I save the gambling for sports games as a form of entertainment. When investing for my intermediate future and retirement, I use index funds. Trying to pick stocks is too much of a guess and time consumer when it's not your full-time job...and even then it's not an easy thing. I would seriously advise anyone looking to pick stocks to do it with disposable income, and leave the retirement planing to an index or target date fund.4 points

No, it has not. It may look that way but it is not. The Electoral College hasn't even convened yet.2 points

So I needed some gas rings for my AR. I tried Palmetto state Armory but no luck. I ended up at MidwayUSA. It has been a long time since I browsed that place. So, 190$ later I have all kinds of doodads coming my way for my rifles. I got a couple of spring/pin kits for repair but some tacticool stuff like some miculekesque compensators and a couple of charging handles. They have some uppers in stock that seem priced reasonable. They may get some more of my money later this week.1 point

I saw this on a local news site this morning: Recall Notice from Smith & Wesson https://www.mpshieldezrecall.com/ M&P SHIELD® EZ® PISTOL IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FOR PISTOLS MANUFACTURED BETWEEN MARCH 1ST, 2020 AND OCTOBER 31ST, 2020 Smith & Wesson has identified two M&P Shield EZ Pistols on which the hammers manufactured by our supplier were cracked. In those firearms, the hammer failed to fully engage the sear, causing the round to fire, cycling the slide, and potentially resulting in multiple discharges without depressing the trigger. This issue can occur in the following two scenarios: With a loaded magazine in the firearm and the grip safety depressed, releasing the slide (by pulling it back, or releasing the slide stop), may ignite the round as the slide closes, without engaging the trigger. The condition may occur, regardless of the manual thumb safety position if equipped. This may also result in multiple discharges. With a loaded magazine in the firearm, the grip safety depressed, manual safety in the fire position, slide closed, and a round in the chamber, pulling the trigger will cause the round to fire normally, however as the slide cycles, the next round may be ignited as it is chambered by the hammer failing to fully engage the sear, causing multiple discharges. In all cases, the firearm will NOT fire unless the grip safety is depressed. While this condition has been found only in two hammers, and our investigation suggests that these two incidents are very isolated, any unintended discharge of a firearm has the potential to cause injury. Therefore, we have established this Safety Recall as a precautionary measure to ensure that all M&P Shield EZ Pistols in service meet our design specifications. Stop using your M&P® Shield™ EZ pistol until you determine whether it is included in this safety recall, and if so, until it has been inspected and repaired by Smith & Wesson, if necessary. PRODUCT AFFECTED: This notice applies ONLY to M&P® Shield™ EZ pistols (including Performance Center® models) manufactured between March 1, 2020 and October 31, 2020, and only to a small percentage of that population. It does NOT apply to all SHIELD™ pistols. To determine whether your M&P Shield EZ Pistol is affected, check the label on the box to determine date of manufacture (see image below), and if manufacture date is between March 1, 2020 and October 31, 2020 – your pistol may be affected. In this case (or if you are unsure of your date of manufacture), simply go to MPShieldEZrecall.com and input your serial number, or call 888-871-7114 .1 point

Personally, I love trout fishing. I’m not a fly fisherman, just a good ‘ol open faced spinner and chest waders. The TWRA has a great website with everything you need to know to catch trout. They are delicious grilled with the skin on and some lemon pepper. So easy to clean and eat and really fun to catch. Here’s the info: https://www.tn.gov/content/dam/tn/twra/documents/fishing/trout/winter-trout-schedule.pdf?utm_campaign=TroutStockingDecember2020&utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery1 point

Hey Folks! Just moved from LA to Nashville. I've been out of the gun game for a few years now, but since i'm in a free state, just applied for my conceal and looking to acquire some handguns. Last time I followed the gun scene, the glock 42 just came out. Now I see there's a whole bunch of new models out. Hoping to learn about all the new stuff and add to my current collection.1 point

The demand for gasoline is not high right now. Ammo demand is. Also, ammo is not subject to the artificial taxes that oil is and we are also not quite as subject to Middle East volatility as we were a few years ago.1 point

