  1. Public service announcement about Palmetto State Armory. maybe this is public, common knowledge, but it was not to me until yesterday. On palmetto's daily deals, some of them have a "coupon code". If you enter that code when you check out, it makes the price lower than is advertised. Sometimes substantially lower, like 150$ off a 400$ scope and mount set. I have no idea why they do this, you have to add the item to your card to see the discounted price. Maybe this is common and I'm just old. But I could not believe how much discount i got on that scope.

  2. It’s about chipping away at our rights. It doesn’t have anything to do with “hey look at me”. It’s more about the 2A and “shall not be infringed”. It gets some of us worked up because it’s moving the front line closer. Today’s open carry is tomorrow’s CARRY. I personally don’t open carry in public, but it sure is nice knowing that if my T-shirt rides up, I’m still legal.

  5. The declaration by the prog/soc/comm san fran council has nothing to do with the leadership of the NRA, although I admit they are very lacking. The NRA is a convenient target, the ones in their crosshairs are you, me & every other law abiding gun owner in this country.

  8. My thanks to you all. You've helped me reinforce my on thoughts on this. I am a fan/hoarder of several S&W revolvers, a few of them quite nice. Not huge collector value, but ones that have a pull for me. I was once told this..."Never trade a steel gun for a plastic gun." That has usually been my creedo. And as much as I like my PPQ 9, and would like a Q5 Match, this just doesn't work. Thanks again, friends, for your good advice. I think I'll pass this opportunity by.

  10. I've done firearms training for one team. This particular team has a retired Secret Service guy doing their planning, but he wanted them to get firearms training from someone other than him. Strategos seems to be a well respected name in the niche of church security. They have a pretty active schedule with such courses.

  11. In the words of Dave Chappelle “I don’t see any peaceful way to disarm America’s whites.” https://www.thedailybeast.com/dave-chappelle-takes-on-guns-in-netflix-special-only-black-people-can-disarm-americas-whites Backstory...I heard about some folks getting up in arms about Dave Chappelle's latest show; so, I went and watched it. If you have been hammered by all this crazy news lately; take a break and go watch this show. It's called Dave Chappelle, Sticks & Stones on Netflix. Most of you will laugh your azz off. Now I warn you, if you are bothered by bad language or inappropriate views on current events; don't watch this.

  12. I don’t believe it is yet, but we are headed that way. Talking with people in the workplace or out in public does not yield the same results as reading what they say on the internet or in the news. The battle this time won’t be over race, although a lot of one side sure is tired of being called racists at every turn.

  13. I think I kind of coming around to it like this - and it kind of fits into how I think about restaurants in general. I traveled 50 weeks a year for several years. That, unfortunately did two things to me. It made me hotel snob and a restaurant snob. When I go to a restaurant, I generally want one of two things - either I want to go someplace really nice or I want to go to a dive - in between, I'd generally rather just eat at home. I think the article kind of gave voice to what I've felt about barbecue. I love the old dive places - traditional barbecue if you will. They're workingman's food - and a pork sandwich ought not cost more than a few bucks. I also love the high end places that have taken one theme and do it really well - think Franklin Barbecue's brisket. What I'm not particularly interested in is a bunch of the places in the middle - all the national chains that serve mediocre, Sysco-sourced stuff. The places trying to be everything to everyone. I can go for a place that's got multiple locations in a particular city - think Martin's or Central or the BBQ Shop. Even Germantown Commisary has a couple now, I think. I don't know - I'm going to continue to ponder on this...

  17. BBQ was best when it was whole hog, cooked over homegrown charcoal, laid out on old metal racks supported on rows of concrete blocks, under an open-air awning of tin and rough-sawn wood. Surrounded by dirt worn bare by generations of folks who stopped by and bought their meat pulled directly off the hog by the pound with stacks of buns and chips on an old picnic table nearby, paid in cash only ...

  19. Walmart gets sued if someone falls in the dairy isle, but they’re not going to stop selling cheese. The dairy farmers aren’t going to pay their legal fees. When a business opens it’s doors to the public, it risks suit for almost anything. How does not selling SBR ammo (whatever that is), handgun ammo and asking people to stop OC keep people from suing them? Still doesn’t change a thing. The gun community didn’t do this. A deranged lunatic did.

  20. Take your age, divide by .005, times pie( 3.14159 ), add 1000, minus 1, times your age to the 10th power = enough. If you think that is not enough change .005 to .00005 and you age to the 15th power.

  22. The general thought is that steel shoots "tighter" than lead. A mod lead choke will shoot more like a full when you put steel through it. Generally, steel through a full choke is a no-no, but some are marked as okay for steel. Have you tested the chokes you have with the loads you intend to use? If they pattern well, no sense in dropping the coin on new ones...

