  1. Life is really short. if it brings you joy, trade the guns. They say you can’t buy happiness, but I bet the guy who said that never bought a jet ski. Or was the only guy on the lake on a glassy morning as the fog lifts. Or pulled kids from dawn to dusk on tubes with their friends. Or set out and watched land disappear over the horizon. Or whatever. Have fun.

  2. ...and my apartment finally has power restored. Thankful for the hard work by the electrical crews to bring it back after all the devastation in the area. Also realize others aren't yet to this level and keeping them in my thoughts.

  9. As stated already Life is Short! If you enjoy fishing and need to sell/trade a few guns to enjoy then why wouldn't you. It's sounds like you would still have plenty of guns left. You stated you were wanting to leave your guns to grandkids, maybe memories of fishing with you would mean as much or more to them than the guns. I know my time with my granddad on the lake is/was priceless. The Savage 22 lr bolt action he gave me is also priceless. It's actually the most valued gun in my collection. We all need to enjoy life more and worry less. In the end we are not taking any of these things with us. Best we enjoy our time while we can.

  10. Zach Bryan dropped this on YouTube today. This kid can write a a helluva song. Right now his music career consists of him recording these songs live and dropping them on YouTube. He’s actually active duty Navy still and music isn’t a full time gig for him yet. I strongly suspect that one of these days he’s going to be a very big deal.

  11. Google has educated me. I first thought it strange that the Finnish army would use a Galil. But it seems that's an likely RK62 (which I'd never heard of) on which the Galil is based. Interesting.

  13. Actually, that is just the number of permits issued in Shelby in 2019. The total of permit holders there is 71,078. Still far past second place Knox which has 39,895.

  14. Many years ago as a much younger man, I went the opposite way. I traded a boat for some nice guns. I definately got the better end of that deal.

  16. No don't remember about the rifle KharMan, threw away my bidding order list with the prices wrote down when leaving the auction, from 9 am to a little after four pm when I left, long day. The Remington-Rand 1911 a1 brought $1540. Was interested in the Rossi 22 pump{$363}, S&W 640 {$495} but did not bid on them. Have one of the Rossi's in 17 HMR which was bought for a tractor gun for coyotes but less than a box of shells through it. The ss models are hard to find. Had a lot of lever 30-30 guns. Lots of old ammo in boxes sold high. The 410 double brls all sold high.

  17. I think it will be basically car carry, letting you take it with you. Not enough police out there to increase contact, except for traffic stops I have not had an officer contact in 20 years. If you are not acting like a thug I don't expect LE to be manhandling common folk going about their business armed.

  19. On March 8, 1971, Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier meet for the “Fight of the Century” at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The bout marked Ali’s return to the marquee three-and-a-half years after boxing commissions revoked his license over his refusal to fight in the Vietnam War. It was also Ali’s first chance to win back the heavyweight championship, which had been stripped by the WBA (World Boxing Association). Both Ali and Frazier were undefeated and had won Olympic gold medals and multiple Golden Gloves championships, but their personalities were vastly different. Ali was a showboat, and his mastery of the media, his improvisational poetry during interviews and his debonair good looks separated him from every other fighter, and every other athlete, of his generation. Much to his opponent’s dismay, Ali successfully painted the less popular and more reserved Frazier as an “Uncle Tom” and an instrument of the establishment. Leading up to the fight, the national press fawned over Ali, heralding “the hero’s return.” Ali played right along, while doing his best to knock Frazier off his game through mental intimidation. He even went so far as to repeatedly call Frazier a “gorilla.” On the night of the fight, celebrities filled Madison Square Garden. Miles Davis was resplendent in a red suit. Frank Sinatra sat ringside, photographing the fight for a Life magazine article. It was said that billions of people were following the fight in person, on TV or on the radio, and most of them were cheering for Ali. The fight lived up to the hype. Ali initially landed more punches, gliding about the ring as light on his feet as he was in the prime of his career. Frazier’s punches, however, seemed to have more impact. By the eighth round, Frazier was leading six rounds to two with each judge. In the 11th round, Ali staggered but fought back, forcing the action into the 12th and 13th rounds. The fight was already decided by the 15th, when Frazier landed a left hook to Ali’s right chin, knocking down the champ for just the third time in his illustrious career. Ali got up, but Frazier won the fight by unanimous decision, retaining his title and delivering Ali the first loss of his career. The two fighters would fight twice more, in 1974 and 1975, with Ali winning both fights. The rivalry was so intense that, 20 years after their final fight, when Ali carried the torch and lit the ceremonial flame at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Frazier said, “If I had the chance, I would have pushed him in.”

  21. Seriously, getting rid of something you don’t use in favor of something you would use makes sense.

  22. If you have a significant collection with several of the same model, do it. If you have two guns to your name, no way. Some guns may appreciate in value, but many won't. The bottom line is if you will use the boat more than the guns collecting dust in your safe, go for it. Turn something you don't use into something that you will enjoy.

  23. I live about 15 minutes from this auction site and have been there numerous times to inspect stuff. The long guns are out on racks and you can freely pick them up and inspect them to your heart’s content and even take photos if you wish. The handguns are in glass cases but there is someone there to get them out for you to inspect, just like a gun store.

  24. No. My reasons: boats only work in water. Water has sharks and other nasty creatures that consider you lunch. Don't go near water, therefore there's no need for a boat ...

  25. I think that’s a question only you can answer. What would you get more enjoyment out of? Boats and guns do seem to share one similarity in that neither gets used as much as folks think they will when they get them and tend to spend a lot of time gathering dust.

  27. She was the deputy DA under and protege of Bill Gibbons. You might want to take that into account before you start taking guesses. Y’all need to stop letting that R next to somebody’s name fool you into believing that they are a freedom loving believer in individual rights. It ain’t the case most of the time. For the most part it doesn’t matter what letter is next to somebody’s name. Those folks in Memphis, Nashville, and Washington DC believe that they know better than you do how to run your life. Amy Weirich is a Republican, but that doesn’t mean she believes in or supports your individual rights. At least not without a government permission slip.

  30. "Without permits, officers won’t be able to differentiate between someone who can legally carry a gun and someone who can’t, Weirich said" If only officers had some handy device where they could punch in information and it tell them if you were a felon or not....
