Grand Torino and gr8smiles are as two good reasons to be a member as I can think of. Where else can you buy such nice things for such fair prices? My hat's off to these two fine members. Somehow, I've so far avoided buying any of gr8smile's offerings, but I just know it's coming.3 points

3.4 million background checks ran in February. Not sure "hoarding" is the complete answer here. I'll give you that there are people buying for resale, and that some people are buying for their "needs/desires." Even we here. We stockpile. We prepare for any eventuality(hopefully anyway). We "Prep" for disaster But as I've said before. Millions more buyers in the last 2 years. That absolutely effects the amount of ammo available to the masses.3 points

Got my Dillon 750XL set up, I placed a bid on Ebay last month and took a chance and won it, I got a good deal on it considering the prices lately. It came with a 9mm Conversion kit so I ordered a 45acp Caliber Conversion kit from Dillon right after I purchased my press and received it in a week along with a spare parts kit. Last Friday night I ordered a Case Feeder for it and it shipped today and should be here this week, that surprised me cause it showed it was on back order. I got the press mounted on an Inline Fabrication JR Mount the other day and waiting for the rest of the stuff to get here. So hopefully I can start reloading 45acp next week. Here are a couple of pics of it mounted on my bench. I'll post some more when everything else arrives this week.2 points

I bought the texas star awhile ago but have not been able to get out and try it out. The weather was great yesterday so I got a little shooting in. The first video is the first time I have shot my new to me Colt Anaconda in 45 Colt. I was very pleased that it shoots to point of aim, at least at 7 yards. The next two videos are with my Sig MPX. I love this gun. Didn't want to look bad so I started off at 7 yards and then moved to about 25 yards. It is hard to miss with this gun. I really have to thank @TGO David for selling it. It is my favorite gun to shoot. Did not have a lot of time yesterday so I did not do any longer range shooting. I think next time I want to work on shooting longer distances and then work on speed. I want to get a shot timer and see how fast I can clear the star at different distances. I was nice to get out and do a little shooting yesterday. Now it is time to start cleaning the guns.2 points

I stopped in at my LGS this afternoon and paid on my Layaway and I fella was buying a new .357 single action and he bought a box of .38 wadcutters. I think this is also a part of the shortage. You got to figure that a new purchase is getting a box of shells too, if they can get them.2 points

To be fair if they are covered in grease they just end up as "Garage Jeans" or "Mowing Jeans". I just stop wearing them out to dinner with my wife. She gets upset if I look like I have been under a car all day.2 points

Hello Gents and Ladies, we bought a home in Columbia and are moving up from Texas. I have historic family roots in Middle TN and look forward to making this our home. I'm interested in all types of hunting, fishing, shooting and reloading. I hope to meet some of you soon. ForrestB1 point

I was browsing around Ollie's the other day and came across a book that got my attention. It is called "Cop Under Fire" by well-known Sheriff David Clarke Jr. I'm about close to being halfway through and it haa been a good read. I always liked his no-nonsense attitude and his unwavering support for law enforcement. He doesn't pull any punches and tells it like it is on a variety of subjects. I highly recommend it.1 point

Channel 2 WKRN Nashville just announced it appears this bill will pass. They then proceeded to interview the owner of a firearms training academy who spouted the exact fearmongering I had written about earlier. We don't need a bunch of people without training running around armed. (not direct quote) I know not all qualified training personnel think or speak this way so PLEASE do not take offense. But this guy is just worried about losing all that state required training money. My local shop now provides the current training free. I agree, everyone should get competency training but it should not be required. Oh by the way, if you look at my previous posts in this thread you will know that I have training. I will revisit where and when I can carry and deploy. We should all keep up to date.1 point

I'm likely on the younger side of the crowd here, but I've always found Old Navy jeans to be favorable. They have a Relaxed Fit and a Boot Cut. I typically buy a couple of pairs every couple of years when they have one of their denim sales (you can usually get a pair of jeans for around $20 or less - I'm super cheap on buying stuff for myself). Once I've added a couple of nicer pairs, I'll cycle the old ones to mowing/yard/auto/dirty/greasy work and save the newer pairs for church/9-5/shopping/dinner.1 point

They have a couple different styles. I do have one pair that has a bit of stretch, softer feel, and is a bit thinner than what I normally buy. The ones I typically buy are as thick if not thicker than the Levi offerings I had been wearing before. I have only had the thinner pair 6 months or so and they are holding up just fine but I could not give a long term assessment at this point. The thicker ones are a 5+ year jean for me if I don't get them covered in grease.1 point

I do but I never bought dies or components for 9mm. It was always so cheap that it never made sense. Hindsight sucks.1 point

Got to say after reading the title this was the first thing I thought of.1 point

Yea that's the low low price before you have to get a small business loan to buy some!! This time next year that could be $249.89 per round. Sad thing is I think some people might pay it. I have seen some crazy priced stuff on GB sell. Right now they have 1k Federal Gold Medal Match small pistol primers with 6 hours left for $330.00 plus $35.00 shipping. They must be made of gold to fetch that kind of price. Update the primers sold for $355+ shipping. That fellow was needing some primers pretty bad.1 point