  25. If you are in this state, you are legal. When the new carry permits come out; those folks won’t have a choice. Someone decided that if you don’t have any training you should have to be concealed. I’m not sure how or why that matters; but so be it. It gets more people carrying that couldn’t afford to before. Until our state recognizes the 2nd amendment as an individual right of all citizens; I support the business owners. They aren’t the government and they aren’t violating your rights; you have no right to carry on their property if they don’t want you to; as a matter of fact, it’s a crime. That’s why I said it bothers me that businesses that aren’t gun related are being forced to pick sides. They aren’t going to pick our side. When you are Wal-Mart and a gunman has murdered 22 people and shot 24 others in a brutal attack in your store; you get to make new rules if you so desire. I refuse to judge Wal-Mart on these decisions. Are we all going to step up and pay the legal costs when all these lawsuits against Wal-Mart hit the courts? Of course we won’t; that won’t be our problem. The line absolutely is moving closer in this state. It’s moving closer to Constitutional carry. But you still won’t be able to force your beliefs on a business owner; if you don’t like what they do, don’t go there, understand that concealed means concealed and risk a $500 fine, or disarm. Those are your choices. Don’t get worked up. You can’t buy rights. Beating your head against the wall over trying to force your gun privileges you bought from the state isn’t going to work, and it isn’t worth the stress.

  27. We're all addicted to cheap communist china products to one extent or another wherever we buy from. Walmart has it down to a science and some don't have a choice economically to avoid shopping there. Whatever loss from ticked off 2ndA folks won't make a dent in their profits I'm afraid. The only good thing is maybe savvy Gun Shop owners will set up shop next to Walmarts. This push against guns will be small victory for small business in the short term. long term... our rights are fading fast with every mass shooting by these crazies.

You know they think you are a crazy stalker if you do that, don’t you? I’ve seen you stalkers on my profile page; don't think I don't know who you are. You know how when your cursor is on the main page and user names pop up if you hover over it? I wonder if that shows you as a stalker on their profile page. Inquiring minds want to know. That and it’s a slow day.

  35. I have one I planned to use to do a lot of what you outline, I just never ended up actually doing it. I now shoot rimfire benchrest and never shoot much centerfire or pistol at all. If you decide to go forward with the LNL, I have a full setup, including case feeder I will make you a super deal on. It hasn't been hardly used and I don't foresee using it and I hate to see it just sit. I had it listed here before with all of the accessories. I think I have a list somewhere. PM me if you decide you may be interested. I am just in Chapel Hill so you can come take a look at it anytime if you want.

  36. I have had one for several years with many thousands of rounds and no problems except for one: the priming station. When new and properly adjusted, it worked great. There is a black angled piece that holds the primer feed cam in place. I have had to replace that piece 3 times as it slowly bends out of shape and/or breaks. I finally gave up and bought the Hornady Handheld Priming Tool that I prefer to use. This press uses the quick insert die bushings. I use only the ones which came with the press. I didn't feel the need to buy a separate bushing for each die. I leave the dies in the press and screw each die into place when being used. Once the dies are set and the lock rings locked on place, the dies seat to the same height each time. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the press. In fairness I can not compare it to any other progressive press as this is the only one I have used. I used a Rockchucker for years and still use for some of the more strenuous activities of case forming and full length resizing. When I decided to go progressive the Hornady was within my budget. I have read many favorable reviews about Dillon, but couldn't afford one.

  37. I’m a little conflicted. One of the better places in Memphis has multiple restaurants in town. Their most recent couldn’t be any more obviously a proof of concept design for a larger chain expansion. Very nice and slick and obviously a sanitized quick serve model. Memphis style BBQ is the best and I want to share it with folks, but at the same time, that’s ours. I don’t want to lose the specialness that makes Memphis BBQ the best there is.

  38. Thanks for the plug. You can find the episode at the following link. When I mentioned that the head of our church safety team has spoken favorably of Agape Tactical, I might as well have added: After interviewing William for that episode of the podcast last year, my family and I started attending William's church. William runs a tight ship and the folks who do this every week are investing a lot of time and talent into the program. As you'll hear in the podcast, our approach is an "All Hazards Approach" and not a tactical Sunday school program. The focus is on keeping the people on campus safe from any and all threats to their safety whether they are weather, nature, medical, manmade, or human. Recently I started serving on the safety team as a way to give back to the community and do my part. I gave it a bit over a year of us being members before asking my wife if she was comfortable with what all of what that could mean. It's no longer a matter of me being my family's private security detail or their safety being my only concern. I'm glad she said yes. I hope we never have to test that commitment. https://www.shootersnation.com/podcast/017-church-safety-security-teams-with-us-navy-seal-william/

  40. I wonder if this might lead to a domino effect? Some businesses might say "Hey Walmart can prohibit open carry then so can we." What's next? No guns allowed? It makes me wonder. Imagine going about your Saturday morning errands and every place you might normally go to (e.g. Bojangles, Lowe's, etc, etc.) has a gun buster sign on their doors. A carry permit becomes almost useless because you would have to leave your gun in your vehicle or face criminal penalties if you got caught carrying past a sign. I think the Walmart thing is the anti-gun's movement to eventually convince every business that guns are bad and people who carry them are a liability that isn't worth having their business. They know property rights trump gun carry laws and will find any way possible to circumvent lawful carrying of guns in public. Private property rights would be the logical first step. Maybe I'm wrong about all this but those anti-gunners are sneaky bastards.

Right now they have a bunch of spineless people in charge that all they can do is ask for their members to send them money. They ask me for donations at least twice a week but I don't see them doing anything positive to earn it.........JMHO
