My wife told me, many years ago, " I will never allow myself to think of being with someone else, like I am with you." That one statement helped keep me from doing something stupid. We are celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary today. Daughter called last evening and told us to be ready to go, somewhere, at 3 this afternoon, and they would be here to pick us up. Don't know how this sweet lady put up with me for this long, because at times I didn't deserve it. However, I like it, I love it, and I want some more of it! Edited to add advice to younger men; Treat her well because you are going to be old someday, then you will really NEED her to be nice to you. The Bible tells man that happiness, in the home, is the man's responsibility. And yes guys, that means you need to take out the trash. Do your part.11 points

Just joined TGO after reading article in local paper on a meeting I didn't even know happened concerning making Benton Co. a Gun Sanctuary. Heart broken that I missed the meeting as I STRONGLY support this. Was unaware of TGO & joined up immediately. I'm a Peace time Marine Corp veteran 85-89. Born in S. Florida & escaped my home State feeling like the Frankenstein Monster chased by torch wielding Villagers. Too many people swarming into Fla. from everywhere else & immediately start complaining to city/county government that Florida wasn't exactly like where ever they came from. Been a Proud Tennesseeyun going on 12 years now & plan to die here. Never felt more at home in spite of being a bit of an introvert & not fitting in anywhere. Strongly believe that our First & Second Amendment rights are under attack from the very same garbage who want Transsexuals reading stories to our Kindergarten age kids & if we let them take either, than America will be lost forever. I'm basically a right of center (closed borders) Libertarian politically. I'm not a Church goer but, I AM a Christian & know for a FACT that Prayer has changed my life for the better. I love a good Cheese Burger if it's real meat & NOT processed food like product, Chicken wings & sometimes a fermented beverage or two but, never more than 4. Hope to eventually meet some like minded Patriots for friendship & non-violent activism in the Defense of our Constitutional Republic which (IMO) has never been in more desperate need of defending. My name is Eli. I am planning to move to the North-Eastern TN area (Tri-city or Greenville or thereabout) and am interested in the competitive shooting sports. I shoot USPSA, IDPA,, ICORE and 3-Gun. Where would I be able to do so in the Eastern TN area. I plan to be down in the area later this summer and would love to participate in one of the matches.1 point

I use to road race and run some track days, so when I ran across this, I was pretty excited to see some possibilities that are closer / easier to get to. https://www.roadracingworld.com/news/new-road-course-being-proposed-in-oak-ridge-tennessee/ What do you local folks think of putting a track there. Seems far enough out and not too close to some higher rent districts to the south?1 point

Thanks. I'll be looking to try something else. Wife just doesn't appreciate the aroma of Hoppe's 9 in the mornings.1 point

Our daughter called and told us they were taking us out to dinner. Came and picked us up and we left and my son in law said he wanted to stop and get a car part. We pulled into a big building and SURPRISE, 70 of our friends were there to party us down. All 4 of our daughters, two from 10 hrs away, were there with their families and all of us were there except for one grandson who burned his foot badly and could not make the trip. Those traveling are here at our home tonight and we had a totally great day. I never had a clue. My girls really made the day special for us. I know it took a lot of work, money and time. The day could not have been any better. So glad to have all our girls under our roof tonight. I will get up early, in the morning, and make them a breakfast to die for. Country Ham, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, and eggs. Nothing is too good for our girls and their family. I have kissed our baby granddaughter many many times, and I miss her so. She lives in Charleston SC and we only get to see her(7 Y O) and her brother (11 y o) 3 or 4 times during the year. I showed Parker the Savage 308 I am going to give him. I also gave him a new Rem 1911R1 which I will take at the same time. He told his dad they were going to need to get a gun safe for their house. I know he will appreciate the guns, and I don't know any old man that truly enjoys giving his guns to grandkids that they know will cherish them as he has in his life time. I am a blessed man for sure! Thanks for all the replies and well wishes.1 point

Save 15% of everything you make and don't touch it until you can't make anymore. "Want" and "need" are not the same thing. Remember that the "Big Picture" is not a self portrait.1 point

Before opening your mouth, always ask yourself these three questions. 1) Does this need to be said? 2)Does this need to be said right now? 3) Does this need to be said right now, by me?1 point

This times 2. The City of Oak Ridge tends to have grandiose ideas yet no business sense or fiscal intelligence. They are a soft target for developers to rip off.1 point

Got mine this past week with the aluminum mag catch. They work great in my 43X so far. No problems. Crazy to have 15+1 total rounds in a small package. Don't know what else to say about them. If you have questions feel free to ask.1 point

Neither of those are big enough for raceday traffic. 231 is only 2 lanes. The access road is only 4 lanes. Check out 411 Speedway, Smoky Mtn Speedway, and Volunteer Speedway. All are good venues.1 point

I regret I didn’t go watch a figure 8 race before they stopped them. I’ll bet that was entertaining.1 point

I grew up at Knoxville Dragway. They finally re-opened the dirt track a few years after we stopped going. Wish I had seen it. Exhause fumes from bored out V8s drinking fully leaded race fuel and burn out smoke... it is any wonder I still have brain cells. A road course could be a nice addition to the area.Takes a bit more skill than turning left.1 point

CMP is definitely the place to start, especially their forum where this question will probably get much more traction, but not all of them went through the CMP and it’s predecessor DCM.1 point

Yeah, that’s wrong too. Those are also brands, not products. The RMR is a Trijicon optic. I’ve been shooting in matches with red dots for about 5 years and I was a late adopter compared to my buddies. I bought and sold 3 with RMRs before falling in love with the Roland Special with a Leupold DPP Pro. If anything, it’s going to be the year of Holosun. They are doing some innovative stuff.1 point

So I actually joined back in December but I thought I should actually introduce myself. Born and raised in Nashville, as was my dad (family from Russellville KY before that). Seen alot of change in 50 years. I like shooting, Land Cruisers, camping, Hockey (not necessarily in that order I found the list after it was recommended as a possible place to sell my Kahr K40 (still for sale, but possibly working a deal). I kept reading other threads and have enjoyed everyone’s thoughts on not only my questions, but other topics. I have met two list members face to face to close sales. Both were just great folks and a pleasure to meet, chat with and deal with. I look forward to more insights, thoughts, opinions, and maybe even some good deals. Thanks1 point

It may be of value to attempt to get a Unique Person Identifier Number. Of course, if they had actually run the social it sounds like that would have solved it as well. Do you have your HCP? It really seems like some either some serious incompetence or a big failure point in the TICS system is at play here. Just further proof that the TICS system shouldn’t exist. We should be using NICS.1 point

Nope, never used the stuff. I use the Lucas gun oil and lucas red and tacky wheel bearing grease1 point
