  1. ...and my apartment finally has power restored. Thankful for the hard work by the electrical crews to bring it back after all the devastation in the area. Also realize others aren't yet to this level and keeping them in my thoughts.

  2. Adding my Sig to the list. I replaced my EDC Shield 9 with a Sig P365XL. I love it. In addition to the 12+1 capacity, I chose the P365XL for the RedDot capability. After waiting (and waiting and waiting) for Sig to release more Romeo Zero optics, I went with the Shied SMSc. it installed easily, 4MOA, can’t wait to dial it in. It looks like the built in rear sight will co-witness with the Sig front sight. I will check that at the range. I still have orders for a Romeo Zero, and a Holosun HS507K with OpticsPlanet. Since neither are scheduled to ship for over a month, I figure I can wait to cancel the orders Unfortunately the holster I use was not designed for a RD Optic installed. I had to use my dremel to modify the shape and I had to move on of the screws to a new location. It worked out great. (The other holes were drilled to try and install the Kydex on a Ventcore backing).

  3. I have the version you are asking about. Love it. I installed a Sig Romeo 5 red dot and really like the setup. Easy to use the red dot or the iron sights that come on it. Very accurate and fun to shoot. I'm using several Magpul Glock compatible magazines without a glitch.

  6. The PC carbine is one I am really satisfied with. I owned the original PC9 and found it lacking in several areas, like trigger, sights, and magazine (only took Ruger mags), so I sold it after a few years. They really put on their thinking caps with this one. The takedown feature is extremely convenient, the trigger is superb out of the box, the use of 10/22 fire control was genius, the integrated optic rail and user-configurable mag well are welcome innovations. Ambi mag catch and ambi charging handle too, plus threaded and fluted barrel. It also feels very solid and beefy compared to something like the Keltec Sub-2000, which feels like a Nerf gun by comparison and is far behind the Ruger on usability features. Some complain about the heavy Ruger stock but I see Magpul is now getting into the game, and more stocks and forearm choices are proliferating.

  7. I've had several, all in .40. They are well made, accurate and reliable, not to mention iconic and innovative. They are one of the easier service pistols to work on. However, they can suffer from a trigger issue where the double action pull does not adequately catch and pull the striker back all the way. I think part of it is that the striker corner gets rounded off by the trigger bar, so it's something you will tend to see in pistols that have seen a fair amount of use. 2 of my 3 P99s have had this problem. It isn't something that will interfere with normal use of the gun, since the only way to use the DA pull is to decock the cocked striker. If you're just loading mags and shooting in SA mode, it's not something you might ever notice. Later models had an adjustable trigger bar guide which can fix this problem, but mine have all been earlier ones with a fixed trigger bar guide. Parts for the P99 are getting hard to come by, so you're pretty much at the mercy of whatever Walther agrees to do to fix your gun. I think the right way to fix this issue is to replace the striker, but they seem to be unobtainable on the current market. Unless you really just want a P99 for some reason, I strongly suggest going with the PPQ instead, which I prefer over the P99 due to ergonomic reasons. The two things the PPQ needs are a stronger mag catch spring and a lighter recoil spring. The mag catch spring can be replaced with a Wolff 1911 plunger spring, and a couple of aftermarket outfits sell a lighter PPQ recoil spring which will tend to tame the excessive muzzle flip on these guns.

  8. Zach Bryan dropped this on YouTube today. This kid can write a a helluva song. Right now his music career consists of him recording these songs live and dropping them on YouTube. He’s actually active duty Navy still and music isn’t a full time gig for him yet. I strongly suspect that one of these days he’s going to be a very big deal.

  9. I live about 15 minutes from this auction site and have been there numerous times to inspect stuff. The long guns are out on racks and you can freely pick them up and inspect them to your heart’s content and even take photos if you wish. The handguns are in glass cases but there is someone there to get them out for you to inspect, just like a gun store.

  10. The site sounds like they have regular auctions, most bigger. Says there is a viewing time, has anyone ever showed up and looked at the guns you wanted to bid on? Wondered how accessible they were for inspection. I'm about 2 hours away but would drive over if they had something I was really interested in, of course if you were successful it would be another trip to pickup. Where we moved from in NY I use to go to a live gun auction that was held 5 or 6 times a year about an hour away. They were an FFL so long guns you could take home with you but hand guns, because of NY's laws, we had to pay for then get it added to our permit then go back to pick it up usually 2 weeks later. A pain but sometimes had good deals. You could do hands on inspections for a couple of hours before the auction started. Bought several guns from them. Learned quickly to do the research ahead of time and make a list of what I was interested in with the top bid plus buyers fee that was still a good deal. First gun I bought was a new G19, I didn't do the list and got caught up in the bidding, still got ok deal but only saved about $10 over the local gun store and had to make the second hour long drive to pick it up instead of 15 minutes to my local dealer.

  11. After nearly two years of waiting my customer Cumberland Valley rifle is finished and I am loving it. My Gr gr gr grandfather settled in Mid TN around 1801 and in an area where some prolific rifle makers of that genre (ie. Thomas Simpson, Jacob Young, etc.) were in their heyday. I wanted a rifle that would be as close to "possibly" what he would have owned on the TN frontier of the first third of the 19th century. Posting a picture below but it is a .40 caliber flintlock with a 48 inch barrel. It has a 14.75" length of pull so it is a long rifle. Fits me pretty well, though as I am 6' 6". The stock is curly maple and really pops in the sunlight. I would have posted more photos but I hit my size max with the one below. thanks,

  13. A few thoughts: FN FAL - has seen more combat than any other 7.62NATO rifle. Gas can be adjusted to work reliably with whatever ammo is available. Rugged, reliable, decent ergonomics and handling. Sights are not precision, but adequate for normal combat roles. Easy takedown and maintenance. Parts and mags are reasonable. M14/M1A - excellent sights, decent ergonomics and handling. Prices are a bit high for rifles, parts, and good mags compared to other choices. Likes good quality NATO spec ammo. Can be finicky with other ammo. Get a non-wood stock so humidity changes don't affect POI. G3/Cetme/HK91 - reliable and accurate. Adequate sights HK style is better than Cetme. Very reasonable parts and mags. Ergonomics and handling of a 2x4. Likes hard brass, soft brass tends to stick in the chamber. Very inexpensive parts and mags. BM59 - a good alternative to the M1A. Rifles and parts are reasonable right now from Classic Arms. Mags are a bit pricey but VERY well made. Likes NATO spec ammo, but users report good results with heavier bullets too. Get one with the tri-compensator. Nothing else has a decent combat history except the original 1960's AR10. Those are very pricey and spare parts are almost non-existent. FYI, a very nice Portuguese model just sold at auction for $9000! Handle, and if possible, shoot, several to narrow down your choices. All of the above have worked well under combat conditions.
