And we apparently keep forgetting the TN state Constitution reads in Article 1 Section 26. That the citizens of this state have a right to keep and to bear arms for their common defense; but the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms with a view to prevent crime. So even if we want to argue that the federal Constitution allows no infringements or impediments to any and all carry of any and all weapons (which is shaky legal and historical ground) , the TN State Constitution clearly reserves the right of the legislature to regulate the wearing of arms in the state of Tennessee. Frankly I'd like to see the "enhanced permit" have the added value of eliminating the force of law from the signage. ANY business would still be able to ask you to leave if they so choose. But if you have the "enhanced permit" the signs then would not get you in legal trouble.3 points

I have a little plastic tool expressly purpose built for changing blades. If yours uses the piranta style blades, this is likely exactly what you need. https://www.havalon.com/blade-remover-4-pk-in-clam2 points

I’ve used both the Leupold VX-2 and VX-R in 1.5-4x with their Pig Plex reticle, and have been quite pleased. Neither were terribly expensive, and they’ve performed well and held up great. The VX-R is on a Ruger No.1 in 45-70, and is the combination makes for what is probably my favorite field gun.2 points

Funny enough, that "Cheap" gun really is a cheap gun. It's a Savage FV-SR in a Boyds stock that I finished and put in the cheek riser. I found the unfinished stock on sale for something like $80 so I just made it my own so to speak. You can put this gun together for less around $450 now and add a scope. I have a buddy that just bought one and ordered a Boyds At-One stock to put it in. It makes a nice combination. That being said, it's a Savage which means two things. One, it will probably be pretty accurate, but two it is an unrefined, ugly action. The trigger will be decent for what it is. I love CZ's, but wouldn't pay that kind of money for any 457. They made some improvements to them, but they are now also single lug actions. I think a 452/453 is a better choice, but harder to find. For the 1k price, I would probably be looking for a nice condition older Anschutz. Even a 64 action (vs the better 54) will still shoot great. You can find something like a 64 MPR which is a nice mix between sporter and BR that will work well off a bag. A 1416 D HB would be a good sporter type rifle. Fit and finish will be way better than either CZ or Savage. They can both be found used for about a 20% discount. Champions Choice in Lavergne has them both new if you want to just buy one new. Nice thing is you could go look at them and see if one has better would than another. They are closed right now because of COVID, but I would think they will be open soon. Downside is you would have to pay tax. For reference, each is linked below. http://champchoice.com/store/Main.aspx?p=ItemDetailOptions&item=009980 http://champchoice.com/store/Main.aspx?p=ItemDetailOptions&item=009977 Here is a 1416 for sale of RFC. I would want to see some more pictures, but gives you an idea of what they go for used. https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/vbclassified.php?do=ad&id=2506132 points

I'm used to everyone else but me getting a handout. I've been self employed almost 30 years. That I'm getting a 1200 stimulus check is surprising. I'm sure my taxes will increase sooner than later to pay the tab.2 points

It's arguably superior to both. It will kill pretty much anything a .308 will with less recoil and a flatter trajectory, especially past 500 yards. It is not more accurate, but is easier to shoot accurately at extended range because it remains supersonic another 500-600 yards after the .308 has gone sub. It was designed to duplicate the trajectory of the .300 Win Mag without rearranging the shooter's spine. It succeeded and the military took note. Go to a long range shooting match that doesn't require 5.56 or .308 and you will see plenty of 6.5s. Go to the Bass Pro ammo section and you might find about as many 6.5 CM SKUs as you will .308. It's not just another fad or designer cartridge and it has already taken a chunk of the .308's market share. The 6.5 CM is here to stay.1 point

A better sense toward the end of the month I'd posit; infection to symptoms can be as much as 12 days, then on rough average another few days for those sick enough to be hospitalized, then another week or more for those to either recover or die. - OS1 point

Got this one last Saturday, he didn't gobble a bit. I seen him working a oak flat and slipped ahead of him. Waited for over a hr before he got into shooting range. It's been the toughest season I've had in awhile. These public landmountain birds haven't gobbled worth a flip this year. Opening of the season they was gobbling good but after that cold snap and rain it shut them up. 46.5in Length 22lb 11in Beard 1.375 Spurs1 point

My biggest fear right now is that with a re-opening that there will be a sudden surge in the virus and we'll have to start all over again from scratch. I think I'll stay hunkered down for a while and see what happens.1 point

For me, especially with these SMG and LMGs that is something that doesn't really bother me much. I like having my own personal museum that I can go and pick something up and fondle it, just to own it is exciting for me!1 point

Well after writing the review, I decided to just go ahead and order Indian Country from Amazon. I also discovered that the 4th book is out. Its titled "Collapse". Both are on their way. BTW: also ordered the latest of James Rollin's Sigma Force series as well. Another outstanding series of techno-thrillers that blend action, science and history exceedingly well into great reading.1 point

