  1. First off let me say these are one off items. I don't see them being repeated anytime in the near future. The letter opener was made cause it was completely worn out and just hated to throw it away. The Tanto Kata- Aizu Shintogo pair were made cause I just wanted to see if I could. They are sooooo labor intensive and in no way I can rush through one. I can't tell you how many times I just said the heck with it and left it on my work bench and walked away. If you can't handle tedious then this isn't something you should consider making.

  2. Took the Defensive Revolver course at Royal Range USA last night. There's no way I could keep it to myself. Shane Kerwin was the instructor. I can't say enough about the course of instruction or follow-up training material. First off the range, classroom, retail shop and facilities are amazing. Well done and laid out nicely for both men and woman. Second, even though I was the only shooter in a twelve man class, it still took place. I was very, very surprised. Shocked is a better word for it. I expected it to be canceled as wheel gunners are few and far between these days and it's hard to squad up two or three much less twelve. Either way, I got a notice the event was on and I was there promptly at 3:45 eagerly waiting instruction.... and that's what I got. Shane has a fantastic military back ground... way too much to mention here, but that's not as important as his delivery method or methodical approach. I've primarily shot IDPA, so I've got a few 'less then tactical' ways to draw and reload. These mostly center around my "work space." Shane as all over it in a way that was more informational and informative then "Thou Shall Not" doctrine. Once I heard the reasons and logic, I instantly was converted to the method. That is to say, everything we covered made sense... there was no ego or authoritarianism in the room, only and expert and a novice with much to learn. Great class will take many more in the future!

  6. I picked up a 3d printer last year and I've enjoyed some of the projects that I've made. It's been useful for a lot of stuff. I made an AR15 bolt vice that has been one of my most used tools. I made a sight pusher for Glocks that I've used quite successfully. I've printed up a few extended mag releases for 10/22s. It's been useful and fun. I recently got the files to start trying to print some guns. My first attempt was a 10/22. It took four prints before I got the kinks worked out and made a receiver that would actually work. The first several were undersized or I had extrusion issues that made them not worth trying to fix. Then I got this printed. This one was spot on for dimensions and the bolt ran great in it. But before I could test fire it, I dropped it and it cracked. The receiver split at the ejection port around to the barrel opening. I had it installed in a magpul stock and the muzzle end of the barrel hit the ground first. Without a barrel band, the chamber end of the barrel pushed up on the receiver in the right way to split it. I've been convinced that this can be fixed but I did print a replacement. The replacement is also too tight and I've sanded on it for days trying to get it to work and it's just not happening so I got back on trying to fix this receiver. Some black JB Weld two part epoxy has this receiver stronger than ever. I pulled the split apart as much as I could without making it worse and let the epoxy run down into it so that there is plenty in the split but also lining the outside. But of course now it won't fit in a stock. So I've been sanding it down to get it to fit. I know that it's lost a lot of color but a little heat brings that color right back. I'm hoping to test this receiver out this weekend. The other project that I've been working on is a Glock 17 clone. This first picture is of the frame almost straight off the printer. I removed a little of the support material before I thought to take a picture. The second picture is with the support material removed. This design uses a three piece rail system. One piece front rail and two in the rear. Here is a shot of the rails installed. As parts have trickled in I've continued to assemble this one. I'm unable to find a trigger pin right now so I don't know when this one will get finished. But this is in it's current state. I was particularly excited about how well this print came out. Not so much the print quality as the dimensions. Check out the fit of this light on the rail. I'm excited to get the rest of the parts in so that I can see if this will work out. I'll be sure to keep this thread updated.

