It is a hair after midnight as I sit typing this. My family are all asleep, the lights are off save for the soft warm glow of the Christmas lights strung across our fireplace mantle and those wrapped around the Christmas tree across the room. The only sound in the house is that of my own typing on this laptop and a Christmas piano playlist on Spotify softly piped through the speakers nearby. The day before Christmas is officially here and it seems as though, as usual, things have only slowed down enough in the last few days for me to really immerse myself in the sights and sounds of the season. Time to reflect, to absorb, to ponder, and to enjoy. I sure do miss the carefree years of childhood when every moment from Thanksgiving onward built toward a crescendo of CHRISTMAS! Every year I swear to myself that I will slow down earlier and enjoy it more, sooner. Work never willingly lets me, although I have learned to set boundaries and force it to. I'm still not good at it. I need to do better. I suspect many of you reading this can relate. But, lest I sound too dour, I am thankful that I am here, in this moment, enjoying and reflecting and savoring. I did hit the pause button earlier than I have in the past, and gave myself a reprieve for a few days. I've taken my oldest daughter (the oldest at home, at least) with me on a few carefree and whimsical errands to just spend time together and get her excited about the holidays. I've slowed to lie on the floor in our front room and stare out the front door with my 2-year old son at the Christmas lights decorating the house. I've made a few Kentucky Mules to drink and, in the name of the Scientific Method, tried them in varying mixtures as I work to perfect the art. I don't think I've got them right just yet. More work is to be done. For science. I've also served additional rotations on the safety team at my church this season, in an attempt to give back just a little toward a debt that I could never truly repay. It has allowed me more time around people enjoying the holidays, and more Merry Christmas'es than I might have exchanged with strangers otherwise. If I could have just one wish for all of you here on TGO it would be simply for more time for each of you to slow down and enjoy the season, even if that enjoyment only means a quiet refrain between the busyness of 2019 and the busyness of 2020. I hope that each of you finds time over the next few days to spend Christmas the way that you like. Whether that is in the company of friends and family, or serving others, or just quietly but happily alone reflecting on the goodness that still abounds in this world if you look for it. If you are on duty somewhere this Christmas, please accept my thanks. Whether it be in public safety or a 24/7 profession of some other sort that doesn't take breaks, whatever it is you're doing matters to someone - perhaps to all of us. Thank you for doing it. I hope that you have some moment of rest and relaxation in there somewhere. Merry Christmas, TGO! For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. (Isaiah 9:6-7)9 points

It is wonderful to see people that Remember The Reason For This Season. It is not about all the gifts we give but the one and Only Gift the world was given on this day. A gift that keeps on giving everyday and will do so as long as you open your hearts and let the gift in. Merry Christmas to all here and their families and wishing everyone a Prosperous New Year for all!!4 points

I hope each of you find yourselves surrounded by those you love, and that this time is a time of peace and joy. I know for some of you that this is a tough time of year. Some of you are in this thread. The loss of those we’ve loved is tough. Know that I remember you, and have kept you in my prayers too. I wish each of you a Merry Christmas.3 points

We tried to tell you they aren't legal currency. But for real, that's a decent bit of land and amenities for someone with cigar lighting money to spare. Wouldn't be surprised to see some hedge fund owner nab it as a weekend retreat.2 points

Nope. Any barrel and extension should be head spaced already If you are at all concerned, all you need to check headspace is a loaded round, your stripped bolt, and a roll of masking tape. Measure the thickness of the masking tape. Add one layer at a time to the head of your shell and attempt to close the stripped bolt on it. Repeat until it will not close. Do the math.2 points

I bought a ARStoner A3 upper a few years back, and love it.Get one. Mine runs fine with steel and brass case ammo, and accurate.2 points

Buy as much of it as you can and stack it deep. I've long said that ammunition is the way that the antis will eventually strangle the 2A.2 points

