  1. Doc just left. He says I'm doing better, I've managed to stay away from needing a ventilator. But, I have to spread the damage I do have in my lungs from just the back. I have to lay on my belly and my sides to move things around. I'm not out of the woods by any means, but it could be worse.

  2. Got blessed with one of the biggest deer I've ever killed this morning on public land in Scott County. Even got to break the Remington 450 Bushmaster in. Tagged out on bucks for this season, its been a great season on public land. And the freezer is full of meat.

  3. Stacking it deep while it’s cheap is the name of the game. Amazes me how many Gun owners don’t get that concept still.

  6. I have not been here in a while but maybe we have it fixed now so I can be here more often again. We have a Fiber Optics WiFi provider and the company has been having issues with their equipment and their problems became our problems also. They came out yesterday and spent an entire day reinstalling all new equipment in our houses and so far it appears they fixed the problems. I hope to be here more often now. Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving if that is possible with this pandemic.

  10. Ok, I can weigh in on this a bit. I shot one of our old outdated soft body armor panels, Level IIIA, which had already been tested years ago, it still did very well. These are green tips, captured in the panel. I also sent some .40 at it, just for S&G. I could only find one that went through, a 5.56. To be fair, the panel was draped loosely, if it had been solid behind it, it may have been a different story. Fun fact, sometimes you don't feel the hit, until much later when the adrenaline has worn off and the bruising begins.

  11. Somewhere along the line, docs got smart and realized that moving quickly to PT after joint replacement was the key to a faster recovery. I bet the first patient they sold that bill of goods to wanted to punch them square in the nose, but it's got a good proven track record now as I am sure you know. Hoping for a quick recovery for her!

  12. Personally, I feel that the choice to end your life cannot be more personal, and it's nobody's damned business if you make the choice to do so - particularly the government's. Some will say it's the family's business, but if you're selfish enough not to consider them then their opinion doesn't matter to you anyway.

  17. Everything you said about nursing homes is 100% correct. They are horrible places run by run by people I question how they made it through grade school. Euthanasia is an entirely different matter. It is practiced daily by the “medical profession” whether people want to believe it or not. In a way that is a good and necessary thing. They are NOT going to spend too much time on someone that does not have excellent insurance and personal resources to keep them alive. It’s a sad reality that many can’t accept but I have seen it first hand.

  21. I think I understand that...maybe. But if that's the drill...do it! Will to do this is key. Never give up. You are a strong man. Don't forget that. You have to be strong for Lisa as well. Temporary disorientation. It has to be. We won't think it anything else. My poor sinner's prayers continue for you both.

  23. Phil Valentine doesn’t know jack about medicine but yes, vitamin D is a fairly well-known combatant against illness, especially during the winter months when our sunlight is decreased. @jgradyc has been telling y’all the whole time.

  30. I went with a set of steel plates from AR500.com a few years ago and have been happy with them. I bought a 3rd plate to test for myself and the only thing I had pass through it was some AP .308 and eventually some 5.56green tip after I hit the same spot about 15 times. There are pros and cons to any type of armor. The only real con, in my opinion, to the steel plates are the weight. Mine are 7lbs per plate for a large, and that of course varies by which size plate you use. If you go steel, spend the extra money on the spall mitigation. The biggest pro to the steel plates is durability, followed closely by price. I had great ceramic plates in the military (expensive) but managed to break three plates in 7 years, and thankfully never got shot. Now is a great time to buy as AR500. Com does a big Black Friday sale every year, usually 15-20% off. It will probably take several weeks to get them. I don’t carry my armor with me everywhere at this point. Hopefully won’t ever feel the need to. But if I do have to strap it on my mindset would probably be that I’m going to do whatever I can to buy my family time to get somewhere safe. In my limited experience seeing guys get hit in their plates they were almost always hit other places also, and needed prompt medical attention on a scale that I will not have in any home defense or loan wolf situation. I absolutely think it’s a necessary tool in the toolbox, but no matter how little or a lot you spend on them they will not make you invincible. It’s important going into any type of fight to mentally brace yourself that “this is really going to hurt” to lessen some of the surprise when it happens.

  32. I've read the Bible numerous times, and nowhere does it say that. Can't talk about Muslims, Mormons, etc. It does say that it is "appointed once unto man to die" so you can't die before your time, and no matter what, you can't surprise God.

  33. Well, not without asking, some may want them. Depending on what they look like, they can be used, once rinsed off, to create crappie habitats. I read where many folks do this, some even make artificial ones.

  35. Wel, if the Democrats win control of the country, that being the congress and senate and White House, (there’s a very strong possibility of this) you’ll have to beat them to death with a ball bat for this law to apply anyway.

  36. As Pres. Trump was not of the swamp, an outsider, the leftest tried to shut him down in fear of what he would do the their lives. Sad that the people our country still just does not get it, just how bad the .gov is. I do believe that if not for our firearms we would be something like russia lite.

  38. Does modern medicine help you live longer or die slower? I do not wish to become a burden on anyone, my biggest fear is my mind going before my body.

  39. They make some amazing hips these days. I sure wouldn’t wish it on anyone, but my prayers are that she’ll be better than new in no time. Jamie knows this - but do every bit of the PT. And keep it up from here on out.

  40. I have my grandfather’s 721 in 300H&H. Fantastic rifle and caliber! He killed many mule deer, elk and a multitude of whitetails with it. Ammo is expensive and hard to find. You’ll want to reload for it if you can. I did see several boxes of ammo on the shelf though at the Cabelas in akworth GA. Prices were $49 and $75 / box of 20. Not many people buying ammo for that caliber though, so that’s a plus. I’d get it for sure.

  43. Its been quite a while since I've done one. I can't swear I remember this exactly right, But as I recall, if the tenon hole is the same width as the front sight slot, its a wide tenon. If its slightly narrower than the slot its the older narrow tenon. I blew up the picture you posted and it does appear that your gun needs the wide tenon. Also bear in mind that the new sight must be the correct height as well. BTW: now would be an excellent time to consider changing both front and rear sights to a better, more visible set . Call Brownell's tech support line and I'm sure they will fix you up with whatever you need.

  44. Hey, even if the gospel is preached out of bad motives, it’s still being preached. So if it gets good folks to think, “hey, maybe I should get some of that too.” I’m about it. I’m a firm believer that not getting holes put in you is more important than putting holes in other people.
