  1. The hobby of mine is just that....a hobby. I feel in order to do this with any enjoyment and piece of mind I have to make (or attempt to make) something I am inspired to do. To make something with a certain shape, color etc. is work....something I retired from years ago. I have a certain look, style that I aim for in every knife. I guess I make what I want cause it's what I need to do in order to want to walk out to the shop in the morning. I'll loosely call it an art form or craft. This coming year I have certain projects I feel I need to at least make a stab at.....pardon the pun. I hope that if I put a certain amount of time and effort into something most of you will see the difference in the end. That's my hope anyway. I intend to get better at the small things which in turn end up with a better piece. Now this isn't to say I don't want or appreciate your ideas and suggestions cause I consider all of them. For example I can't get that brisket knife out of my head. I intend to attempt one using the tools and limited ability I have on hand while making it in a style of my own. I'm still going to make Bowies, smaller hunting knives and even Christmas like specials and whatever else gets my attention. You all have been very supportive of this journey I'm on and appreciate it very, very much. So if you're looking for something by all means let me know and I'll give you the most honest answer I can. Thanks again to the best group of people on the interwebz.

  2. Really. Since Satan worshiping pedophiles' global sex trafficking ring rigged the election to bring down DJT, this is duck soup. And certainly 5G is part of the overall plan for total mind control by the New World Order by the socialist Illuminati. - OS

  3. Holy cow! Talk about bad luck. You park your RV in deserted downtown Nashville on Christmas morning and get hit by a missile aimed at the AT&T building. Who would have ever thunk it?

  5. Some people think mind control, source of the ‘rona, surveillance (even Batman level surveillance in which they use cell phones to virtually map the entire city), deliberately designed to cause cancer, and I’m sure the list doesn’t stop there. The “man” behind it all is usually China, Bill Gates, The Democrats, and the “Deep State”.

  6. I'm not sure how you get a missile contrail from that little blip on the video. The resolution is terrible, it doesn't look much different from any of the other artifacts and pixelizations visible to me. Looks like the YouTube poster is really reaching on his interpretation ...

  7. Your question implies that the guy had some sort of rational reason. Crazy people believe things which make no sense to normal folks, attempting to understand their logic is futile. If the current theories of what happened and who did it are true, then this guy blew himself up deliberately while trying to take down a data center. That is the very definition of a nutcase ...

  8. Summer 2018 our blower motor digital controller went out, hard to find it not in a motor. Bill was $800, he left old motor. I got the number off of motor and Amazon had exact part with twice the warranty for $200. Pays to shop. Sorry it broke in cold temps. In 2 weeks we replaced water heater and dryer bearing went out.

  9. I see it, have been exposed to it, have lost friends... folks I knew to it, but the reality of the results of the fear and evasion hit me hardest at Christmas.. My mom is almost 90.. SHARP as a razor edged tack! Still reads at least 4-6 hours every single day. I don’t know how many times she’s read her Bible cover to cover. All that said, my boys couldn’t run over and open gifts with her this year for the 1st time ever because she’s scared of catching it, and/or scared she may be getting it/passing it off to my disabled son. This virus is real, and I don’t want it, but the year of very little interaction with my nearing 90 yr old mother is something we cannot get back. Praying here daily too... The company I work for was impacted in a positive way from a business perspective - working 7-days a week with a 5-day a week crew all year. I’m 58, and this will go down as the craziest year of my life.

  13. Just get closer to your game. I called in this bobcat and took him at 35 yards with my 1966 Winchester 30-30. My eyes are 65-years-old wore out, so yes, iron sights are tough, but still work for me close up. I limit my deer shots to 50 yards with irons. Not hard if you hunt thick woods. If I'm hunting open fields, I still have some scoped bolt guns for that.

  15. WOW! I'm seeing a ton of speculation, conspiracy theories and just plain rumors here. Anybody got any actual facts other than a bomb went off and this Warner guy is the suspect? Any evidence of motive or even the type of explosive used? This thread is 9 pages and most of it is BS.

  24. Joined a few years ago but forgot all about it. Just recently started posting. Been reloading for over 50 years (yea, another old guy). Only lived in Tennessee for 5 years but we love it here. Hunted Alaska from one end to the other for decades and one quick trip to Africa. Went from the bigger magnums down to 6.5 CM, 260, .270, 7mm/08, 06, 30-30, 45-70, etc. My passion is hunting with a handgun but a recent injury has put that on hold. Hope to correct that with a lot of PT in time for next years deer season. Am proud of the fact never shot a big game animal with a factory round. Back in the 60's when I began to reload most shooters and hunters thought reloads were inferior to factory rounds. We have a 50 yard range in our backyard and our deer stands are a 200 yard walk. We eat mainly venison all year and process everything ourself. So, Hi

  26. Thanks for posting this. Yes, this is exactly the interview where, when directly asked, Fauci admitted to taking vitamin D himself, but that's the ONLY time! Plus, read what he says carefully. He says, "If you are deficient..." and then in the very next sentence, he says, "I do it myself taking vitamin D supplements." So... Fauci takes vitamin D himself while refusing to even mention vitamin D in his nearly daily interviews on national media. People can interpret this inconsistency however they wish. My interpretation is...well... extremely unflattering. I'll leave it at that. We've known that vitamin D shows promise since early April when US deaths were under 10,000. We know that the overwhelming majority of deaths, where vitamin D data was revealed, showed a deficiency in vitamin D.

