Starting in the upper right and going counter wise we start with some nice steaks from the top sirloin, a small sirloin roast, some thin steaks from the bottom sirloin (will be pounded out and made into chicken fried steak), shank, fajita strips from the bottom sirloin, two large roasts and the eye of round.

  4. To put a legal business out of business. If you can't get what you want legally, use what you got. A raid doesn't have to produce evidence of crime, It only has to intimidate and scare potential customers off. ATF headache solved.

  8. So your point is that one person should not be able to purchase any amount he or she can legally buy? If the statement is correct, this person is a "shooter" and saw that his needs and supplies might be cut off; so he prepared himself for that event. This is wrong? Do you have any "extra" ammo above and beyond your "reasonable shooting needs" stored away? And who decides what "reasonable needs are? No, I have to disagree with you on this. You probably, at least you should be, keeping a bit of extra foods and other supplies in your home. Who decides what amount of that is reasonable? YOU. So while I might envy a person's preparedness, I will not besmirch him for it.

I don't want unknown people particularly close me, healthy or otherwise. Social distancing should make it a little more obvious if a BG is trying to close distance.

  13. In case no one has told you yet.... It ain't about your health. The inconsistency you are observing is real, and belies the truth. We are each able to choose whether we accept what we are told, or what we observe. That ringing in your ears when you try, is called cognitive dissonance. Your brain already knows the truth, your consciousness is trying to decide if its better to just stick your head in the sand. The consequences of accepting the alternative _is_ a wee bit uncomfortable for some.

  15. And that's a good thing, a consequence of nominating and confirming conservative justices. One of the hallmarks of conservatism in jurisprudence is a reluctance to intervene in states' internal matters, as well as a strict interpretation of constitutional law. The SCOTUS upheld these ideals in rejecting the Texas case and their refusal to allow one state to dictate to others how to run their elections. The Trump administration (well, along with Mitch McConnell who has probably been more instrumental in shaping the federal judiciary to be honest) has put an indelible conservative stamp on both the SCOTUS and the remainder of the Federal court system, actions which will do more to benefit the country than any of Trump's other endeavors. However one of the consequences of seating more conservative judges is to lessen the influence that politics and politicians have on the judiciary. This is a good thing, even if it causes Trump to have a hissy fit over this one case rejection ...

  17. Lord I've kicked the hornet's nest (appreciate the mostly civil reactions) Alright keeping this simple: I personally believe in background checks for all firearms at point of sale (not private person to person) I'm not a fan of Polymer 80's build and bang kit because I do believe its just a simple perversion of the law. (much like those "fuel filter" suppressor kits on facebook marketplace) I do wish some of this passion was shown by the older folks here when Reagan was banning no new machine guns for civilians....still can't believe you all and the NRA rolled over for that one. I wish some more passion was shown when Trump used executive order to ban bumpstocks after one mass shooting. At the end of the day I guess firearms to felons doesn't really matter at all when we are experiencing a 9/11 every day in this country due to silly politics and anti-science beliefs. When the USA is losing 3,000 per day (which we all acutely felt recently with the passing of our good friend Mikey) who cares about some gun violence that doesn't even move the needle.

  18. Bradbury covered the technique beautifully in Fahrenheit 451. Are we at War with EastAsia? Who cares, time for the 2 minutes hate everyone! What scares me (not to segue), but if your eyes are open and you were exposed to this literature in HS, it is literally happening before your eyes. We were warned. Exactly as laid out in Huxleys works, too.

  19. Here's more happy news for you all: BATFE is now visiting consumers who purchased the Polymer 80 "Buy, Build, Shoot" kits and demanding forfeiture and threatening that they will return with a warrant and raid the consumer's home. https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2020/12/11/polymer80-kits/ This #### is 100% unacceptable. BATFE is clearly getting ballsy now that they think a new captain will be at the wheel of the ship in a few weeks. Buckle up, folks. It's going to be ugly if Harris and her rickety old Trojan Horse get into office.

