I went to the hospital today to visit a friend I've know since 1959. I'm 70 and he's 5 years older than me and he's had a rough life but the good news is he is on the mend and goes home on Monday. He shared a thought to live by his father shared with him some 50 odd years ago on his death bed. The old man said to him..."Life is at best uncertain......so always eat your dessert first". He's been unable to not think of that every time he sits down to eat when a dessert is involved. I'm going to take that advice to heart starting tonight.8 points

I got the chance to go deer hunting last evening. I went with my grandson, that was burned in the bon-fire accident. He is doing better and has improved considerably. He still has a few spots, of infection, that has not totally cleared up but His Dr said, "If he kept on improving he would be able to go back to school after the new year break is over." He still has some bad arms but will possibly take a the next year totally heal. He had 3rd degree burns on both arms and hands. His face is healed almost completely except for some pinkish skin which the Dr said should dissipate over time. We sit in a ground blind and finally just right at the end of shooting light had gone, two does walked in and a buck came into the food plot, a short time later, to feed. He asked if I though he should try for the buck, I told him it was too dark so he let him walk. I didn't want to tell him but my old eyes could hardly see the buck's antlers. Oh FOR YOUNG EYES! Any ways it was great fun. I don't have a deer tag and he has filled both his doe tags, but has 2 buck tags remaining. It was great to spend 3 hours with my 15 year old grandson hunting. It was nice, and peaceful to watch nature go to sleep. I may go with him again to another farm of a friends , if the opportunity presents itself. All the years my father and I hunted, we never saw not one deer that was within our kill zones in Eastern KY.. Deer are plentiful, now, in this area of Middle TN. Great, great times.4 points

I have a problem. I love going to auctions. I will bid on anything if it is going really cheap. Because of that I end up with some stuff I have no business buying. The following is an example. I have two lots of Nascar collectibles. They are not really old stuff so I do not think there is much value yet. What I would like to do is find somebody that has kids or grandkids that would actually play with cars. So if you have kids or grandkids that will play with these cars then you can have one of the two lots for free. These would make for some nice Christmas presents. The first person to respond can have their choice of the two lots and the second can have what's left. You will need to pick these up in Brentwood or Bellevue.2 points

Just thinking how lucky that this joker didn't use an aircraft to do more evil deeds. Not sure what aircraft he was training with but lots of targets of opportunity that a Kamikazi even without bombs and missles could do. Isn't there a Nuclear plant within range of there?2 points

It is not new. It has been federal law for decades. Handgun sales must be made in your state of legal residence and since identifying information is filled out using your DL, that’s the determining document. Rifles may be purchased in another state, but the sale must conform to the laws of the buyer‘s state of residence. In this instance NY state law prohibits residents from purchasing long guns in non contiguous border states. If you live in TN full time, then you need to change your license anyways. If you only live in TN part time then you will have to buy what you want in NYS, or more reasonably, some place like PA and then transport it to TN. If you choose the latter, I wouldn’t go back through NYS on the way to TN. It has been alleged that they do something similar to CA and use state agents to keep an eye on the gun stores in bordering areas to ensure non-conforming guns aren’t bought out of state and smuggled in by residents.2 points

The left isn’t a fan of the 1st either. Like all authoritarians, they were fans of protecting their rights to speak out and protest while they were striving to gain power. Now that they’ve got it, they are doing their damnedest to silence the opposition because they know the danger folks speaking for reason, truth, and liberty pose when they start tightening the screws.2 points

