I'm amused that anyone thinks anyone else gives two ####s what the other thinks. It's pretty clear by now and has been for years that people do what they want. Some will follow, some won't. Some have reasons, some don't. Think anything you want of the other person as it affects their life is absolutely zero ways. My general motto is you do you, I'll do me. Don't like me or my decisions, so be it. I can tell you at least one of us isn't losing sleep over it. I suspect most here are the same.5 points

The mask isn't stopping the virus. It's stopping your spittle from getting on everything everywhere you go. It actively slows the spread by lessening your impact on the environment around you. It has nothing to do with protecting you from anything. It's the same reason that surgeons and surgery staff wear the masks.5 points

I think I will just stay home, I have come to realize I don't really care for human interaction anyway these days.3 points

One of the problems is that too many people are only looking at the death toll which isn't that high. Here in the Memphis area deaths have been holding around a low 2% rate since the beginning. Giving many a false sense of security. People are ignoring what the survivors are having to deal with. First is the cost of treatment. You all know how expensive even a short hospital stay can get. Imagine the cost of weeks or even months in ICU. Even with good health insurance many survivors are facing medical bills of over a million dollars. A great many will end up bankrupt. While most of us aren't very fond of insurance companies, they're taking a pounding,. Which in turn is going to affect our entire economy. Don't forget all the businesses shut down and people out of work. It'll take years for our country to financially recover. Getting back to the survivors, this is a devastating disease which affects the entire body. Many survivors are left with permanent damage to lungs, heart, kidneys and other internal organs which will require care for the rest of their lives. Some will be left permanently disabled and unable to work. You need to understand that this pandemic will have long lasting effects on our nation, our economy, our population and our very way of life. Anything that we, as individuals, can do to slow it down will help. WEAR A MASK!3 points

If you want to target them specifically, you need a special lure & wire leader.... The lure consists of a 4-7" long length of white nylon rope. Unravel it a bit so it gets 'woolly' They snap at it & it catches in their teeth (this isn't a joke, by the way) Setting a hook in their bony mouths is really tough & an exercise in frustration at times! They're a ton of fun to fly fish for too!3 points

Try being a city employee. You're invisible until your work happens to slightly inconvenience some citizen. Especially on residential streets. Then they go completely nuts! I don't know how many times I've heard "I pay your salary!"3 points

I really don't want to bring down the tone of this very important day. I'm a solitary and usually independent old cuss, but tonight I would ask for some prayers of support for my wife, Susan, and mother-in-law Bettie. And leave it to me to forget his love...Julie. I'm sorry. We lost my brother-in-law Tad this afternoon and I had to tell my wife she'd lost her brother, and then go and tell Bettie that her son was gone. I did it, and that's all I can say. If you can remember them in your prayers for the next few days; I would appreciate it. Thank you.2 points

Go big or go home. I'll probably be able to see the beam from Hwy 100 if you fire it off in the sky from your house.2 points

Dennis I think you wrote what a lot of people are thinking and discussing in their close circles. I certainly don't wish this to happen, but I am afraid there will be some violent conflicts soon if these "peaceful protesters" that are looting, burning, attacking cops and civilians and closing down interstates aren't arrested and put into the pokey for quite awhile. And if things aren't crazy enough, the black guy driving the Jaguar in Seattle on I-5 was arrested for hitting the little idiots blocking an Interstate highway. I am sorry that 1 was killed and 1 serious injuries, but if you stand in the interstate, there is a good probability you may encounter a vehicle that may not see you in time to avoid hitting you. Enough is enough and what is really crazy is the people in Britain, France, Australia and others are protesting. I'm sorry, but they ain't got a dog in this hunt. Best advice for all is to keep praying for this nation, because we can't do it alone!!2 points

It’s undoubtedly a political ploy. Too many people need this to drag out as long as possible for real or perceived financial and political gains. I have no doubt the virus is real, but highly questionable reporting methods and financial incentives for people to sit in the recliner and watch Netflix instead of finding work as well as for hospitals, nursing homes, etc for Covid cases have made me skeptical about this “spike.” If Trump loses, the virus will probably be forgotten within a week.2 points

The real problem started back when our top docs -- Fauci et al -- lied to us saying masks were ineffective while simultaneously saying medical professionals desperately needed more PPEs, i.e. masks. What?!! Masks aren't 100% effective. In fact, they might not even be 50% effective, but here's the deal. Even if a mask doesn't eliminate exposure 100%, it might reduce the volume of the exposure. If it reduces the volume of the virus enough, your own immune system might be enough to fight it off. For those that have trouble breathing with a mask on, cut out the inner liner. I did it just to see if it made a difference in air flow and it helps a lot. Granted, I still wear my N95 masks in public indoors, but I'm in great health and I fully intend to do everything I can to stay that way.2 points

I wear a mask whenever I go into public now. Why? Well you see in the 90s a doc cut out a 1/3 of one of my lungs and I don't trust the idiot masses I see to give a rats a$$ about me. They barely care about themselves. It is my responsibility to take care of myself and family. No one else will. Are masks 100% effective? Maybe not, but next to nothing is. Look at the things happening around us. Very few here would disagree that conceal carrying is a personal responsibility to protect yourself. Is carrying a guarantee you will not be shot or in an altercation. H3ll no. Why does that not extend to protecting you and your family's health? It only takes one idiot to infect you. Maybe you will be fine or maybe you will go out of the hospital in a bag. By the way, My parent's are pissed at me right now because I refused to come to Sevier County for their anniversary. They don't seem to understand that the county having an increase of 358% in total cases from June 5 to June 19 alone is a big deal. Of course they can't seem to stop going to Wal-mart every few days for this or that. They both have serious medical complications and are in the highest risk age group. SMH2 points