  20. I'll apologize to all, for what I said. Im an A$$hole and I know it and its not fair to sling anything at anyone and its not right. Ill also say this, when someone claims your peaceful activity should be illegal you should be offended. They're saying although you harm no one you should be forced into a cage for what you enjoy doing. Don't call yourself a libertarian if thats the way you think. You're not a libertarian. Many a right has gone down the drain because Republicans will actively support "common sense" restrictions and that leads to openings for further legislation to chip away at your rights. Also, i don't beleive you should have to compromise in a situation where your actions and or the ownership of property is peaceful and does not directly result in harm to others. Murder is illegal, assualt is illegal. Do we need to go further? Do we need to ban hammers and ice picks? Where is the line? Further why is it at that exact spot? Why stop at hommade firearms?

  24. I agreed with you up until the last statement, As a pro car nut, not supporting some emission standards would be calling for the end of the automobile. Restrictions on firearms are unconstitutional. I could write a book on this but I will be brief. The bump stock ban should never have been allowed. To me they are worthless, but, shall not be means shall not be. I am reminded of the prose from the Hitler era. "when they came for me there was no one left to stand"

  29. My dad was a fan as well. Being the time frame it was, and in an area that still had a few less "woke" people, Dad did have some colorful ways of expressing how he liked Charlie. lol Did you guys know that Steelharp (RIP Buddy) worked with Charlie several times. Played harmonica and steel guitar on several tracks. I apologize for not remembering which ones Michael told me once. I remember Dad having an 8 track of Charlie that he had in his old truck. Played it quite a bit. Back in those days I wasn't much of a country fan, but I did listen and sort of liked it. lol Well...age has given me a different outlook. lol Before Dad passed on, I became quite a country fan. Well, Charlie, May you Rest In Peace. And join in with Michael in the Heavenly Band.

  31. I can concur. Born and raised Buffalo NY native (you wanna talk about a hard to love team with me?) The football fans up there are absolutely rabid for their home team. Bare chested in the upper deck in an 80k seat outdoor stadium in the dead of January is my definition of a rabid fan. Ain't seen THAT down here just yet, but gotta give it to the Vols fans, they do love their team. It was something I noticed very early when I moved here, made me feel right at home, actually. I've since adopted Smokey and his boys (wasn't any good college ball up that way anyhow). That sense of hometown pride over anything I think is important. You notice it more when its lacking than when its there? I think big(ger) metropolitan areas like Nashvegas get too many transplants, it dilutes that hometown pride thing. Half the residents prolly think of Vandy as that school downtown with no parking.

  34. I met Charley Pride once as a kid in a Golden Corral in Anniston, Alabama. I was over there with my grandfather, and he was there having lunch. No one seemed to bother him - and truthfully I don’t know that anyone noticed him. But on my way out we passed his table and I said, “hello, Mr. Pride.” He smiled and proceeded to have a lengthy conversation with a kid who probably wasn’t more than 10 or 11. He wasn’t too far from the height of his fame, but he wasn’t too big or important to take the time to talk to a kid. He’s had a fan in me ever since.

But the risk is too high. I’m not going anywhere, but my wife is still working, and they are testing positive at her workplace a lot. So it’s just a matter of time. Time is not on my side.

  39. I wasn't even aware of the "buy build shoot" kits until I read this thread. I was aware of the 80% lower kits and even did a little research on their legality. Everything I read said that it's totally legal to buy one of those 80% lowers, which the BATF did not classify as a firearm, and complete it oneself. And no serial number is required, even if it's sold later. (Though it would have to be serialized if sold through a dealer in order to complete the paperwork.) Having looked now at the BBS kits, and trying to be objective about it, I can understand Magiccarpet's position that those shouldn't be available. I don't agree with that position, though. If it's perfectly legal for me to machine my own handgun from a chunk of billet aluminum, why shouldn't it be just as legal for me to do a little finish machining on an item that's mostly complete? In other words, why should it be that only a skilled machinist should be able to take advantage of being able to build a firearm at home? There's nothing that makes a skilled machinist any more trustworthy than a guy like me, who has minimal machining skills. So as I see it, it either should be legal to build your own firearm or not. And even though I understand Magiccarpet's position, the problem with agreeing to "sensible" restrictions on guns is that as soon as that new restriction is in place it becomes the new standard. And the anti-gun folks begin working on the next "sensible" restriction. The anti-gunners will NEVER be satisfied so long as Americans are free to own anything beyond a basic bolt-action hunting rifle or a pump shotgun. And perhaps not then. So any concession on the part of gun-owners is only advancing the anti-gunner position. A right once lost is very difficult to regain.

