I’d dang sure price a comparable new one after getting a good feel for the used market. You might be surprised in how little the price changes.4 points

My wife and I stopped by Sportsmans Warehouse in Southhaven, MS this morning and were able to pick up 2000 Small Pistol Primers. They are only giving out 1000 per customer. The total cost per 1000.00 was $25. 57. I was happy to get them and at a great price. Will stop by again in a few days.4 points

Graig Graziosi, the "reporter" who wrote that story is a lefty that would be better suited writing left wing propaganda. Just look up some of his other stories, just full of left leaning comments. Really, into a crowd? A simple look into the video shows Grosskreutz was all by himself, with the closest guy already mortally wounded a few feet away and another several feet away backing up. Anymore I have to research the source more than the story to figure out how much salt I have to take with the story. Still, IMO, even if it is him, and that is questionable, how does that change all the video evidence of the Kenosha incident, none, none whatsoever. It certainly doesn't mark him as a white supremist, as Biden and all the left, has alledged him to be.4 points

Approximately 7 weeks ago I sent the slide from my 4.25" duty-size M&P M2.0 9mm to Doug Presson at DP Custom Works to have their GAB 4.0 package and a fresh jet-black nitride finish applied to it. Today, it came back and I quickly reassembled it with a Trijicon RM07 red dot, 10-8 Performance sights (M&P front, Glock rear) and an Apex Tactical Specialties striker safety plunger. I am ambivalent about the Apex trigger on the M2.0 series so I have skipped that for now. They look good for social media but I built this to be a fighting gun. Some time ago I smoothed out the area beneath the trigger guard for my middle finger to stop giving myself callouses from how tightly I grip the gun, and I added some very simple, functional "indexing points" on for my support hand thumb. I wasn't trying to win any beauty pageants with that stuff, so if you think it looks like crap... good. I expect this cheap ole M&P to perform just as well as any of the guns that I have that were 3x as expensive as it. Talk about making a guy question his purchasing decisions.3 points

I’m sure I’ve said this before, but here it goes again. I do agree with you on this position 100%. The problem is that as long as the local and federal authorities are standing down, more and more average folks (usually dumb kids without much sense) will feel the call to stand in their stead. What happened was only the natural outcome of police inaction. Good folks will only take so much of having their towns and businesses destroyed before they start taking matters into their own hands. The problem is they don’t have all tools at their disposal as LE. That means they’re going to use the only hammer in their bag. That’s not good for anyone.3 points

That much towing on a daily basis, I’d be looking at a 3/4 ton diesel.3 points
-
I would go with a 3/4 ton since you tow over 3 tons basically every day. 3/4 ton will do the job w/o issue.3 points

I've owned a 4" blue Ruger Security Six for many years. Great gun! I've had a 2.75" model on my wish list for more years than I care to count. The darn things are hard to come by and often sell at ridiculous prices. About a week ago, one popped up on the local Armslist. I sent the guy an e-mail, but unfortunately had to leave for a doctor's appointment. By the time I got back, it was gone. Likewise, I found a nice blue one on GB just a few days ago. It ended up selling for way more than I was willing to give. But this morning I finally scored! Another one popped up on Armslist. Surprised me because two in as many weeks is unheard of. In fact, these are the first Security Sixs listed in over a year. I texted the guy, we made arrangements and I came home with this. It came with Pachmyer Grippers on it. I hate those. I dug around in the wood pile and came up with a set of factory targets. The pic doesn't really show it, but they're rough as a cob. Oh well, they'll do until I can find something better. I really would have preferred a blue gun, but beggars can't be choosers. I'm happy with it! Anyway, I hope to get it to the range soon. Range report pending.2 points

I have five of the Type 2 RM07 6.5MOA dot. All of them are the adjustable variety. It works great and I like being able to turn them completely off if they are going to be in my safe for a while. Love them. I also have a Gen1 Holosun HE508T red dot. It's a great dot. No problems with it and I know from watching Aaron Cowan beat the hell out of them that it's as rugged as an RMR. I do wish that the dot were a 2MOA or 3MOA instead of the tiny little 1MOA that it has, but I suppose that is why you're supposed to turn on the "ring" reticle and not just run the dot-only reticle. I see myself picking up HE508T-X2 green dot as soon as they are available. I want to see for myself if green is as great as @Links2k says it is. Just kidding. LOTS of people say it is. I do want to try it out for myself.2 points

Call around and ask a few independent diesel shops about the reliability of the big three brands and the particular years. Guarantee they all say avoid the 6.0 Powerstroke and probably the 6.4 PS too.2 points
-
Absolutely 3/4 ton, and get a diesel. Since you are buying used, absolutely under no circumstances get a 6.0 Powerstroke. I’m not familiar with the newer ones but these are junk. Duramax or Cummins is fine but the 6.0PS will be in the shop more than on the road. It’s been several years back now, but my dad pulled a trailer 5-6 days a week all year long for work as a contractor. It was a 7x12 enclosed trailer at an estimated 6-8k (never weighed it). Originally he pulled it with a 99 Silverado 1500 2wd reg cab short bed 4.3 v6. It did the job, but it was obvious you needed more truck. Squatted the rear end quite a bit, nowhere near enough braking power, and it was enough of a strain that I don’t think it would have lasted long term. Did that for 4 years/80k miles, finally was able to get a Duramax, 2004 2500 crew cab short bed 4wd. It did a much better job at it. It was an appropriate truck for that load. If you are only looking at 3-4 years old, you likely won’t save that much over a brand new, left over stock from last year when you buy. Full sized trucks in general and especially diesel pickups hold their value very well even in a non-COVID-19 market.2 points
-
Sounds like you are about to spend some big money! Good luck. Did you tow this trailer with your current half ton truck? It seems like a lot. I think I’d go with the 3/4 ton if for nothing more than heavier duty brakes.2 points