I support wearing masks in public, and do so myself in public spots with the exception of my morning walks where I can just avoid people by getting out of the way. While I have legit reservations about if/should government be able to mandate it aside from an enforcement of health codes for businesses, but at the same time, we should be doing the right thing, so the debate should be unnecessary. Other counties are getting this thing under control, but here we are, seemingly destined to 'Merica this up.2 points

My wife and I ran a small gift shop in the late 8s and early 90s. Located in a well known mall. Like most smaller operations, we made our income from October thru December and barely broke even the rest of the year. Not complaining, that's just the way of things. To paraphrase what Dirtshooter says, the public, i.e. our/your typical customer is usually a pleasant, decent sort of person that we enjoyed dealing with. We had built up a fair base of repeat customers, and they were a joy to see and we counted them as friends and treated them so when they came in. Then there are those who don't like this item or that one. This color is wrong. It's perfect or it's a disgusting piece of crap, why would anyone want that in their homes. Then there's the " that's too high and related crowd." You learn to deal with them as best you can. But there are always the ones who cannot be served in a decent manner. Rude, insolent, abrasive and obnoxious. You can on most all of them just grin and bear it. Then you have "that" one you just want to smack with a bat. But all you can do is at most ask them to leave. Makes a person go a bit bat#### crazy after a while.2 points

I do not oppose you wearing one. I do oppose someone trying to force you to wear one.2 points

I never was much into rifles, but do own a couple .22s and kept an AK47 around mainly for security purposes, along with an AK pistol in 5.56. I recently had thoughts of selling the latter (prices are nutz right now) and buying an AR pistol, thinking that such would be much lighter. But without doing a custom AR build and spending $$$ on ultra-light skeletal parts, they still weigh-in @ 7lbs or so. I decided to instead do a few cheaper upgrades to my M85, mostly because I wanted something "new" without going broke and it's much cheaper/easier (and fun) to make changes to what you already have...sorta like when the wife wants a new living-room and you end up just painting walls and rearranging the furniture. lol Mainly what's new is the paint/stenciling, handguard & brace....mainly. The OD color is most "true" in the vertical pic. T'was a fun project to tinker on. I have several plain PMAGs but after the hysteria subsides I'll shop around for OD Hex mags.... stencil'n is a PITA en masse. I'm going to wear a mask even if the only reason is to try and put this pandemic behind us quicker. Can we at least agree that would be a good thing? I do believe that this thing will end quicker if we all make a little effort. If I'm wrong, then the worst thing that's happened to me is minor inconvenience from wearing one. I just don't feel like they are asking that much from us at this point. Shutting down businesses was far worse than wearing a mask.1 point

I had no idea this was even possible but a brief experiment just proved that it can be done, rather easily if you’re not paying attention when reassembling the Glock pistol.1 point

That and also the person at the airline ticket counter. I have no proof, but suspect after witnessing folks giving crap to the ticket agent, they might have physically gotten to their destination, but I bet their luggage didn't...1 point

Not sure what the customer did or what is going on with that gun, but that result can happen when you are putting the slide back on the gun and the guide rod is too low in the barrel lug or off center or they miss the front frame rails with the slide. I would suspect something more than just a slide getting racked happened.1 point

But, but, Glocks are perfect! Just had to throw that in out there. They are great guns. I own a Gen 2 17. It's my longest owned pistol. Had it since 90'. But just like all the rest of them, they do have issues from time to time.1 point

To anyone that hasn't dealt with the public. You haven't a clue as to what you are missing. A bunch of really good customers that you enjoy dealing with and a few soreheads that you couldn't please them if you gave them a million dollars. But the good customers outweigh the bad ones!!1 point

Cool. For some reason it was stuck in the back recesses of my mind that they were toxic. A quick google search disproves that theory. However, like a snapping turtle, I have little interest getting close enough to something with that many teeth to dress it.1 point

I have tried that and do not like the texture of the meat. I throw them in my pellet grill till 130° and then put them on the sear box to get a nice crust. Throw them in a pan with a little garlic butter on top and let them rest for 5 minutes. Delicious.1 point

Thanks for the update but I would rather watch American pickers than all the talk shows on most networks that are either hawking about the Virus or the Racism all across the country. I'm doing my part with the virus and staying home and have masks if I did go out. I am not a racist, never have been and never will be. I look at a persons actions and make a decision on if they might be a marron or not but the color of a persons skin does not make them one. I learned a long long time ago that actions speak much louder than words!!1 point

I'm afraid you'll be severely disappointed. TLC no longer has anything to do with "learning" anything other than maybe how stupid modern society has become. Nat Geo is now primarily shows about criminals. Either being locked up or how they got that way. Discovery is now pretty much non stop reality show BS. It could legitimately be renamed "The Mike and Frank Network". (American Pickers) Edit ... Forgot History .... mostly junk also. One of those does have Forged In Fire. I watch that often. But they show far more reruns than new episodes so it gets old PDQ. If you have streaming capabilities, Curiosity Stream is informative. It was built by the same folks who built the original Discovery Channel. Science Channel is still pretty good. But it's in a higher tier pkg than my subscription so I only get to watch it on free preview days.1 point

Well bugger my old brown boots. I heard that Blue Bloods hadn't been renewed after season 10. I'm seriously happy to see it's going to continue. In twenty-some-odd years, it's the one of the only tv show that me & Mrs. P can watch together.1 point
