  1. First off let me say these are one off items. I don't see them being repeated anytime in the near future. The letter opener was made cause it was completely worn out and just hated to throw it away. The Tanto Kata- Aizu Shintogo pair were made cause I just wanted to see if I could. They are sooooo labor intensive and in no way I can rush through one. I can't tell you how many times I just said the heck with it and left it on my work bench and walked away. If you can't handle tedious then this isn't something you should consider making.

  2. It's too bad that investment rates don't approach the loan interest rates.

  3. Took the Defensive Revolver course at Royal Range USA last night. There's no way I could keep it to myself. Shane Kerwin was the instructor. I can't say enough about the course of instruction or follow-up training material. First off the range, classroom, retail shop and facilities are amazing. Well done and laid out nicely for both men and woman. Second, even though I was the only shooter in a twelve man class, it still took place. I was very, very surprised. Shocked is a better word for it. I expected it to be canceled as wheel gunners are few and far between these days and it's hard to squad up two or three much less twelve. Either way, I got a notice the event was on and I was there promptly at 3:45 eagerly waiting instruction.... and that's what I got. Shane has a fantastic military back ground... way too much to mention here, but that's not as important as his delivery method or methodical approach. I've primarily shot IDPA, so I've got a few 'less then tactical' ways to draw and reload. These mostly center around my "work space." Shane as all over it in a way that was more informational and informative then "Thou Shall Not" doctrine. Once I heard the reasons and logic, I instantly was converted to the method. That is to say, everything we covered made sense... there was no ego or authoritarianism in the room, only and expert and a novice with much to learn. Great class will take many more in the future!

  4. Well you beat me to getting the pictures posted to the forum. I was going to try and get them this weekend. I will just say the pictures do not come close to the beauty and craftsmanship of these pieces. The letter opener can open letters, boxes, change tires, remove walls etc. It sits proudly on my desk at home. My wife did let me keep the red Tanto but she took the other one and it sits in her display cabinet by her chair. She is constantly admiring it. Now I have to sleep with one eye open. Thanks for adding more beautiful, handmade, quality items to our home.

  5. Kennedy was assassinated with a Carcano M91 carbine. President’s Day is Monday. Regardless, PSA has had these for a while now. Not much of a market for what is now kind of an oddball caliber.

  7. I imagine if someone is curious what the ramifications are, all they need do is look at history. In this case, Dan Wesson. A company being poorly run and unable to maintain standards as it circled the drain. Sound familiar? This can only mean good thing’s for the pony. CZ has a good eye in recognizing they can make bank on a recognized name with a rabid fan base. The profitability with their retro lines especially. I would love to see them bring back their rifle line to what it was.

  8. That’s only $30 over MSRP. Not bad if it’s brand new. Then again G&A always has weird prices. The Python is the only Colt that ever interested me. Maybe now that CZ is taking the reins they’ll start making some blued ones.

  9. Memphis area forecasting anywhere from 5-9" of snow and probably ice/freezing rain before that gets here. All this starts Sunday night and continues until Tuesday. Calling for snow all day Monday. TV weather says be ready for anything. I don't do well with cold anymore. Back when I was working, the worse the weather got, the more likely I'd have to go out in it. Thank God for retirement! I'm hunkered down, got plenty of supplies. Generator if the power goes out. Ain't been much of anywhere for about a year now, why should this worry me?

  13. I recently "re-did" things as well. I found it very useful to sit down with a mortgage broker to discuss everything. She really helped explain some things and helped with the amortization. In the end we went with a modified mortgage from our existing lender, but having the expert advice working in my corner made me comfortable with the process.

  14. Look at total cost to refinance, your incumbent lender should be more competitive vs. introducing a new financial institution as to the cost to refinance goes, and all should be very close i.e. first or second decimal on the actual rate. This is what I recall when I last did this 10+ years ago, and am one of those over thinkers. You owe it to yourself to do a thorough due diligence, its only your hard earned money in jeopardy.

  16. That's about the rate/term we just got. Essentially, we knocked 5 years off the loan for ~ the same monthly payment.

  21. I think this is a good thing for Colt! I hope that CZ works to bring back the luster that the Colt name once had and makes Colt products that are both great quality and also affordable to the common man. I've always loved Colt revolvers, but they are just priced way passed my purchasing point, when so many other firearms are of equal or better quality for a cheaper price.

  25. I don't think any state has rescinded constitutional carry, but most, if not all, that do have it have a permit process for reciprocity with other states. Reciprocity is the only reason I would keep my CCP, just in case I have to go out of state for any reason.

  26. The last two times the show happened I drove to it and kept on driving seeing the line of people. Hopefully its a little better this time but I doubt it. All that being said, there's a little part of me that wants to set up a booth and unload some ammo while its at this price point though

  29. As I have said before, I only have a slight problem with someone lining up and waiting to get heir ammo EVERY DAY and then reselling at a reasonable profit. It is paying for their time. That is unless, like I know some of our local guys are, they are on government disability because they are "unable to work". If you are able to get up and be in line at Academy with your wife and 5 kids to buy 3 boxes of ammo each every truck day, then you and your snot brats should be working. I am not happy ablout paying taxes to support you are you resell ammo at a profit. Was in our local Academy again last night. Still just the same 4 boxes of $5 per shell turkey shot as for the last 2 weeks. I have found a few things I could order for store pickup before they sold out, but ammo (aside from shotgun shells) never show up. Last I got was a set of dies 2 weeks ago.

  30. I look at American guns like I do American beer. The domestic heavyweights have been so lackluster that my money has been going to the small business and European brands providing a superior product anyway. So this latest development won't matter much if it doesn't work out, and might fix things if it does. Either way, I'm fine with it.

  31. I still have no idea how they can predict freezing rain-it's not supposed to get over 20°-up North we would have called it a snow event-after all what is snow but already frozen rain- It ain't gonna freezing rain at 10°

  32. only 2-4" forecast here, but that's enough or the freezing rain would do it. I'm not retired yet but still working from home so I'm good. last freezing rain we had I wound up on my butt on the side of I24 when I stopped to clear ice from the windshield. 3 ft of the shoulder was clear as were the traffic lanes but I just HAD to go to the passenger side. went back home that day.
