Have you bought a tank of gas lately? There will probably be people scalping it once they figure out the storage issues.5 points

3.4 million background checks ran in February. Not sure "hoarding" is the complete answer here. I'll give you that there are people buying for resale, and that some people are buying for their "needs/desires." Even we here. We stockpile. We prepare for any eventuality(hopefully anyway). We "Prep" for disaster But as I've said before. Millions more buyers in the last 2 years. That absolutely effects the amount of ammo available to the masses.4 points

This shortage is caused by people that won't stop panic buying. We are our own worst enemy sometimes. The odd thing is that if anything is in jeopardy it's guns and magazines which are actually in stock most places. It's just like the time after Sandy Hook when everyone mysteriously insisted on buying .22LR.4 points

I have had many transactions through Gun Owners Club without any problems, and never had a "no show". Everything on there, right now, seems to be way over priced, but then it is every where else also.3 points

Yeah, Newtown really reinforced what I already knew, but had grown complacent about. I dry fire more than I shoot as well, but I still try and get to the range for focused drills and to practice specific skills 2-3 times a month. I limit my rounds and due to home/personal circumstances severely limit my range time. But 20-30 minutes of focused practice ( i.e. Rastoff , a 5x5 drill, or a reduced round count Dot Torture) and verification of some of my dry fire practice works for me. I've also been shooting more revolver than auto this past 12-18 months and I've found the DA work with the wheelie has helped a lot with my SA/Safe Action trigger control. Besides, I like wheelies. We all know/knew that every election year brings on a rush of purchasing guns & ammo. But the convergence of events of the past couple of years is pretty unprecedented, at least in my experience. From what I read, Natchez and many other online retailers, list ammo several times per day when they get shipments in. There are a lot of folks competing for that ammo, sometimes guns, and things move remarkably fast. Who knows what the "New Norm" is gonna be... time will tell.3 points

This! I've said it almost word for word before. If people would stop waiting in line to buy it and then resale it this problem would be solved. My Academy has close to 100 people waiting every day for ammo.2 points

Bingo! It surprised me that there were a few (not many) members here who seemed to be unconcerned about 2A rights during the past election. I'm not a single issue voter, but the 2A issue is one of my top concerns. Right now the sharks smell blood in the water, and they're circling in preparation for taking the biggest bites they can manage. Democrats see NOW as the best opportunity in many years to pass a wide range of gun restrictions. And we're seeing party-line votes in the Senate that leave me without much confidence that conservatives can withstand the onslaught. The terrible shame, in my view, is that there probably are some things that can be done to make it less attractive for a criminal to obtain a firearm. But we've passed the point that any compromise on the part of gun-owners simply becomes the new standard and that the anti-gunners begin again from that point. NO compromise will ever be enough for the gun-ban crowd, many of whom are entirely uninformed, and therefore I am no longer willing to support ANY compromise at all.2 points

In 2019, I burned through 4,000 rds of ammo. 3,000 of it was 9mm and 1,000 of it was 5.56 NATO. That was without taking any classes and I am not a guy that does "mag dumps" either. My range time is intentional and deliberate and I dry fire far more "rounds" than that every week at home. In 2020, I burned through about 2,500 rds of 9mm and no 5.56. In August of 2020, I orchestrated a group buy for my safety team at church that ended up totaling nearly 60,000 rounds of ammo and I only bought 1,000 for myself. I figured I'd go back and get more on the next pass through but I wanted to be sure that everyone else got some first. That next pass through never happened. We got cut off by my supplier because someone in Nashville at one of the gun shops had caught wind that we were getting ammo that they couldn't from the same supplier. That gun shop ratted us out and ended it. I still don't exactly know who it was, but I have suspicions. I don't hold them any ill will either. I might have complained too were I in their spot when the supply started drying up. Business is business. These days I skimp like crazy when I go to the range. I load 3-5 rounds in a mag at a time and make them count. I dry fire infinitely more than I shoot for real. It sucks but it also has made me really focus on fundamentals. If I could find 1,000 rounds of 9mm for less than 50-cents per round, I'd buy as many cases as they'd let me and I'd go back to shooting like I used to. Hell, my life "depends on it" if you factor in my volunteer service at church. I don't have a law enforcement agency supplying practice ammo. My ability to still be proficient is funded by me and me alone. Do I care what anyone else thinks about me for buying any ammo that I can? Not a bit. I hope you all don't care what anyone thinks of you either.2 points

