  1. United We Stand. Divided We Fall. From this point forward, non Second Amendment political and legislative discussions are no longer welcome on TGO. Longtime members of TGO may now roll their eyes and mutter, "Not this crap again. We've been here before." Rightly so. We have attempted several times to allow our members to discuss general politics in a mature manner. We have begged, pleaded, threatened and banned in the effort of making it work. It never does. It always falls apart. There is barely such a thing as polite and respectful political discourse in mixed company even when you limit it to talking about firearms and the right to bear them. Thankfully that is what TGO is about. The right to bear arms. We are staunch supporters of the Second Amendment. We are also not ignorant to the fact that we must educate and inform each other when it comes to politics and those political creatures we mentioned previously. We cannot put our heads in the sand. We discuss these things as a matter of necessity - not because we find it enjoyable. But that is where we now draw the line. From now on, if it isn't about politics or legislation that directly affects the Second Amendment, take it somewhere else. We don't need the division here. It is almost cyclical, but the next four years look bleak for gun owners. We are going to have to be more united than ever. We have to find our common ground and stand together atop it. We cannot waver and we must remind ourselves that no matter our differences we are still Americans and, hopefully, we are proponents and defenders of the Second Amendment. We hope you understand. If you don't and you disagree, we hope you'll at least respect the decision. And if you can't do that, we hope you'll find a new place to talk about politics and guns and whatever else. Because it won't be here. I'm done with it and I care about you all and about our freedoms too much to suffer another moment of division and bickering about anything more consequential than your favorite sportsball team. United We Stand. Divided We Fall. God Save The Republic.

  2. Over the course of my career, my work has taken me to a lot of unpopular places in the world. I've seen the effects of unmitigated hatred as people kill one another in places like Bosnia Herzegovina and Croatia. I've spent plenty of time in the Middle East, and even though I'm only in my mid-40's, I can remember what a awesome city Damascus was before the war. I've slept in the shadow of Khobar Towers. For a bunch of years, my job often took me to these unpopular places. Talking to a counselor several years ago, she argued that there shouldn't be a D on PTSD. That nothing is wrong with you - that everything you're experiencing is a normal reaction to extreme stress. I've thought about that a lot over the years. I found myself thinking about it yesterday as I watched the events of yesterday unfold. I found myself getting irritated. My heart rate was up above where it normally is, and I couldn't seem to relax - nor could I really focus on anything particularly well either. I know these signs, and knew that I was going to have nightmares last night. I've got a lot of support in my life. I have a hard time with the word blessing - but this is an area where I'm truly blessed. But I've spoken to a lot of folks today that I know don't have that support in their life. That haven't gotten the support they've needed. Vets. Foreign Service. Agency friends. A lot of us watched yesterday and found ourselves in a weird place. We've seen what happened yesterday a bunch of times other places - but maybe don't have a place to put it when it has happened here. Anyway, that's a long way of saying - if yesterday has opened old wounds - or maybe opened one some you didn't realize you had - there are folks here in a similar place. I'm happy to talk anytime if you need something. Feel free to reach out.

  3. I've used the TACO pouch for a couple years and they work just fine. I like the fact that I can carry either AR or AK on my plate carrier with the same pouch. https://www.highspeedgear.com/hsgi/taco-11TA00.html

  4. Been lurking for awhile and figured it's time to pay up. I closed a gun shop 5 years ago in collierville and have many small items to get rid of I'll be posting a few each week. I've done business with several members and I've really had nothing but good to say about any of you guys. When I read through the posting of a Glock 20 for sale, I knew I had to be part of this organization.

  5. Hi I’m going to be honest, I have enough going on in my personal life to not really worry so much about what happened in Washington. I understand people are angry but there is no excuse for what those idiots did at the capital building. My dad was in the hospital with Covid he’s home now and still having a hard time. My mother has not been eating well and not doing well at all either. On top of that my wife just had a replacement hip surgery done, she’s doing pretty good with it, I am really amazed. So what happens in Washington with those idiots , I have a hard time worrying about it. I do believe things will work out for the better in the long run. As soon as the socialist Democrats try to implement any of their policies I’m sure they will be shot down in due time.