  29. A quick check shows that a 1/16” punch is what people are using, and that pin is tapered and can only come out one way. But I don’t see where anyone gives the actual diameter of the pin. I use to keep out of calibration gage pins for such emergencies. Just be careful; they are hard and will break and go flying. Don’t you hate it when you try to have all the tools you need and seems like no matter what the project there is always one tool you don’t have.

  34. On the subject of wearing cloth masks... They aren't the cure. They are a mitigating mechanism. They aren't perfect. Owners of private property are within their rights to require them. You are within your right to go somewhere else if you don't like it. You aren't within your right to violate their rights as property owners. Oh, one last bullet point that should appeal to gun owners... Wearing a mask makes you the Gray Man. You blend. Not wearing a mask makes you stand out. It draws attention to you. People assume you're a dick. They might confront you over it. It's not worth the headache. "When In Rome, Do As The Romans"

  35. Now I found it. Been searching for it in this thread, but now I found it. I question whether you know what that word means or if you're using a straw-man argument to drag the Biden election sham into the discussion of COVID. To be clear: I don't think Trump seriously mishandled COVID. I do think that he should have hyped less, but that's like asking rain to not be wet. I do think that the establishment is scared as hell of Trump and weren't going to let him have Term #2 at any cost. I do think we saw that play out in broad daylight. I do think so many people hate Trump that they don't care what crimes were committed to keep him from being re-elected. I do think dark times are ahead of us. I don't think this has any bearing on the medical treatment of COVID.

  38. I don't think China would engage the US in a war with guns as the cost in human life would be too great for both sides. They will try and conquer the US thru economic and technological means, which the maroons in DC have turned a blind eye to. Businesses want to do business with China because they will make money, but they will lose their soles and technology to China.

  39. This is in no way surprising, given the totalitarian nature of the Communist government in China. However, most of the world has no history of the "right to bear arms", and much of the world imposes restrictions, many severe, on private ownership and possession of guns. As such, many people across the world, not just those in dictatorships and under repressive governments, have little understanding of gun issues in the US, and honestly can't understand or sympathize with the existence of our second amendment, the number and prevalence of privately owned arms in the US, or our desire to maintain individual gun rights and privileges. Most see it as an anachronism not relevant to modern societies, leading to a wide gulf in how we and they view gun ownership, individual rights and the necessity of an armed citizenry ...

Atleast not like initially is done. I also know people with squeaky clean records denied sales for no reason and then be fine the next day.

  43. Well we have "JM" and "Remlin" Marlins, what's next, Rugerlin? Seriously though, I am glad to see Ruger buying Marlin. And as to the original question, my favorite lever gun is my Marlin 1894 .357 18". Reloading it is a bit tedious, but it can still serve as a formidable defensive gun. 100+ years ago it was an assault rifle.

  44. Statement from Ruger about Marlin.... September 30, 2020 Sturm, Ruger and Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR) announced today that its offer to purchase substantially all of the Marlin Firearms assets was accepted by Remington Outdoor Company, Inc. and approved by the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Alabama. The Company will pay the $30 million purchase price from cash on hand at the time of closing, which is expected to occur in October. "The value of Marlin and its 150-year legacy was too great of an opportunity for us to pass up," said Ruger President and CEO Chris Killoy. "The brand aligns perfectly with ours and the Marlin product portfolio will help us widen our already diverse product offerings." The transaction is exclusively for the Marlin Firearms assets. Remington firearms, ammunition, other Remington Outdoor brands, and all facilities and real estate are excluded from the Ruger purchase. Once the purchase is completed, the Company will begin the process of relocating the Marlin Firearms assets to existing Ruger manufacturing facilities. "The important thing for consumers, retailers and distributors to know at this point in time," continued Killoy, "is that the Marlin brand and its great products will live on. Long Live the Lever Gun." Additional information will be released when available. Sign up for our email and newsletter list to receive notifications along the way. For additional information, view our FAQs section. .............................. Q: When will I be able to buy a Marlin manufactured by Ruger? Once the sale process is complete, we will begin the process of relocating Marlin Firearms assets to existing Ruger manufacturing facilities. Sometime after that, we will begin setting up production for new, Ruger-made, Marlin firearms. Our hope is to begin producing Marlin firearms sometime in the second half of 2021. Our intent is to keep true to the Marlin brand and ensure that its 150-year history and great products live on. Sign up for our email and newsletter list to receive notifications along the way. Q: What are Ruger's plans for Marlin? Will Ruger continue to manufacture current Marlin models? Once the sale process is complete, we will begin the process of relocating the Marlin Firearms assets to existing Ruger manufacturing facilities. Sometime after that, we will begin setting up production for Ruger-made, Marlin-branded firearms. Our hope is to begin producing Marlin firearms sometime in the second half of 2021. Our intent is to keep true to the Marlin brand and ensure that its 150-year history and great products live on. 45. The really cool thing about a lever rifle is that they are flat. There are no protrusions to bump against things. They slide out of a scabbard nicely. They carry well in the hand.
