Well, I'm from Memphis..so anytime we can escape here is worth of being called a vacation, lol. Been so drained from doing the daily covid grind of working, watching kids while working, and being unable to do much. Wife and a couple friends of ours took Friday off and loaded up the Kayaks and drove out to an Air BNB around Kingsdon Springs. It was so refreshing! Thats a beautiful little area even though it takes 20 minutes to get on I-40 when as the crow flies its only a mile away haha. Drove by Royal Range...what a spectacle that place is! Friday night we ate at Tupelo Honey...fantastic meal. Saturday we floated the Harpeth River. Water was up, so there were a few rapids and the river was fast flowing and clear. Saturday night we ate at Husk. What a foodgasm that place is! I've eaten at the Husk in Charleston and was so happy it came to Nashville! Really refreshing 3 day vacation without kids...thank you parents for watching these wild creations! Now back to the grind tomorrow!5 points

Dude, me too. Alice in Chains is my favorite band and Layne is just... the man. Layne had such a unique ear and voice for music. He is sorely missed. I love all of Mad Season's live performances.2 points

I was gonna say that the info on the web doesn't specifically prohibit either if those. If they're good with spotlights, night vision isn't much of a stretch. It is (and has been) illegal to relocate any wildlife without a permit. My wife used to work with a raptor rehabber. She had to keep a copy of the rehabber's license in her car in the event she got pulled over while transporting the birds. When I finally showed my dad the regs and told him they'd confiscate his truck, he finally quit relocating raccoons and started planting them.2 points

Jerry Cantrell is awesome too. I just happen to really like Layne's style. Jerry Cantrell wrote many of Alice in Chains songs and I couldn't truly love Alice in Chains without loving him too.1 point

I like them too but now that Layne is gone , when I listen to certain songs like Voices , you can tell how much of Jerry Cantrell's voice was there all along helping Layne out. They both have great voices.1 point

I hate to see Remington broken up, or any American firearms manufacturer for that matter. It looks like most of the assets will just be absorbed into other companies. The sketchy one to me is Roundhill Group, in the present political environment, they could just have a group with $13 million to burn to make a political statement by closing it.1 point

Yes we did. It was beautiful! River wasn’t too crowded either so was very enjoyable. I wanted to find the tunnel. I thought we’d see it from the river but finding out now that we saw the back side of what I wanted to see and would have to have hiked to see the other side of it. So Ill know for next time!1 point

a chronograph helps remove a lot of guess work. Personally I'm a big fan of BE-861 point

those 3 words about sum up the highs and lows. Thru a good of 2017 after semi- retirement to sell a house and prep a move out here, I was at 4,000 rounds per month. After moving here in 2018, with my wife gone to take care of the furry kid, about 2,000 found per month. She went back to work, and by 2019 it was maybe 2,000 rounds per year, mostly in GA when dealt with estate issues. Later in 2019, like a tool, I sold off about 20,000 - 25,000 rounds of what I thought to be excess ammo in case we had to move with buying a house here. If I had only waited a year..... In 2020. I've only been shooting 3 times. The last 2 of those this month. One to sight in a new AK, only 60 rounds. Then last week to teach my 58 year old brother how to shoot (first time!). Only 26 rounds for me they day. Around 500 total rounds this year. Life definitely happens1 point

I can see that certainly being a problem. I know of restrictions in other areas which prohibit the relocation of wildlife. Maybe that’s already against the law in Tennessee and those jerks just chose to disregard that law. Moving wildlife around runs the risk of spreading all types of diseases and parasites and that’s why other areas prohibit the practice. That doesn’t stop people though from illegally relocating raccoons which they have trapped. That has led to the spread of rabies from one area to another.1 point

TWRA tried to have a fairly open season on hogs in order to cut down the numbers. Unfortunately, it had the opposite effect w/ hog numbers spreading during this time. The officers I've spoken with implied that folks were catching them and releasing them to establish a huntable population in their area... so now we have the regulations that are in place.1 point

I load a lot of 115's from brazos, the blue bullets, Missouri and SNS as they all seem to have an almost exact shape. These are loaded up for my CZ pistols which have a very shallow throat compared with other pistols. For this and another reason I migrated from WSF powder to hogdon longshot which is a pretty slow powder (i was worried about high pressures due to deap seating depth and making 132-135 power factor, and I also wanted a powder capable of making some very fast 9mm at the same seating depth if I wanted to, and it does both pretty well). My OAL is ~1.065 with 5.4gr of longshot. This seating depth passes the plunk and spin test and shows no signs of over pressure.1 point

That's not entirely true. A permit can be what ever the TWRA wants it to be. My permit allows thermal or night vision. The only real restriction I have is "Don't shoot towards a dwelling."1 point

To go further, if you're acting as a manufacturer via your FFL & SOT you better also have a letter or contract with a government agency or police department. I've read of guys claiming they were producing samples to demo and market to police departments but they had no solicitation from any law enforcement agency. Their argument reportedly didn't get much traction with ATF.1 point

It would make ecological sense if TN would allow eradication efforts with regards to coyotes and hogs to be conducted without any type of license, equipment or season restrictions. Both coyotes and hogs are invasive species that wreak havoc on the native flora and fauna.1 point

I see. I assumed “artificial light” would cover that for a landowner. See what happens when you assume.1 point

It is my understanding that to make a machine gun, you have to have the FFL & SOT, and a business license, making them for the government or LE. I don’t think you can just get a license and make them for yourself, but I could be wrong. My local laws don’t allow me to even do business as a standard 01 FFL in my home.1 point

I finally committed to dry fire. It's working for me, YMMV This is 7 yards, ability to go out to 12. Promised my wife I wouldn't be putting bullet holes in it. Range lights on and off, with natural light, I can mimic different conditions.1 point

Well not cheap, but my LGS had limited amount of 9mm 115 gr. for $15.95. Better than I have seen elsewhere in awhile.1 point

I love the scenery in that whole area. Threatened for years to buy some property in Wyoming. I bought a plane in Montana years ago and a guy who was over coyote control needed a ride to Rapid City, SD so I told him I would drop him off. He was well connected and asked have you ever scene Mt Rushmore from the air? Told him no. He gets on radio with air traffic. contollers and gets permission and we basically do a couple of close passes checking nostrils. Absolutely thrilling.1 point

There's no doubt in my mind it, is/could be, used as a registration. Not only are the 4473's in play here but also the fine folks who do the NICS checks. Your personal information and the information pertaining to the weapon being purchased is being entered into a data base somewhere.1 point

Hey Erich, don't beat yourself up. Hindsight is 20/20. It sure is easy to see what we could've and should've done when we look to the past. But if it will make you feel any better, bend over and will all put a boot in your rear end.0 points
