I have a problem. I love going to auctions. I will bid on anything if it is going really cheap. Because of that I end up with some stuff I have no business buying. The following is an example. I have two lots of Nascar collectibles. They are not really old stuff so I do not think there is much value yet. What I would like to do is find somebody that has kids or grandkids that would actually play with cars. So if you have kids or grandkids that will play with these cars then you can have one of the two lots for free. These would make for some nice Christmas presents. The first person to respond can have their choice of the two lots and the second can have what's left. You will need to pick these up in Brentwood or Bellevue.3 points

I just got back from a three day hunt in Canyon Texas for Sandhill Cranes. I bought this hunt at our local chapters SCI banquet. This was my first time hunting cranes and it was a blast. They call sandhill cranes the flying ribeye of the sky. I had heard so much about how great they are to eat that I was worried that it would not live up to hype. Our outfitter grilled us some breasts one night and let me say that it does live up to the hype. If you did not know you were eating crane you would think it was steak. We also had some spectacular sunrises and sunsets. I used Diamond Wing Outfitters. They were great. Worked hard to make sure we had opportunities to kill cranes. The limit is three per day. We had four hunters in our group. The first day we saw thousands of cranes but only killed 3. The second day we got 9 but should have limited out. They are a tough bird to bring down unless you get a clean head shot. The third day we got our limit. One afternoon we also got some duck hunting in. All in all it was a great trip. https://www.diamondwingoutfitters.com2 points

I’ve been jonesing for a .22 “Walther” for quite some time and have been watching the prices on these drop the past couple of years. Thing is I already have a po’ man’s James Bond gun and it’s a dandy. Bersa Thunder .22 that eats Remington Golden Bullets like candy, lol.2 points

These are actually made by Umarex. A well known and respected maker of airguns in Europe and Walther's current parent company. Its made of a material called Zamek. While it is a zinc alloy, it is NOT pot metal as the internet so often wants to claim. Its a much more refined alloy and plenty strong enough for .22 pistols. Umarex also makes several .22 caliber copies of centerfire pistols for other companies. I have one of these .22 PPK/s and its a fine little pistol. The DA trigger sucks, but it also sucks on the real PP pistols. It does smooth out a bit with use. Its also suppressor ready. A $20 thread adapter and you can screw your 1/2X28 can right on. These are fun little guns! Totally reliable and plinking accurate. Oddly enough mine really loves cheap Remington Thunderbolt ammo. I like mine!2 points

In all honesty, I bet the web store side is outsourced, or at least ran on 3rd party servers. Usually when it starts the IT guys get to give it a green light and keep up with it. At some point someone puts reduced cost above security and changes are made that put things at risk. Cheaper hosting companies, cheaper 3rd party vendor software, and etc. end up meaning less security. How else can they do it cheaper without cutting things out?1 point

S&W took a lot of heat because they tried to "improve" the PPK. It didn't work. No, S&W won't be making them again because they pissed Walther off. The S&W PPKs are the red headed step child of both companies. Neither will provide any info at all about them. You can't check serial numbers, production numbers, dates or anything else. The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson (AKA the S&W bible) has exactly two paragraphs about these guns that basically just admits that they did make them and nothing more. Walther simply says they have no records on them. They're actually excellent guns once you get that safety recall done. I have one of those too.1 point

When I was on the road with Tammy Wynette, we were working at Radio City Music Hall in NY in the 80's. There was a lighting cue in a theater like that where she finished one song, took a bow, the house go completely dark, she sat on a stool, got handed a guitar, and the spotlight was to open on her. Now, she was in a completely different position than she was in when the place went black. So, our light guy is asking who has the most experience. One of the guys in his gruff NY accent says, "I been runnin' this spot for 45 years." Moose tells him he's got the cue. He explains to him what it is, he says, "Yeah, yeah I got it." So... Stand... bow... room goes black... handed guitar... stool... sit... and the spot opens "POOF," right dead on the center of her face. Perfect. It's quiet in Radio City Music Hall, and everyone hears this quiet scream from up in the lighting rafters... "FU**ING A!!!!" Priceless.1 point

I used to work for Tractor Supply Company. For those not familiar with TSC it like a nicer Co-op. In the cattle section we had a display of our cattle prods on the wall. The farmers liked to see how strong the electrical arc was so we always kept fresh batteries in them. One quiet Sunday morning a young couple came. The woman wanted to look at some horse tack. I showed her where it was and started some other task. A couple of minutes later I hear a blood curdling scream and a G**DAMNIT JAMES!!!!! It really echoed through the store. I turn around and see James dying laughing while holding our strongest cattle prod and his wife rubbing her butt. If looks could kill I would have to call the cops. I have never seen a woman so mad. It was really hard not to start laughing along with James.1 point

Technically they are. Umarex owns Walther. They're made to Walther's specs and sold by Walther under their own name. The internals are pretty much pure Walther PPK. Many parts will interchange. The frame is slightly different on the sides in regard to the shape of the mag well cut outs. If you want to change grips you have to get the ones specifically for this model. But have no doubt, this IS a Walther PPK/s. Moped, that trigger is terrible. But it will smooth out with use. The center fire PP series has a terrible DA trigger too. The thing is that most of us only fire the first shot DA and all the rest are SA. We also know not to dry fire a .22. So it may take quite a while for the trigger to get better. Umarex also makes the .22 Caliber 1911s that Colt sells under their name and make a highly rated .22 copy of the Beretta M9 as well. These are good guns.1 point

