  1. We have done this a couple of times in the past. Since the increase in traffic at TGO since Covid-19 I thought it was a good time to bring it back. I am donating Qty 10 6 month benefactor memberships. The rules are as follows: 1) you mush have been a member at least 1 month prior to this post 2) you need to have at least 10 posts. 3) you can't currently be a benefactor. Thats it. If you meet these requirements then post in this thread that you want to be included in the drawing. I will keep this open through the weekend. Sunday evening or Monday morning I will take all the names and put them into a randomizer and select 10 users for the membership. The hope is that after your membership is up that you will renew and continue to support this site financially.

  2. Good to see some other WP's on here. I subscribed a few days ago after he announced it. For me it was a no-brainer. First, John has an actual chance of providing an alternative to YouTube for 2A content with this model of being "crowd funded". Second, when I try to struggle through content from knowledgeable people like Sean Ryan and have to count the F-Bombs, I'm really glad to support a guy who doesn't use that word like a comma.

  3. Funny story... a friend of mine is friends with John. I have John's cell phone number in my phone, but I've not called him yet to arrange it. Maybe one of these days soon. I tend to want to ask these folks questions they haven't heard elsewhere... and I'm just not sure what I want to ask him.

  4. I came across him about a year ago and noticed something different about him from the start. With me being a Christian, I was drawn to him from that perspective. Liked his video content (both tactical and family), and his "real world" tactical veteran experience. There are only two internet based "groups" I support financially, WPS and TGO. Both are truly special groups in my opinion. Hat's off to you TGO David and the group of mods that keep this site a great gun forum. @TGO David An interview with him on the Shooter's Nation podcast would be neat.

  7. I'd suggest a bolt gun, it'll make you slow down. I find I tend to just bang away with a semi-auto and don't really focus on the fundamentals.

  8. Indeed. The thing is, there is no “one” .22 rifle. There is also nothing more fun to shoot. There is no shortage of them in all flavors. Semi, bolt, pump, lever, tube fed, mag fed, etc., and endless sources to acquire them. You might be able to find some 70 year old beater for less than two bills that will outshoot anything made today.

  9. I've got about 350 rounds downrange with the Masada as of today. Basics: 2 x 17 round magazines, with remarkably stiff springs. Comes with 2 backstraps (small and large), and optic mounting kit with 4 RDS-specific spacer plates and appropriate screws. The optic cut cover and all the mounting plates are plastic. The RDS plates included are for: Deltapoint, RMR, Venom, and Romeo 1. Trigger pull is 4 lbs, about 4.5mm worth of takeup and another 4mm of smooth, non-stacking creep. Ambi mag release and ambi slide release. Steel 3-dot sights. Handling and shooting impressions: Good hand feel for me, I left the large backstrap installed. Trigger has a great pull, but trigger slap does occur on mine. Out of the box, shooting a few mags of mildly hot 9mm earns you a stinging trigger finger. After mounting a RDS, the trigger slap was softened and all but unnoticeable. The Glock-type safety dingus isn't really a problem. I'd put about 100 rounds through it before I installed the Vortex Venom RDS, and the trigger slap was unpleasant enough that I was considering getting rid of the gun. After installing the RDS and putting 250 more rounds through it with considerably tamed trigger slap, I feel like it was built and intended for RDS use exclusively. Sights are very much a "combat hold" setup, where the POI is about where the white dot on the front sight is. I was using a 6'oclock hold at about 10 yards and my group was about 1.5"-2" below the 1" dot that I was resting atop my front sight. Accuracy was about average for your typical $400 polymer combat pistol, about on par with my S&W M&P 1.0s, at least while shooting irons. The rear sight notch is a bit too wide for me, so that likely contributed. With the RDS, accuracy seemed to tighten up to the point I had no complaints. Reloads were not as fast as I'd have liked. The front of the magazine extends up into a "tab" that is prone to catch on the frontstrap side of the mag opening. The mag opening has a pretty good bevel on the rear but not on the sides or front, which are thin; and the recessed area on both sides doesn't do you any favors, either. The mag release button is a bit small and requires me to twist the gun just a bit to hit it reliably, but since this is an ambi mag button, I may just work on hitting it with my trigger finger instead. At least the mags eject briskly. Slide release is large and easy to hit but not big enough to be in the way. The gun doesn't seem all that fat, but the only holster it would fit in is the one for my Steyr M9, which, along with the Beretta APX, has the fattest slide of any gun I own. Fortunately, the Steyr, APX, and Masada all fit very nicely into the same holster, so that what I'll use. Reliability was 100% with my ammo, which are 115 gr coated lead reloads running about 1200 FPS. Summary: An exceptional value at a little over $400. Trigger slap is something to watch out for, maybe it was just my gun, but installing a RDS made that a non-issue. Due to its magwell, mag changes are a little slow. Accuracy and reliability earn an "A" for me. Sights adequate but not optimal.

  10. What have I found lacking in planning? A lot. No one expected the government to shut down society and the economy. This situation has gotten 100% out of hand. What’s going to happen the next time a new strain of flu or some other unknown virus comes along? The only sure thing is it will happen again.

  28. The really annoying thing about AOC is she as often as not identifies a real problem. It's the solutions she proposes that go off the rails. Of course minorities are at higher risk and infection rates for COVID-19. As a demographic, they're more likely to be in jobs that can't be done from home which increases their exposure to the virus. They also as a group have lesser health overall from lack of access to quality healthcare because they may or may not have benefits; often having to defer medical treatment that isn't an emergency anyway because of cost whether even when they have insurance. I'm not trying to start a big thing, but I think we can all realize that by whatever reasons, minorities are at greater risk, and not belittle that fact, even if it came from an imperfect messenger.

  32. John Lovell said something in one of his most recent videos about this. It struck home. I've thought about this before but never had the right words for it and I think he nails it. "I didn't prepare enough to be generous."

  33. 64% of the country lives paycheck to paycheck. Regardless of income level also. I know several people that make 100k a year and are paycheck to paycheck. I hope this is a wakeup call for many. If you add in how many have only 1-3 months of savings that number will scare you.

  34. "Glock 45 in 9mm". Seriously? Who was the non-genius in Glock's marketing department who decided on THAT model number for their latest 9mm? Talk about confusing people. "Hey you want to see my new Glock 45?" "Sure! So is it the new model 36 or a 21?" "No, it's a 45." "OK. But which 45 is it?" "It's not a .45, it's a 9mm." "Dude. This is just insane. Don't you know which Glock you got?"

  38. I don't know what I would have done. I would imagine freeze at first and then try to get the others out of the building. After that, I don't know. I don't carry so blowing the guy away would not have been a option for me. For those that want to go all "dirty Harry" on the guy, I'm going to leave this right here for you. vigilante a person who tries in an unofficial way to prevent crime, or to catch and punish someone who has committed a crime, especially because they do not think that official organizations, such as the police, are controlling crime effectively. Vigilantes usually join together to form groups. Good luck with the outcome of your trial for those that would.

  39. Ok, truth: Tupperware referred to the box they used to come in. Nothing wrong with a Honda. 7 rounds at at time would require 7 barrels and 7 hammers. Also truth: some old timers hate change.

  40. My wife witnessed a gentleman at Weigel's the other morning had on mask, gloves and making a big effort about staying away 6 feet. He does all this and she said he got a coffee, went over to the soda fountain and got ice in his "gloved hands" and put it in his coffee. Yes he had touched everything with his gloves, maybe they had time released sanitizer. LMAO
