  1. If you want to call the majority of counties declaring themselves 2A sanctuaries, Sheriffs promising to deputize members of the community, and the incoming administration threatening to use the national guard to enforce anti 2A laws a chicken little event, then yea, I guess we're done here.

  2. There's been a whole lot of discussion on other boards about the new Python for a while now. A couple of surprises for me here. First it was said to have a solid barrel similar to S&Ws L-frame. Glad to see that it is indeed to classic vent rib. Second, the MSRP is considerably lower than rumored. Estimates had put it at a bit over $2000. Very happy to see they were wrong about that too. I have no doubt that it'll be an excellent gun. However, much like the Cobra and King Cobra, its a completely different lock work trying to cash in on an old, recognized name. So it ain't really a Python. It just looks kinda like one. Very disappointed they aren't making it in blue. That always was the true classic Python. I have a few Colt Revolvers including a 6" Blue Python. Its a great gun and I've always wanted a 4" to go with it. But S&W has always been my go to brand. They shoot great and are much more affordable. I just don't shoot my Python much. IDK, maybe if they come out with a blue one I might get interested. But I really do want to get one in my hands just to check it out. If Colt wants to start bringing back the snake guns. My vote is for the Diamondback in both .38 and .22. I absolutely love the old "D" frames.

  4. Glad you got that squared away. That could have gone a lot worse. In case you weren’t already on blood thinners - bring a sweater.

  5. Will pray for you Grayfox. Like I always say, if I had known I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of my body. But that is a lie because I would have done the same stunts. Hope you get to feeling better.

  6. Its occurred to me that everybody is looking at this from the wrong angle. The name may be Python, but its a completely separate and totally new gun. Rather than judging it against the older classic python, we should look at it as a totally new gun and judge it for its own merits. I'm guessing that its probably a better gun. Its just not what you would expect a Python to be.

  7. Manufacturing today is far beyond any capabilities we had in the past. I am absolutely sure of that because I have been in it most all my life. If you are on top on the game, you don’t need “Hand fitting” you only need assembly. If you are making guns to sell at the lowest price possible; you won’t be as concerned about, or judged on, your quality. Folks are happy to buy bottom feeder guns if they are cheap. But that will be very different if you are claiming a comeback of one of the most iconic revolvers in the firearms market. I expect to see plenty of whining and crying about this gun regardless of the quality. I wish the new snake luck. You get what you pay for and that hasn’t changed fully yet; but it’s on its way. Look at the Ruger Wrangler. From most everyone’s first impressions (That I have seen), the finish is Cerakote and nothing to brag about, but the quality and accuracy is far beyond any of those other cheap revolvers out there. And its under $200.

  8. How far is the creek from the "pond" and does it flow well? Would it be easier to put in a small water wheel to generate the power to light the pond? Then you could bury the lines to the pond and not have to worry about the aesthetics of solar panels.

  9. Thanks for the support guys. I'm well aware how serious this could have been. Back in 2003 my sister threw a clot that got to her brain and killed her. I just never thought I might get one too. But then nobody ever really thinks something life threatening will happen to them. Aren't we all ten feet tall and bullet proof? The truth is that my overall health is pretty good. Aside from a few everyday aches and pains, for the most part I'm just fine. Nothing really limits me. But every now and then something does pop up to make you realize just how fragile your life truly is. Facing one's own mortality is a hell of a thing. Scares the Hell outta you. This is my third time and it never gets any easier. But I refuse to run scared. I plan on hanging around for a very long time yet. I'm gonna go kicking and screaming all the way to the very end.

  10. In the original post, it sounds as if the GA FFL transfered the handgun to FIL (a GA resident) with the intent of FIL gifting the handgun to his daughter. That is all legal. What would not be legal (a violation of federal law, I think a felony) is for FIL to permanently transfer (or gift) any firearm to a resident of a state other than his own. To complete a transfer/ gift in this case, the firearm needs to go through an FFL (with handguns being required to go through an FFL in the recipient's state of residence and long guns having a bit more flexibility). We can all speculate until our cows put themselves to bed about what your local FFL will or won't do for or require from you. The only way to know for sure is to call them and ask. And be sure they get all the details and are willing transfer the gun from your GA resident FIL to his daughter in TN.

  11. I've been after a 4" for years until I came across a 6" I couldn't pass up. It was made in 1970 and looks new. The old blue finish is simply amazing. If the trigger on these compares, I'll add a 4" to the collection.

  12. That’s the truth. I “might” be interested if they could duplicate that sweet old Royal Blue that’s always made this diehard S&W fan drool but there’s no way they can. Polishing stainless is a whole lot easier and takes a lot less skill than properly blueing guns.

  13. NOT A LAWYER!!! I think that's correct, however don't get caught doing it. Pretty sure the ATF will flip if they ever catch someone doing it.
    1 point
  14. Not necessarily. You can take the gun to a FFL and have them log it from your father in law and then transfer it to your wife. When a FFL logs in a firearm they do not log how they received it just that they have it. They may want a copy of your FILs drivers license but it should not matter if the gun was shipped to them or walked in the front door. I know that is how it used to be.

  15. Just something I noticed here. Canik mags fit and function in a PPQ. So, you can have an eighteen or twenty round PPQ.

