Wish folks would be just as angry about the 2nd getting stepped on as much as they complain about the lack of ammo.7 points

I pretty much agree with what you wrote. I think that the political forum should be kept for those who wish to participate. I stay out of it by my choice and I like it that way. What bothers the crap out of me is when certain members want to inject their political comments into other topics. The latest example is in the SARS-COVID thread. If a member wants to repeatedly bash the president for real or imagined affronts to their delicate senses then do it in the political forum where it belongs. I don't want to see it any more than I would want to see a naked 100-year old.7 points

David, upon further reflection, I guess if I was in your position and felt the responsibility that you have taken on.....I might see it exactly as you have described. If this was my show I wouldn't want a s**tstorm either. Thanks for doing all that you do for us. It's got to be an immense amount of work.5 points

It's way past time to worry about being on a list. I'm sure I'm on every list there is. I inundate all of our representatives from local, state and federal with letters and emails. I have sent hundreds over the last few years. I'm not happy with any them. Once you become afraid to speak out you've already lost.4 points

While I do find them intriguing, I have no reason to put that sort of money into a vehicle, unless it is an investment grade antique. I’ll wait for you guys to wear them out. Then I might pick one up.4 points

Honestly though, I have found out that a forum without an antagonist or two can get quite dull.4 points
-
Yeah. Since this is David's forum, in a way, it is also a reflection of David. He definitely has a vested interest in moderating the content. We who participate are not the only folks viewing this forum. I'd go so far as to say the content here can represent most all gun owners.4 points
-
Good luck with that. Theres at least one member here thats blames EVERYTHING that's not went right in the last 4 years on the current POTUS. It winds up being like a snail trail from thread to thread. You can see how TDS was imagined up lol.4 points

Dude, you’re already on a list. Along with everyone who’s bought a gun on a 4473 or posted here or any other gun form.3 points

I would not want David's job/responsibility of trying to keep all of the " kids" straight and in our separate corners so to speak when some don't agree on things. Everyone gets a little bit big for their britches at times, and it's usually "dad" or an uncle (the mods) that has to slap someone on the back of the head and tell 'em to shut up and be quiet. TGO is a good place to visit, thanks to all the people who make it so.3 points

Theres no money for the pharmaceutical lobbiests to make selling Ivermectin OR Hydroxychloraquine, hence why you will not hear about. ... But an unproven methodology and totally novel vaccine is trumpeted from every mountain top, isn't it? Remember when they were pushing remdisivr on us and saying theres no proof vitamin D works? Ahhh, good times!3 points

It’s pretty clear they are not interested in comments. Only 18 days to submit and during the holiday season. What a joke.3 points

Since we have moved from frivolity and enjoyment of a good laugh, to the more practical and serious side of things; ill opine about " Censorship " and " Correction "... I get the idea that we are in David's House. Some of us even pay a fee to be here. This aint " Stormfront " nor whatever the most hateful lefty forum is... it's " Tennessee Gun Owners "... A lovely place of conversation for most folk of good will who like, collect, n shoot firearms...; and there are certain proprieties we observe here for both David and us " children " here on the forum; as well as a need for the projection of certain optics for those on the outside lookin in. The most lovely place i can think of is a home. A home has responsible " parents ". Parents correct the rowdy n adjust the attitudes of the disruptive from time to time. That is simply the nature of the family thing. Havin said that; I think from time to time, that we are a bit too " squeeky clean ", but that's just me. But, on balance, as the great " Pappy Menolaius O'Daniel quipped: " Its a well run machine "... Thanks to " all y'all " who run it from a former malefactor and rabid libertarian. That is all... misdemeanerin leroy...3 points

This is the way it's done here to keep the site appealing to the most people. When I drive past a landfill I don't think, "OH BOY! I WANT TO SPEND A LOT OF TIME HERE!" and neither do most sane people. I roll up my windows, hit the recirculation button on my truck's A/C and hope I don't get saturated with stench. If you have ever spent any time on a forum where they don't moderate things as evenly as we try to here, it's like hanging out in a pile of weeks old rotten food, dirty diapers and other refuse. You need a shower after spending 5-10 minutes amongst it. This shouldn't mystify you.3 points

Don’t underestimate yourself. You can change my mind with one well reasoned post. A man who refuses to challenge his on beliefs will never learn anything.3 points

Had to buy 2 tires for the truck yesterday. The place I use is in Harriman. He had 9 plastic pails filled with assorted used tire weights. They used to have a guy that came around but they haven't seen him in a while. Offered to sell me some. I'm not casting ... yet, but I know some Knox area guys are. PM me and I'll give you the location.2 points

I feel the same way about this as i feel about BLM or KKK rallies. I disagree with the principals but I have to defend the right to hold those principles. I detest price gouging, but i'm a huge fan of the Free Market Economy & capitalism & I cannot see any criminal activity in CTDs actions. Immoral? Possibly. Unethical? Probably. Unconscionable choices? Absolutely. Illegal? HELL no. This is just a case of capitalism working as it should. Don't like the price? Don't buy. Don't like CTD? Walk away, berate them online & complain. I hate them, i'll never deal with them, i'll never give them another penny, but at the same time, i do not for one second believe they've done a single thing that warrants litigation.2 points

Here my Rossi m92 I mentioned earlier, that my dad engaged the reciever. I did replace the wood with Precision Gun Works wood. It's my kids favorite shooting gun, not to mention mine! It's as great as a tactical/shtf gun as it is a great wall hanger.2 points

