I wanted to give a shout out to our very own Tiffany, Aqil and Randy for achieving Master Firearms Instructor from Range Master. This final Development and Certification Course is a 3 day seminar with 24 hours of instruction, coaching, gun handling and adult teaching methodologies. For the instructors, it is the culmination of 64 total hours of intensive training. For a little info on Tom Givens and Range Master https://rangemaster.com/ My hat is off to all professional instructors who seek out continuing education and training; they are looking to get better to be better for their students. These are type of teachers I would recommend folks seek out. Of course I will shamelessly plug @Tiffany Johnson @aqil @Cruel Hand Luke but I am biased as I serve as Randy's valet Congratulations Tiffany, Aqil and Randy for conquering this milestone in your training careers!2 points

A couple of notes of observation today. - front serrations present on the Canik, none on the Glock - slide cut present on the Canik, none on the Glock - striker indicator present on the Canik, none on the Glock - loaded chamber indicator present on the Canik, none on the Glock - lightening cuts present in the slide of the Canik, none on the Glock - the striker is 4 times thicker on the Canik - both have replaceable backstraps - both have dual captured springs - both have an indention cut into the trigger guard - the barrels are about the same thickness on both, but the Canik is a cold forged match grade barrel. - the triggers physically are the same, but the Canik breaks and resets much better - the mag springs are much tighter in the Glock, needs a loader to be done comfortably. MSRP - Glock $749 / Canik $429 To get the Glock milled for an RMR and slide cuts is roughly $250. A trigger job to make it as good as the Canik is $150. A replacement Match grade glock barrel is $125. The steel tactical sights upgrade for glock is $100. +$600 to get the Glock up to the Canik standards so $749+$600 = $1349 We all know Canik triggers are legendary, and we know they are a great value so really all I wanted to know is out of the box how do they compare to the Glock 19. After I got adjusted to the Glock I think I shot it just as well - even if I wasn’t impressed with the trigger. It seems to be a great gun, but at a cost. If I were spending the money I’d choose just as i did. I bought the Elite SC. Later I bought the Glock. Both are great and everyone interested in them should have both. I think you will upgrade the Glock differently if you own the Canik first.2 points

If you didn't feel you were in enough danger to shoot them in the chest then you were not in enough danger to shoot them PERIOD. Lethal force is LETHAL force and shooting someone a LITTLE is just like shooting them a lot. Once the gun comes out and goes BANG everything changes. Its not just for funsies anymore.....And what happens when you try to play Lone Ranger and shoot dude in the gun hand and the bullet ricochets off his gun and into his carotid artery? Or you shoot dude in the leg because you "don't want to hurt him" and you hit him square in the femoral artery and he bleeds out in 60 seconds? Now what? Oooops? "Sorry, my bad"...? There is a reason that virtually all police departments including the FBI dropped "shooting to wound" as a strategy a half century ago. And the only people that argue for it is people who have ZERO experience with, or education in violence. So they should probably hop on their unicorn and ride it over the rainbow and stop making ignorant suggestions about things they have no idea about.2 points

Today I picked up my new CZ Shadow 2 ACCU Optic RDS from CZ Custom Shop. I have not had a chance to shoot it yet, but will do a review in the next few weeks.1 point

Absolutely agree - hats off to those who take the time and effort to not only teach and train others but also invest their own time and resources to continue their training and learning.1 point