This one will be a combo pistol and shotgun day culminating in a two gun man vs man (or woman) battle for intergalactic domination ! After a quick "pulse check" shooting drill to see where your cold skills are we will work on shooting on the move with pistols and work on shotgun skills and then finally test your skills in a 2 gun intergalactic death match shoot off. Also I will do my best to bring some ammo for you to be able to replenish what you shoot. Hope to see you there!1 point

Got my Dillon 750XL set up, I placed a bid on Ebay last month and took a chance and won it, I got a good deal on it considering the prices lately. It came with a 9mm Conversion kit so I ordered a 45acp Caliber Conversion kit from Dillon right after I purchased my press and received it in a week along with a spare parts kit. Last Friday night I ordered a Case Feeder for it and it shipped today and should be here this week, that surprised me cause it showed it was on back order. I got the press mounted on an Inline Fabrication JR Mount the other day and waiting for the rest of the stuff to get here. So hopefully I can start reloading 45acp next week. Here are a couple of pics of it mounted on my bench. I'll post some more when everything else arrives this week.1 point

I bought the texas star awhile ago but have not been able to get out and try it out. The weather was great yesterday so I got a little shooting in. The first video is the first time I have shot my new to me Colt Anaconda in 45 Colt. I was very pleased that it shoots to point of aim, at least at 7 yards. The next two videos are with my Sig MPX. I love this gun. Didn't want to look bad so I started off at 7 yards and then moved to about 25 yards. It is hard to miss with this gun. I really have to thank @TGO David for selling it. It is my favorite gun to shoot. Did not have a lot of time yesterday so I did not do any longer range shooting. I think next time I want to work on shooting longer distances and then work on speed. I want to get a shot timer and see how fast I can clear the star at different distances. I was nice to get out and do a little shooting yesterday. Now it is time to start cleaning the guns.1 point

I was browsing around Ollie's the other day and came across a book that got my attention. It is called "Cop Under Fire" by well-known Sheriff David Clarke Jr. I'm about close to being halfway through and it haa been a good read. I always liked his no-nonsense attitude and his unwavering support for law enforcement. He doesn't pull any punches and tells it like it is on a variety of subjects. I highly recommend it.1 point

I took a course with them back in 2019. I was impressed enough with their classes to write a review for them on Google. I took the easy route and pasted that review here I took the Tactical Handgun course with Agape Tactical as part of a group training session. None of our group were novices. Given the experience of the instructors, they picked up on that fact quickly, so they sped up the training to suit our skill levels. That said, they did not skimp on the safety and basics at the beginning of the session - they ensured that we all had a great level-set and knew how to be safe! I took a Saturday class and we trained all day (brought our lunch for a quick break). I had a great experience and I learned a lot, even though I grew up around firearms. I received so much value from the class and would highly recommend their services to anyone wanting to learn more defense- and fighting-oriented handgun skills.1 point

TN receives about 40 percent of it's general revenue from the federal government. If you think that the folks in Nashville are willing to give up 40 percent of the state's income over gun legislation, I think you don't understand politics. What are WE supposed to do? WE are supposed to handle this at the polls. And if that doesn't work, then WE go to war. But dreaming that the state might, well that's just dreaming.1 point

Well after waiting for 14 days for FedEx (sat for 10 days in California) to finally deliver my new pistol it is finally here. Waiting for my background check to go thru at Clarksville Guns & Archery.....if you've never been you should visit. Nice guys and a new indoor range. New (old stock) Sig Sauer P227.....sleeping since 2019 in a gun shop in Hawaii....now it's mine! Time to take off the production tape ring and oil/grease it up for the first time..... Ready to go but lets take a picture with his older brother........ Sig Sauer P229 in .40/357Sig and my new P227 in .45 ACP..... I fired 10 rounds to get used to the trigger and snap of the 45.....then fired 10 rounds at an 8" circle at 21 feet...it is a shooter....I will get better with practice...I am so glad I picked one up before they were are all gone!1 point