  7. Revolvers are having, or needing, a resurgence?? I didn’t get the notification. Altamont Grips is going strong. But we have lost the original S&W factory grips, and Ahrends Grips. I don’t know how any self respecting gun owner could even consider Kydex for a holster; but it certainly is an option. There are plenty of leather options available from cheap junk to quality holsters. But of course leather holsters cost more than plastic ones. Since CRB, I’ve only added one gun. It’s a S&W model 610. I don’t foresee adding anything else soon as the prices are crazy. Almost all my carry guns are Semi-autos. But I certainly love my revolvers, and a revolver holds the #1 place in my home defense.

You need the "clipDraw" it's the BOMB for a jframe! https://www.amazon.com/ClipDraw-Concealed-Carry-Frame-Revolvers/dp/B00T1A8YAS/ref=pd_bxgy_img_2/136-9213827-8396962?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00T1A8YAS&pd_rd_r=a70a6ae3-2ffe-445a-b61a-715b379d8313&pd_rd_w=fuosi&pd_rd_wg=unfB9&pf_rd_p=f325d01c-4658-4593-be83-3e12ca663f0e&pf_rd_r=NN6ADCHF4HCJCSQ6WW9J&psc=1&refRID=NN6ADCHF4HCJCSQ6WW9J

  11. Desert Eagle in 50AE, brushed chrome finish with picatinny rail on the top of the barrel. Have no earthly way to justify the purchase other than to have fun off the back porch and to see what happens when it hits the 50 yard gong. Purchased it on Gunbrokers so it will take a week or so to get here. No hurry as I have zero components for it, not even reloading dies. Will take me a few months to gather brass, dies, and bullets as everywhere is out of stock. I double dare the local racoons or skunks to make them self visible around my house this coming spring. Figure all I need to do is get within a few feet and the shock alone will kill em, lol. Empty a mag or two into the ground should take care of the moles. Hope to add a red dot and try it out when deer hunting next season. I'll try to remember to update this post when I finally get a chance to shoot it.

  13. Well, I'm sure you know the bad news. That you can find them but, they have got expensive. It's a shame too. What model are you looking for? I'll keep a look out for what you want, and if I see anything I'll let you know.

  14. I have the Clip Draws on 2 of my LCRs and love 'em. Especially because with the LCRs they don't impede the use of a pocket holster. I've never tried the longer ones that fit a J Frame. I've used the Barami Hip grip on my 640 Smith since the early 90's. They work great with a JCMK holster I have as well as an old Mika pocket holster (of which I've had several). Pardon the crummy J Frame pic...it's an older photo...

  16. We received the Dakota 4000 driveway monitor yesterday and installed it this morning. Berried the magnetic sensor in the middle of the driveway about 45' from the end of the drive. Works great. The wireless receiver is in my dining room and loud enough that we can clearly hear it in the bedroom. The receiver is set on a 6 gong chime. The transmitter runs on 3 C123 Batteries and supposed to last 12 months. It is mounted in a shrub tree about 50" from the magnetic sensor, and to the side of the driveway. The sensor is about 275' down the drive. Wife just left to go to the store and it works great. "Hopefully" we will hear when late night visitors decide to come visiting, like they did just before Christmas.

  18. I really don't believe they want to try that. It sounds all warm and fuzzy to "take your guns". But when it comes to that actually taking place, it won't be good for anyone. I don't think they want the "war" that would ensue should they try that. Does anyone else find it funny that they would use their guns to take ours? So it really isn't an issue that they dislike guns, they just dislike us having guns.

  22. I renewed mine in December 2020. $50 for another eight years. I decided to just do that. Even though I'm only 30 now, fronting an additional $150 for "lifetime" didn't make sense to me. I figured in essence, $150 for me will get another 24 years on top of what I just renewed, as I had to spend the $50.00 anyways. So the question to me was the opportunity cost of the additional $150.00. I argued internally that who knows what the firearms landscape will look like in another four years...much less 24 to 32 years. 32 years from now, feel free to come back and prove me wrong. That said, the convenience factor almost made me do the lifetime. But then I quickly realized that you could put $150.00 in essentially any SP500 ETF and end up with...$968.01 after 32 years assuming 6% growth. And if the stock market is bad 32 years from now...I'm not sure your HCP will be worth much of anything either.

