  1. Its been decades since my dad has shot anything. And I mean anything (last time he went shooting, I wasnt even alive). I actually found out he bought a norinco sks and brought it with him. Turned out, hes a good shot. Turned out, he never cleaned the cosmoline out of the sks. How did I find this out? My ak and ar got covered in brown ####, and I saw it dripping from the sks as he was shooting it (once I noticed the everything being covered in brown). Overall, a good weekend. I think I might get him to get a glock. (He didnt like my 1911 )

  2. Also a measure to keep the trolls out. Believe it or not many anti gun people aren't gainfully employed and spend their time infiltrating groups such as this and then causing disruptions at any live events that the group may hold.

  3. Just wanted to show off my new (made in 1966!) Browning SA-22 complete with original box. I've wanted one for a long time as it is a great lil .22. Just wanted to brag a bit! With special thanks to Garufa for leading me to the serial number page so I could authenticate the year it was made.

  4. I'm gonna be sharing a table with a friend at the Dyersburg Gun Show on Saturday. Not sure about Sunday as we'll have to see how Saturday goes. If you're going, it would be nice to meet some of you fine folks in person. Not sure of our table location yet. Just look for a couple of old guys with a few nice guns and a whole lot of junk. I've got gray hair, a mustache and will be wearing a camo baseball cap. I'm going to print out a small TGO Logo to put somewhere on the table.

  6. I don't put much faith in Facebook as a platform where a 2A entity of any sort can expect to exist without constant fear of the platform being yanked out from under them. There's a reason why TGO still exists. My question about that group in general, though, is what are the members actually doing to accomplish anything? Is it slacktivism where the 99.99% expect the 0.001% to do all of the actual work and won't even bother to call or write their representatives -- let alone actually show up in person, dressed nicely, at a rally or their representatives' offices -- or is it more than that? I've been part of enough Facebook groups for other non-2A things that my opinion of their value has soured greatly. If people can't do "it" on their phone, whatever it is... they just don't. But they'll join your group to "support" you in doing "it" for them... as long as you don't say something that ruffles their feathers. Just keepin' it real. I don't have a whole lot of free time or energy to invest in ineffective social-media circle jerks. Not saying that the group in question is one of those but, without knowing for sure, I am honestly jaded against this sort of thing, from experience.

  8. gregintenn, I think you must be missing the reloading boat... Most, well me, I reload for a hobby. Even with your argument (Min. wage) 350 rounds/hour + $10 (wage) plus 7 boxes of lead, $3.80/box = $36.60 so $5.23 a box... still adds up for me??? But if you don't enjoy reloading, I would pay double if I still wanted to shoot as much as I do...

  9. They can ask whatever they like; they don’t need a law to ask. And the HCP holder can either comply or refuse and leave. They don’t need to be posted to ask someone carrying a gun to leave. They just have to be properly posted for the holder to be cited. In my opinion its better than posting. In checking, they found that the patron was not in compliance with the law; so he was carrying illegally.

  17. I’ve read on the World Wide Web that no one shoots that round anymore. So, it would do you no good to keep that useless ammo. I have a truck, and since you are a good forum member, I would be willing to haul that worthless ammo away for you. Which would make room for you to make a lot more of a better caliber, like 9mm, that you would probably get some use out of. How’s that sound, Brother?

  18. Sorry, but I question someone randomly videoing the sky in the middle of the night 4 hours after the missile attack and just happens to catch the moment when the plane blows.

  19. I started reloading back in the late 60's. partly for economic reasons. Now that idea usually don't hold water, depending on what you're loading ( hard to find stuff, as Greg said ). Now it's just a hobby to pass the time, when I have nothing better to do. Funny thing is, I reloaded up 3K + rds of 40 S&W, when I had lots of brass from our Dept range. Now I have sold the 40, LOL. Still got a cabinet stacked with the stuff. There are others as well. Not complaining, just fact. Still loading 9's just because I can, LOL.........

  20. Iran doesnt surprise me at all, because snakes, well, snakes usually act like snakes. What DOES surprise me is some of the reactions in our media and congress, even on the republican side. Those very public disagreements on both sides of the aisle, but particularly the Republican side, give ammo to our enemies, and Iran is certainly our enemy. Again, its like its ok to kill us thru proxies, but let us kill one of them and its suddenly wrong...

  22. It is a hobby for me, but reloading 218 Bee, 41 Magnum, 257 ROBERTS, etc., seems like a more worthwhile endeavor. I do have 9mm reloading components, and occasionally load them, but not for economic reasons. $9 a box to your door from Palmetto State Armory for 9mm. No labor involved. Just not worth the effort for me; especially since I have never advanced from a single stage press.

  23. That seems to be a universal trait of all dads. My dad always bought for me, and I always buy for my kids.

  24. I wonder if Ruger is ever going to develop another firearm that isn't a copy of something else. It seems like the P89 series was the last gun I saw from Ruger that was all their own. I'm all in favor of more choices, and when Ruger does make a copy, it seems to be a bit better or less expensive than the original.

  32. Given the targets they chose, the amped up rhetoric for domestic consumption...I think the Iranians are trying to save some pride for the moment while avoiding direct confrontation. Overt acts with conventional military resources aren't their strong suit, so my bet is they'll regroup and go back to the more familiar "terrorist" style efforts for any further retailitory moves that could also just be an extension of efforts already underway. So, for everyone hoping to see B-2 and cruise missle footage...sorry. I guess consult a doctor if your war boner doesn't go away after four hours.

  35. Only? Wow! We have 5 vehicles, and altogether they wouldn’t be worth $40k. Heck, I could add my boat, 4 wheeler, and my son’s street bike and still don’t get up to 40k. That’s quite a sum to have tied up in a depreciating asset.

  37. My view is that we have this problem with Iran today because Carter and Reagan didn't have the stones to take care of them in either 1979 or 1983. I understood Carter's inaction because he was a known pansy. I did NOT expect Reagan to allow the deaths of so many of my brother Marines, soldiers, and sailors to go unanswered. It's why I get annoyed to see people lift him up as a great president. Had we counter-struck 10 fold back to Iran with cruise missiles they would not be still killing our people today whether directly or indirectly. Will this lead us to war? I am no more of a prophet than anyone else. Iran thinks Russia will protect them but that didn't work out too well for other countries Russia has backed. I don't recall Russia getting directly engaged in any conflict with the US. Selling arms and sending advisers, sure. While I am glad that the US has taken out this a-hole it still doesn't make up for the thousands of killed and maimed at the hands of the Iranians. I think it's a foregone conclusion that Iran will strike back making it more important for the US to strike again even harder. Eventually, they'll either die or learn their lesson.

  42. I've reached the point that I don't need anything. I have guns to cover all occasions. So I just buy what I like. Had to think about it. The last compact I got was about a 1 1/2 ago when I traded for a Sig P239. Everything I've bought since has been full size.

  43. In .308 A’s I have owned a DPMS Panther and now own a DPMS 308 Recon LR-GII. I’ve never had an issue with either. I only sold the Panther because it had an A2 front sight post I didn’t want (I use optics on most everything), also DPMS changed the specs of their lowers and had different heights. That became an issue when trying to buy accessories; so I sold it and got the current model. I’m very happy with it, other than the scope I put on it. The main piece of advice I would give you is that there isn’t a Mil-Std for the AR-10. That makes aftermarket options much more expensive than for a Mil-Std AR. So it will cost you less if you get the options you want, on the rifle from the factory when you buy it. I own many firearms that serve many different applications. But if I had to pick and keep only one rifle; it would be my DPMS 308 Recon LR-GII; it serves most any purpose. https://dpms-gii.com/full.html