When I was in high school, I had a summer job in a warehouse. It is the first time I ever used a forklift andit took me a bit of time to get the hang of it. On the very top of a very high rack was a pallet that no one could get down because it was a bit far back on the shelf for the forks to reach. I was told that the pallet contained a box full of paper plates, so I didn't think it a great deal would matter when I dropped it. Being the young newbie that no one took too seriously, I wanted to prove myself by getting that pallet down all by myself. I got to work early and practiced getting the fork lift in place and positioned. Check. Got the forks under the pallet. Check. Was able to get the forks to the end of the pallet. Check. I was ready to strike and prove my mettle! Everyone went to lunch at Noon, so at 11:30 I got the fork lift as close as I could to the rack that held the pallet so I could strike as soon as everyone left. When the warehouse was quiet, I struck! I got the fork lift in position and carefully raised it, The forks went right in, and I got enough lift to bring the pallet down. What I did not know and could not see was a broken piece of wood sticking out on the back of the pallet, so when I started to come down, the wood hit the rack and flipped the pallet. Down it fell about 12 feet and hit the floor. And 5,000 ceramic coffee cups exploded through the box, of course all broken. (Paper plates?) I went into a panic trying to fix it, but I had no defense. When my boss came back from lunch and I explained what I did, he laughed so hard! And I started laughing with him and offered to help clean up. I was sure I survived this huge mistake. He was kind enough to tell me that I didn't need to help clean up, because I was fired. He also stated what a joy it was to work with me, because I was the dumbest employee he ever had . . . Such is life!1 point

A friend of mine elsewhere had this to say about our relationship with KSA, and I think he’s got a pretty strong point. “So, i had my standard rant about how our relationship with Saudi Arabia only exists because of how badly we ####ed up with Iran, how they're not allies, how they fund and/or radicalized every group of assholes we are pitted against across the globe when i realized something... What if THAT'S why we're friends with them? Saudi Arabia, at this point, is basically keeping the DOD employed and the reason why we have adversaries across the planet, thus keeping the wheels of the MIC churning. I've honestly never really considered it... And it's pretty depressing to think about.”1 point

I didn't get long winded because of those three words. Out of state or multi-state, that we could carry on about for hours, does not apply to him. He must have a Tennessee ID.1 point

They’re not allowed to fly our aircraft with any armaments. They. Outdoor fly it into something but that’s about it.1 point

It well past the time for the US.gov to recognize what the people in the US and the KSA have long known, we are not friends. It’s time to stop pretending that they are our allies. It only leads to dead Americans.1 point

Iv put together a couple hundred or so 1911A1's back in my AO days. And I have to say I was pretty impressed with a Ruger SR1911 my brother bought 2 years ago. It shot very well with nice sights and most of all the factory trigger was perfect out of the box. THAT is pretty rare. No tune up needed in any cat. And I'm not a big Ruger fan but they do a hell of a job on those SR guns.1 point

Good morning all. Today is the 78th anniversary of the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor. To all you vets out there, a great big thanks. You are not forgotten and your service is appreciated. It is the reason we sleep well at night because we know someone stands guard each and every night.1 point

While on my crane hunt in Texas I took some time to check out Palo Duro Canyon. It is the 2nd largest canyon in the country. If you like western topography I would highly recommend checking it out. It is a pretty cool place. You are allowed to camp there and it is a great place to hike or just sight see.1 point

It's on my bucket list. Haven't made it yet, due to various reasons. I first learned of this a few yrs. ago while reading western novels ( my fav. books ). It told a story how cattle rancher Charles Goodnight stumbled across it during a cattle drive. Some of it was fiction, of course, but I looked it up, the canyon was real, and I became facsinated by it. There are several Youtube videos on it. Awesome place! I'm envious, LOL1 point

In the spirit of that: unfortunately I wasn't in the office when this happened but the story was relayed to me by a co-worker. Employee #1 had recently declared that he stopped drinking. He come in one day saying how hung over he is. My buddy says "oh I thought you quit drinking?" To which he replied "I quit drinking liquor, beer ain't drinking." Personal account- I was working as an electrician's assistant for a company years ago. I was pretty new and didn't know everyone yet. I got paired up with a guy to go with on a project for about 3 days. He calls me and asks if I would like to share a room. I wasn't making much and the company allowed us to keep per diem that we didn't spend, so I agree. We get to where we're going, get in the room and are chit chatting and whatnot, like a couple of normal guys might do. Then he pulls out his laptop and asks "you like to look at porn?" I tell him that I don't want to watch porn with him. He proceeded to casually watch porn and smoke cigarettes in the non smoking room the remainder of the evening. I got my own room the next night.0 points
