Walmarts here went to abbreviated hours back then because of possible looting and rioting and none of it happened. The city was peaceful. That's not to say that we don't have our normal crime but there was no looting or anything out of the ordinary. Not a single store was hit or anything like that.5 points

I've always been a Winchester guy. They just have a better feel and balance to me. The Rossi is just a clone of the Winchester Model 92. I have one in .357 and love it. Buy that rifle!2 points

You oughta check your self before you go spewing off about Memphis being anarchy prone. Over the spring and summer Memphis was one of the most peaceful cities with active protests in the entire country.2 points

Thanks to @TGO David and his raving about red dot sights, a great deal on a RMR, and a good deal on a 4th gen Glock 19 MOS, I finally decided to try a RDS on a pistol for the first time in 20+ years. I can't wait to try this out and see how my crappy eyes work with the RMR. Astigmatism has its challenges. Yes, decent deals on pistols still exist. I picked up a new MOS for less than I've seen standard Glocks listed for here.1 point

Their assets were bought by JJE Capital Holdings in the Remington bankruptcy proceeding last month along with AAC, H&R, Parker and a couple of others. They're a private equity firm that has an ownership in Palmetto State Armory. For what it's worth - while AAC's basic site is functional - their online shop is now behind a misconfigured login page. Sounds like some bills aren't getting paid. https://huntsvillebusinessjournal.com/lead/2020/09/29/hearing-today-in-bankruptcy-court-on-remington-break-up-sale/1 point

Worse than that. Somehow I was a dumb-ass and turned it from a forum into a "Category". Changing it back to Forum thankfully fixed it.1 point

We ceded democracy to private political parties who utilize public infrastructure (primaries and general election) to conduct their internal business.1 point

I've stood at the gun counter and called Bentonville, Arkansas. That'll get them shaking a leg.1 point

I've heard ??..... that if you pick up the phone at the gun counter and have a manager paged to the area, the problem seems to go away for a while.1 point

Primaries don’t work like that. They’re a closed system, and held at the discretion of the party. The Libertarian Party doesn’t even hold primaries. Partly because the taxpayers fund the primaries for the two major parties, and only for the two major parties. I would actually love to see ranked choice voting enacted for all elections, but the duopoly will never allow that to happen because it will break their hold on power.1 point

He isn't too far off, Memphis is very crime infested on a day-to-day basis, so maybe it just wasn't noticed. https://www.areavibes.com/memphis-tn/crime/1 point

The fact that a vote for any party not an R or a D in the general election is a lost vote (actually goes against the side closer to your side of issues) fails to register on some folks. I would love to get some libertarian folks into office, but the best time to vote for them is in the primaries, once you get to the general election, they just bleed off votes from the Dem or Repub and may cause them to lose the election. I feel that is what happened when Perot ran, he caused the loss of Bush to Clinton.1 point

Jo really lost me along the way, but you are correct that both Republicans and Democrats have shafted us hard-core on gun rights.1 point

Take a fool’s advice. If you want one, get one.....or a few. The supply will dry up and prices will skyrocket. I’ve seen this story play out too many times. I’ve yet to see prices decrease on milsurp guns of any persuasion.1 point

The man was a legend, and there are a lot worse ways to go than peaceably in your sleep at the age of 90. We'll be enjoying the performances he gave us long after today. Thanks for all the gifts, Sir Sean.1 point

In the case of the M39's mentioned by the OP, as well as Classic's other page of M39's currently available, the answer is collectors. The $1200 rifles are Tikkas. These are the rarest of the M39's that (sometimes) come to market. From looking at the rifles listed in the ads, these are the later (1940's) Tikkas, had these been some of the even rarer 1920's dated Tikkas they would have sold quickly for this amount. The remainder of the M39's currently listed by Classic are SKY models, another relatively rare variant, as well as some of the harder to find dates of VKT's and Sako's. M39's got a lot more expensive a few years back when Classic bought the last of the Pat Burns hoard and did a marvelous job of marketing them, prices went up overnight by about 30-50% and have remained there since. Also, just as an FYI, there are far more expensive Finnish and Russian variants out there, I watched an M1907 carbine sell for $2800 on Gunbroker just last week - that's actually quite a bargain for one of those. Unfortunately all my "fun" money is going to another, more expensive hobby now ...1 point

My Father was a tech sergeant, was at a lot of the famous battles but a day or so later to setup infrastructure. He was an amature photogapher and took hundreds of photos but very few while in Europe, most were when he was in England or in boot camp before shipping over. Growing up and seeing some of these photos and seeing a miniature Minox camera he owned I was sure he must have been a spy in the war.1 point

Well it’s opening tomorrow morning y’all! I’m excited but have to work most of the day. After work I’m going to the taxidermist to pick up this buck in the picture. My buck from last year and personal biggest. I’m excited to climb a tree for sure and wanted to wish everyone luck! Be safe!!! I’ll post a picture of the mount when I get it.1 point
