well that's true here. I had family move to the states years ago, and friends since then, and they all kept saying "come down, why do you stay there?". Thing is, it's never really been too bad here. Sure we're sort of a third world country, sure our money looks ridiculous, but damn, people are nice here (or used to be anyway). It's not a terrible place to live, UNTIL a hostile government takes over, and starts to remind you that you are not free citizens, you are quite literally "subjects of the crown", or in other words property. I believe the government is gearing up to take away the right to own things, the slogan is "you'll own nothing...and love it". Canadians have the highest levels of personal debt in the entire world. Small crappy houses cost 1 million (no joke), with yards that are 35x90ft. Our "real" tax rate is something close to 80%, once you factor in the federal, provincial, sales, carbon and sin taxes. "Free" health care is what we keep bragging about, but let's say I pay $200,000 a year in taxes, and the guy that breaks into my car every night for meth money pays $0. We both end up at the hospital, I have chest pains, and he's on his 5th OD. HE goes first because he got in the door first. Emergency room wait times (pre covid) were up to 12 hours. TWELVE HOURS BEFORE YOU GET TO SEE A TRIAGE NURSE!!! Now a lot of that was union garbage, and we do have some good doctors here (you can't pronounce their names, but they're usually competent), as all of the good english speaking doctors get snapped up by US hospitals. So taking that into consideration, and the tax savings themselves, I'm good with paying for the health insurance, and being able to pick and chose where and when I get healthcare. I mean there's a lot of good here (it's a beautiful country), BUT being a true free citizen of the planet is way way way better. That's why when I get there, I'm going to fly the stars and stripes, remove my hat for the anthem, and be bloody glad I'm there.1 point

The border guys are just dicks. I've crossed into Michigan about 200 times in my lifetime, I don't think I've ever had an issue with the US guys, but coming back is completely a different deal. Now that said, cops coming here for training/competitions are really weirded out by our "never carry, ever ever" policy on handguns, I mean, there's literally nobody carrying a gun that isn't a copper or armed security, so the guys I've met just felt completely naked without a carry pistol, so -maybe- they were thinking of that, who knows, like I said, a lot of them are just dicks, and they gravitated towards border security because they can harass people for a living. Did you know that right now if I was to fly back into Canada, that I may well be forced to go stay at a hotel for a few days in quarantine? Of course, on my dollar. I have to assume that Labrador was pretty hick-ish back in the day. I LOVE the east coast (my daughter is at school in Halifax for a couple more years, we love going out there to visit), but man, that's an extremely poor part of Canada. Good people, but most of them are liberal voters because liberals give out lots of free stuff. I don't know where you would have to go to see "real" Canada anymore. Out in the country in Ontario or Alberta I would say. Any of the cities don't really look/sound like Canada anymore. I certainly don't hate Canada or it's people, but the politics are headed in a real bad direction. I'd rather stand with 80+ million patriots with actual rights, than 1 million Canucks, with a "charter or rights and freedoms" that gets trampled any time it's inconvenient for our dictator leader. Don't get me wrong, there are some absolutely awesome, damn tough people in Canada, but our spirit is crushed, and I just don't see it coming back. Anyplace with a university (much like down south) is going hard left, not really too hard to see where the cancer is coming from1 point

If you want a real Memphis Original, Dyer’s Hamburgers. It moved from the original location about 20 years ago with much fanfare. Unless things have changed, they fry their burgers in grease. And they NEVER change the grease. They just add to it or the grease from the burgers keeps it replenished. When they moved the restaurant, they had a parade to move the grease from one location to the other.1 point
