I seriously shook after finishing One Second After. So darn authentic feeling, and have many diabetic family members; so it was truly and eye-opening read. The Road just gutted me. That has to be the bleakest and darkest book I've ever read. Hands down. Makes any thought of survival quite slim in a cataclysmic event.2 points

In the comments, considering the cost of Lego, a real one would've been cheaper. This guy has made some neat stuff, there is a video on the Garand he cameos Digging deeper, the are some Master Artificers building fully functioning Legoarms... Legos I received at 10-12 (40 years ago) where handed down to my son, we then passed them in to younger sons of close friends... Tactically, a handful of Legos on the floor are more effective than caltrops.2 points

I don’t know anything about Swiss K31 trainers but if they are the real deal, then I’m sure they are exquisite and will shoot what way. Please entertain and educate us with a range report!2 points

I just recently finished the first four books in the series, so they're still fresh in my mind. Like I said the resemblance to current events is down right scary. Deleting/ changing history, hating people and historical figures with claims of racism. PC run amok. Its all in his books and then some. There's a 5th book due out soon. I had planned to get it, now I'm kinda spooked and not sure.1 point

My guess is there will be a lot more self defense shootings nation wide-with police dept cut backs and politician's not willing to actually let the Officer's due their job without retaliation from the thug's and Democrat's. Can't even blame Officer's that are leery of defending themselves because of misled reprisal.1 point

How To Install A Home Security System..... Go to a second hand store and buy a pair of men's used size 14-16 work boots. Place them on your front porch, along with a copy of Guns & Ammo Magazine. Put a few giant dog dishes next to the boots and magazines. Leave a note on your door that reads: 'Bubba, Bertha, Duke, Rocky, & I went for more ammo and beer. Be back in an hour. Don't mess with the pit bulls; they attacked the mailman this morning and messed him up bad. I don't think Killer took part, but it was hard to tell from all the blood. Anyway, I locked all four of 'em in the house. Better wait outside. Be right back. 'Cooter'1 point

A big can of that powerful long stream Wasp spray kept in the console works good. That stuff is nasty mean!!!1 point

I would guess disabling the audio recording would be fairly simple. I do not think editing the video prior to giving it to police is a good idea. Sounds a lot like evidence tampering to me, and only guilty people do that.1 point

Well stated and concise. I like that. Will be looking at dash cams too.1 point

Interesting thread. I think I'd try to do things in this order: 1. Avoid if at all possible. Call 911 2. Leave if possible. 3. If non-violent. Try to wait for the crowd to move on or police come. 4. If violent, use the vehicle as a battering ram to make room to escape. 5. Fire only if absolutely necessary. I've never really thought about a dash cam. But now, I do believe I'll look into it.1 point

I'll give Dodge credit on their colors. Too many cars/trucks are very bland these days. Fire engine red is about the best you can hope for, and i don't really like that color. I haven't seen a decent green in years.1 point

I made one for my carbine (at the time I needed it, every place was sold out). Cut a socket in half and welded to a steel pipe. Ugly, but it worked well. Mine was coated in loctite but broke free easily. Go mag dump and then try to break it free.1 point

Depends on WHERE you are in the traffic. the first thing is to call 911 if for no other reason than to get it on record what is happening. If you are the first car then keep moving if you can. I'm not talking about "drive through the crowd in Charlottesville " style, I'm talking about just rolling through slowly enough not to do any undue harm if possible. But again this depends on the mood of the crowd. People chanting and waving signs and people throwing bricks are two different things. And if someone kicks your car or hits it with a bat that is still not necessarily justification to shoot them (yet). If it is obvious that they are "out for blood" then proceed as necessary. Drive around, through or over them if need be. If that is not possible and you have the option to "safely" wait it out then that might be the best option but again, once the crowd gets violent it is a LETHAL situation and the "disparity of force" is through the roof. Respond as necessary. This is not the time for "well I only carry my gun every now and then". And if a J-frame and the 5 rounds in the cylinder is all you carry you might want to reconsider that. Is there a time to get out of the vehicle? Yes. If you are stuck in the middle of the traffic and they are setting cars on fire then you are going to have to do SOMETHING. That something might be get out and run , get out and try to help others get out of their cars (think elderly folks who might need help) or get out, grab your rifle and make things very loud. Obviously that is a last resort but I'd rather have that option and not need to use it than not have that as an option. If you have a passenger (passengers) this might change things. Who is the passenger? Your wife? Your wife and small children? Your teenage age daughters? Your SF friend who just got back from a deployment to Syria and you are coming home from the range? All of these details matter and will color what you do and frankly what you are able to do. The best place to be is NOT THERE. So if you can avoid it then avoid it, if you can drive around it, then drive around it if not and you can drive through it do that. Worst case is having to get out and solve this on foot. I was in Raymond Mississippi at the Rangemaster Master Instructor class when the widespread nationwide rioting kicked off on the night of May 28. We all were aware of the news as the class progressed from Fri-Sun. Virtually all of us were visitors to the area and would all have to make our ways home Sunday night after class. My plan was to fill the car up before I left (I could make it all the way home on 1 tank of gas) , to simply stay on the interstate if possible, check in with friends along the way for a local reports of what was going on in their areas (I drove essentially diagonally through Alabama on 59 ) and to be ready to drive around or through any problems, and keep the AUG on the front seat for any potential problems that I could not drive around or through. People think you are crazy carrying a rifle and 7 mags with you until the rioting starts. Then you are a prophet.1 point

Homelite became a major name in the chainsaw world in the 1940s, and still produces saws today, though they are not revered as the saws that they once were. I've never run the bowsaw and don't know if I want to, but from what I understand, one of the major advantage is not having to bend over as much while cutting up logs.1 point

Found this and wanted to share. https://www.warhistoryonline.com/military-vehicle-news/the-gigantic-180-meter-long-us-army-land-trains-of-the-1950s.html The Gigantic 180 Meter Long US Army Land Trains Of The 1950s The Texan company, LeTourneau, was instructed to design these huge land trains in the 1950s by the US Government. The United States Army got three units built (experimental ones) and the largest reached a length of 600 feet (183 meters), which holds the official record for being the longest vehicle that is off-road. Road trains are still in use today, in some roles, but the Army examples (along with a few other derivatives) seem to be the only models which were built as off-road land trains. LeTourneau was based in Longview Texas and produced heavy equipment, in the early 50’s the came up with the idea of utilizing a diesel/electric transmission that would drive multi-wheeled vehicles. Each individual wheel would be driven by a separate motor, which served to give better traction as it spread the force out across a number of wheels. These vehicles were basically the same as locomotives of this time but had rubber wheels instead of steel .1 point

Well reloading is not for everyone. Everyone always talks about the time involved but I look at it as an alternative to shooting in winter months. Brass has been free for me for a long time and I've always managed to find deals on powder and primers. I can roll my own as consistently as any factory ammo I've bought. Doesn't hurt that my reloading partner is a somewhat anal-compulsive engineer. Ya'll are welcome to Wallyworld and I don't mean that rudely. I get a great deal of satisfaction reloading and y'all are welcome to what I might have purchased.1 point

I honestly don't know if reading Indian Country first would be helpful or not. I was given books 1 & 3 and read them. #2 and 4 are on the way and I haven't read them yet. However, I would suggest you start with People's Republic as it lays out the premise and explains the way things are. Generally authors of a series tend to build on previous books.1 point

I'm more than a little concerned about that last part. I know more often than not the decision to use deadly force is a split second one and hesitation could lead to their own death. Seems those screaming to defund forget theres a lot of black cops. Must have been the ones Biden spoke about0 points