  24. While not competition oriented, I recently received an AIWB Kydex from Tony at JM Custom Kydex for my 4" 686 S&W. It's darn nice and actually allows me to comfortably carry and conceal this revolver. FWIW this 686 was my original carry gun in the late 1980's. I carried in leather at the time, but I'm really impressed with what Tony was able to do. Great vid @JimHouchin! I promise Tony's holster won't give you guys that problem LOL https://www.jmcustomkydex.com/p/AIWB.html

  25. My take on GB is there is no real rhyme or reason, sometimes a seller gets two guys going at it and lucks out. Most of the time, these types of bidders tend to have low feedback. I recently sold a new Marlin 30-30 factory scoped rifle with its box. It was made around 2011. Pre pandemic they ran $700 full retail with dealers selling at mid 400's. Nothing special other than it might have had a couple more steel parts compared to polymer on recent production. In checking GB, only one Marlin 30-30 was listed and it was identical with a very close serial number. Also NIB. It was sitting @ 750 with about 9 days left. Same scenario, couple guys bidding when it stalled 9 days out. I went ahead and listed mine on a 7 day to end before that one. Low starting with a BIN of $800 thinking the other was had to e mostly run out, and one of its bidders may do the BIN to be done with it. Surely that other one couldnt go much over 800 if the current bidders jockeyed for it in the end. Mine sold the day of listing at the BIN and it was not one of the bidders from the other Marlin. I was happy. But I did the thing I should not have done....watched how that other one ended. It stayed @ $750 until the final day. One the final day 2 bidders ran it up to $1500 !! For a run of the mill recent production gun that most would not see as desirable. Most of all not on any politicians endangered list. These two guys were both low count and all I could figure was they got caught up in the bidding frenzy or thought others would not be coming along. I'd bet many dont know how to check prior sales to note these are still coming in with dealers selling them on GB for around retail. Strange times. But if one is inclined to reduce inventory, its a good time to sell.

  26. Lots of good hunting east of Nashville. Drive around a rural or farm area you like and knock on doors. If you present yourself half way decent, you'll be surprised how receptive folks are. Also, try and get ahold of a TWRA officer in your area. They know of farmers who are complaining of crop/property damage.

  28. I’ve known a few. First, my father served on either a battleship or destroyer (feeble minded me can’t remember which) and saw a lot of action in the pacific in WW2. He got out then joined the army and fought in Korea in the infantry, followed by service in Germany. He drank a lot. I believe he suffered from ptsd, although that wasn’t recognized then. I regret not being able to have adult conversations with him before he died. Second, I was stationed with and became good friends with a former USAF pararescueman (PJ) who was the most decorated enlisted man in the USAF, and I think still is that. When I met him, he was our first sgt, which in the USAF is a job, not a rank. He later retrained from thst into our police field and became our chief cop. He died I think in the early 90s. CMSgt Duane Hackney. Duane went to VietNam after his PJ training. Here’s a couple links about him, if you want to read about him. You will be impressed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duane_D._Hackney https://www.airforcemag.com/article/0110heroism/ https://valor.militarytimes.com/hero/3553 https://www.wearethemighty.com/mighty-history/most-decorated-pararescue-duane-hackney/

  30. Crimson Trace CMR-206. High powered green laser for most daylight shooting and can be mounted on the top rail in front of most optics without obstructing the sight picture. I like that model because it's small and light. The Streamlight TLR-8 is a pretty good unit as well if you want a light/laser combo but will require an M-LOK Section. Looks too bulky to me on the charger but it was functional.

  33. I always enjoy your posts, and usually agree with them. Things like this, however, is why we all hate seeing a yankee in a U-haul truck. It is your property. Do with it as you please. We are simply trying to illustrate hypothetical situations in which your ideas might not work out so well. I have wonderful neighbors. I often see one neighbor headed back across my property to maintain his stock fence. No problem. He doesn’t need to stop and ask permission. If I’m not busy, I might go help him. To have good neighbors, it helps to be one. There might come a time I could use his help. No doubt he’d he there. I don’t think he booby traps his property either. Somehow we get by.
