  3. I don't share your certainty. It appears to me that someone has conveyed the fact to Trump that he's toast in the upcoming election if he pizzez off the gun crowd. I think he's smart enough to listen. Now after the election, I'd say all bets are off.

  4. Some folks say that AIWB is only for skinny guys to brag about being skinny. I’ve come to realize that it really is the method of carry that allows for the fastest and most efficient draw. It works really well, there’s just one real problem with it. The longer I drive a truck, the bigger my belly gets. I’ve tried multiple AIWB holsters with varying degrees of success between fail to middlin. Some were better than others, but nothing was ever really that comfortable. Now I think I’ve actually found a well made and quite comfortable AIWB holster. It’s made by Tier 1 Concealed. It’s a sidecar style holster that is two pieces attached with a laced bungee cord that allows the two pieces to flex and curve around mah belly. Here’s a few pics of me with, without, and with shirt lifted to show the rig. The gun is an M&P 9 2.0 Compact with a 15 rd in gun and a 17rd as a spare. I can sit down and stand up without it digging into my legs or restricting my movement and making me move like I’m 90 years old because it cut circulation from digging into my thighs. Without gun: With gun: I’m sorry for this next one and its view of my pasty white belly, but it’s useful for showing how it sits in the pants. Here’s pics of the rig by itself.

  5. Hmm... I can’t say I agree with the last sentence. Nothing fires up the base like the prospect of 2A infringement. He needs his base to be fired up FOR him on election day. I for one would lose a lot of my motivation for Trump if he backs down on protecting the 2A whereas right now I’m all in to give him another term. I know I'm not alone. I’m certainly not a single issue voter, but guns are part of the foundation. If he blurs the lines between himself and the dems in a big way on guns, then he’s toast IMO

  7. This is correct. It is the law. The addresses on the ID and on the 4473 must match. It is considered a violation if the ATF catches a discrepancy between the two in an audit. When I worked at a gun shop I helped plenty of folks fill out change of address forms online with the DoS so that we could print a copy to file with the 4473.

  8. I can't recommend a Simmons for anything but a beginners 22RF so when it gets dropped or kicked, no loss. I would go with the Leupold, I've got a couple of those, good clear scope for the $$. Being out in CO and your scope goes wonky would be bad. Never had a B&L but have read positive comments on that brand. Another one to throw in for consideration would be a Vortex Diamondback, clear glass as well, same price range IIRC as the Leupold, but you should look through all of 'em, and go from there. I have a Diamondback, glass is clear but I don't care for the huge rear eyepiece (IMO).

  9. Not sure I'd agree, if he killed an anti gun bill who would he be done with? I hope most are not single issue voters, but there are enough that are to make a difference. None of the things he has done will win any of the hard left voters, and maybe he will get some of the centrist Dems, and definitely will win votes from those that just couldn't vote for him last time. I mean, who doesn't want a strong economy and low unemployment? He will win no votes implementing universal background checks, but he may lose some, so..which way do you think he will go?

  10. I think KNOW there would be much less "general population" support for Universal Background Checks if the correct name for the proposal would be used. As most gun owners know, the proper name is "Federal Firearm Registration". I despise the conniving political and media lowlifes.

  11. I know some of you could care less where your guns are made; but many of us do; this discussion is for those members. Buy American, Hire American, America First. More and more we see guns in the bottom feeder category that are American Made. Lets face it, until the last few years the only decent American Made gun that is low cost and wasn’t (arguably) junk was the Hi Point. We have come a long way. The thread about the Stoger and the Canik (both made in Turkey) being under $300 made me think that we have better options for less money; even American Made options. So if you like to buy cheap guns, and want to buy American; now is a good time. Even prices on some of the top quality, best sellers in the Industry have dropped. The SCCY CPX we routinely see selling below $200. It’s currently made in Florida with the company in the process of moving to Tennessee. And it gets good reviews Kel-Tec PF-9 right at $200 and the P-11 just over, and made here. Diamondback at just over $200. New models like the Remington R51 (brought back after a bad start) at just over $200 and the Mossberg MC1SC at around $300; we shall see. Ruger EC9 at around $250 and Security 9 and SR9 at $300. MOSSBERG MC1SC at $300; we shall see. All the Highpoints at around $175. They have a big following… bless their heart. And even Smith & Wesson Shields at $250 and Full Size models dropping below $300!! Proven performers.

