  1. As I grow older, I love .22s more than ever. I have a Winchester Model 63 automatic that was my Dad's. I have been wanting to add either a lever action or a pump to my collection. I used to own a Marlin 39a which I liked, but I decided to pursue a pump. I shot a Henry pump that was really nice, but I remembered the .22 pump that I shot at the Hamilton County Fair as a kid: a Winchester 62a. After a lot of searching, I found a 1958 model in VA that is near mint and I picked it up today. Haven't shot it yet, but I can hardly wait! Just wanted to share a look with you!

  2. I wanted to post a follow-up to a casting question I had late last year. I was looking into getting into casting and had a member here, @RedlegEd, respond and offer to show me the ropes. Ed had me over two times, once to check out his casting setup and another time to let me cast and powder coat before i invested in my own equipment. I had a great time and can't thank Ed enough for his help and guidance. I enjoyed it enough to invest in a Lee 4-20 pot, a 9mm mould, some lead and powder coat. I was recently was able to get it all setup and use it all for the first time to cast a couple hundred projectiles and powder coat them all. Here are some pictures of all I was able to accomplish. I wanted to give Ed a big shout out here for all his help and patience.

  3. Replaced last two roofs on last two houses with metal, I'd never go back to shingles (JMHO). I like working with a bare canvas, so I'd option to remove the old shingles, like Raoul said make sure the sheeting is good. Waiting for estimates to restain our house, same boat as you, different part of the house. LOL. All it takes is $$.

  4. Back to Op's question, I hear a lot of people ask how much is your time worth etc. I look at reloading as a hobby that feeds another hobby. If one doesn't shoot much then reloading probably isn't for you. If you can purchase the ammo you require at a price you are willing to pay, then don't bother. If you shoot any of the sports USPSA, IDPA etc. it will probably pay off as you will have plenty of practice ammo, you can tune a load for your gun for a particular sport. You will always have enough ammo for your needs. However it does take an investment in time and money. One has to be focused on the task at hand and pretty much be a perfectionist. It sure is nice though if you are going to shoot a match or go hunting in a day or so and look at your inventory and say, "I need to load 20 rounds of caliber of choice, or I need 400 rounds of .40 S&W, you have the tools and patience to get this job done. Can you save money, yes, but you have to buy in bulk, and can't count your time. I don't know any home gardeners making $$ while cutting their grass btw. And the feeling of satisfaction of shooting a deer or turkey or a match with your homemade ammo.

  6. 4Freedom: you might try looking into IT contractors. My older son has and is currently working for one. They work at various places under contract doing all sorts of IT stuff. My son was working at a Cummins turbo factory where everything from machines to inventory and shipping were all computer controlled. The factory where he was working got shut down by the virus. But he still has a job and is getting paid. His bosses tell him that as soon as they get another opening, he'll go back to work. Although it might be at a totally different place. A good contractor has openings in a wide range of skills. I'm sure the right one could find a place that fits your particular talents. BTW: check into state dept of education classes. They are low cost and readily available. My son has updated/ upgraded several of his computer certificates by taking night classes.

  7. Most places allow 2 layers as per building code. I'd just be sure the existing plywood sheeting is all in good shape.

  8. https://www.wmcactionnews5.com/2020/04/02/gov-reeves-reveals-why-gun-stores-are-considered-essential-business-miss/ JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - In a press conference Thursday, Gov. Reeves explained why he has classified gun stores as essential businesses in the state of Mississippi. “I think when you see what’s going in the entire country, the fact that we have a constitutional right, a second amendment right to bear arms, most every governor, republican and democrat alike, have worked to keep those shops open,” Gov. Reeves said. He would continue, saying that he has seen the number of firearms being sold go up significantly in the month of March. In fact, Americans purchased two million guns last month alone, the second highest month for gun sales ever, according to The New York Times. Retailers say the buying frenzy is fueled by those who are worried that people will becoming increasingly desperate and unpredictable in the midst of the pandemic. While gun stores shall remain open, Reeves said he hopes the owners of the stores will heed the call and abide by social distancing guidelines.

  12. What jobs will you entertain on a site like Upwork? What are your current skills? I would create a current LinkedIn profile. I don't like saying that - but having that with a 'hirable' check is going to put you in front of a lot more people. I'd also sign up for their weekly job posting email. That'll at least have current leads. Same with Github. Get a current profile with "for hire" checked and see if you can't put some work out there - even if it's just a part of projects you're using to study right now. I might consider a Pluralsight subscription or similar to fill in gaps in what you know. Likewise Wes Bos has some great video courses on modern web stack type stuff. Keep your head up. Happy to chat anytime if it's helpful.

  13. I've got one of the early Rossi copies. Great little rifle! That rifle, a brick of ammo and a set of spinners make for a fun day.

  16. Do you have a Smart TV? If you do, you don’t need a tablet unless you just want it to be portable. You aren’t looking for a tablet that has a phone line assigned to it, correct? All you need is either WiFi, or an ethernet connection to watch TV on a tablet or computer. EDIT: After looking it appears you can't use "WATCH TV" on a smart TV. (Who would have thought you might want to use it on a TV? ) So I assume this is just something you have in addition to your AT&T TV? Its also limited in what tablets and operating systems you can use. You better check before you buy anything.

  20. I almost got talked into a tablet for ,99¢ from the AT&T store but after hearing I would have to add an additional line and pay $10 extra a month I passed. It would probably be better to get one outright from Bestbuy, Amazon, etc then deal with the phone companies. They are sneaky like that..

  21. There are a lot of people at home, pizzed off and armed. Probably not a good time to start a new career as a burglar or home invader. But then, criminals have never been accused of being smart.

  23. Stormtroopers are the elite Marines of the Galactic Empire. You would have to be crazy not to use extreme caution when approaching one. Darth Vader could have very well been somewhere in the area, which would have been a disaster.
