  1. Again thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. I went into surgery at 10am and was home by 6pm. My after surgery PT went really smooth and after the gourmet hospital lunch and PT session I was processed and out of there. I know the nerve block is doing it’s job well and I keep waiting on the pain to kick in, but so far not much at all. I can flex my knee back to about 70 degrees and straighten it back out and I’m walking around the house every 2 hours and doing the sliding exercises as prescribed. I’m sliding the walker around, but I’m able to walk fairly normal and place all of my 265 lbs on it with no trouble. Of course I may be in the fetal position crying profusely (haha) when the nerve block ends in 24 to 48 hours they say. As of now the only thing I feel is a kind of soreness like the day after a good workout in the gym. I’m also keeping ice on the bottom and top while sitting down. Thanks for all the encouragement and PT advice!! Randall53

  2. Seems to me that felons and gangbangers have never had a real problem getting guns from other sources...

  3. How long is this mask debate going to go on? Really, it’s beyond ridiculous. All of a sudden everyone is an Internet epidemiologist who never really cared about their fellow humans to begin with, much less understand basic, common sense, grade school science. The confirmation bias of hearsay just continues to spread the virus. I hate this situation with a passion, but I’m not going to let personal arrogance get in the way of doing the right thing...and I am extremely independent and arrogant in many ways.

  4. I wish you guys would stop this. Saying one thing doesn't make someone anti-gun. If it did, then all you Trump supporters that rolled over and took his bump stock ban up the stink-star are anti-gun. "Take the guns first, due process later". We had folks trying to spin those words too.

  5. So now that the TBI/TICS denial was overturned (jeeeeze) this is what I was waiting on. I picked up this nearly flawless Colt Commander from 1970 according to the Colt website. Very little evidence of it being fired outside of the factory. A little wear on the trigger, but not much else... Any apparent flaws in the pic are glare or dust, no wear on the slide or frame at all. Blueing typical of Colts I have seen from this era has become slightly plum colored on the slide. Factory box shows an original; price of $125 marked down to $104. The box shows it's age, but the cosmo paper and the original instructions are there. Question for you Colt guys, is it taboo to repair the box a bit? I mean obviously anything done to the gun is off limits to purists, but what about box repairs?

  9. Do not repair the box unless it is just falling apart. If the gun is as flawless as you say then keep the box the way it is. It will matter to a Colt collector. They would much rather have an unmolested torn box than a taped up one. Nice commander!

  10. You can say what you want. Beat your chest till your black and blue for “freedom”. But it all comes down to personal responsibility and integrity. I have no intention of causing another individual to become ill or even die, because I don’t want to wear a mask or take a vaccine. But you go ahead and do you. I’ll do me.

  12. I really don't see how they could accomplish this feat. The cops can barely keep peace in the streets as it is and I feel very sure that keeping the peace is going to get worse really quick with all this corruption in our election. These are perilous times we are living in folks. Be safe out there!! And have a Merry Christmas. God is still in control, regardless who may or may not be in control in Washington, D.C. !!!

  13. Here's more happy news for you all: BATFE is now visiting consumers who purchased the Polymer 80 "Buy, Build, Shoot" kits and demanding forfeiture and threatening that they will return with a warrant and raid the consumer's home. https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2020/12/11/polymer80-kits/ This #### is 100% unacceptable. BATFE is clearly getting ballsy now that they think a new captain will be at the wheel of the ship in a few weeks. Buckle up, folks. It's going to be ugly if Harris and her rickety old Trojan Horse get into office.

  15. This sort of thinking reminds me of my experience in public school: 1 student couldn't get their act together so the teacher forced her 20+ students to write an essay as punishment. We hadn't done anything wrong but we were punished just the same.

