...Long story short, I get these two jewels for my birthday. I need some display ideas for them. I intend to make leather sheaths for them as they are built for service and razor sharp. One handle is walnut, and I am unsure of the other handle material.5 points

Well gregintenn came by today and picked up the GPS. Was great to see him again. He came by my other house in Gallatin when I lived there back a few years ago. Had a short visit but was nice to see him again. He is a very nice guy for sure. Glad he got the GPS!!4 points

I would remind folks that wearing even an N95 mask that is properly fitted is NOT going to 100% keep you from getting the virus. If it was that effective then researchers would be wearing them rather than fully sealed body suits with independent fresh air pumped into them when dealing with deadly viruses. Latest research indicates that they reduce your chances of getting COVID by 65%. You can still get the virus through your eyes or by your fingers. The virus can blow into your eyes where it gets washed down into the lacrimal ducts and into your respiratory system. You still need to practice hand-cleansing/sanitizing regularly along with keeping your fingers out of your eyes, mouth, and nose to reduce your chances further.3 points

Not an embarrassment to me, more like a political ploy. But hey, if their economy can handle that, then more power to them.3 points

Family was visiting. Shot some guns with them, mostly .22s. Filmed this and sent it to my uncle (to make him jealous of the backyard range lol) Shooting at 15 yards (middle target) and 7 yards (two close targets). CZ 75 compact. Both GIFs are the same shooting. One GIF is zoomed in (the one on the bottom). Also, I know IDPA doesn't allow steel to be shot at 7 yards. Everyone was further back than me, all wearing eye protection.2 points

Haha, than you shouldn't be in a gun forum, because "eliminating guns saves lives, so we shouldn't resist". It's literally the same argument on the same premise with identical moral and philosophical points. I can show you just as many studies, journals, physicians, articles, etc to the contrary. There is a reason doctors "practice" medicine. Arogance and assumptions in a dynamic event is not good medicine. Good doctors know that, bad doctors talk a lot.2 points

Decreasing odds in one category often increases them in another. That's the nature of a dynamic relationship. For instance, reducing contamination in one category statistically increases the odds of contacting unforseen diseases in other categories. Not to mention weaking an immunity system designed around exposure. The best immunity is herd immunity and isolation is proven to be very bad for both the above. While I am trying not to get it, the best thing I could do is get the virus. Statistically I'm better off that way than any other.2 points

Very cool, congrats!!! Get ya a piece of oak round, 2 to 4 inches thick, put the edge into the round for display. This is ash and much thicker than you need.2 points

As a PA who sees patients everyday, I believe I will trust the science and articles I receive daily to guide my safety and practice. You may rely on whatever you feel gives you the best chance for your safety.1 point

Oh I firmly believe that if he had actually worn one from the start that the number of people against it would be substantially smaller. Trump is a very influential guy. There have been many, many times where he has said or tweeted something and within a few days I've seen those same words get repeated on this forum. People don't seem to realize just how much of an impact he has.1 point

What a guy. First he told us he wouldn't wear a mask and now that COVID is growing exponentially he's suddenly "Patriotic".1 point

This is the latest issue I'm noticing. We started with hand sanitizer and washing hands. But when we moved on to the mask the former took a backseat and now you have people wearing around a catch all funk rag. Not to mention the masks are now littering up everything like cigarette butts. But I guess that's O K Makes me wonder what we are preventing and what we are prolonging1 point

Was at Food City today, mask wearers about 60/40, some employees had their masks pulled down around their neck. No one said anything to non mask wearers, ran to another aisle, held a cross up at them or exposed a necklace of garlic. The only complaint I heard was that one brought their own bags for their groceries... Went a few other places, mask participation was 50/50, no one being barred from entering anywhere. I'm sure getting groceries won't be a problem for many, if one is scared, stay home have someone do their shopping or do the pickup thing. Personally, I want to pick out my own groceries, there's probably more "danger" in having a stranger handling my food.1 point

Yep. Weve used both food city and kroger drive up several times over the last few months. Sometimes ok, sometimes less ok. Depends on who's shopping for you. Nothing major, just some weird substitutions or lack thereof. They also do delivery.1 point

I wonder where the anti-mask crowd will get groceries considering just about every major grocery chain is now requiring it.1 point