I put 30 years in the Post Office. You would not believe how we were treated the last 5 years(1999-2004) of my long run. My daughter still works in the Postal system. Believe it or not, it has gotten worse. We had a strong union. We filed 90 grievances, and lost just one. A grievance is filed when a violation of union contract occurs. We would have won the one we lost, but an employee lied under oath. I was the union Stewart or President for about 20 years. I personally witnessed about every kind of evil one could imagine. I sit in an arbitration, where my supervisor, and others, came in and put their hands on the Bible, and swore to tell the truth, then lied through their teeth. I tell you, cold chills came over my body when I witnessed that. I got out of that union job because I didn't want to be a party to such like. My supervisor came to me, after that union proceeding, and told me he was sorry he lied, but he had to keep his job. I told him that I was not really overly concerned about what the outcome of that proceeding would be, but it really bothered me knowing he, and those men, swore before God, then did not tell the truth. IMO, those people condemned themselves to a bad outcome if they don't change their ways. Guys, that is scary to me. I have a healthy fear(respect) for God and no amount of money is worth loosing your soul over. A lot of people have very little morals any longer. Just watch the video posted at the first of this thread, about the forced sell off of Cabela's, and the jerk that forced that to happen, all the while destroying a whole town in Nebraska. The guy in the lumber yard was correct, the hedge fund guy(billionaire), that caused that to happen, his money is his God. Six thousand people in that town now suffers because he did that. To my way of thinking, the money he made is "ill gotten gain." In the hereafter, it will do him no good. Dave, what he did might be legal, but it was unjust. God demands we love our brother as ourselves. This guy did not show love. Guys, the Bible talks about ill gotten gain and the consequences for that. When someone is forced to loose so you can prosper, that profit is ill gotten. It's not pretty what is in store if people don't change! Not many are taught there is a just God and there are severe consequences, in our next life(realm of departed spirits), for violating Godly principals, in our lives, in this realm(realm among the living today). I want to spend eternity with God, in the final realm. That is why I try to live, as I do today. I am not always successful, but try. All one needs to do is pick up the Bible, and do what it says, as best as one can, then leave the rest up to Jesus/ God. Guys, do you realize that the U S has aborted almost 1/2 of the next generation through abortion. Truly a "Sad" state of affairs. RED333, sorry for the rant, but thanks for sharing your struggle with us. IMO, many in this country are sick of the way we are treaded by those over us. These unjust things will not be in store for those who love God and Jesus in the final realm.1 point

Man. I looked at these several times. I think it's a great size for a little .22. BUT, I think Grayfox54 may have understated how horrible the double action trigger pull really is! . It may be the worst trigger I have ever seen!!! Single action isn't that bad, but I would estimate that the double action is 18+ lbs, at least!!! No need for a safety on this pistol, that's for sure. Harvey's in Knoxville, has both the blue and nickel finishes for about this same price. Other than the trigger, it seems like a nice little pistol, though. I was inpressed with the fit and finish. It's about what you'd expect from Walther.1 point

This is the risk you run when you put too much stock of your company out there. If you don't want this to happen, never have an IPO or always make sure that you retain at least 51% ownership.1 point

I hate to see that so many fellow old farts are wanting to dump out of their guns. I wouldn't mind selling a few that have overflowed the safe. I probably won't do that until I can get a decent price for them. Now, if a Democrat gets elected president, I may even make a couple of holes in the safe.1 point

I got an email from rosesimin.com advertising a sale. So, I went to the web site and did a little shopping. I figured I had either bought from these guys or one of their partners. I did a quick google search and I didn't see anything negative. Well, I fell for the good deals and made a purchase. I bought 4 pairs of pants Sunday nite and Monday morning I got a FedEx tracking. I was in FedEx yesterday and ask them to track it and they said FedEx does not has possession of the package. FedEx told me anyone can create a label without leaving their home. So when I got home yesterday I did another google search of rosesimin.com and there is many many complaints it's a rip off site. I called my credit card company and told them that I am an idiot, they turned off the credit card and refunded my stupidity. I think I will put on my velcro walking shoes and go to the mall for a power walk.0 points

Several years ago we needed a new water line connection for a new piece of equipment at work. It's a typical metal industrial building with 25ft ceilings and all the wiring and plumbing overhead. So the maintenance guy figures out which 2" water line he's going to T into, finds the upstream valve, closes it, and moves to the spot for the T commences cutting the pvc line. A moment later there's water spraying everywhere and he's 20ft up on a lift hollering for help. Another maintenance guy goes and gets another lift and finds the next upstream valve to close. He's Intentionally not moving real fast as we're all laughing hysterically. The lift gets about halfway up to the valve, beep, and comes back down. Dead battery. O So he goes and gets the only other lift, which is twice as big, and takes several minutes to maneuver into place and close the valve. During the 10 minutes or so for all that to happen, the first guy has wrapped his shirt around the pipe to control the spray and couldn't be any wetter if he'd jumped in the lake. After cleaning up the couple hundred gallons of water in the floor, the maintenance guys go look at the first valve. When doing the initial plumbing, someone ran out of unions and used a ball valve to join 2 lengths of pipe. Except they knocked the ball out of the valve so turning the handle did nothing. And who did the initial plumbing? The first maintenance guy as he worked for the contractor who built the building before being hired.0 points
