  1. 7 Unelected "experts" decide for over 450,000 residents. Sounds worse than a HOA to me...

  5. I have been wanting one of these S&W Model 29-10 44 Magnum's ever since I saw my first Dirty Harry movie. This gun has been at Guns and Ammo in Memphis for sometime. Every time I come into the store I take a look at it. Yesterday I bit the bullet and picked it up. Once I get it to the range I will give an update on how it shoots.

  14. I talked with the butcher not too long ago. The meat market is weird right now. He said they were over supplied on a lot of stuff and were grinding up nice steaks and turning them into ground beef.

  15. All I can find for TX is they passed 1 million permits in 2016 and they changed it from CHL (concealed handgun license) to LTC (license to carry) after passing open carry legal. Saw one article that mentioned TN has far more gun permits per capita than TX and 2nd or 3rd in the nation. Behind FL Edit: found it. 1.4 million license holders in TX as of Dec 31, 2019 https://www.dps.texas.gov/rsd/LTC/reports/ActLicAndInstr/ActiveLicandInstr2019.pdf

  17. I've been looking around for A SIG P-365 SAS complete slide assembly with barrel and springs to put on my P-365XL. I found one at Sig but it only comes with the non-ported slide only, no barrel Smallgunparts.com has what I want but its way more than i want to spend. Anyone have any ideas where else to look? I also tried gunbroker and Buds with no luck.

  19. Yep. The opening date keeps being pushed back. First time I saw these vids on it, the date was early June. I do so hope this gets finished. Would at last be a range convenient to me. Just a hop onto Briley and then off at Elm Hill! Leave home and be firing in less than 10 minutes. I like that thought.

  22. I'm afraid you'll be severely disappointed. TLC no longer has anything to do with "learning" anything other than maybe how stupid modern society has become. Nat Geo is now primarily shows about criminals. Either being locked up or how they got that way. Discovery is now pretty much non stop reality show BS. It could legitimately be renamed "The Mike and Frank Network". (American Pickers) Edit ... Forgot History .... mostly junk also. One of those does have Forged In Fire. I watch that often. But they show far more reruns than new episodes so it gets old PDQ. If you have streaming capabilities, Curiosity Stream is informative. It was built by the same folks who built the original Discovery Channel. Science Channel is still pretty good. But it's in a higher tier pkg than my subscription so I only get to watch it on free preview days.

  24. Firearm-related background checks reached 3.9 million in June, the most since the tracking system was created more than two decades ago amid multiple crises in the coronavirus pandemic, an economic downfall and protests over police brutality and racial injustice. The lastest numbers are the most since the FBI began tracking such checks in 1998. More than 19 million checks -- a key barometer for gun sales -- were conducted in the first half of 2020, more than all of 2012 and many years prior. Gun sales usually see an uptick in presidential election years over fears an incoming president could restrict access to firearms. https://www.foxnews.com/us/gun-background-checks-hit-record-high-in-june-a-sign-of-booming-sales-fbi-reveals

  25. I can't even count the number of times we had to ban people from coming here and stirring up drama about people on that site, who weren't even TGO members, because of bad deals. Or the occasions when we would be alerted to the fact that some scammer over there was using photos and descriptions of firearms listed for sale on TGO to post bogus ads on that site. People would Google whatever the key words were and then wind up here looking at the legit ad and raise hell with the legit ad's poster about whatever scam had happened to them on that site. It took us a few times of that happening before we totally figured it out, but after that it was a 100% block for any URLs going there. That place used to be a complete cesspool. I can only assume it still is.

  26. By the way, I had 3d printed a bunch of masks when there were shortages for a number of friends/family in health care work to their spec. I have a bunch left. If anyone wants a 3d printed mask and replaceable filter I will give you one or a few for FREE I just ask that you meet me in Knoxville. The link shows specifically what they are. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4225667

  29. I've got a 6" Model 29-8. Its a classic all right. Every gun owner should at least experience one. Honestly, I very rarely shoot it. For big bores I much prefer the .44 Special and .45 Colt. I'm just not a fan of all that buck and roar of the big magnum. The only reason I have it is because it was left to me when a dear friend passed away. Believe it or not, that cannon was his EDC.