  40. I really don't see how they could accomplish this feat. The cops can barely keep peace in the streets as it is and I feel very sure that keeping the peace is going to get worse really quick with all this corruption in our election. These are perilous times we are living in folks. Be safe out there!! And have a Merry Christmas. God is still in control, regardless who may or may not be in control in Washington, D.C. !!!

  41. Well I may or may not have two and I'm far from a felon or gangbanger. I like them because it's a Glock that you can fix all the things you don't like about Glock "perfection" while retaining the best parts. I'd be concerned that the BATF would use Polymer80's records to find "illegal" weapons owners and cause legitimate owners legal jearpordy. All because they can. To me this is far more a concern and reality than keeping true criminals from using a Polymer80 product. I too am surprised by magic's position but also know he's far from an unreasonable man. I assume there's context missing. Either way, I'd probably sell him a "ghost" gun. If I had one!

  45. If you think 0.6% is a pretty small number, would you agree that 0.087% is also pretty small? That’s the percentage of COVID deaths within the US population based on a US population of 331 million and current US COVID deaths estimated at 290k. If you factor in only about 6% of the 250k deaths (15,000) dying from COVID alone, that brings the COVID alone death rate to 0.000045%. Pretty hard to justify what’s been done to our country over numbers like that.

  46. I've invested heavily in AR specific tools over the past year or so and increased my knowledge a good bit. I'm planning some armorer's classes in the future to take my understanding of the systems even further. I guess a lot of my friends know that so they've been asking me for help in assembling kits or replacing parts or diagnosing issues. Something that I've come across a lot of recently are headspace issues and receiver extension issues. I had to send a bolt back that wouldn't close on a 5.56 go gauge in any barrel that I had. The company was great about it and they replaced it without issue. I also had a friend bring a rifle by that had the same problem. It was a home built setup that he bought second hand from a shop. Luckily the shop owner knew who made the bolt and took care of it. Another rifle was a complete upper from a reputable company. The rifle headspaced fine but using one of my tools, I noticed that something was off between the receiver and the barrel extension. Or so I thought. I thought maybe the extension was clocked wrong inside the receiver. Even though it functioned fine, you could see wear on the lugs of the bolt where they were having to push past a bind to lock into place correctly. On further inspection, it appeared that the barrel extension lugs were machined poorly and had little tabs that were causing the binding. The company asked for pictures and then asked for it back. They replaced the barrel and sent everything back quickly and it was fantastic. I ran it through an inspection and everything checked out great. Most of these were pre-panic rifles and each one had some small issue. With the current state of things, check your parts before you get out and run your rifles. I'm worried about QC dropping even with the best names out there. And if you are in the Memphis area and want or need anything checked out, I'm happy to help. I'm not a gunsmith and I will happily admit that I don't know everything but I know a good bit and I enjoy doing this stuff. (Also, since I'm not a gunsmith, I don't charge anything. It's purely a hobby for me at this point.)

  47. Reefermac came up with the word I've been looking for for years. I put some tunes on in the workshop area, clear the clutter from my reloading bench, and start sizing brass... its therapeutic like any mindless repetitive task. After a bad day at work, and after the three S's, I head for the loading room and pound out a few hundred rounds, Works great both for my nerves and for the ammo cabinet.
