I work at Academy part time and we get ammo in regularly. The problem is the guys standing in line and buying the ammo up to resale. I know it's capitalism but it still annoys the crap out of me. If those people would stop ammo would become much more available, a lot of times we are our own worst enemy.6 points

I grew up in Atlanta and had the occasion to meet Aaron several times. You couldn’t find a person who was more worthy of a kid’s admiration. I can remember a bunch of times in the old Atlanta-Fulton County stadium days after he’d retired, where he and Dale Murphy would practically be the last ones in the stadium. He’d stay until he had signed every ball and talked to every kid who wanted to meet him.4 points

No, that is NOT capitalism, it's profiteering. Capitalism assumes adding value. People who wait on line to buy ammo, then sell it two hours later are contributing mightily to the whole problem. At best it's unethical.4 points

Cool! Another cartridge we won't be able to find. I'd prefer they design a new primer....one that can be found on dealer shelves.3 points

I just get surplus military ammo cans and some dense cell foam and make my own. Metal and water tight. If you are storing for a while, pick up some bags of silica gel (easy to find on Amazon) and drop one in each can to control moisture.2 points

That may be true, but a recent trend is to get better performance at long range by moving the shoulder back on an existing or similar cartridge and making it easier to use heavy-for-caliber/higher ballistic coefficient bullets at the same OAL. This method is what made the 6.5 Creedmoor so popular. .277 has been ignored by the high BC bullet makers, so I don’t know why this cartridge popped up. Maybe they know something I don’t. Whatever the case, I can’t imagine that it extends a 5.56 only 100 yards. A .277 caliber 175 grain bullet @2835 fps should destroy a 5.56 range-wise.2 points

Baseball legend Hank Aaron, who broke Babe Ruth's career home run record, has died, the Atlanta Braves announced Friday. He was 86. Aaron broke the Babe's record of 714 home runs in 1974 with a shot to the left field bullpen at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium. When Aaron hit home run number 715, he had been with the Braves since his debut in 1954, when the team was located in Milwaukee. "Hammerin' Hank" would belt another 40 out of the park for a total of 755 homers before he finished his career in 1976 with the Milwaukee Brewers. Aaron was inducted into baseball's Hall of Fame in 1982.2 points

I have both 74 and 47 Magpul mags. They work fine. I have a couple of the gen 3's and they are a really tight fit for most of my guns. I think the steel commercial Bulgarians are the best buy at the moment.2 points

Sorry to disappoint you, but I gave up on finding a decent gun shop in memphis years ago. I rarely bother going to any of them any more. Guns & Ammo on Summer Ave is probably the biggest. They also have the biggest prices, biggest crowds and very rarely have any used guns at all. Classic Arms on Germantown PKWY generally has a fair selection of used guns, but they know what they're worth too. I haven't seen any kind of Mil-Surps in a Memphis gun shop in years. If there actually is a good gun shop in memphis, I'd sure like to hear about it.2 points

Man, since they closed politics we're left with disussing jeans and genealogy. I miss arguing with some of you. Also, I will not purchase Levi jeans ever. Especially since there are plenty of other options.2 points

True enough, but Levis is not just anti-gun. They fully support the whole range of ultra-liberal causes. Everything from abortion to illegal immigration and are extremely proud of the fact that they helped San Francisco become a sanctuary city. They are the enemy and are happy to spend lots of their money for their leftist causes. I will not support that.2 points

I need some opinions on some items i want to buy without end up wasting money. I need a new holster for my Glock G45 9mm to wear outside the waistline. Maybe something that locks over the back of the slide while in the holster. Any manufacturers i should consider? I need a rifle case for my AR. It has a 16" barrel and 32" total in length. Id like to have enough space for the rifle a side arm and a couole of mags. Ive seen plano, pelican, savior nanuk and case club on amazon. Looking for something sturdy but not something i need to spend a arm and a leg on. Finally im looking to buy a "tactical" magazine ammo box to store my 5.56 mags in maybe 9mm as well. Cant seem to find a quality one, prefer metal instead of plastic. Thanks in advance.1 point

I have some of the Korean tanker mags. They run well. They are notorious about their tab thickness causing them not to lock in on some guns. Newest ones are suppose to be better, but if not a few passes with a file and you get that custom fit1 point

I vote with my wallet as well. I buy the least expensive consumable that will get the job done in a satisfactory manner.1 point

So it is a known fact that Academy gets their ammo (if they get any at all, there was none today) on Monday and Friday. The first 10 or so folks start lining up at about 7:45am I suppose. I usually get there by 8:15 after taking my daughter to school. By the time they open at 9:00 there is often a fairly good line. You only get three boxes. If one box is 150rnd or more, the other two have to be less than 150. You are not supposed to go back through the line. I have not seen enough ammo in stock on a given day (except right before Christmas when the got a TON of ammo) to even last the entire line of folks. Monday I was able to get three 50 rnd boxes of 9mm, good for a day at the range. They usually get a good bit of 9mm (both target and defense). I have not seen 45 for a while except in MS right after Christmas. They did happen to have 38 Special on Monday.1 point

I've went through dozens of holsters before finally deciding on just a plain pancake style leather holster for daily carry. I found a good custom holster maker (https://www.desertgunleather.com) and have been having him make all of my holsters since. I do usually have to wait 4-6 weeks for any new holster. The only non-pancake holster I've purchased in the last few years is I had Rick make an Avenger style holster for the IWI Masada setup for a Holosun dot sight. I prefer leather holsters for comfort. Wet-molded leather has enough retention for my use since I don't plan on running... not even to chase down an ice-cream truck. <grin>1 point

No issue out of that MOE version in any of my AK's. Hair tight in my Polish AK. They dont fit a couple speed loaders designed for the smaller metal form factor. If you like poly mags, I recommend the Bulgy poly's. They are metal reinforced and fit well in pretty much anything and are inexpensive. I have some steel Bulgy's that wont fit my Polish but good in others. If you look at tanker size 20 rounds. The PMAG version I tried (4 of them) would spring bind at 19 rounds FWIW.1 point

I am buying so I can shoot. But I am sure there are some re-sellers. Academy has kept their prices reasonable. I think I have paid between $0.24 and $0.30 per round for 9mm. As long as folks on Gunbroker continue to pay stupid amounts for ammo (near $1.00 per round fir 9mm) people will resell.1 point

My 43 is pretty snappy. My G19 is much better for recoil, and probably about the size of the EZ.1 point

And to think the Dem’s are sitting back with cocktails in hand and laughing as they argue about how much higher they could raise Ammo tax’s. Its really sad because some people will just stop teaching their children to shoot because of the cost. Many of the older folks I had worked with stoped going out to practice because of the cost. Very sad times, Mike1 point

I'm pretty sure that if you measure them, you'll find the #11 is larger than the #10. #11's work on my Thompson Renegade rifle, but fall off my repro 1858 Remington revolver.1 point

Yes, Please. I'll back you! Foreign JUNK? You mean like Walther, Sig, H&K, CZ, Glock, Beretta (yeah the last two do have manufacturing/assembly facilities here), Canik, IWI/IMI, those darn AK rifles, and all the others I can't name at the moment?1 point

On gunbroker they sold 525 pk. of Remington golden bullets for $245.00 plus $19.00 for shipping. That is crazy right there, sounds similar to the last .22 shortage prices1 point

Ho-hum. Not compatible with any existing semi-auto platforms. So bolt-action only. That limits it's usefulness and appeal. I'll stick with 6.5 creedmoor in larger platforms and 6.5 Grendel in the smaller one. I'll be very interested to see if it's still around 10 years from now, and who it appealed to.1 point
