I just did some more digging through the book. Your Model 32-1 was most likely made in 1968/1969. The listing is on a different page from the rest of the J-frames, thus the confusion. It also says R prefixes for this model started in 1969 and as diamond grips were eliminated in '68, this one is on the cusp so to speak. .38 Regulation Police and Models 32,33 1949-1969 54475-122678

A couple of buddy's and myself were able to get on a land owner exemption list and are doing some pig hunting. I took the first one the other night. We are hunting over a feeder that is on a timer and the pigs seem to be all trained up. I spent a bunch of years hunting pigs unsuccessfully but I believe I've finally figured out enough to have some success within the past couple of years. I certainly don't mind to discuss strategy and tactics, but I will not discuss where I am hunting. This one was a smaller 40ish pounder that came in with 6 others. My buddy and I agreed to shoot on 3, he counted and forgot to shoot, and I took home the bacon. He was still nice enough to help me dress it and it was on ice in less than an hour after shooting. One thing for sure is that the rest of them don't stick around. We took our first born daughter to a horse show last evening. Didn't get home until 1:00 AM. Got up this morning and opened the curtains, which overlooks our back yard. There sits a large track laying loader. It appears my son-in-law and grandson have decided to build my shooting range in the back yard today. We have 3 acers of land, and in the far left corner, of my back yard, we have a perfect place to put an earthen berm to shoot into. I have several large boulders that need to be moved and some large rock crevasses that needs to be filled, with dirt, so we can have a 100 yard range, and a substantial berm to absorb the bullets in order to provide a good backstop. My last wood backstop lasted 25 years, but is toast now. I guess grandson will clear the area, with the loader, and SIL will haul several large truckloads of dirt today. Oh well another $1,000.00 down the tubes, but will have an excellent firing range afterwards, that should last for years. Son in law's dad has a construction company, and thankfully, I do get the family discount. There is a side note to this venture, grandson wants a good 100 yard rifle range to shoot his Weatherby 06 that Pop Pop laid on him last Christmas. I want to put up some popper plates, square metel plates, and a good backstop, with a very smooth area in front of the berm, so we will be able to move and fire safely. All my family likes to shoot when the come for a visit. We have 4 girls and 6 grandchildren so we can burn some ammo on an outing. Looks like we are in for a busy day.

My FN 509 MRD arrived this past week and I wasted no time popping a spare Trijicon RM07 red dot optic on it and taking it to the range. This is my second 509, having purchased the non optic-ready midsize 509M earlier this year and being very pleased with it as well. As I have commented elsewhere on TGO lately, I am quickly coming to the point where I am not interested in a handgun for daily carry if isn't set up for use with an optic. I began the red dot journey a year ago and am fully converted to the religion now. If you had asked me about it two years ago, I would have told you I was greatly skeptical. This one of those things where personal exposure and experience are the greatest persuaders. As for the 509 MRD, there is is only one reason that this gun could could fail to put a hurt on the sale of more well known 9mm handguns for duty or serious concealed carry: lack of marketing exposure. FN doesn't have the marketing budget of Glock or Smith & Wesson, I'm sure. But they have a superior firearm in the 509. There. I said it. Buy one before the rest of the world figures it out and you have to wait to find one.

I've just been given this by a really good friend (it's good to help out sometimes!) As far as I can tell it's a Model 32 (possibly a Terrier) in .38 s&w That's pretty much all kinds can find online about it. I found a couple on Gunbroker with values that, to me, seem outlandish, but I can't find any dating info for the serial number. It has one number on the butt, that matches inside the grips, but there's a different number on the inside of the crane. Can anyone help me out with dating/value info please? This is my first actual Smith revolver.....

That's one of the things that I like about pig hunting, there are a bunch of ways to do it and none of them are wrong.

The front strap texture can be brutal on the dominant hand if you grip it as firmly as you should. My fingers hurt like hell yesterday after a few hours at the range and several hours of dry-fire at home. I already have callouses on my hands from daily use of a rowing machine and lifting weights, but this thing tenderized them and is going to put callouses on top of callouses. I figure I will either toughen up, or lightly knock off some of the edges of the front strap's knurls with some very fine grip sand paper, or just send the frame out to someone and let them do a full make-over on it. Yet to be determined. Right now I'm sucking it up. For a fighting pistol, you want a grippy texture. Blood, water, sweat, slime, goo of questionable nature... all of those things make it hard to hold on to your blaster. So, the 509 is perfect for the job under dire circumstances and that is why part of me says I should just leave it alone. At extended sessions at the range or an all-day, all-weekend class... you're going to feel it.

Nice little revolver! This looks like what you were looking for, unless it’s worth a lot of money. Reloading may be the way to go for it though. .38S&W isn’t that easy to find. And most of it that I’ve seen are lead round nose. Not the greatest defense round out there. Of course, if you are just going to use it to plink with, then who cares.

That’s why I let my C&R license lapse...just wasn’t enough use for it anymore.

Congrats on the gun buy. I gave my grandson a Mossy 500 as he has started rabbit hunting. It was a 20 Ga and had the 18" brl so I called Mossberg and purchased a 24" brl with 3 screw in choke tubes. Cost me 250.00 for all of it. I think the brl was 180.00. I am sure they would have a 14" if you want one for your Shockwave. I shot my Mosey 12 Ga with the pistol grip, and my old arthritic wrist hurt for days. Can't take the shorty guns any longer, but you enjoy. Yes, that should make a good addition to your house gun battery.

Leaving your headlights on is more obvious than your kids in the back seat? That's incomprehensible. Having kids should fundamentally change how a person thinks and acts. People need to put down the damn phone, quit being so self absorbed and accept the idea that their needs are no longer the most important thing.

The days of "much" being imported are over. There are some occasional shipments trickling in, mostly from private sales overseas to locators for bonded importers, they make a lot of treks around Europe seeking out old milsurps for sale on the private market and when they have enough stockpiled to make a shipment, they send them over. Apparently a very small shipment of Mosins made it in from Ukraine last year, and a few similar rifles from the former Yugoslavia states and Albania have also made it over in the last 2 or 3 years, but it's a tiny trickle, at best ...

Back in my younger days I thought about going hog hunting. That was until my little brother went. This was back when Catoosa had hog hunts and my brother went with a couple other guys and a guide with dogs. My brother Cory was using a Blackhawk 44 mag and he did kill a hog. It to was also a head shot. Thing is it was a head shot from directly above the hog that sent my little brother up a tree and he had to shoot the hog while hanging above it in the tree. That was enough to change my mind about hunting hogs...........

My daughter is now in the hospital on a ventilator, been 4 days. Please pray for her......