The only thing this kid is guilty of is making a bad decision to go to the protest. But then, 17 year olds are noted for making bad decisions.2 points

Noise cancelling tech helps eliminate noticeable background noise, but it doesn’t protect you from that noise. The AirPods would NOT be suited for the purpose of hearing protection at all.2 points

One day I want the story to say " Armed individuals with gang affiliation began firing at each other, but armed bystanders killed or subdued all of them in order to prevent them from harming others. Police arrived later to take the attackers into custody"2 points

I think that he is a kid who was placed into a bad situation by irresponsible adults. I would never willingly go anywhere near a protest, especially a protest that has the potential to go south. If I were that type of individual and I decided to take my son along, he would never leave my side or he would have been assigned a buddy to stay near at all times. As I have had more time to think about the situation, I’m certain it was a nightmare for him and he was panicked out of his mind. I just can’t get over the fact that he was there voluntarily even though he had a right to be. Nothing good happens at a protest after dark. Let the cops do their jobs or let the president send in the feds or national guard, but there is a lot of potential liability inserting yourself into a protest/riot to protect property. The only exception for me being ones home.2 points

Non-adjustable. If it’s going on a fighting gun, you’ll want the bigger dot.2 points

This educational video has a lot of interesting conceal carry methods that I simply was not aware of. And the fact that I'm old enough to be her Dad.... mind you, my mind was strictly disciplined to the enlightening information of the equipment available to females who are of this particular physical build. On the fence about showing my wife this..... Apparently, this girl has a huge following on youtube. A very bright gal for sure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvKaaj6e7Vk1 point

Hello everyone. I work in the IT department at a small college and live in a small rural town. 3 years ago my sister and brother-in-law bought me my first gun for Christmas. Today I own 3 handguns, a 9mm carbine and I just bought my first AR 15. Pre-Covid I went to the range about twice a month and went through 200 - 300 rounds per trip. Lately, it's almost impossible to find ammo at a reasonable price so my range time has been cut back drastically. I have my carry permit and have attended 2 other training/safety classes. I'm trying to get more involved in gun forums and organizations lately. Not too bad for never having touched a gun in the last 45 years1 point

On Monday, Sept 21, we will be milling and paving at the intersection of SR25 and US231 (Payne’s Store) from 8:30am till 3pm. There will be traffic delays. Please seek an alternate route or else have some patience. Please pass this along to friends and relatives. Thanks.1 point

I know... Those poor gang bangers would be written up like saints. "That boy never hurt nobody. He had his cell phone in his hand not a gun. That eye witness video lies" Then the greaving family would burn down the mall in all their sadness.1 point

I see your point, but look at it this way; he at least was trying to do good. Many, as you can see all over the US, are out there burning and looting instead of protecting their neighborhoods. And while the law, local or and federal should be out there stopping this, many are hamstrung by the very same government entrusted to protect it's people. Somewhere, someone, has to draw the line, and as in many times in the past, it is left to the young to be the feet on the ground.1 point

@hlb14, if everything but the go and stop parts are still serviceable you might find it more economical to upgrade those than spring for a new truck if you're able to during for the out of pocket cost. Could do higher gears and bigger brakes along with a stouter transmission. I don't know what yours is worth (and so what kind of money you'd be out in the buying and selling), but I've been adjacent to a lot of folks buying newer used trucks over the last couple-few years and I don't think prices on those will be much less stupid in the spring...1 point

I ALMOST suggested diesel but you said 5 years old and the last diesel I trusted was a 2009 duramax. Otherwise mr deep pockets better be on speed dial1 point
-
I'd have to know a good diesel mechanic before I jumped into that pool. My wife's work uses a f350 and f550 both with diesels. Those trucks always seem to give them motor/def/emissions problems.1 point

Definitely 3/4 ton. If you're sticking with the bowtie that 6.0 is a beast for a gas burner.1 point

Nice catch Grayfox54. I hope you got a good deal on it, but then just getting ahold of it is a great deal. My son has the 4” blued model I bought him years ago. I’ve always liked it better than the GP100’s I’ve had in the past. I’m another one who’s glad there are still people who have the good sense to embrace revolvers. It does seem to be a dying skill set.1 point

My War Poet will be arriving with a Holosun. I’ve also got a Swampfox on my Hellcat. I’m not attached to the RMR, but I can still admit that they set the standard.1 point
-
You are correct about the RMR being the standard. I have several. I can’t speak to how the Holosuns will hold up to extensive use, but I really like the 507C Green V2. I have three so far. I like the Eotech like reticle, and unlike the RMR I don’t have issues with my astigmatism with the Holosun.1 point

Both of my girls are grown and gone now. When we are together now they ALWAYS bring up a camping story. My oldest tells everyone I taught her how to cook. I let her light the coleman stove, open a can of Dinty Moore beef stew, pour it in the pot (most made it in) and stir it while it heated up. Always amazed me what kids would talk about while around the campfire making smores etc. Hmmm gotta go, something in my eye!1 point

That would be a tough one for me. I don't like anything in my ears for very long. I don't really like things over my ears very long either. It's going to suck when I need hearing aids.1 point

I think I have tried most every SD round out there for 380 Caliber and I finally settled on Hornady 90 gr. FTX Critical Defense and that is what is in all my 380's and the back up mags with them.1 point