  16. I've got a Trex Arms sidecar and I was surprised how well it conceals. I can carry a Glock 19 with a 15 round mag and a 19 round back up. When I bought the thing I was about 225, I ballooned up to 245 and could not carry the holster until recently. I've lost around 15 pounds on a Keto diet and have started carrying the Trex arms holster again. Like you said it really is a quick draw from concealment, just keep the ole trigger finger far away while drawing

  17. Academy requires the address to be correct on the ID or have a valid alternative.

  18. Have you purchased any other firearms from an FFL holder since your address change AND put your new address on your paperwork (as required)? Because that is the law, according to the ATF. https://www.atf.gov/firearms/qa/what-form-identification-must-licensee-obtain-transferee-firearm Other places may have missed it, but that doesn't mean the current place is wrong for abiding by the regulation.

  19. I hope we don’t have to find out, but I don’t think he would lose enough votes to matter if it was voted in by Congress and he signed it. But if Congress voted in a bill on background checks and he shot it down; stick a fork in him he done. But I don’t think there is going to be a Federal Universal Background check bill. I don’t think it would pass muster with the SCOTUS. I think there will be a push for each state to implement it. (Apply what they already have to all sales) But that’s just my WAG; who knows. The last election was won on the economy & Jobs, if Trump wins again it will be because of the economy & Jobs. If he loses it will be over immigration. Guns will have zero impact on this election.

  21. There's been one in Chattanooga for years and years. Probably close to maybe 15 years at this point? Maybe more. I like it. Personally, I like it more than Cabela's or Bass Pro, but we didn't have those in the area until about 2-4 years ago.

  22. My parents had one go under their house and die in a far corner of the crawlspace. It smelled like rotting animal AND skunk for weeks. We had to go under there and clean that out! I trapped the remaining ones around their house using a live trap with peanut butter bait. I threw a small blanket over the cage and loaded them in the truck bed. Then I released them a few miles away near someone else’s house (not really.... I put them in the woods )

  23. Agreed. We can’t do a background check, buy why couldn’t we enter the information and get a simple “Yes” or “No”. But as you say the goal isn’t to do background checks and keep bad people from getting guns. I believe, the goal is for Republicans to be able to say they are doing everything they can, and for Democrats to do everything they can to stop any gun sale.

  24. If you haven’t filed for retirement, you don’t have to take part A. In fact, you won’t get it unless you file for it. Part A (HI) can cause some tax problems if you have it while working and making contributions to a heath savings account in the same year. Just something to keep in mind. I’d advise anyone in that situation to talk to a tax pro.

  26. There's a bit of a story behind the Raven. I saw a for sale ad several years ago. Guy said it had feed problems and make an offer. I got it for $20. Took it home, turned the firing pin around the way it should be and its worked like a champ ever since. A week or so later my best friend dropped by and I showed it to him. His reaction was "I want this! Sell it to me!" So I let him have it for what I paid. After he passed, his wife and I were going through the gun safes when I ran across it again. I handed his wife $20 and stuck it in my pocket. I doubt I'll ever sell it again.

  27. Agreed, however to save face by me, the Swedish AK4 is a Swedish version of the Hk G3 which was derived from the Cetme so I wasn't totally off base!! LOL Good catch though!

  31. @ShaggyRS6, I wish I had advice for you but I'm dealing with this as well. I live in the city limits and my dogs have been sprayed twice this summer. It's horrible. I can't legally shoot them and I have no way of trapping and drowning them as suggested. I've been on a mission to secure my fenced in backyard and smelt another one of the bastards two nights ago trying to infiltrate. I think they are attracted to the apple tree in my backyard. You have no idea how difficult it is to get skunk smell out of Siberian Husky fur. I'm hoping she learned her lesson after getting a tomato paste bath.