Not long ago I was gifted books #1 Peoples Republic & #3 Wildfire of the Kelly Turnbull series by Kurt Schlichter. Very interesting books. Its a different kind of SHTF story. Here the premise is that in the near future the United States experiences a civil war. Its conservatives vs liberals. When the fighting ends, the U.S. is split into two separate countries. Most of the central and southern parts are still the United States of America. The northeast down to the Caroilinas and across to Illinois along with the entire west coast are the newly formed People's Republic. The PR is a socialist and ultra liberal nation. The stories take place about 10 years after the war. Life in the U.S is pretty much the same. However, the PR is falling apart. Socialist practices, ultra liberalism and a massively corrupt government has taken a huge toll. The wealthy and connected live luxurious and privileged lives behind walls, gates and armed guards. The middle class pretty much doesn't exist anymore. The majority of the PR's citizens are dirt poor, live in squaller and struggle just to get enough to eat. The police are little more than armed thugs. Their primary duty is to ensure order by force and protect the upper class.. They are free to victimize, terrorize and even murder the average citizens at will. Ultra political correctness is the order of the day. One wrong off the cuff remark can get you sent to a re-education camp. From which few ever return. The protagonist is Kelly Turnbull. U.S. Army Socom operator now retired and living in Texas. He spent much of the war behind enemy lines training and organizing resistance fighters. He understands what it takes to survive in the PR. He now makes his living by infiltrating the PR and rescuing friends and family of wealthy Americans who got trapped behind enemy lines. He also does occasional odd jobs for the CIA. He is a professional soldier through and through and his services don't come cheap. The stories are action packed and fast paced. Its the presentation of the PR itself that's absolutely mind boggling. While some of it may seem to go overboard, its a fascinating view of what just might happen in an ultra-liberal country. Once the book stores open back up, I'll go looking for book #2 Indian Country. This is reportedly a prequel covering Turnbull's service during the war. A fourth book is on the way.1 point

You’ve got a problem that a survey is unlikely to solve. THIS. It's apparent they don't care what you bought, you're an interloper. it would also be worth asking if a survey could be contracted for with the County. Don't waste your time. The county doesn't get involved in this type of issue and the will not do a survey for you. My wife works for a title company in Knoxville and says that she believes the title insurance doesn't apply to the property, just the home. Title insurance involves the real estate which it the land and improvements. The first guy you’ll want to talk to is probably the sheriff. This. Establish yourself as the victim from the legal aspect. FWIW I'm an old real estate appraiser and I've seen this before. You done bought yourself into a nest of family. Good luck and carry concealed.1 point

I think where people are taking their dumps might have something to do with it as well. Think of all those people who did their business at work who are now doing it at home, or kids formerly at school, or any others that choose to use public facilities. Those are all sources of TP that often come from something other than the regular retail supply chain. Now, more folks are having to buy their own, or at least more of it, from regular stores.1 point

Well, I hadn't been inside of a building other than my own digs for 41 days until yesterday. I could have gone another 2 or 3 weeks and still have been eating pretty well but I was out of lots of favs, fresh veggies, munchies, and whatnot. But I mainly went ahead on a stock up because I'm thinking things may again get quite "interesting" toward the end of May and beyond. I hit the Tuesday Morning Geezer Session at Sam's. I doubt there were more than 30 of us in the entire store, makes ya feel kinda special in an eerie way. Pretty amazing what they have and what they don't. As expected, meat was only about 1/3 of normal stock, with a one per on lots of meat items. But still plenty enough meat variety to stock up the freezer again, albeit at higher prices. But some stuff still MIA, like paper towels and toilet paper, pretty much expected, seems they get stocks on the mega bundles every few days, which apparently lasts a couple hours. Other absences a bit more mysterious, like butter of all things, birdseed, and whatnot. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE was masked. So I braved Wally's next door mainly for inferior birdseed, a few fishing tackle items (been walking down to the river some to wet a line since the shootin range has been closed), and did a quick tour through the food section. Amazingly well stocked, it seemed to me. picked up some unfulfilled items on the list. Again, I don't recall seeing ANYbody not wearing a mask. Then later in the day, my third trip, to Kroger to pick up remaining needs, mostly fresh veggies/fruit, canned goods, and cheap dopes. Pretty crowded for a Tuesday (was about noon by then), but what surprised me was that about a fourth of the crowd was NOT masked. So, anyway, I'm prepared to re-sequester for at least 60 days if it seems prudent, we'll see. You'll note that nationwide, the confirmed infections are still on the increase, and Monday was the highest death day yet. TN had 248/13 btw. So we'll see what the first 30 days of "reopening" does around the country, and of course especially here in Tennersee. - OS1 point

Perhaps that is exactly what it was designed to do. Remember, these places have been sitting on major stockpiles of cheap guns and ammo, ever since Trump beat the pants suit off Hillary over 3 years ago. I can't think of a better way to move it all.... And at a tidy profit as well.1 point

I agree and have been in agreement! We don't have to like it but again Capitalism is one of the pillar's of this fine country so to say it shouldn't be allowed or whatever is kinda like smacking Lady Liberty in the face. Like most things people like to conveniently forget you gotta take the good and the bad even if it does apply to guns and ammo.1 point