TGO has unfortunately, from time to time, been visited by those who lack morals and ethics and would like to take advantage of the good graces and trusting nature of our fine members. This activity almost always seems to increase when social conditions are turbulent, especially if the turbulence is centered around the ability to find and buy guns or ammo. Lately we have had to boot a few people who were exhibiting suspicious behavior. We want you to be aware of this fact and to be sure to check a person's status on TGO before you commit to doing business with them as either the seller or the buyer. This is especially true if the other person encourages you to take communication with them "off the forum" and to email or some sort of instant messaging service. Before you buy or sell: Look to see whether they have have an active account or if they've been banned since you started talking to them. If you are going to meet to conduct business, do it during daylight hours and in a heavily trafficked, very public, neutral meeting place. Don't invite people to your home. Don't agree to meet people at theirs. MOST police and sheriff's stations have space at their parking lot where you can meet for selling and buying with strangers. Other good places are parking lots of busy business and in sight of their security cameras. Trust your gut instincts whether just when communicating online or meeting in person. If something feels "off" or "weird" - trust your gut. Feel free to involve me, @MacGyver, @Chucktshoes or one of the other moderators in a private conversation with the other party, or just contact us off to the side if you have concerns. Some of the suspicious activity that we've seen includes: People answering a Want To Buy ad claiming to have what you want, or that they know a friend or family member who does, and offering to broker an exchange between you and them. When it is fraudulent, this sort of thing often quickly becomes ridiculously complex and harder than it should be to do a simple transaction. Your warning senses should start tingling. We insist that people never list an item for sale for a friend on TGO for a reason. First Person is simpler, easier and often safer. People asking if you will ship a gun to them out of state or if you require proof of residency. Shipping a gun out of state always requires that you send it to an FFL in that state. An in-person buyer has to be a resident of your state. Again, heed your warning senses. People asking you to send money to them via PayPal "Friends and Family". Remember, first of all PayPal doesn't allow you to pay for guns and certain other things with their service. If you do and you get hosed on a deal, you may have no protection with PayPal. Second, sending money via Friends and Family saves the recipient a measly 3% charge but it also means you get zero protection via PayPal if the other person hoses you. Strangers insisting that they meet you after dark, or at a remote location, or at your house or theirs. This is a big NO. Don't do this. People asking if they can send a friend to pick up a gun from you instead of meeting you themselves. This is also a big NO. It can quickly become an illegal "straw purchase". Again, trust your gut instincts. You have them for a reason. It's safer to heed them and risk offending a person than it is to ignore them and end up the victim of a scam or worse. And always, always contact me, @MacGyver, @Chucktshoes or another moderator if you are concerned and just want a second opinion. We're glad to help. Stay safe out there!1 point

There's not one really convenient for a quick hop-off-40-on-the-way-to-Arkansas lunch, but Memphis Pizza Cafe would be worthwhile. I was livid when the one in Wolfchase closed and a nappy McAllister's opened where it used to be.1 point

The longer I live, the more I truly appreciate eating regional variants - and seeing how stuff has migrated with people. We’ve all got our preferences I suppose. I love some Carolina mustard sauce. Growing up in Georgia, I’ll take anything smoked over pecan wood. Heck, I’ve even come to appreciate Texas and the fact while you’d be hard pressed to find a proper pork sandwich in the state - they do a pretty good brisket. I’m just thankful a thread on Memphis barbecue has made it this far without anyone calling those chargrilled things at the Rendezvous barbecue.1 point

White sauce is a heathen concoction that’s what happens when you leave bored white people alone in the kitchen too long.1 point

It’s a good thing you’ll never find that foul abhorrence of “white sauce” in Memphis. Proper people do not slather mayonnaise on BBQ. It’s why Alabama is just wrong.1 point

I wonder what it would take to get the IRS involved since it is obvious that according to the letter of the law, the TN Sheriff’s Association is engaged in disallowed activity. I got jokes today. The government never goes after its own for wrongdoing.1 point

My great uncle, for whom I am named, was in the horse cavalry in the 20s-30s before WWII. He faked his age to join the Navy for WWI, then went to West Point, served in WWII and the Korean Conflict, was a career officer, and retired a full colonel.1 point