  30. While I make jokes, TWRA is a government agency I don’t mind in the least. They perform their function well and within the revenue provided by their fees. The fact that they are self supporting by the folks who actually wish to make use of their services elevates them in my eyes on basic principles alone.

  34. I first picked it up at the stockyards decades ago. It basically means someone who buys something with full intent on resale. After doing shows for so many years i can pick out the veterans at it. More a cutthroat crew to deal with than at the stockyards.

  36. I have a package of N95 masks. I keep two in my van. Here's how I use them. Prior to going into a store, I put on the mask, making sure that I pinch around the nose to get a good seal. What works best for me to get a good seal is to keep the lower elastic band around my neck and the upper band above my ears. In the store, I don't touch my face, but I don't worry too much about touching the mask... more on that later. Upon leaving the store, I unpack my cart, put it away, get in my van, use hand sanitizer on both hands. Then, using only the elastic bands, I remove the mask and place it facing up on the dash in full sunlight. I'm careful to only touch the straps since the mask might have gotten exposed to virus. Then, I reapply a little hand sanitizer on the tips of my fingers that touched the mask. Any coronavirus that gets on the mask will be killed in minutes in full sunlight. Or, at least, that's my belief. Should I need to go into another store in a few minutes, I either leave the mask on or I switch to a clean mask for the second store. I also carry a tiny spray bottle of alcohol that puts out a mist. I use that to clean the steering wheel, workout gloves, keys, etc. It's really not too inconvenient to do this once you make it a habit.

  37. If you didn't feel you were in enough danger to shoot them in the chest then you were not in enough danger to shoot them PERIOD. Lethal force is LETHAL force and shooting someone a LITTLE is just like shooting them a lot. Once the gun comes out and goes BANG everything changes. Its not just for funsies anymore.....And what happens when you try to play Lone Ranger and shoot dude in the gun hand and the bullet ricochets off his gun and into his carotid artery? Or you shoot dude in the leg because you "don't want to hurt him" and you hit him square in the femoral artery and he bleeds out in 60 seconds? Now what? Oooops? "Sorry, my bad"...? There is a reason that virtually all police departments including the FBI dropped "shooting to wound" as a strategy a half century ago. And the only people that argue for it is people who have ZERO experience with, or education in violence. So they should probably hop on their unicorn and ride it over the rainbow and stop making ignorant suggestions about things they have no idea about.

  38. Dear TGO Members... Tennessee Gun Owners is your organization. There is absolutely no need to seek administrative approval to organize local get togethers whether it be a trip to the range, lunch somewhere, dinner, a backyard BBQ, or whatever. We want you folks to get together in safe, friendly environments. Invite your non-firearms enthusiast friends! Bring your spouse, your kids, your significant other (but not at the same time as your spouse!). Get folks involved! The only things we ask are that: You assemble peaceably and in a legal fashion. You try to keep the event "Family Friendly" ... i.e. not at the local nudie bar You take pictures and post them in our gallery so everyone else can enjoy your fun! Please remember that if you assemble as TGO members, you're in essence representing this community. Do your best to put your best foot forward in the spirit of promoting a positive image of firearms owners and enthusiasts in the great state of Tennessee.

  39. You sure don't like him...do you? lol I did that sort of thing with a friend. Not as radical though. I had a Smith 19 snubbie(still have it actually) we were shooting. The guy was a bit of smart###, so I reloaded for him. I had some target loads and a few hot loaded 357s I got from a guy that reloaded. Bill "The Rabbi" Bernstein. I think he tried to make them too hot for me. So I handed Mickey the 19. Three 38 target loads and 3 specials. He cursed me loudly afterwards. I think it stung just a bit. But I do wish I'd had a 44mag to do that with. I did buy Tracker 44 later, but he never came shooting with me again. Not because of this little trick, but because of politics. He was a Flaming Lib trying to convert me. Didn't work.