  7. TN / GA / AL Training Group On Saturday February 27 we will hold our 1st meeting for the TN/GA/AL Training Group for 2021 ! Instructor: Randy Harris (http://harriscombative.com/about/) Location: The usual place- Phillips/Edwards Farm 763 County Rd 332 Pisgah AL 35765 Time: 9AM CENTRAL time - 3PM CENTRAL time Price: $80 - pay at class cash or check. What you need to bring: Pistol, pistol magazines and 150 rounds of ammo. Revolvers are welcome if you want to party like it is 1899. We will work on smoothing out our pistol skills and will shoot several new and challenging drills that we have not done before and work to be more competent and confident with the weapon we carry most...our pistol. The pistol is far more likely to be the weapon you will have at hand when trouble starts be it robbery, terrorism or whatever. This will give participants a chance to shoot some timed and scored drills and get a feel for where their skill level is and see where they can improve . Also I will be making some 9mm ammo available so you can replenish some of what you shoot. So bring some extra cash (or check or paypal or whatever) if you want some ammo. Looking forward to seeing you there! For those wondering what the TN/GA/AL Training Group is all about....., the TN/GA/AL training group was first started as a regular opportunity for alumni of both Suarez International classes and any other classes taught by Randy Harris to gather and practice the various skills they had learned in class . As time has gone on it is open to all interested even if you have never trained with Randy before. It is not as much a structured class as it is a casual, low stress, "semi private coaching session" where Randy devises drills to work the specific skills that are the subject of the day. It is a "One room schoolhouse" where all levels of skill are invited and welcome. Randy has the ability to challenge the more advanced student while not making the less experienced students feel overwhelmed and to help the less experienced students along without making things boring for the more advanced students. And it is also a chance to meet some really good people who share the same interests. It is open to all, so come on out and see what we are about !

  10. Well you beat me to getting the pictures posted to the forum. I was going to try and get them this weekend. I will just say the pictures do not come close to the beauty and craftsmanship of these pieces. The letter opener can open letters, boxes, change tires, remove walls etc. It sits proudly on my desk at home. My wife did let me keep the red Tanto but she took the other one and it sits in her display cabinet by her chair. She is constantly admiring it. Now I have to sleep with one eye open. Thanks for adding more beautiful, handmade, quality items to our home.

  14. I think this is a good thing for Colt! I hope that CZ works to bring back the luster that the Colt name once had and makes Colt products that are both great quality and also affordable to the common man. I've always loved Colt revolvers, but they are just priced way passed my purchasing point, when so many other firearms are of equal or better quality for a cheaper price.

  18. Wow! I’ve never had a problem with my neighbors. When I purchased my house the guy next door came over and introduced himself, told me his garage is always open and if I needed to borrow anything to feel free to use and return it. I never did. It doesn’t feel right just going on someone else’s property and removing their possessions without a conversation. His actions left a good impression on me so I started doing the same thing each time a new neighbor moved in. I never offered free passage into my garage, but I would offer the use of lawn equipment and tools if they needed anything while getting settled. The people in that video obviously had ongoing problems long before that snow day.

  20. Very sad to hear. As a teenager growing up in the 60s, the Motown Sound filled the air waves. The Supremes stayed at the top of the charts. Wonderful group and wonderful memories. They don't make singers like her anymore.

  21. The murderer fired the first several shots at the ground or in the air. And they still were hurling insults at him. The woman pulled out her phone and said she had it on camera. This had been a long ongoing feud but the fact that the folks just really could not grasp that he was for real and their lives were in danger boggles the mind. The couple did not deserve to die like that, but the story is coming out from the neighbors say that they were not innocent players in all of this. You never know who you’re dealing with and you never know when that psycho switch is going to flip. You just can’t go around pushing people because sometimes you find that you end up dead. ETA: This all relates to some of the recent road rage discussions we’ve had.

  22. I was a teenager in the 1960s and a young soldier in a drug infested Army from 72-75. Believe it or not, I went through all that and never once have used any form of recreational pharmaceuticals, including marijuana. Nope, I was a drunk instead. I've got nothing against anybody who has an occasional toke now and then. And I fully understand the benefits of medical marijuana. But I never have understood the whole CBD thing. Ok, so its marijuana but you took the good stuff out? What's the point in that? Nothing but snake oil to me. I won't waste money on it. And yeah, the stuff is everywhere.

  23. I was just fixin' to post this. I saw it on another board. Yeah, a lot of folks seem disappointed that Colt may belong to a European company. However, its better than going to some huge conglomerate holding company that will just rape it and dump the leftovers. CZ is a gun company and a darn good one. Hopefully, they will keep making Colt firearms here in the USA. Heck, maybe we'll finally see a blue 2020 Python.