Wow this is a conservative group. I was a stockbroker for 40 years. Yes, for the average investor, index funds area absolutely the way to go. For those with more knowledge, talent, resources, and risk tolerance, there can be magnificent opportunities. (And neither way has any guarantees.) But the notion that "no one can beat the market" is just not rational. It's a bell shaped curve. And I have seen, and helped, some investors to achieve great success, usually through low diversification and holding a few great stocks very long term. And I will freely admit that the best ideas were usually theirs!1 point

In any event prices im sure will inevitably be higher. I dont know by how much. I hope that there is enough competition and surplus to bring prices to what they were at some point but that may never happen. I forsee more people reloading. There is an unfortunate cycle with the gun community and the manufacturers where there is panic buying and hording, then shortage, then normalization then repeat. If gun legislation gets passed then it may get even worse. Thats the other problem.... the gun/ammunition industry is one of the most heavily regulated and under political attack.1 point

I'm boring. I buy and hold index funds. Not exciting, but this strategy has been very good to me. I have a kid who recently started buying single stocks. He thinks it's awesome. Fortunately, his funds are limited, so the lesson he'll learn shortly won't be too costly.1 point

While I've never personally visited this store, or fished for Trout, I love following these guys on social media. Tellico Plains is a great area for Trout fishing for anyone interested. https://www.tellicooutfitters.com/1 point

Thanks for attaching this - might plan some winter fishing. TWRA has really hit it out of the park with stocking and managing some world class trout streams these last several years. I'm happy to see my license fees support that.1 point

I do understand. That is true. fishing license, trout stamp, special permit for tellico plains and Smokey mountains for example. But then so is big game hunting, wildlife management areas, quota hunts which also require additional stamps added to a hunting license. When I turned 65 I bought the lifetime sportsman license so I wouldn’t have to worry about any of it. That wasn’t cheap either. I’m not sure, but I’ve heard Georgia don’t hit sportsman so hard, but Tennessee sure has some nice fishing opportunities.1 point

Be thankful we live in a free state: (At least for now) Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti on Wednesday issued new coronavirus lockdown restrictions as cases in the city continue to reach record highs. The order, effective immediately, requires all city residents to stay home, unless engaging in a list of essential activities, and all businesses to cease operations. Public transportation and gatherings are prohibited with the exception of gatherings for outdoor religious services and outdoor protests with social distancing and face masks. https://www.foxnews.com/us/la-mayor-coronavirus-lockdowns-before-christmas1 point

You can get an attorney. But you can also buy a FBI background check and you would see what they are seeing from the feds. If the information is coming from a state, you may have to contact them. It’s really not hard, if you get to talk to people that want to do their job. My wild azz guess is that the person that did your last check is seeing that DV, and either there is no disposition or there’s something they are latching onto that the others didn’t. Because even if that’s a misdemeanor; that’s a disqualifier Don’t beat yourself up, if you don’t have a disqualifier; its not on you. But I understand how you feel. My FFL said he’s had many people that have never even been arrested turned down. It appears (from what we see here and other forums) the TBI does it more than most states. I don’t know how Covid is affecting them, but your appeal should have been done by now. Mine was done right then by my FFL on a Thursday or Friday and it cleared on Monday. But that’s been a few years ago. Did you include a copy of your HCP when you faxed your appeal?1 point

We had a great time. All our daughters and families were here for a week. We did lots of outdoor activities. Our first born has a horse farm with 2 4 wheelers and our grandkids rode them big time. Took family pictures on horses and in the woods on her farm. Went on trail rides, and hikes all over her 90 acre farm. We eat like kings, big turkey and ham thanksgiving day feast with all the trimmings. Had country ham, biscuit, bacon, sausage, and egg breakfast every morning. The girls got in Black Friday shopping and we generally had a wonderful week. Had not seen two of our daughters and families for over a year. It was time for us. "Reed Manor" was full once again. Hope we don't get sick??? Hope you guys had a good Thanksgiving holiday yourselves. May go to Charleston S C for Christmas. Will see how coved goes.1 point