  16. A boxer dog named Dexter is going viral for leading his blind canine companion, Ginger, safely down a flight of stairs, according to a video. The video showed Dexter using his body and the wall to safely guide Ginger down the stairs without falling. He patiently stopped on each step, waiting for Ginger to catch up before moving on to the next step. The kind dog looked back repeatedly to reassure his companion, and both dogs began to wag their tails once they reached the bottom of the stairwell.

  17. Just so you have a north star for what I am about to say, if you take the Constitution and Bill of Rights at face value, all gun laws are infringements upon your rights. So let's build from there. It is 100% legal to build a firearm from either scratch or from an 80% complete component which would otherwise be serialized for your own use, not for resale, and not serialize it. What bootlicking logic are you abiding by that would cause you to serialize a thing that you legally built for yourself when serializing it isn't required? There are many other firearms that you can build from an 80% kit. Muskets, cap and ball pistols, AR pattern rifles, and a multitude of modern striker fired 80% polymer pistols based upon the Glock Gen 3 design. Polymer 80 was the first to bring the latter to market and it has inspired a cottage industry. Further, the BATFE currently - apparently - doesn't even have a problem with that, per se, since their grievance with P80 seems to be with a particular package and not with the 80% receiver itself. Beyond that, anyone with basic tools can build a gun. It may not be sexy and may not be polymer, but it's easily done and probably far more often than you or I will ever have any way to ascertain the frequency of. Because it's legal and private and legal to be private and no one has to tell a soul about it, account for it, serialize it, register it, or report it. Those are the true "ghost guns" because there is no paper trail. There are no invoices, no shipping receipts, no bills of lading. They. Don't. Exist. And that is ####ing awesome. I really wonder about people like you who seem to have a problem with firearms ownership if it's not tracked or restricted. Do you have similar complaints about home-brewing of beer? It feels like fair-weather support of the Second Amendment to me, but I guess maybe I am just more tired of infringement than you are. Since you are this opposed to 80% firearms, I presume we won't see any for sale at premium prices a few weeks from now when supply is short and demand is high.

  18. Well I may or may not have two and I'm far from a felon or gangbanger. I like them because it's a Glock that you can fix all the things you don't like about Glock "perfection" while retaining the best parts. I'd be concerned that the BATF would use Polymer80's records to find "illegal" weapons owners and cause legitimate owners legal jearpordy. All because they can. To me this is far more a concern and reality than keeping true criminals from using a Polymer80 product. I too am surprised by magic's position but also know he's far from an unreasonable man. I assume there's context missing. Either way, I'd probably sell him a "ghost" gun. If I had one!

  22. The current backlog of orders will take months, maybe as much as a year to catch up. A lot of it depends on how fast the former Remington ammo plants take to get back to running full production, many have been shuttered or running at lower capacity due to the bankruptcy proceedings. Now that the election is over, once Congress has a chance to meet and any bills are introduced and die their normal slow death, at least some of the panic buying will taper off. We won't see early 2020 prices for a year or more, as current orders will take a while to fill and local shortages will continue. Also, remember that the glut of ammo, guns and parts caused prices to fall artificially low during the last 2 or 3 years, that won't happen in 2021. As for the guy with a million primers, that sounds more like good preparation and planning than hoarding ...

  23. 1st off, @Magiccarpetridesis correct. Keep it civil. Some snark is one thing, outright name calling is another. If you find you can’t resist, shut up and go elsewhere. Now, back to the meat of the discussion. @Magiccarpetrides: your comments here cause me some questions, so I’m going to ask them to you directly to ensure I am not mistaking your position. Americans have always been able to legally produce their own firearms, these kits do facilitate that process, but they don’t contain what is legally the firearm by law. I do have to point out though that 80% lowers were definitely a thing before Polymer 80 came along. We have threads here on milling aluminum 80% lowers going back many years. Your problems with Polymer 80 and others doing the same sort of business appears to be the lack of background checks and serial numbers. Do you support the outlawing of private manufacture of firearms? Do you support the outlawing of private party sales? Do you support universal background checks? Do you support universal firearms registration? If you do support any of these positions, then I would understand the objections you have raised, though my disagreement would be the same. If you don’t support these positions, then what exactly is the objection to folks buying the materials to build their own firearms?