  16. It's legal for one person to purchase a firearm as a gift for another person. It's not legal for a non-FFL resident of one state to transfer (sell or gift, et al) ANY firearm to a resident of another state. (Unless it's as part of an estate settlement. It sounds like that's not the case here.) Perhaps the dealer was operating under the assumption that your father-in-law was planning to travel to TN to complete the transfer of the handgun there. Even an FFL holder can only transfer a handgun to a resident of the state in which that FFL holder is licensed. ETA: And @DaveTN is spot on: don't take our word for it, go pay a lawyer for 15 minutes of their time.

  17. Yes, I would say further action is required to be legal. However, you need to find out from an attorney if you can gift a handgun to a family member in another state. My opinion, which is worth exactly what you are paying for it, is that the gun dealer violated the law. I could be wrong though; it has happened before. But I’m not aware of a way handgun ownership can be transferred either by selling or gifting between non-licensees in different states, without a transfer through an FFL in the new owners state. This is a case where you probably shouldn’t go by what you read on an internet forum. Other than the call an attorney part.

  18. Yeah, two thoughts. The chances of it causing an issue? Not very high. The cost of going to a local (in TN) FFL and performing a transfer? $30.00 +=$10.00. The peace of mind knowing that there is no legal issue at all? 100% priceless.

  19. Armed Security can be uniform or plainclothes. Church Security is another story,no Armed Security Card required, you are there on your own using your handgun permit to protect you and your family.. Church Security Team, you need only HCP and you have to take a special class to cover you and church, put on by trainer. Like any civilian/police you can be charged or sued for certain mishaps,

  20. It wouldn't apply to them . They aren’t claiming to be licensed guards. They are just citizens with HCP’s.

  21. I owned 2 Pythons in my days. A 4" nickle which was my duty piece and a 6" in Royal Blue. Sold them both years ago. Brand new back in the late 70"s, paid about $250 and $275. We later were switching to semi autos in which I carried my Colt Mk IV Series 70 Nickle 1911 45acp. A fellow just out of the academy loved my 4" Python and begged me to sell it. That was the early 80's. About a decade ago, sold my 6" to a horse vet that lived near the borders of Mexico. Wanted it for, well, you know.... Then the Walking dead drove the prices of them up averaging over $3K for ones at about 98%... Most youngsters prob never heard of a Python till that show. So bad ass Rick with it and went nutso. I told my wife, one day I will punish myself and buy a 6" nickle like our buddy has and suck it up. But who was to know that these things would hurdle prices. So here we are full circle. I'm glad to see it coming back and if it lives up to it's expectations, I think it's obvious that Colt is trying to win its way back into the market and at competitive prices. So, I will buy it. Maybe save $3G. I'm sure my wife won't mind. Not a snake, but I'd really love to see them come back with the Lawman III, 2" 357. I also sold that to the guy that owned the marina I kept my boat at. Awesome gun as well! If you couldn't hit the enemy, a ball of fire, 4' in diameter, would bind the scum making followup shot easier.... My original duty holster for the 4" Python.... Kindly referred to as the 'Dangler'..

  23. Just being ready for whatever my come. Absolutely not, I would have nothing to do with any organization such as that. I jump through all the hoops and pay all my tax stamps, make sure I know the difference between a stock and a brace, etc.

  24. The “militia” in every state of the union is called the National Guard. I’d be wary of seeking out or aligning with any groups using that term. They are small, fractured, hysterical, and are already on The Man’s radar.

  25. I've loaded zillions of rounds over the years in a storage building in the back yard. I keep all components out there. As long as it's waterproof, you should be fine. It's not wired, but I run lights and a small ceramic heater (when it's cold) and a big fan (when it's hot), all by extension cord. I reload more after dark in hot weather and more during the day during cold weather. A wired building...maybe someday.

  26. I reloaded for several years in an 8x12 portable barn when we first married. It wasn’t heated nor cooled, and I left all my components in there. Never hurt a thing.

  27. Done a few transfers with Royal range now - super easy and quick. Just fill out the form online and get a call when you gun is in. The biggest plus for me - the guys actually act like your doing business with them when doing ffl transfer, they don't act like I'm wasting their time like most other places have in the past for me. I will be purchasing more from them just because of how they have treated me.

  28. Disagree. I've seen one that was either poorly assembled or machined. It had feed issues until it locked up. Turned out it kind of blew up the BCG. It was sent back to PSA and refunded for being garbage.

  29. I got an email from rosesimin.com advertising a sale. So, I went to the web site and did a little shopping. I figured I had either bought from these guys or one of their partners. I did a quick google search and I didn't see anything negative. Well, I fell for the good deals and made a purchase. I bought 4 pairs of pants Sunday nite and Monday morning I got a FedEx tracking. I was in FedEx yesterday and ask them to track it and they said FedEx does not has possession of the package. FedEx told me anyone can create a label without leaving their home. So when I got home yesterday I did another google search of rosesimin.com and there is many many complaints it's a rip off site. I called my credit card company and told them that I am an idiot, they turned off the credit card and refunded my stupidity. I think I will put on my velcro walking shoes and go to the mall for a power walk.