By popular demand, I am happy to unveil to you all a DARK visual theme for TGO. You can select it by scrolling to the bottom of the page, finding the link for "THEMES" and selecting TGO Dark Earth from the list as shown in the screenshot below. The Benefactor members have been helping me test the new design for the past 24 hours or so and I've used their feedback to refine it into something that I think is reasonably ready for prime time use. With that being said, this is still very much a first public release. It's a one-dot-zero (1.0) in tech terms. This means that you and I are probably going to discover things together that I need to fix or modify. When that happens, please use the Feedback and Support forum to report whatever issue you have found. I can tell you now that you will find that other members have chosen to use colors in their posts that simply do not look good on a dark background. It will also become very obvious when you see that someone has copied text from another website and pasted it into the editor here when making a new post. Often that brings over a background color for whatever they are pasting, and it looks like . When you discover that, bear in mind that there isn't much I can do about it. Just reply and tell your friends to cut it out. Alright... no more jibber jabber from me. Get on with it. Bring on the darness!1 point

Just about everything comes with a risk. Not taking a vaccine has a risk, just like taking the vaccine has a risk, as we will see once it becomes widely available. As we have seen with the virus to this point, unless you are in a high risk demographic group, your chance of being very ill or dying is extremely low. In that case, most likely feel there is less risk in not taking the shot until more is known. I know I have an aversion to being a guinea pig.1 point

dawgdoc is referring to the Moderna vaccine that is unique in using the Virus's protein precursor as instead of what normal vaccines would use a fabricated incredibly toxic Aluminum adjuvant to "wake up" the immune system to produce anti bodies. At least thats how I understand it. Moderna is revolutionary in using this method on humans. I'm a big Antivaxer since my son was damaged by a DTaP vaccine back in 2000 when he was 6. The small a stands for acellular in the abreviation. What that means is the retards that figured out how to minimize reactions from the large virus particles in the vaccine would pulverise the virus particles into sub particles that blow threw the blood brain barrier like it wasnt even there. This creates a 60 percent higher risk of neurological damage according to a recent study by Harvard research. Prior to this Harvard study the companies lied for decades telling people that those type of particles along with aluminum adjuvants do not become lodged within brain cells. Easy to lie when there is huge monies at stake. Anything constructed under the title of Vaccine is totally immune from civil suit for causing physical damage. Thats one huge reason why these companies can race threw the process. Prior to that Federal authorization, the vaccine companies were slated to give up hundreds of millions in awards to damaged children. So they bought civil suit immunity legislation from politicians. It was one hell of a bargan for them to pay into PAC's for this sweet hart deal one time and be done with it. That all said, if the Moderna Science on this new method of vaccinating is in fact what they advertise it as. I'm all for it. Introducing an Aluminum adjuvant into brain cells is IMO the major cause of children with undetected compromised immune systems to develop a range of neurological disorders including Autism from these vaccine toxins. These toxins would never ever be approved by the FDA via intravenous injection under any circumstances but since its under the protected Vaccine umbrella, the FDA is not required to issue a safety approval.1 point

I waited about 7 months in NY. Got my TN 5 years ago in 10 days. Process in TN was much more complete in making sure I at least knew how to handle a handgun and shoot it, not that it was that great, but NY had none, just bureaucracy and stalling, not even basic laws of the state. I would highly recommend getting further handgun training if you're new to shooting. I took two NRA handgun courses, basic handgun and a self defence course and the were excellent starting points.1 point

Not even in your wildest dreams. First we have to settle this issue of President, then we can make predictions. If President Trump is re-elected give it 6-9 months to start seeing some ammo and components and 1-1.5 years before prices start to drop. But if the ammo company presidents are watching all this craziness they will just make the current prices the prices until the next price hike. They sort of have us over a barrel, kind of like gas prices, you can pay $4 per gallon and drive your car that you may be making payments on or you can not buy it and walk. Your choice.0 points