Not necessarily. It makes it well known to the feds that we are in an area that does NOT approve or want gun control. That makes us a hard target instead of an easy one. Look, I came from California, home of MILLIONS of illegal aliens living off the government tit. Totally flaunts fed law and the feds did nothing about it. The times the feds raided tuna factories and almond fields they got the cold shoulder and zero help from the local LEO agencies. The state filed lawsuits against the feds and tied it up in court. Also look at the pot thing. Totally illegal by fed law, but CA (and other states) allow it to flourish and the feds do nothing about it. I'm not saying that local LEO's would physically be able to stop the feds from doing whatever, but the feds don't have the resources to go door to door and prosecute everyone with an AR or an ammo can full of P-mags. If Tennessee refuses to prosecute, then who will?1 point

Why not, I will tell you why. Whenever a gun guy sees a box of ammo, his first thought is I MUST have this. Takes it home and trys to find a place to put it, because his ammo stash needs a separate Zipcode. Granted it sounds good to let things settle down, but most folks don't have the willpower.1 point

Tennessee Gun Owners Trading Post Updated August 14, 2023 Terms and Conditions By using the Trading Post, you agree and affirm that TNGunOwners.com (TGO) is an "Information Service Provider" as defined by Federal Law and that TGO is not the seller of ANY of the firearms or other items listed here. Listings are posted by third parties. TGO's role is similar to that of a newspaper which publishes classified ads. Our knowledge of a transaction is limited to the information contained in an item's listing and user registration databases. Rules for Using the Trading Post Observe all Federal, State and Local laws at all times. Clearly and accurately describe the item that you are offering. Disclose any flaws, any blemishes, any problems. Provide clear photos when possible. Do not offer items on behalf of a friend or other third-party. Only list items that you own and are in possession of. Do not make "testing the water" types of posts. Only post if you are ready to sell or trade. Do not agree to buy or take possession of an item unless you have all of the resources (money, items for trade, etc.) necessary to complete the deal. Complete any agreed-upon transactions within seven (7) business days unless both parties agree, in writing on TGO, that an extension of this deadline is acceptable. All transactions are final, and all items are provided as-is and without warranty unless the seller/trader says otherwise. Do not make any replies designed to interfere with the sale or trade of an item. If you wish to haggle, do it privately with the seller. No one cares what you think about the price or availability of an item. Don't be a dick. Access to the Trading Post may be revoked if you fail to follow the rules, fail to follow the law, or fail to be honest and ethical in your dealings Haggle privately. If you are a new member and can't send a private message, just post a public reply and ask the author of the ad to contact you. Haggling does not belong in public. It is no one's business what you think an item is worth. That is between you and the seller. Suggestions for Buyers and Sellers When agreeing to meet in person, put safety first. Trust your instincts! Consider only meeting at a public place with surveillance video (police stations are great for this!) and only meeting during daylight hours. Try not to meet alone, but also be clear in advance if you will be bringing a friend as backup. No one likes to be surprised by the presence of other people if it wasn't expected. Check the TGO Trader Feedback of the buyer / seller before you commit to a transaction with them. A person having "No Feedback" is not necessarily a bad thing but watch out for people with negative ratings for past deals. Scammers love to operate in private. Be extra careful if someone with little or no public content approaches you privately regarding an ad that you posted. Consider telling them to post their reply publicly where the moderators can help keep an eye on things. Every online payment service has their own list of things you may not use their service to pay for. Failing to follow their policies could result in your account with them being terminated, funds frozen or loss of buyer/seller protection. Be sure you know what they allow. Zelle, Venmo, PayPal Friends & Family and other services may not offer much (or any) payment protection. We recommend cash for in person transactions and PayPal Goods & Services for any non-restricted sales of things that are being shipped. Again, be sure that you know what the payment service provides and allows and be sure to check buyer/seller feedback here on TGO. Be willing to pay a little more for insurance from the payment service or shipper. Why Can't I Post New Threads? Are you a Benefactor member? As a thank you for supporting TGO, we typically give our Benefactors elevated permissions in some of our forums. When you buy a Benefactor membership, you're paying for a media service (TGO) similar to paying for a magazine subscription. You aren't buying the "right" to buy or sell anything on TGO. We merely make those areas available to you as a Thank You for helping us provide this forum to the public. Click here to become a Benefactor member. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact the Staff. This article evolves over time, and we always appreciate your ideas.1 point
