A shout out to @GlockSpock and @Lumber_Jack for their efforts in getting the wife and I some new old tunes for the turntable. I appreciate their efforts. Mark3 points

2012 MB GLK 350 4matic with 85k miles. Purchased from the dealership where my wife works with a service contract and GAP coverage. Initially, I was looking at the Honda Ridgeline, but for less than $15,000 I couldn't find one with under 100k miles. Stumbled across the GLK, internet revealed the ought 12 to be the best of the model run. Boxy, with early Subie Forester lines. Reminds me of my '94 Jeep Cherokee. Interior is nicely appointed but Teutonically spartan. I like it. Google images will be way more interesting than what I could post. Best I can tell, mine is the mid trim level; no nav, backup camera, heated seats, fancy rims, or sensors for adaptaive cruise and such. Less stuff to break? Peppy with the 3.5L V6 500 miles since purchase, both city and highway. 19-20 around town, 24-25 highway with cruise at 70. MB claims it's roots are in the G-Wagen, hence GLK = Galendewagen Luxus Kompaktklasse. Yeah right, seems bit of marketing hype, maybe even an over promise and under deliver scenario if I can't make it up the Hinkle Road hill. My minimum requirement was an AWD system to get me home, out of my gently sloping driveway and subdivision, and the occasional unimproved but somewhat graded road / very established trail to a shooting range. After YouTube'ing yesterday, it's remarkable what this little SUV can do in a parking lot. I APOLOGIZE FOR THE BLOOMBERG PREZ ADVERT YOU ARE FORCED TO WATCH2 points

Hey everyone, just moved to Spring Hill (Middle TN) a few months back. Glad I found a forum with like minded individuals. I come from behind enemy lines in CA. I worked in the firearm industry in the state and ended up running a gun shop out there for the past 8 years. (Yes, it’s as frustrating as it sounds) It’s so nice to finally live in free America. I may have come from CA but I’m the furthest thing from a Californian you will find. lol Anyways, I’m happy to be here, already purchased 5 guns since moving out here!1 point

Haha well, despite the asinine gun laws there is actually a very strong gun culture there. Some of the most diehard gun guys I’ve met were regular customers of mine. We were an incredibly busy shop, and the more legislation the morons in charge would pass, the more guns we’d sell. The last straw for me was when they forced us to do background checks to sell ammunition. I had customers that would pass their background check for their firearm only to be denied on their ammo purchase because the states system didn’t have time to update that they owned a firearm in the caliber they were trying to purchase. This was after waiting 10 days to pick up their gun. They legislated the living hell out of firearms while at the same time decriminalizing violent felonies and reducing sentences for repeat offenders. That state is so ass-backwards it’s amazing it hasn’t collapsed. (Yet) Anyways, I could rant about working in the CA firearm industry all day. Just know that there is no way we can let that happen in TN!!1 point

Welcome aboard!!! I remember a time in Spring Hill when there was only two traffic lights, a few gas stations, couple restaurants, couple churches and not much else.1 point

Welcome neighbor. Moved here in 2005 and I miss those times when it was only 15,000 people here. Clicked 40,000 this year I think.1 point

That's blasphemy talk in today's climate. My previous carry was a Shield in .40 (almost unheard of) but I recently converted to a Sig P365. The P365 offers 13 rounds in 9mm vs. 8 rounds of .40 in a slightly smaller package. But wait there's more, when you factor in the spare P365 mag which is 15 rounds. My spare Shield mag was a +1 so that gave me a total of 16 rounds of .40 with the Shield vs 28 rounds of 9mm with the P365. I couldn't pass that up.1 point

Ha. While I would agree the .308 is one of the best "all around" rifle calibers, it doesn't fit the classification of a PC Carbine.1 point

One more thing, 1911 mags should be dry as a bone and as free of dust and dirt as possible. The mags needs to be extremely dry.1 point

It’s worth a trip back to RIA. They will eventually get it running or send you a new one. What happens if you load one round into a mag and try to release the slide? Does it go into battery 100 times out of 100? I really believe you are experiencing the dreaded inertia feed. An extended magazine release will do nothing.1 point

They won’t mess with cars. Not only do they need them too; depending on where they live, Auto makers can decide whether or not they get reelected. Gun manufacturers…not so much.1 point