Hey Red that is a really good idea. When I took my enhanced CC course in Mississippi we were told that the odds of surviving a gunshot is 80% but surviving a knife was 30%. He said unless you are shot in vital area you can generally get to hospital and they can save you. However if you are cut in a big enough vein or an artery you could bleed out long before an ambulance could get to you. In my case where I live that could easily be 30+ minutes. About the same time it would take to get a LEO here as well, that is why firearms with sufficient ammo is necessary here.1 point

David do you not reload? I can load target 9mm ammo for $0.122 per round or $6.11 per box. If it were legal I would love to sell you a couple of thousand at $0.49 per round, let's see that is 400%+ profit. Not bad for a day at the reloading press.1 point

I used a 550 also for the last 10yrs. probably loaded over 80,000 rnds on it over the years. I figured it was time to upgrade, I still have about 30,000 45acp to load up to finish what I have in my inventory, so I figured I could make quick work of those with this loader.1 point

I got an old axe from my father-in-law. Best I can tell, it's about 50 years old. Very rusty. Soaked in vinegar for a few days and then sanded and polished. Still haven't fixed the axe head to the handle. Learned some differences between cheap store-bought steel and a real axe head - real steel has a tempered edge and a lot of cheap axes don't have that hardened edge. Also, never use an axe with some sort of clear coat on the handle without gloves. It will eat you alive with blisters. Naked wood + oil = way better.1 point

I took a course with them back in 2019. I was impressed enough with their classes to write a review for them on Google. I took the easy route and pasted that review here I took the Tactical Handgun course with Agape Tactical as part of a group training session. None of our group were novices. Given the experience of the instructors, they picked up on that fact quickly, so they sped up the training to suit our skill levels. That said, they did not skimp on the safety and basics at the beginning of the session - they ensured that we all had a great level-set and knew how to be safe! I took a Saturday class and we trained all day (brought our lunch for a quick break). I had a great experience and I learned a lot, even though I grew up around firearms. I received so much value from the class and would highly recommend their services to anyone wanting to learn more defense- and fighting-oriented handgun skills.1 point

People panic whenever things get a little uneasy in their lives. When the terrorists attacks happened on 9-11, I saw a guy fill up his truck and had a 55 gallon drum in the back. He filled it up too.1 point

In 2019, I burned through 4,000 rds of ammo. 3,000 of it was 9mm and 1,000 of it was 5.56 NATO. That was without taking any classes and I am not a guy that does "mag dumps" either. My range time is intentional and deliberate and I dry fire far more "rounds" than that every week at home. In 2020, I burned through about 2,500 rds of 9mm and no 5.56. In August of 2020, I orchestrated a group buy for my safety team at church that ended up totaling nearly 60,000 rounds of ammo and I only bought 1,000 for myself. I figured I'd go back and get more on the next pass through but I wanted to be sure that everyone else got some first. That next pass through never happened. We got cut off by my supplier because someone in Nashville at one of the gun shops had caught wind that we were getting ammo that they couldn't from the same supplier. That gun shop ratted us out and ended it. I still don't exactly know who it was, but I have suspicions. I don't hold them any ill will either. I might have complained too were I in their spot when the supply started drying up. Business is business. These days I skimp like crazy when I go to the range. I load 3-5 rounds in a mag at a time and make them count. I dry fire infinitely more than I shoot for real. It sucks but it also has made me really focus on fundamentals. If I could find 1,000 rounds of 9mm for less than 50-cents per round, I'd buy as many cases as they'd let me and I'd go back to shooting like I used to. Hell, my life "depends on it" if you factor in my volunteer service at church. I don't have a law enforcement agency supplying practice ammo. My ability to still be proficient is funded by me and me alone. Do I care what anyone else thinks about me for buying any ammo that I can? Not a bit. I hope you all don't care what anyone thinks of you either.1 point

Same here. When I bought my first rifle from CMP I also got several cases of their greek surplus ammo. Then a couple of years ago stumbled across another case. I only shoot my M1s about once a year, so I'm good for a long time yet.1 point

We ate at the Gus' Fried Chicken in Knoxville. It was alright, but not the hot chicken I'm used to in Nashville. @MacGyver can testify to my idea of hot chicken - although I'm finding that comes at a cost as I get older.1 point

Lucky Brand Jeans. They look good and feel almost like pajamas. Should run about $50. I always get them from Steinmart but I’m sure places like Kohl’s or TJ Max and the like may have them too.1 point

The replacement stock is only a minor hit. A couple of hundred at most. But that cut barrel is a real killer. For a Garand to have the barrel cut and still function, more than just the barrel was modified. My guess would be maybe $400-500. But frankly, I wouldn't touch it. By the time you replaced the barrel, stock and whatever else is needed, you could have bought a nice original Garand.1 point