I have been watching TGO classifieds for the east end of the state ads trying to find something on my short list to no avail. I started hitting shops in a wide area over the last two weeks and today ran across a Springfield XD Mod 2 4" 9mm with an exceptional trigger on it. It came home with me. I was looking for a Sig P365XL and will continue to look for one at a decent price until one of those comes home with me. I did find that after groping many makes and models there were several that appealed to me and my short list grew longer. One thing I would like to mention is that yesterday I was in Knoxville Tactical. They had more inventory than most and which is part of why my list of wants expanded. Yet they did not have what I needed at this time. A young man in his mid 20s came in and wandered about for a bit and was approached by the store worker, another young man in his mid 20s who asked if he could help. The customer stuttered and stammered at length and the more he spoke the more obvious it was that he knew absolutely nothing about firearms. He openly stated that he was ignorant to firearms, never fired one, never owned one, and had always been anti gun. He stated that he had come to realize that it was time he acquired one and become educated as to safe operation. All of these statements were made in a stammered voice lacking confidence. I tip my hat to the employee who was very understanding and took all the time in the world to question as to intended use in order to provide some suggestions for consideration. I also listened as the employee stressed the importance of training and education being completed in preparation for ownership and offered means for such. The customer became much more comfortable and inquisitive. The young man was still in the store when I left and I feel confident that he was guided appropriately. Never once did the employee display an air of superior knowledge or speak down to the customer, it was more like a "welcome to the fold brother" encounter. This was only the third time I have been in that shop because it is quite a distance from my place. I will return though. I was impressed. So, if anyone on the east end of this great State needs to re-home a Sig P365XL I promise to feed it well.1 point

I love to hear experiences like this. If you haven't already considered or done it, I would suggest seeing if you can contact the store owner and share that exact story. They should know what they are doing right and how good an employee they have. Everyone seems to go that route when they have a problem, and it may be underappreciated in the other direction. Have fun with the new toy.1 point

A lot of people are becoming first time buyers. Some don't even know how to load one, fire it, or where safety is or anything. When this cools down, I expect to see lots of slightly used handguns, rifles, and shotguns traded in.1 point

I'll sort it out. I need to figure out how to minimize the repeats and having them in two places for posting makes that harder. For now I have made enough space for a few days.1 point

“Defund the police” has also probably spooked a few people into becoming first-time gun buyers.1 point

Nice looking axes. I like the blade profile on the walnut. Nice board with some pegs in it kind of like the pic but with 4 and nicer. Face the blades out. If you have little ones to worry a out, a leather strip could hook between the pegs to hold them on.1 point

I think masks are going to be around for a while since the big boys (Hanes and Fruit of the Loom) started making them. Manufacturers with money attract Politicians.1 point

Its not. I couldn't care less if you do or don't wear a mask. I got attacked for my position and am simply defending myself and stating my opinions on the matter. Y'all started this, not me. The vast majority of credible doctors, medical experts and organizations on this whole planet state that wearing masks does indeed help slow the spread of Covid-19. Many cities and businesses agree and require people to wear masks. I also agree. Of course this is the internet. You can always find somebody who will back your opinion as well. What you choose to believe is up to you. I have no intentions of forcing anybody wear a mask. Just bear in mind that some of the places you go just might. Really, how hard is it just to wear a mask? Its nothing. Hardly any inconvenience at all. But, ask yourself and be honest, is wearing a mask that much of an imposition for you or does it just piss you off that someone else is telling you you have to wear one and this is just you're way of rebelling?1 point

That's a bit small for me. lol Although it is literally small for me...I'd be trying to tear myself out in just a few minutes. My claustrophobia would be in full blown panic mode when that door shut. Where we live now, flooding would also be a concern. Pretty much the lowest spot on the street, so all runoff hits us. Now if we move, the storm shelter/safe room combo is what I'd want to do. Mentally, I've built up the image of something like an 8x8 room. Maybe a bit of overkill, but when you add more than 2 people, a few tools, weapons, and a bit of food and water; I think I'd like the extra space. But that's all conjecture at this point. Doesn't look like we will be moving anytime soon.1 point

To far to run if caught asleep. Make the door open into the room Mine is above ground, concrete pad with rebar down into the footings up into the first run of 12" block. 12" block walls 8' high with tie wire grid every 2 runs and rebar in every hole(3 in the corner holes) down to the pad. 6x6 "I" beam with 1/2" thick webs, covered with 3/4 plywood, rebar from the block bent over the plywood to make a web of rebar for the roof. Formed a 7' thick roof pad and poured walls full and roof pad in one pour. We have a vault door that was in place when the walls were poured and is locked in by the concrete. The door opens into the room so storm debris cant block the door from being opened. 6' steel pipes with 2 90* elbows to make a 180* for vents.1 point