I didn’t miss it, hence my comment about “intent”. But this bill is potentially bad news for firearms trainers, knife makers, etc. So, your local firearms trainer teaches someone to shoot in a class. Let’s say a Carbine class or an AR class. That “someone” becomes the next school shooter. The prosecution finds someone in that class (wanting their 15 minutes of fame) that says “Someone” made remarks during class they found disturbing and that the trainer “should have known”. This could also apply to comments made by someone during a knife making class. As we know, when these incidents happen; the public wants blood. When the person responsible is dead they will take it anywhere they can find it. Douglas Haig made the mistake of manufacturing and selling ammunition without a license. He just pled guilty to selling to Stephen Paddock. He will be sentenced in Feb. But His life, as he knew it, has been destroyed. While he is hoping for probation; I’m sure his legal fees have financially destroyed him. He is facing 5 years in prison and a $250K fine. Why do I bring this up? Intent. The Feds have argued that because Paddock went and got gloves out of his car before handling the ammo; that should have been suspicious to Haig. In the case of the Virginia law they would argue “knowing or having reason to know” The left wants the Firearms manufacturer, the seller, a trainer, and anyone else that is involved in the legal sale or training having to do with weapons used in mass murders to be held accountable.1 point

If possible, I'd try to take advantage of Patton's offer to run mutli mags. If problem rears it ugly head at the range session, with free shipping and reasonably quick turn time, send it back to RIA. It is frustrating considering research and positive owner reviews, but sometimes you get a bad one. Good luck with resolution!1 point

Maybe it'll be a trigger/guard that doesn't make my finger sore after a few magazines.1 point

I've been following this topic to see where it would go, but I'll just add that it's not only firearms that are of concern. The stuff that we have that is important to US is not necessarily important to others, family or otherwise. I have some belongings that are hugely important to ME, that no one else really cares about. It's my interest, and my time, work and money that has gone into it. As much as I've tried to get my kids involved, they just dont care. I've had a hard time getting that through my head, but it's starting to sink in. So, eventually, I'll have to make decisions about selling those things, as hard as it will be for ME. I remember telling my grandfather a similar thing before he passed away, which helps me deal with it....that while I respect your time, interest and hobby, I'm just really not where you are with this. It's a bit of a reality check, for sure.1 point

The only new Glock I'm ever going to get giddy over would be a single stack 10mm, the same length & hight as a 19, with the width of a 43/48.1 point

Probably the best thing you can do for the ones you leave behind is to keep good records for your guns. They will need to know: Make Model Serial number When you bought it What you paid Current value Doing this will keep them from getting screwed when they find themselves having to dispose of your collection. Some of you may remember that a couple of years ago I had to dispose of a late friend's collection for his wife. Thankfully he kept good records. The goal was to sell them and do so quickly. By having his records, being able to identify exactly each gun and knowing what he paid for them, I was able to price his guns attractively to sell quickly, but at the same time make sure his wife didn't lose any money on them. Remember, tomorrow is promised to no one. While you may intend to sell them off yourself, be prepared just in case your loved ones suddenly find themselves stuck with the job.1 point

I can say this with absolute honesty… I wouldn’t go out on Black Friday if they were giving Shields away for free.1 point

I'll be driving from Knox to Cleveland and back on Monday. Happy to provide ground transport. Cell 865-919-39091 point

I'll be in Cleveland Friday Nov 22 for a meeting. If we could coordinate where it wouldn't be terribly inconvenient for me, I'd be glad to mule them back to Knoxville. I'll be at the USFS Forest Supervisor's Office, 2800 Ocoee St. N, Cleveland, TN 37312 from 10am-2pm approximately. So if you can arrange to meet prior to or just after my meeting just let me know1 point

I will happily meet you at your range or mine and we try some known to work mags in your and try your mags in my known to work 1911.1 point

If you’ve already got some grease by all means try it. The point is, a lot of 1911 problems can be cured by proper lubrication. If it slides grease it, if it turns oil it.1 point

Sure, but now not only are you stuck with a Sig, but you are stuck with a 9MM Sig. I carry a Shield in the .40S&W. I know just the thought of firing that round scares the faint of heart, and the women and children. I also (Sometimes) carry a M2.0 40 Compact 4”. It has 13 rounds, but will take my 15 round full size mags. If I get into something 13 rounds of .40S&W can’t get me out of…. it was nice knowing you guys; I had a good ride. I also have a full size M&P 9mm. It does a great job of punching holes in paper and doesn’t scare the small children.0 points