I would purchase a LC9S if I could find one, however I have gone to the SW MP 9 C with the 4" brl and 15 round mags. I have 2 of these MPs. Really like them and the trigger is great on them. The more I shoot the better each gun gets. First one I purchased has never failed to shoot and the second one had 3 FTE until I took it apart and cleaned and lubed it real good. I have around 200 more rounds through the second one and have had no failures since cleaning. I got 600 rounds through the first purchased MP 9. With ammo shortage, I have slacked off on firing a lot of rounds. I can carry either gun in OWB in a belt slide Aherns holster with athumb strap, or IWB in a Crossbread holster. I would pocket carry the LC9 S.2 points

That's no different that Obama's 8 years. I'm sure you remember. We had folks crying because he saluted the Marine while boarding air force one and others upset because he was photographed with his feat on the desk in the oval office. That stuff goes both ways. As for the politics section, I've not seen David say it's going away. My understanding is that they will just move some threads to the other section if they get too wild.2 points

I didn't see the comment that you are referring to, and I form this comment based on what you wrote, but not understanding someone is not the same thing as saying that you have no right to be here.2 points

The thought that they aren’t making ammunition or that they are storing it in secret warehouses is ridiculous. I constantly see people ask why they simply add more machines? Because they can’t justify the cost. When the latest “drama” in the firearms/ammo market is over, those machines would be sitting idle. I was reading the other day where part of Smith & Wesson was shut down due to employees with Covid. That takes a toll on production, because most of those jobs are skilled trades with specialized training. They can’t just go hire people off the street and have them hit the ground running. My wife works in the food industry. They usually are slow the first of the year and allow employees to take a bunch of time off if they want it. Not this year. They have been working overtime like crazy and it will continue for the foreseeable future. They too have been hit hard by Covid.2 points

If the Sig appeals to you because of the size - they other competitor in that size at that price point is the Walther P22. The first generation of those pistols suffered from similar issues - but I hear the newer ones have addressed the issues pretty well. Personally, for .22LR pistols, I’m pretty far down the rabbit hole with customized Ruger Mark series pistols. When I introduce someone to shooting and bring out all my .22LR pistols - they almost always end up purchasing a Ruger for themselves. That said, were I looking for an off the shelf .22LR pistol that would be okay in small hands, I’d probably go with an M&P22 compact. With that, you’re picking up a full 6061 milled slide with the same ergonomics as its big brothers in the series. No .22LR pistol is 100% trust your life to it reliable - that’s just a function of the round. But the M&P is probably the most reliable in the class.1 point

I picked a Ruger LC9S Pro two years ago and love it. It was my carry gun until this summer, when I let my son borrow it. Finally got it back last week and it’s been on my hip ever since. I though Ruger made a big mistake when they dropped it from the lineup in 2018. They recently brought them back out and upped the price about $150. The;new ones are selling for over $400.1 point

I guess I'll have to tread lightly as well, as it seemed @The Big Guyand I debated the same members most times. I don't know him, but I feel this could have been handled differently. I've got other outlets, so didnt see the posted notice so I could have been one that got a bit miffed if it seemed I was kicked off a section of this board while other agitators were allowed to stay. I get that this is a gun site, but if there are other forums available I'm going to post on them, my interests are varied. Hell, if things keep going like it seems it's going, all we are going to have left is politics, and maybe not even that if the new administration gets in and treats the 1st Amendment like they do the 2nd.1 point

Well......I guess it beats being deported. I got to thinking & my main concern wasn't actually me, but what if i'm hunting out west & my home gets broken into while i'm away. All of a sudden the police are looking around, find it & suddenly The Wife is a federal criminal & frankly, I don't think I could handle that amount of ear ache!1 point

Statement from Ruger about Marlin.... September 30, 2020 Sturm, Ruger and Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR) announced today that its offer to purchase substantially all of the Marlin Firearms assets was accepted by Remington Outdoor Company, Inc. and approved by the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Alabama. The Company will pay the $30 million purchase price from cash on hand at the time of closing, which is expected to occur in October. "The value of Marlin and its 150-year legacy was too great of an opportunity for us to pass up," said Ruger President and CEO Chris Killoy. "The brand aligns perfectly with ours and the Marlin product portfolio will help us widen our already diverse product offerings." The transaction is exclusively for the Marlin Firearms assets. Remington firearms, ammunition, other Remington Outdoor brands, and all facilities and real estate are excluded from the Ruger purchase. Once the purchase is completed, the Company will begin the process of relocating the Marlin Firearms assets to existing Ruger manufacturing facilities. "The important thing for consumers, retailers and distributors to know at this point in time," continued Killoy, "is that the Marlin brand and its great products will live on. Long Live the Lever Gun." Additional information will be released when available. Sign up for our email and newsletter list to receive notifications along the way. For additional information, view our FAQs section. .............................. Q: When will I be able to buy a Marlin manufactured by Ruger? Sometime after that, we will begin setting up production for new, Ruger-made, Marlin firearms. Our hope is to begin producing Marlin firearms sometime in the second half of 2021. Our intent is to keep true to the Marlin brand and ensure that its 150-year history and great products live on. Sign up for our email and newsletter list to receive notifications along the way. Q: What are Ruger's plans for Marlin? Will Ruger continue to manufacture current Marlin models? I have a Henry Big Boy in 38/357 Mag. I like it and my whole family loves to shoot it. Some earlier models have had problems with 38 Spl but the one I have has been flawless. The one I own is an older model (6 Ys old) and does not have the newer side gate loading feature. They Ain't Cheap, but lots of fun.1 point

I live in the sticks. Any unrest will not likely affect me unless I choose to drive to it and participate. Since I am often wrong, we are well armed and reside on a property that geography makes fairly easy to defend.1 point
