The best way to win a fight is to not take part in it. The question should never be “am I allowed to use deadly force in _____ situation.” Thats the wrong way to approach the mental work involved in defensive force, though it is quite common amongst folks when they first start carrying. I myself asked the same questions until others here helped me see that my thinking was misaligned. The question should always be “did I do my best to avoid any situation where I may be compelled by lack of reasonable options to use deadly force?” If the answer is yes and you unfortunately found yourself having to use deadly force, at that point your fate is no longer in your own hands. It’s in the hands of police, a prosecutor and possibly a judge and jury. That reality, ugly as it may be doesn’t stop me from being as prepared as I can be to engage in the necessary (key word) amounts of violence to protect myself or my loved ones because the other options aren’t acceptable. Reading through most of your proposed scenarios, my view is informed by being a truck driver who has dealt with more than one road rager in my career. The main pieces of advice I would give is 1) don’t ever get out of your vehicle and engage with the rager in the first place. 2) if you are in a stationary vehicle with someone approaching you, don’t remain stationary! Leave!2 points

Welcome back and thanks for sharing. Coming from a small mag state when moving, plan for the expense of getting normal size mags One of the more pleasurable expenses.2 points

Welcome. For a 1st post/question, yours is a doozy. Lots of variables and situations which brings up a lot of 'depends'. As you pointed out, your best option in most all situations is to leave the area. Once you sense something is going wrong, it is always best to leave before things go bad. As far as your car is concerned with regard to the castle doctrine, basically your passenger compartment has to be violated as far as impact weapons, kicking windows out, or opening your door. Simply beating on your car is not enough to warrant deadly force on your part. Circumstances can vary this response. Being outside your vehicle, returning to retrieve a firearm always will raise some questions and may weaken a SD argument. One of the reasons it is best to obtain a carry permit, have the gun on you in case you need it for an imminent threat.2 points

Found a patch of Paw Paws in the back corner of the property today. A few even had some fruit. Were still hard and green, so I left them alone and made a note to come back and check them every few days until ripe. I've never had them before, but was looking into getting some seed's to try growing some! Guess I know where the right conditions are.... Some of these specimens were really old. Easily 30+ feet tall, 6-inch caliper trunk or greater. Lots of little one's in the under story I thought of trying to transplant.... ... If I wanted to make conditions better for these tree's (aka make them fruit more), what should I do? I know they need shady conditions, but are heavily crowded. Would I be amiss to try thinning the nearby stuff out? Fertilize a little in the spring? Any other suggestions? Thanks. - K1 point

Ok, I can’t be the only one excited about this rifle coming out. Granted, I don’t live on a farm, and need a good snake gun. But I’m kind of a .22 whore and loves me some lever guns. Its listed with an MSRP of 420, so I’m guessing we’ll see it closer to 350. And when my wife asks me how many guns do I really need? I answer, “I don’t know, all of them?” https://www.henryusa.com/shotgun/garden-gun-smoothbore-22/1 point

Hello everyone, I just found his forum here and wanted to send a hello to the group. I'm from Germantown, outside of Memphis...ended up in MA outside of Boston for about 18 years with work, and after the divorce, decided I had to move back home. I'm lucky that my job allows me to pretty much work anywhere....the cost of living was too much up there... I've been shooting since I was a kid, I still have the Winchester 190 my grandfather passed down to me when I was 6. Up in MA, I was on the BOD of my gun club for over 10 years. I was active with GOAL (the local gun activist group in MA) and the protecting our rights up in MA, and I'm a Life Member of the NRA. I used to help with our club's Jr Marksmanship program, and got my kids involved when they were young. You know, our future and all. I don't really know much about what's going on here in TN anymore....so I figured this would be a good place to figure out laws, rights, issues that are important to us here in TN. You want to know about gun laws in MA? I can tell you all about them....here, not so much. But that was because I taught for the State of MA and UT for ones CCW permits. Had to take yearly law primers for MA law to keep up with what I needed to teach students to keep them out of trouble. The laws up there are not friendly as all. I also used to shoot SASS and have thought about getting into Three Gun or IDPA...but just never made the jump. haha My current wife and I have moved from East Memphis to Germantown to get the little one back into good schools....so I'm going to be looking to sell a few things down the road that are just sitting around and taking up space in the house, garage, and my safes. I look forward to meeting folks on here....and maybe I can make a few friends that have some good places to shoot. I've only been out a few times in the few years I've been here...and only to the range in Bartlett. I miss shooting outside as there just wasn't public ranges in MA...as most of you can imagine. Anyway, thanks for letting me ramble on and I look forward to meeting a few of you, learning, and getting back into being more active with the culture.1 point

If some jerk is beating on your window with a crowbar, then waiting for it to come through the glass before you take action does not seem like an optimal strategy for self defense.1 point

https://www.guntrustguru.com/faqs Scroll down and you'll see where a woman in TX had a self prepared revocable trust declared invalid (aka not worth the paper used). Does not mention any weapons being seized. Also states that the ATF has not questioned the validity of any gun trusts, but don't know how recent the info in this link is. The ATF cannot just "declare" a trust invalid, only a court of law could make that determination. The author also seems to create some confusion with his wording of "revocable living trust" and a NFA gun trust interchangeably. In my mind, the two should not be used in this manner. A revocable living trust is a legal document just like the NFA gun trust is, but the two have totally different objectives IMO. The two have similar powers, terminology and objectives, and could be created/controlled under one document but only a well versed estate planning attorney familiar with ATF regs should be consulted if this is desired. A "canned" or boilerplate trust document from an online source would create some interesting legal issues IMO. I would use separate lawyers for each purpose but make sure both lawyers are aware of my intentions, so things would be laid out as I desired.1 point

I agree with you, it doesn't make good business sense when there's over 400 AR manufactures out there. I used to live in New England, and know people working for Colt, S&W, Kahr, NEF, etc... I heard from a guy at Colt that said that why make a product that doesn't sell in this flooded market? They have other firearms that sell well and they can focus on those, revolvers, 1911, etc... The lines are expensive to run and the LEO/Military contracts are fine enough to use those lines for those markets. As you said, they have been having financial issues for quite some time, so why waste money on something that's not making them money. That's what a business is there for, to create a product that will sell, if not, they get out, or change directions.1 point

Falcon Reborn I decided to take a trip for my birthday to the Ozarks. Slight turn to Nighthawk Customs in Berryville, Ar... Stayed in beautiful Eureka Springs. Month or so ago, I sent my Falcon in to the original builder for a face lift. I am second owner. It left NH in 2013 with a black slide and olive drab green frame. Evidently, the owner got sick of the green and had the whole gun cerakoted. Normally most of their black 1911s are Nitride. So I had them re- nitride the whole gun back to orig look. I changed out the g10 grips with another set of NH grips with a pewter NH emblem. I removed the rear Heine site, (hated it) and installed a Trij rear. While it was there, had them install new ss barrel and had it gold tin coated. They fine tuned everything and test fired it. At the advice of the builder, why not blacked the barrel bushing and trigger. It would look awesome. Gave him the ok. They had everything ready by time I arrived. These are awesome people. The facility is huge and top notch! I would recommend them to anyone. Here are some before and after shots. When bought.... Then to this by me...... Now......(excuse oil) Can’t wait to shoot it!