  24. Why, lately, are there anti-gun people on a progun form arguing against gun rights? Did the short buss have a wreck up the street?

  25. If they would just do away with the Second Amendment entirely and force us all to hand in our guns, I am sure it would correct the problem represented by these criminals with their Polymer 80s out raising hell and terrorizing the decent folks. Then maybe Magiccarpetrides could rest easier.

  28. Here’s something else I’ve wanted to try but haven’t yet. I have an Excalibur crossbow with a pretty nice scope on it that is amazingly accurate out to 35 or maybe even 40 yards or so on a calm day. I’ve wanted to try it on yotes from these comfy lease stands. This bow will put arrows in a 1” circle shooting from a rigid rest. I’ve watched some YouTube video’s of guys shooting yotes from their deer stands with bolts and they are effective for sure. The strange thing is, sometimes when multiple yotes come to the call, they won’t run off since there’s no gunshot and will actually almost attack the wounded yote until it dies giving you multiple chances to shoot the others.

  29. First, thanks to AuEagle for posting on Ivermectin. I wonder why it hasn't gotten more publicity. I'm usually on top of all COVID 19 treatments and I had never heard of it. I'm not taking a position on the freedom vs masks debate. I'm just posting this to say masking works. The CDC puts out a weekly influenza surveillance report. Comparing this year's flu cases to last year's is eye-popping. Last year through week 48 (Nov30), 227,629 flu tests were done with 10,326 positives. This year through week 48, 140,863 influenza tests were done with 84 positives. That's a 99.2% decrease based on positive cases. It's equally obvious that masking isn't stopping the spread of this disease. We need to be doing more... hence, vaccines, but they are also problematic, in my opinion. Both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines use the mRNA approach, which shows promise, but has never been used for a vaccine. That's also scary. What are the long term effects a year or two down the road? More immediately, how will it interact with the flu vaccine? Most people get their flu shots in Oct-Dec, but the vaccine tests were done in the summer long after those volunteers took their flu vaccines. If I could stockpile human grade Ivermectin for my family, I would do so. Same with hydroxychloroquine. But I can take vitamin D3... 63 FDA-approved clinical trials on vitamin D are underway, which is impressive considering that it's natural and can't be sold for outrageous profits by Big Pharma. Specifically, I take 5,000 IU of vitamin D3, plus C, B12, K2, a multivitamin, zinc, magnesium, and melatonin every day. I also take another dozen or so supplements. As we age, our cells lose the ability to work efficiently. Supplements improve cellular efficiency, but equally important, they insure that the cells have an abundance of raw materials to work with. My sister and her husband are in several high risk categories... over 70, overweight, multiple pre-existing medical conditions. When she got COVID about three weeks ago, I next day shipped vitamin D3+K2 and zinc to her. She's recovering. Did those supplements make a difference? I guess we will never know. I think i had COVIDS back in June. I had several symptoms but they lasted only a few hours. The severe shortness of breath lasted for 4 months! Did supplements help me? I think so.

  33. I don’t own any 80% stuff and have no plans to, but to mem the attraction is having unregistered guns in case guns are ever confiscated by the Gov’t in some ban situation. I know, I know, not likely, which is one reason I don’t have one, couple with the fact I’d probably screw up the completion, lol.

  39. Good to hear. After my surgery, I too was able to bend more than I thought I would be able to, however my trouble was the knee resisted straightening. I sat too much in the first few weeks after the surgery, with my knee slightly bent and that' didn't help the problem. I should have spent more time with the knee straight out, unbent, either when sitting or lying down. As a result, my PT was more difficult, as it took a while to get it to straighten out, there's still s slight difference 2 years later. Good luck ...