Sourced from the Truth about Guns It was bad enough that millions of people lined up outside gun stores beginning in March when national emergency was declared. Sales continued at a brisk pace as news dribbled out of cities and states opening their jails and police departments hobbled by an infected workforce. According to a survey of gun stores, 40% of all of those guns were sold to first-time buyers, people who shrugged off the horror stories and fearmongering of the gun control community in favor of obtaining the means for personal and home defense. All of that was discouraging for our friends in the Civilian Disarmament Industrial Complex. And then the riots started. Cites were trashed and burned by Antifa-fueled mobs, some spilling into residential areas. That triggered a new surge in gun buying that may very well exceed the earlier one. May set a new record with 1.7 million guns sold, and the violence and rioting didn’t start until the last few days of the month. Now, with the help of their sympathetic and compliant friends in the media, the gun control industry is trying to rally. Yesterday, the Washington Post tried to sell the story that we can’t expect cops’ behavior to improve unless we also enact more gun control laws. At the same time, the Everygreen State New York Times ran an op-ed from our favorite California gun control grifter, Dr. Garen Wintemute (along with a couple of pals) who says he’s worried about the safety of all of those new guy buyers. – Studdert, Miller and Wintemute in Coronavirus Could Make America’s Gun Problem Even Deadlier I didn't read the article, just the excerpt and highlighted the quote. These guys infer all the reported DGUs are perhaps over reported and exaggerated. Unless there is an arrest or a body, how do you report?1 point

However...the Canik prices continue to rise. Whether it's actual cost of product, or just distributors looking for a larger profit; the Canik continues to be a well received line by the gun buying public. First time and newbies looking for another are attracted by the comments they see and the relatively low prices. We older and more savvy buyers have discovered the quality and continue to add them to our own inventories. I wish now I'd bought more of the first gen imports; the steel frame models like the T100. These are true gems. I have a T100 and the Shark variant. Both are amazing. Another import gaining ground seems to be the SAR line, at least I think so. Classic Firearms put out a mailing around 9 yesterday morning, and by mid afternoon, the nice models were gone.1 point

A handgun should have a cylinder, a shotgun should have two barrels, and a rifle should have a lever. That is a nice pair. Most folks do not realize how high quality a rifle Marlin built before the Remlin takeover.1 point

Upon further review I think I might have misread the intent of the OP's friend's question.... So this question to Luke9511 , WHY exactly does your friend suggest they aim for arms legs and head? I apparently missed the head part and that does kind of change the dynamic. If he's willing to have them shoot for the head then his question is probably not coming from a "lets not hurt them" place. But not knowing WHY he is suggesting this course of action makes answering your question more difficult. There is a line of thinking that goes "the bad guys are likely to be wearing armor so we skip the thorax altogether and aim for pelvis or head to start with. That line of logic and the folks that are practicing that as "plan A" are NOT coming from the "police dealing with average street crimes pool". This is from folks who are more likely to A. be using long guns as primary weapons, B. to be engaging folks that are also armed with rifles and heavier weapons working in groups and B. engaging folks often with business affiliation with freelance pharmaceutical distribution from south of the US border. Another group that practices going straight to pelvis or head is one that guards political VIP types and for whom a major threat profile is armor wearing folks. Again, not the average street cop concerns or mission profile. And frankly if your friend saw the overwhelming majority of cops shoot he'd probably change his mind and say "shoot at the biggest thing you can shoot at ...from as CLOSE to it as you can get....."1 point

I have an Extar EP9 and consider it to be the best value in a AR type 9mm out there. CLICK HERE Its not quite a true AR as it is a blowback action and the charging handle is on the side. But many standard AR parts drop right in. You can't buy these in gun stores. You have to order it directly from Extar and they'll ship it to your FFL. The best part is that the price with shipping comes to $439.00 I haven't shot it a whole lot. But so far, mine has been very reliable with all ammo I've tried. Shove a 32 round mag in it and its a hoot! Truthfully, I just consider it a range toy. If the SHTF I have other guns that I'd go for. I've only had two minor issues with it. Aftermarket magazines needed to be lightly sanded on the sides in order to drop free. If jammed in hard, mags can go in a little too far and block the bolt. I just insert the mag and give it a slight pull and everything is fine. Here's mine after I got it all decked out. Even with the extras, I still have less in it than I would buying a similar pistol from a name maker. BTW: Extar has plans to make these in .45acp & 10mm also. But right now they're so swamped with orders for the 9mm that the other calibers are on indefinite hold.1 point
