  1. Desert Eagle in 50AE, brushed chrome finish with picatinny rail on the top of the barrel. Have no earthly way to justify the purchase other than to have fun off the back porch and to see what happens when it hits the 50 yard gong. Purchased it on Gunbrokers so it will take a week or so to get here. No hurry as I have zero components for it, not even reloading dies. Will take me a few months to gather brass, dies, and bullets as everywhere is out of stock. I double dare the local racoons or skunks to make them self visible around my house this coming spring. Figure all I need to do is get within a few feet and the shock alone will kill em, lol. Empty a mag or two into the ground should take care of the moles. Hope to add a red dot and try it out when deer hunting next season. I'll try to remember to update this post when I finally get a chance to shoot it.

  4. A nice .22 target pistol. Ruger or S&W Victory. Not all handguns need a purpose, some are just for fun. Making tin cans dance at 50 yards is immensely satisfying.

  5. Folks, I am now a Black class Benchmade dealer so if you want one let me know, my two favorites are the AFO2 and the Automatic Adamas if you are considering any of these knives the only short coming I see with them is their factory edges, which I will correct and make scary sharp if you buy one through me my prices are MAP minimum advertised prices that include a $35 sharpening if you would like it for all non serrated blades and just in case any of you did not know, as of 2014 automatic knives are perfectly legal to carry in our great state

  10. Improve something you got? The recent subgun thread got me thinking, I pulled out my PPS-43 and said to myself, "why not SBR it, I've got all my gun niches pretty well filled with what I've got."

  11. Took the ole lady out to the range to shoot her Christmas present! I’d say she done pretty good for a first time pistol shooter! Couldn’t help but take my new FN 509 along for the ride. Shot surprisingly good with 115g reloads.

  14. I got qualified at 600 yesterday. To get AP qualified, contact the office to get the AP qualification form. There are two ways to get qualified—1. contact one of the AP ROs listed on the qualification form and schedule a time to qualify or 2. shoot a match (Steel Challenge, USPSA, or IDPA). Qualifying by shooting a match is much easier for the shooter and the RO. They can’t always meet you when you need them.

  16. In all the vastness of the Universe, to think that we are the only intelligent (?) life is the ultimate in human arrogance. Have other sentient species developed space travel to the point where they can visit here? I don't know. I kinda hope they are that much more advanced than we are. But then again, if they are intelligent, why would they want to speak to this bunch of idiots? I believe Earth is kinda like the Detroit of the galaxy. Everybody knows where it is, its just that nobody wants to come here unless they absolutely have to.

  17. E4 I will try and address several good issues you have raised. First, it is entirely possible we had 'different' TN state HCP courses. Best I recall, got my permit in '96. The course has been modified by many instructors to include a lot of personal opinion, ad lib, shortened hours, etc. Plus the state has had official changes implemented over the years, the next one effective Jan 1, 2021. For many years the course was done by an official state mandated outline which left the door open for the above noted varibles. Over the past 4 years or so the outline was changed to a PowerPoint presentation which has to be gone over in its entirety. Minimal time for much ad lib. This is a positive change which gives greater consistency in the program state wide and thus less room (note I didn't say no room) for confusion. And don't forget changes in the law that can occur twice a year. I have been a state instructor for the past 7 years and am still active. In fact I have a course scheduled at Pellisippi State the 16th you are welcomed to attend and simply audit if you like. I routinely attend and read multiple legal seminars and discuss many of these issues with other instructors as well. So I do actively stay up to date, but am always open to discussion. To my best recall, I do not remember any car-jacking videos by the state. Maybe after I got my permit, but before I started instructing. The home breakin you refer to is still present. The robber was armed with a golf club he picked up in the home, but really does not make any difference. As you referenced, the law does state that it is assumed that someone breaking into your home is considered to be a threat of serious bodily injury or death, and one is certainly allowed to use deadly force. You seemed to confuse and reference SYG with Castle doctrine, which are two entirely different and separate issues. Also neither, as DaveTN noted, gives one a free shooting permit. Castle doctrine for the home and auto are similar, but there are some differences, those points have been discussed previously in this post, but again the most important is that your passenger compartment has to be breeched, not withstanding a firebombing or trying to turn your car over. Still much active debate in the gun community...as noted vehicle damage from banging on it...not a shootable situation, plus you can drive off. Finally I pretty much agree entirely with your last paragraph.

  19. 36 states have a SYG law. Only 5 of those states are absolute SYG which means reasonableness cannot be used to counter the fact of SYG; TN is not one of those states. The physical battle is all important, but the legal battle where you are subject to decisions by others is just as important and very expensive as well.

  21. We would all like to have a blueprint of what the law requires in any given situation to determine if we can legally use deadly force. We don’t have that. The closest we have is this… Deadly force is justified if a reasonable person believes deadly force is required to prevent death or great bodily harm.”. There are many variations on that wording. We have these discussions/arguments/bickering all the time here. And that’s a good thing. People need to understand all the ins and outs. Two of the most misunderstood terms I see in these discussions is usually “Castle Doctrine” and “Duty to Retreat”. The Castle Doctrine does not create a free fire zone; you can still be charged. And Tennessee doesn’t need to tell you that you don’t have a duty to retreat because as best I can tell; they never had had that as a requirement. Those laws are generally in states that at one time had a duty to retreat. “Reasonable Person” is a Judge or jury, if you go to trial. They will decide if what you did was “reasonable”. What you did will be judged by strangers that will make decisions that could alter your life and the lives of your family. The responding Officers, The investigators, The DA, and ultimately a Judge or Jury, that have hours or even months to decide what you had to decide in seconds will determine your fate. Every case is different. Times are changing. In the past when a criminal got killed committing a violent act; no one really cared. Nowadays if it’s a cop doing the killing; the left wants them charged even when they were clearly in danger. And we have seen that happen when it shouldn’t have. They will certainly apply that same standard to armed citizens killing criminals. “It’s better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6” is a stupid statement. It’s better to not be charged, period. If you are charged with murder you will get exactly the amount of justice you can afford. That would financially destroy most of us.

  22. Oh not at all. I expect everything is an angle. I just thought this was pretty wild. I could only speculate as to the nature of what the angle behind this may be. I could even see the fed. Convincing the public aliens are real and then using the panic to their advantage.

  30. The hobby of mine is just that....a hobby. I feel in order to do this with any enjoyment and piece of mind I have to make (or attempt to make) something I am inspired to do. To make something with a certain shape, color etc. is work....something I retired from years ago. I have a certain look, style that I aim for in every knife. I guess I make what I want cause it's what I need to do in order to want to walk out to the shop in the morning. I'll loosely call it an art form or craft. This coming year I have certain projects I feel I need to at least make a stab at.....pardon the pun. I hope that if I put a certain amount of time and effort into something most of you will see the difference in the end. That's my hope anyway. I intend to get better at the small things which in turn end up with a better piece. Now this isn't to say I don't want or appreciate your ideas and suggestions cause I consider all of them. For example I can't get that brisket knife out of my head. I intend to attempt one using the tools and limited ability I have on hand while making it in a style of my own. I'm still going to make Bowies, smaller hunting knives and even Christmas like specials and whatever else gets my attention. You all have been very supportive of this journey I'm on and appreciate it very, very much. So if you're looking for something by all means let me know and I'll give you the most honest answer I can. Thanks again to the best group of people on the interwebz.

  32. China is the largest threat our country faces. If our dip#### politicians are successful in disarming us, either because China is controlling their puppet strings directly or indirectly, we are screwed. Never forget that Japan was fearful of our "rifles behind every blade of grass" during WWII. So is China.