I was able to go out this afternoon, and get some shooting done. The weather is 64 and sunny this afternoon. We got 1" of rain yesterday and the new filled ground was soft. I had to put about 1 foot of fill dirt to level out my range and the apron in front of the targets. I have a good new stand of fescue grass and some of the clods were still very wet so my shoes had to be cleaned, I guess one could say it was a tad bit wet. At any rate I shot a 50 round box at 30 feet, into a new H frame target I purchased a couple months ago. I went to Home Depot and got some 8' 1'x4' lumber and cut me tow 4' stanchions to put in the H holder frame. I also ordered some cardboard targets that are a little smaller than the FBI B 27 targets. They also have much smaller heads on the cardboard than a B 27. I purchased them, and the mettle H frame stands from Midway this fall when they had good sales on them. The target zone is much smaller as the A section is 4", the B section is 5", and the C zone is 6" in the chest area, and the semi triangle in the head is a 3" triangle. I like them better because the target areas are smaller and one must take care to get them within the A B C zones. That is good enough for me. I will say the center mass on these targets is still a little low for my liking. My zone is a little higher on the target, say inside of the breast nipples to lower throat zone. I was shooting my M P 9MM C 2.0 pistol. All hits in the chest, were in the mostly A or few in the B zone. I had 6 shots in the head, and hit the A zone 4 out of the 6 at 30 feet off hand. I was satisfied with my shooting. My aim was testing the HP ammo and practicing a smooth trigger pull. I used 4 different kinds of ammo, some hollow points and a few round nose. This was all ammo I had previously carried in my EDC and had collected of the past couple years after prolonged carry. I wanted to see how the M P handled the different H P bullets. I had Cor Bon, Gold Dots, Golden Saber, and Federal in the H P side, and Winchester W B practice round nose to round out the session. This pistol has shot everything I have fed it and I now have around 650 through the gun. I am now carrying it when I go out and using either a Cross Breed IWB or Aherns Belt Slide with a good long tailed LL Bean Flannel shirt, mostly untucked. I really have fallen in love with the trigger on this gun. I reminds me of the single action double action trigger on my Sig 229. It has some take up in it, but the final pull is very short and sweet. Like double action on my 686 after cocking the hammer first. I like that. I almost like stage the trigger, like on a revolver, then when I hit the wall I know it is a very short distance to fire the pistol. I don't know what the poundage is on this trigger, but it is light, guessing maybe 4 pounds, but not as light as my DL 23 Glock. I am still pocket carrying the 7 shot 357 mag in the Desantsis Nemesis pocket holster. Something comforting about that revolver. Been my constant companion for 7 years now. I home carry this revolver 24 7 when not sleeping, and I feel it saved my bacon 3 years ago now. I had an incident going to the Mail box. I would have liked to spend more time shooting, but we have Christmas goodies to take to friends, and a lot of my time was spent on prepping the target and getting tables and metal targets moved to the new shooting range. I have 3 targets with steel plates hanging on chains I shoot at sometimes. Left a short window to shoot. Will try to do more the next time. I can see I am really going to enjoy my new range this coming summer.1 point

I think many of us share your point of view. I still don’t know who thought we really needed a dual system, but I think it is a result of state government officials being afraid to go for constitutional carry.1 point

the price is posted in the link. Its on sale! I dont think you have to win the lotto, from Davids posted pics of toys, I am sure he'll cover the first 8 million or so. Decided military style lookouts and decor. Similar to the towers they put up around hardended ordinance bunkers on bases. No fuel tanks, so great thing is no messy toxic clean up. Not form that anyway.1 point

Been my experience, if you paint the front sight, apply a coat of white before your permanent color. It will make the red redder, or the green greener, or the orange oranger. I learned that from experience. One thing though, thoroughly clean all the oil from the surface of the ramp or the paint will not stick well.1 point

I've shot the Piney Mountain .22 tracers. They work very well. Only trace for about 100 to 150 yards, but how far are you shooting .22 anyway? Tracers do not cause fouling or unreliability. They are expensive for .22 ammo, but lots of fun.1 point

I can't wrap my head around the reason there is a hazmat charge for powder or primer, but not for loaded ammo, which contains.....you guessed it, powder and primers.1 point

Friends... this could be the start of the new TGO World Headquarters and Boogaloo Forward Operating Base if we pool our resources. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/31619/you-can-buy-this-mysterious-tennessee-base-complete-with-mountaintop-runway Highly improved recreational ranch with private airfield, excellent interior roads, live streams, timber, and a large abundance of wildlife. Paved road access and some paved private interior roads. Estimated over $1,000,000 spent in private ranch road network. Improvements: 2,300 x 100+/- airstrip with a control tower and two hangars. Two very nice metal insulated hangars each one is 3,500 +/- square feet. Four nicer modular buildings on property. Large double- winged equipment shed with central insulated shop and office quarters. Fiber optic line had been laid to the interior of the ranch. 4 large, high- elevation observation tower stations scattered throughout the ranch provide magnificent views of both landscape and wildlife. Interior Roads: Over 10.5 miles of engineered high- grade all- weather private roads, some of which are paved. Many more miles of natural base interior roads traverse off the main roads, completing a network to which very few other ranches would compare. With no public roads/access through the heart of the ranch, this provides a very unique, large private setting. The infrastructure improvements including the roads and runway were constructed in 2010. All other improvements on the property were constructed from 2011 to 2012. Ranch Amenities: Water is in abundance with several ponds and streams, including some live streams. The topographic changes throughout the ranch provide many conducive lake site potentials. Water wells provide water to the newer structures. Elevation changes from the peaks of many large hills overlooking vast areas down to numerous creek bottoms. Although there are large draws and big hills, the topsoil is considerably good throughout the elevation changes, which provides excellent growth across the ranch. Land: 3,000 +/- acres of pine timber varying from 8 to 11 years old. 2,500 +/- acres of hardwood timber varying from young to older mature trees. 350 +/- acres of rolling pasture grass fields. Wildlife: Hunting has not been allowed on this ranch for many years. Such a large contiguous block of desirable natural habitat for wildlife without historical hunting pressure is very hard to find. Wildlife is easily viewed from vehicles while driving around the ranch. Morning and evening daylight hours produce consistent viewing of deer and turkey out in the roads. As an example, all the pictures and video of deer where taken one evening over approximately an hour, from a vehicle, while on the ranch. Although wooded now, there are many acres of historical fields on the ranch that could be put back to use for wildlife or commercial farming. The infrastructure, habitat, and wildlife are in place to be utilized as a top end hunting retreat.0 points
